23

1Imiren Sidna Ɛisa yenṭeq ɣer lɣaci d inelmaden-is yenna yasen :
1Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to his disciples,
2Lɛulama d ifariziyen sselmaden ccariɛa n Musa.
2saying, The scribes and the Pharisees have set themselves down in Moses' seat:
3Xedmet ayen akk ara wen-d-inin, meɛna ur xeddmet ara wayen xeddmen nutni, axaṭer ayen i d-qqaṛen ur t-xeddmen ara.
3all things therefore, whatever they may tell you, do and keep. But do not after their works, for they say and do not,
4Țcuddun tiɛekkmin ẓẓayen țɛebbin-tent ɣef tuyat n yemdanen, ma d nutni țțagin a ten-ɛiwnen ula s yixef n iḍuḍan-nsen.
4but bind burdens heavy and hard to bear, and lay them on the shoulders of men, but will not move them with their finger.
5Ayen akk i xeddmen, xeddmen-t iwakken a ten-walin yemdanen, țɛelliqen tiḥerztin ț-țeɣṛisin ɣef yiman-nsen.
5And all their works they do to be seen of men: for they make broad their phylacteries and enlarge the borders [of their garments],
6Ḥemmlen ad ṭṭfen imukan imezwura ama di tmeɣṛiwin ama di leǧwameɛ, ḥemmlen m'ara țsellimen fell-asen yemdanen di tejmuyaɛ akk-d leswaq ;
6and love the chief place in feasts and the first seats in the synagogues,
7ḥemmlen daɣen m'ara sen-qqaṛen yemdanen : « a Sidi ».
7and salutations in the market-places, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.
8Ma d kunwi ɣuṛ-wat a wen qqaṛen : « a Sidi » axaṭer d atmaten i tellam yerna yiwen kan i d Ssid-nwen.
8But *ye*, be not ye called Rabbi; for one is your instructor, and all *ye* are brethren.
9Ur qqaṛet ula i yiwen di ddunit : « Baba » axaṭer anagar yiwen i d baba-wen, d Baba Ṛebbi yellan deg igenwan.
9And call not [any one] your father upon the earth; for one is your Father, he who is in the heavens.
10Ur qebblet ara aț-țețțusemmim : « imeqqranen » axaṭer anagar yiwen i d ameqqran : d Lmasiḥ !
10Neither be called instructors, for one is your instructor, the Christ.
11Ameqqran deg-wen, d win iqeddcen fell-awen.
11But the greatest of you shall be your servant.
12Kra n win issimɣuṛen iman-is a d-yers, ma d win issimẓiyen iman is ad ițwarfed !
12And whoever shall exalt himself shall be humbled, and whoever shall humble himself shall be exalted.
13A nnger-nwen ay ifariziyen d lɛulama n ccariɛa, ay at sin wudmawen ! AAxaṭer tmeddlem tiwwura n igenwan i yemdanen, ur tkeččmem kunwi, ur tețțaǧǧam ad kecmen wid yebɣan !
13But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye shut up the kingdom of the heavens before men; for *ye* do not enter, nor do ye suffer those that are entering to go in.
14A nnger-nwen ay ifariziyen d lɛulama n ccariɛa, ay at sin wudmawen ! Axaṭer tettețțem ayla n tuǧǧal, tesṭuqqutem awal di tẓallit-nwen iwakken a d-tesbegnem iman-nwen telham. Ɣef wayagi, lɛiqab i kkun-ițṛaǧun d ameqqran !
15Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye compass the sea and the dry [land] to make one proselyte, and when he is become [such], ye make him twofold more [the] son of hell than yourselves.
15A nnger-nwen ay ifariziyen d lɛulama n ccariɛa, ay at sin udmawen ! Tețnadim timura, tzeggrem lebḥuṛ iwakken a d-rebḥem ɣas ula d yiwen ɣer ddin i tettabaɛem; mi t-id-rnam ɣuṛ-wen, tețțaram-t d win yuklalen ǧahennama akteṛ-nwen !
16Woe to you, blind guides, who say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor.
16A nnger-nwen ay iderɣalen iteṭṭfen afus i wiyaḍ ! Teqqaṛem : « Ma yella yeggul bunadem s lǧameɛ iqedsen, ɣas yeḥnet ulac fell-as ; ma d win ara yegallen s ddheb yellan di lǧameɛ, ur s-ilaq ara ad iḥnet, ilaq ad iṭṭef di limin-ines ! »
17Fools and blind, for which is greater, the gold, or the temple which sanctifies the gold?
17Ay imehbal, ay iderɣalen ! D acu i gesɛan azal, d ddheb neɣ d lǧameɛ i gețțarran ddheb-nni d imqeddes ?
18And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gift that is upon it is a debtor.
18Teqqaṛem daɣen : « Win ara yegallen s udekkan n iseflawen, ɣas iḥnet ulac fell-as, ma d win ara yegallen s iseflawen nni, ur s-ilaq ara ad iḥnet, ilaq ad iṭṭef di limin-ines.»
19[Fools and] blind ones, for which is greater, the gift, or the altar which sanctifies the gift?
19Ay iderɣalen ! Anwa i gesɛan azal, d iseflawen neɣ d udekkan-nni i gerran iseflawen d imqedsen ?
20He therefore that swears by the altar swears by it and by all things that are upon it.
20Win ara yegallen s udekkan n iseflawen, yeggul s udekkan-nni d wayen akk yersen fell-as.
21And he that swears by the temple swears by it and by him that dwells in it.
21Win ara yegallen daɣen s lǧameɛ, yeggul s lǧameɛ akk-d Win i gellan deg-s.
22And he that swears by heaven swears by the throne of God and by him that sits upon it.
22Win ara yegallen s igenwan, yeggul daɣen s igenwan akk-d Sidi Ṛebbi iḥekkmen deg-sen.
23Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye pay tithes of mint and anise and cummin, and ye have left aside the weightier matters of the law, judgment and mercy and faith: these ye ought to have done and not have left those aside.
23A nnger-nwen ay ifariziyen d lɛulama n ccariɛa, ay at sin udmawen ! tețțakem leɛcuṛ ɣef nneɛneɛ, abesbas d lkemmun, lameɛna tețțaǧǧam ɣer deffir lḥeqq, ṛṛeḥma d laman. DD annect-agi i gețṛaǧu deg-wen Sidi Ṛebbi aț-țezwirem deg-sen a ten-txedmem, mbla ma terram deg idis ayen nniḍen.
24Blind guides, who strain out the gnat, but drink down the camel.
24Ay iderɣalen iteṭṭfen afus i wiyaḍ ! Tețṣeffim tissit-nwen ɣef yizi, tesseblaɛem alɣem.
25Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but within they are full of rapine and intemperance.
25A nnger-wen ay ifariziyen d lɛulama n ccariɛa, ay at sin wudmawen ! Axaṭer tessizdigem taqbuct d uḍebsi s ufella kan, meɛna ɣer daxel-nsen ččuṛen ț-țukeṛdiwin d ṭṭmeɛ.
26Blind Pharisee, make clean first the inside of the cup and of the dish, that their outside also may become clean.
26Ay afarizi aderɣal ! Ssizdeg uqbel daxel n teqbuct d uḍebsi, iwakken ula s ufella-nsen ad izdigen !
27Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye are like whited sepulchres, which appear beautiful outwardly, but within are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness.
27A nnger-nwen ay ifariziyen d lɛulama n ccariɛa, ay at sin udmawen ! TTețțemcabim ɣer iẓekwan isebɣen s lǧir ; s ufella cebḥen, ɣer daxel ččuṛen d iɣsan n lmegtin d rekku.
28Thus also *ye*, outwardly ye appear righteous to men, but within are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.
28Akka ula d kunwi, tețbegginem-d iman-nwen telham ɣer yemdanen, lameɛna zdaxel teččuṛem d leɣruṛ d cceṛ.
29Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets and adorn the tombs of the just,
29A nnger-nwen ay ifariziyen d lɛulama n ccariɛa, ay at sin wudmawen ! Tbennum iẓekwan n lenbiya, tețcebbiḥem iẓekwan n wid iḍuɛen Sidi Ṛebbi,
30and ye say, If we had been in the days of our fathers we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
30teqqaṛem lemmer i nɛac di zzman n lejdud-nneɣ, tili ur neqbil ara a nțekki yid-sen deg ussizel n idammen n lenbiya.
31So that ye bear witness of yourselves that ye are sons of those who slew the prophets:
31S wakka tețcehhidem belli kunwi ț-țarwa n wid ineqqen lenbiya
32and *ye*, fill ye up the measure of your fathers.
32yerna kunwi tețkemmilem ayen xedmen lejdud-nwen !
33Serpents, offspring of vipers, how should ye escape the judgment of hell?
33A ccetla n izerman ! Amek ara tmenɛem si lɛiqab n ǧahennama ?
34Therefore, behold, *I* send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes; and [some] of them ye will kill and crucify, and [some] of them ye will scourge in your synagogues, and will persecute from city to city;
34Daymi ara wen-d-ceggɛeɣ lenbiya, imusnawen akk-d lɛulama. KKra seg-sen a ten-tenɣem, kra a ten-tsemmṛem ɣef wumidag, kra nniḍen a ten-tejlekḍem di leǧwameɛ nwen yerna a ten-tețqehhiṛem si temdint ɣer tayeḍ.
35so that all righteous blood shed upon the earth should come upon *you*, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
35Ihi, idammen n iḥeqqiyen yuzzlen di lqaɛa, si Habil aḥeqqi mmi-s n Adem armi d Zakarya mmi-s n Birikya, i tenɣam ger lǧameɛ iqedsen d udekkan iseflawen, a d-uɣalen ɣer yiri-nwen.
36Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.
36A wen-d-iniɣ tideț : ayagi meṛṛa a d-yeɣli ɣef lǧil-agi !
37Jerusalem, Jerusalem, [the city] that kills the prophets and stones those that are sent unto her, how often would I have gathered thy children as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
37A tamdint n Lquds ! A tamdint n Lquds ineqqen lenbiya, ireǧǧmen wid i m-d-ițuceggɛen s ɣuṛ Ṛebbi, acḥal n tikkal i bɣiɣ a d-jemɛeɣ arraw-im akken tjemmeɛ tyaziṭ ifṛax-is ddaw wafriwen-is, meɛna tegummaḍ !
38Behold, your house is left unto you desolate;
38Ihi atan wexxam-im ad yexlu !
39for I say unto you, Ye shall in no wise see me henceforth until ye say, Blessed [be] he that comes in the name of [the] Lord.
39Axaṭer aql-i a wen-iniɣ : ur tețțuɣalem ara a yi-twalim, alamma d ass i deg ara d-tinim : Yețțubarek win i d-yusan s yisem n Sidi Ṛebbi !
