Darby's Translation

Luke

14

1Yiwen wass yellan d ass n westeɛfu, Sidna Ɛisa illa yețwaɛreḍ ɣer wexxam n yiwen seg yimeqqranen n yifariziyen iwakken ad yefteṛ. Wid yellan dinna țɛassan-t d acu ara yexdem.
1And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the rulers, [who was] of the Pharisees, to eat bread on [the] sabbath, that *they* were watching him.
2Yella dinna yiwen wergaz yesɛan lehlak n ubezzug.
2And behold, there was a certain dropsical [man] before him.
3Sidna Ɛisa yenṭeq ɣer lɛulama n ccariɛa d yifariziyen yenna-yasen : D acu twalam ? D leḥlal win ara isseḥlun deg wass n westeɛfu neɣ ala ?
3And Jesus answering spoke unto the doctors of the law and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath?
4Imi yiwen deg-sen ur d-yenṭiq, Sidna Ɛisa iqeṛṛeb ɣer umuḍin-nni, yesseḥla-t, iserreḥ-as ad iṛuḥ.
4But they were silent. And taking him he healed him and let him go.
5Dɣa yenna i wiyaḍ : Anwa deg-wen ma yeɣli-yas mmi-s neɣ wezger-ines ɣer lbir, ur t-id-ițekkes ara ɣas ma d ass n westeɛfu ?
5And answering he said to them, Of which of you shall an ass or ox fall into a well, that he does not straightway pull him up on the sabbath day?
6Yiwen ur izmir a s-d-yerr awal.
6And they were not able to answer him to these things.
7Mi gwala wid yețwaɛerḍen bdan țextiṛin imukan imezwura, Sidna Ɛisa yewwi-yasen-d lemtel-agi yenna yasen :
7And he spoke a parable to those that were invited, remarking how they chose out the first places, saying to them,
8M'ara k-id-yeɛreḍ yiwen ɣer tmeɣṛa, ɣurek ur țțaṭṭaf ara amkan amezwaru ! Axaṭer yezmer ad yili yiwen ger inebgawen yesɛan leqdeṛ akteṛ-ik ,
8When thou art invited by any one to a wedding, do not lay thyself down in the first place at table, lest perhaps a more honourable than thou be invited by him,
9a d-yas win i kkun-iɛerḍen i sin a k-yini : « eǧǧ-as amkan-nni i wagi ! » Imiren aț-țenneḥcameḍ, aț-țṛuḥeḍ aț-țeṭṭfeḍ amkan aneggaru.
9and he who invited thee and him come and say to thee, Give place to this [man], and then thou begin with shame to take the last place.
10Lameɛna m'ara tețwaɛeṛḍeḍ, ṭṭef amkan aneggaru iwakken m'ara d-yas win i k-id-iɛerḍen, a k-yini : « ay aḥbib ɛeddi-d ɣer zdat ! » Imiren aț-țesɛuḍ leqdeṛ zdat inebgawen meṛṛa.
10But when thou hast been invited, go and put thyself down in the last place, that when he who has invited thee comes, he may say to thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have honour before all that are lying at table with thee;
11Axaṭer kra n win yessalayen iman-is a t-id-yessers Ṛebbi , ma d win yesrusuyen iman-is a t-yerfed.
11for every one that exalts himself shall be abased, and he that abases himself shall be exalted.
12Yenna daɣen i win i t-id iɛeṛḍen : M'ara tebɣuḍ aț-țseččeḍ, ur d-ɛeṛṛeḍ ara imdukkal-ik neɣ atmaten ik, ur d-ɛeṛṛeḍ ara imawlan-ik neɣ lǧiran-ik imeṛkantiyen ; m'ulac a k ɛerḍen ula d nutni iwakken a k-d-rren lxiṛ-ik.
12And he said also to him that had invited him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, nor thy kinsfolk, nor rich neighbours, lest it may be they also should invite thee in return, and a recompense be made thee.
13Lameɛna m'ara txedmeḍ tameɣṛa, ɛṛeḍ-ed igellilen, ineɛyuba, iquḍaren d yiderɣalen.
13But when thou makest a feast, call poor, crippled, lame, blind:
14Ili-k di lfeṛḥ imi ur zmiren ara a k-d-rren lxiṛ-ik, axaṭer lxiṛ-ik a k-id-yuɣal asm'ara d-ḥyun wid yellan d iḥeqqiyen ɣer Ṛebbi.
14and thou shalt be blessed; for they have not [the means] to recompense thee; for it shall be recompensed thee in the resurrection of the just.
15Mi gesla i imeslayen-agi, yiwen seg inebgawen inṭeq-ed yenna i Sidna Ɛisa : Amasseɛd n win ara yeččen tiremt di tgelda n yigenwan!
15And one of those that were lying at table with [them], hearing these things, said to him, Blessed [is] he who shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.
16Sidna Ɛisa yerra-yas : Yiwen wergaz ixdem imensi, iɛreḍ-ed aṭas lɣaci.
16And he said to him, A certain man made a great supper and invited many.
17Lweqt n imensi, iceggeɛ aqeddac-is iwakken ad yini i inebgawen : aset-ed ! Kullec iwjed !
17And he sent his bondman at the hour of supper to say to those who were invited, Come, for already all things are ready.
18Akken ma llan ufan-d sebba. Amezwaru yenna-yas : « aql-i uɣeɣ iger, ilaq ad ṛuḥeɣ a t-id-ẓreɣ , di leɛnaya-k semmeḥ-iyi ».
18And all began, without exception, to excuse themselves. The first said to him, I have bought land, and I must go out and see it; I pray thee hold me for excused.
19Wayeḍ yenna-yas : « aql-i uɣeɣ-d xemsa n tyugiwin n yezgaren bɣiɣ ad ṛuḥeɣ a tent-ɛerḍeɣ, di leɛnaya-k semmeḥ iyi ».
19And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them; I pray thee hold me for excused.
20Wayeḍ daɣen yenna-yas : « tura kan i zewǧeɣ, ulamek ara d aseɣ ».
20And another said, I have married a wife, and on this account I cannot come.
21Mi d-yuɣal uqeddac ɣer umɛellem-is, yeḥka-yas ayen akk i s-d-nnan. Bab n wexxam yerfa, yenna i uqeddac-is : « azzel, ṛuḥ ɣer yiberdan d yizenqan n temdint, tɛeṛḍeḍ-ed iẓawaliyen, ineɛyuba, iderɣalen d iquḍaren ».
21And the bondman came up and brought back word of these things to his lord. Then the master of the house, in anger, said to his bondman, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring here the poor and crippled and lame and blind.
22Mi d-yuɣal uqeddac-nni yenna-yas : a Sidi, ayen i yi-d-tenniḍ xedmeɣ-t yerna mazal llan imukan.
22And the bondman said, Sir, it is done as thou hast commanded, and there is still room.
23Amɛellem yenna i uqeddac is : « effeɣ ɣer iberdan n tudrin d lexlawi ; wid akk ara tafeḍ, ḥṛeṣ-iten a d asen iwakken ad iččaṛ wexxam-iw. »
23And the lord said to the bondman, Go out into the ways and fences and compel to come in, that my house may be filled;
24Atan nniɣ-awen : ula d yiwen seg wid-nni yețwaɛerḍen d imezwura ur iɛerreḍ imensi-inu.
24for I say to you, that not one of those men who were invited shall taste of my supper.
25Aṭas n lɣaci i geddan d Sidna Ɛisa. Yezzi ɣuṛ-sen yenna-yasen :
25And great crowds went with him; and, turning round, he said to them,
26Kra n win ara d-yasen ɣuṛ-i, ma iḥemmel baba-s d yemma-s neɣ tameṭṭut-is d warraw-is neɣ ayetma-s d yessetma-s neɣ iḥemmel iman-is akteṛ-iw, ur izmir ara ad yili d anelmad-iw.
26If any man come to me, and shall not hate his own father and mother, and wife, and children, and brothers, and sisters, yea, and his own life too, he cannot be my disciple;
27Kra n win ur neqbil ara ad yeɛteb ɣef ddemma n yisem-iw yerna ur iyi-d-itbiɛ ara, ur izmir ara ad yili d anelmad-iw.
27and whoever does not carry his cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.
28Anwa deg-wen ma yebɣa ad ibnu lbeṛǧ, ur yețɣimi ara ad ixdem uqbel leḥsab-is, iwakken ad iẓer ma yezmer a t-ifak ?
28For which of you, desirous of building a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, if he have what [is needed] to complete it;
29Axaṭer ma yebda lsas yeǧǧa-t akken, kra n wid ara t-iẓren ad stehzin fell-as ad inin :
29in order that, having laid the foundation of it, and not being able to finish it, all who see it do not begin to mock at him,
30argaz-agi yebda lsas ur izmir ad ikemmel lebni.
30saying, This man began to build and was not able to finish?
31Neɣ anwa agellid ara yekkren ad innaɣ d ugellid nniḍen, ur ixeddem ara uqbel leḥsab iwakken ad iẓer ma yezmer ad iqabel s ɛecṛa alaf iɛsekṛiwen win i d-iteddun ɣuṛ-es s ɛecrin alef iɛsekriwen ?
31Or what king, going on his way to engage in war with another king, does not, sitting down first, take counsel whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him coming against him with twenty thousand?
32Ma iwala ur s-izmir ara, ad iceggeɛ ɣuṛ-es uqbel a d-yaweḍ, iwakken ad ifru yid-es tamsalt s lehna.
32and if not, while he is yet far off, having sent an embassy, he asks for terms of peace.
33S wakka, yiwen ur yezmir ad yili d anelmad-iw m'ur yeqbil ara ad yeǧǧ ayen akk yesɛa.
33Thus then every one of you who forsakes not all that is his own cannot be my disciple.
34Lmelḥ d ayen yelhan, lameɛna ma tṛuḥ-as lbenna-s amek ara s-ț-id-nerr ?
34Salt [then] [is] good, but if the salt also has become savourless, wherewith shall it be seasoned?
35Ur yelhi i wakal, ur yelhi i leɣbaṛ, ilaq kan a t-nḍeggeṛ ɣer beṛṛa. Win yesɛan imeẓẓuɣen isellen, isel-ed !..
35It is proper neither for land nor for dung; it is cast out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
