¹And Joseph hath been brought down to Egypt, and Potiphar, a eunuch of Pharaoh, head of the executioners, an Egyptian man, buyeth him out of the hands of the Ishmaelites who have brought him thither.

²Ary Jehovah nomba an'i Josefa, dia lehilahy nambinina izy; ary nitoetra tao an-tranon'ilay Egyptiana tompony izy.

²And Jehovah is with Joseph, and he is a prosperous man, and he is in the house of his lord the Egyptian,

³Ary hitan'ny tompony fa nomban'i Jehovah izy, ka izay rehetra natao­ny dia nambinin'i Jehovah avokoa teo aminy.

³and his lord seeth that Jehovah is with him, and all that he is doing Jehovah is causing to prosper in his hand,

⁴Ary Josefa nahita fitia teo imason'ny tompony, ka dia nanompo azy; dia notendreny ho mpikarakara ny tao an-tranony, ary izay rehetra nananany dia natolony ho andraikiny.

⁴and Joseph findeth grace in his eyes and serveth him, and he appointeth him over his house, and all that he hath he hath given into his hand.

⁵Ary hatramin'izay nanendreny azy ho mpikarakara ny tao an-tranony mbamin'izay rehetra nananany dia notahin'i Jehovah ny tranon'ilay Egyptiana noho ny amin'i Josefa; ary ny fitahian'i Jehovah nomba izay rehetra nananany, na ny tao an-trano, na ny tany an-tsaha.

⁵And it cometh to pass from the time that he hath appointed him over his house, and over all that he hath, that Jehovah blesseth the house of the Egyptian for Joseph`s sake, and the blessing of Jehovah is on all that he hath, in the house, and in the field;

⁶Dia navelany ho andraikitr'i Josefa izay rehetra nananany; ary izy tsy nihevitra intsony izay rehetra nananany na inona na inona afa-tsy ny hanin-kohaniny ihany. Ary Josefa dia bikàna sady tsara tarehy.

⁶and he leaveth all that he hath in the hand of Joseph, and he hath not known anything that he hath, except the bread which he is eating. And Joseph is of a fair form, and of a fair appearance.

⁷Ary taorian'izany ny vadin'ny tompony nanopy ny masony hijery an'i Josefa ka nanao hoe: Avia handry amiko.

⁷And it cometh to pass after these things, that his lord`s wife lifteth up her eyes unto Joseph, and saith, `Lie with me;`

⁸Dia nandà izy ka nanao tamin'ny vadin'ny tompony hoe: Indro, ny tompoko tsy mahalala izay tandremako ato an-trano, fa izay rehetra ananany dia efa natolony ho andraikitro avokoa.

⁸and he refuseth, and saith unto his lord`s wife, `Lo, my lord hath not known what [is] with me in the house, and all that he hath he hath given into my hand;

⁹Tsy misy lehibe noho izaho raha amin'ity trano ity, ary tsy misy zavatra narovany amiko afa-tsy ianao ihany, satria vadiny ianao; koa hataoko ahoana no hanao izany, ratsy lehibe izany ka hanota amin'Andriamanitra?

⁹none is greater in this house than I, and he hath not withheld from me anything, except thee, because thou [art] his wife; and how shall I do this great evil? — then have I sinned against God.`

¹⁰Ary na dia niteny tamin'i Josefa isan'andro aza ravehivavy, dia tsy nety nanaiky azy handry aminy izy na hiara-mitoetra aminy.

¹⁰And it cometh to pass at her speaking unto Joseph day [by] day, that he hath not hearkened unto her, to lie near her, to be with her;

¹¹Ary tamin'ny indray andro dia niditra tao an-trano Josefa hanao ny raharahany; ary sendra tsy nisy mpanompo tao an-trano tamin'izay.

¹¹and it cometh to pass about this day, that he goeth into the house to do his work, and there is none of the men of the house there in the house,

¹²Dia nisambotra azy tamin'ny akanjony ravehivavy ka nanao hoe : Avia handry amiko; fa navelan'i Josefa teo an-tànany ny akanjony, dia nandositra izy ka nivoaka teny ala-trano.

¹²and she catcheth him by his garment, saying, `Lie with me;` and he leaveth his garment in her hand, and fleeth, and goeth without.

¹³Ary rehefa hitan-dravehivavy fa navelany teo an-tànany ny akanjony, sady lasa nandositra any ala-trano izy,

¹³And it cometh to pass when she seeth that he hath left his garment in her hand, and fleeth without,

¹⁴dia niantso ny mpanompo izy ka nilaza taminy hoe: Indro, efa nampiditra lehilahy Hebreo tato amintsika hisangy antsika izy; nanatona ahy mba handry amiko iny, dia niantso tamin'ny feo mahery aho;

¹⁴that she calleth for the men of her house, and speaketh to them, saying, `See, he hath brought in to us a man, a Hebrew, to play with us; he hath come in unto me, to lie with me, and I call with a loud voice,

¹⁵ary nony reny fa nanandratra ny feoko aho ka niantso, dia navelany teto anilako ny akanjony, ary nandositra iny ka lasa any ala-trano.

¹⁵and it cometh to pass, when he heareth that I have lifted up my voice and call, that he leaveth his garment near me, and fleeth, and goeth without.`

¹⁶Dia napetra-dravehivavy teo anilany ny akanjon'i Josefa, mandra-pahatongan'ny tompony tao an-trano.

¹⁶And she placeth his garment near her, until the coming in of his lord unto his house.

¹⁷Dia nilaza taminy izy araka ireo teny ireo ka nanao hoe: Nanatona ahy ilay andevolahy Hebreo, izay nentinao ho eto amintsika, mba hisangy ahy;

¹⁷And she speaketh unto him according to these words, saying, `The Hebrew servant whom thou hast brought unto us, hath come in unto me to play with me;

¹⁸ary rehefa nanandratra ny feoko aho ka niantso, dia navelany eto anilako ny akanjony, ka lasa nandositra any ala-trano izy.

¹⁸and it cometh to pass, when I lift my voice and call, that he leaveth his garment near me, and fleeth without.`

¹⁹Ary rehefa ren'ny tompony ny tenin'ny vadiny, izay niteny taminy ka nanao hoe: Araka ireo teny ireo no nataon'ilay andevolahinao tamiko, dia nirehitra ny fahatezerany.

¹⁹And it cometh to pass when his lord heareth the words of his wife, which she hath spoken unto him, saying, `According to these things hath thy servant done to me,` that his anger burneth;

²⁰Ary ny tompon'i Josefa dia naka azy ka nanao azy tao an-trano-maizina, izay fitoeran'ny mpifatotra diso tamin'ny mpanjaka; dia nitoetra tao an-trano-maizina izy.

²⁰and Joseph`s lord taketh him, and putteth him unto the round-house, a place where the king`s prisoners [are] bound; and he is there in the round-house.

²¹Nefa Jehovah nomba an'i Josefa sy namindra fo taminy ka nampahita fitia azy teo imason'ny mpitandrina ny trano-maizina.

²¹And Jehovah is with Joseph, and stretcheth out kindness unto him, and putteth his grace in the eyes of the chief of the round-house;

²²Dia natolotry ny mpitandrina ny trano-maizina ho andraikitr'i Josefa ny mpifatotra rehetra izay tao an-trano-maizina; ary izay rehetra nataony tao dia izy no antony.Ny mpitandrina ny trano-maizina tsy mba nikarakara na inona na inona izay efa mby an-tànany, satria Jehovah nomba an'i Josefa, ary izay nataony dia nambinin'i Jehovah.

²²and the chief of the round-house giveth into the hand of Joseph all the prisoners who [are] in the round-house, and of all that they are doing there, he hath been doer;

²³Ny mpitandrina ny trano-maizina tsy mba nikarakara na inona na inona izay efa mby an-tànany, satria Jehovah nomba an'i Josefa, ary izay nataony dia nambinin'i Jehovah.

²³the chief of the round-house seeth not anything under his hand, because Jehovah [is] with him, and that which he is doing Jehovah is causing to prosper.
