1In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, hath a word of Jehovah been by the hand of Haggai the prophet, unto Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and unto Joshua son of Josedech, the high priest, saying:
2Izao no lazain'i Jehovah, Tompon'ny maro: Ity firenena ity nanao hoe: Tsy mbola tonga ny andro tokony hihaviana hanaovana ny tranon'i Jehovah.
2Thus spake Jehovah of Hosts, saying: This people! — they have said, `The time hath not come, The time the house of Jehovah [is] to be built.`
3Dia tonga ny tenin'i Jehovah nentin'i Hagay mpaminany nanao hoe:
3And there is a word of Jehovah by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying:
4Moa andro tokony hitoeran'ny tenanareo ao amin'ny tranonareo misy valin-drihana va izao, kanefa rava ity trano ity?
4Is it time for you — you! To dwell in your covered houses, And this house to lie waste?
5Koa izao no lazain'i Jehovah, Tompon'ny maro: Hevero ny lalanareo.
5And now, thus said Jehovah of Hosts, Set your heart to your ways.
6Efa namafy be ianareo, nefa kely no taomina: mihinana ianareo, nefa tsy voky; misotro ianareo, nefa tsy afa-po; mitafy ianareo, nefa tsy misy mafana; ary izay mahazo karama dia mahazo karama hatao an-kitapo loaka.
6Ye have sown much, and brought in little, To eat, and not to satiety, To drink, and not to drunkenness, To clothe, and none hath heat, And he who is hiring himself out, Is hiring himself for a bag pierced through.
7Izao no lazain'i Jehovah, Tompon'ny maro: Hevero ny lalanareo.
7Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: Set your heart to your ways.
8Miakara any an-tendrombohitra, ka makà hazo, ary ataovy ny trano, dia hankasitrahako izany, sady hankalazaina Aho, hoy Jehovah.[Na: amin'ny tany havoana]
8Go up the mountain, and ye have brought in wood, And build the house, and I am pleased with it. And I am honoured, said Jehovah.
9Nanampo be ianareo, kanjo indro, kely monja; ary nony notaominareo, dia notsofiko. Nahoana? hoy Jehovah, Tompon'ny maro. Satria efa rava ny tranoko, nefa ianareo samy mihazakazaka hanao ny tranonareo avy.
9Looking for much, and lo, little, And ye brought [it] home, and I blew on it, Wherefore? — an affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, Because of My house that is waste, And ye are running — each to his house,
10Ary noho izany dia ny aminareo no nitsaharan'ny lanitra tsy hampilatsaka ando sy nitsaharan'ny tany tsy hahavokatra.
10Therefore, over you refrained have the heavens from dew, And the land hath refrained its increase.
11Ary niantso ny fahamainana Aho hamely ny tany sy ny tendrombohitra sy ny vary sy ny ranom-boaloboka sy ny diloilo sy izay vokatry ny tany ary ny olona sy ny biby fiompy mbamin'izay rehetra efa nisasaran'ny tanana.
11And I proclaim draught on the land, And on the mountains, and on the corn, And on the new wine, and on the oil, And on what the ground doth bring forth, And on man, and on beast, And on all labour of the hands.`
12Ary Zerobabela, zanak'i Sealtiela, sy Josoa, zanak'i Jozadaka, mpisoronabe, mbamin'ny sisa rehetra amin'ny vahoaka, dia nihaino ny feon'i Jehovah Andriamaniny sy ny tenin'i Hagay mpaminany, araka ny nanirahan'i Jehovah Andriamaniny azy, ary natahotra teo anatrehan'i Jehovah ny olona.
12And Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and Joshua son of Josedech, the high priest, and all the remnant of the people, do hearken to the voice of Jehovah their God, and unto the words of Haggai the prophet, as Jehovah their God had sent him, and the people are afraid of the face of Jehovah.
13Ary nambaran'i Hagay, irak'i Jehovah, ny teny nampitondrain'i Jehovah ho amin'ny olona nanao hoe: Izaho no momba anareo, hoy Jehovah.
13And Haggai, messenger of Jehovah, in messages of Jehovah, speaketh to the people, saying: `I [am] with you, an affirmation of Jehovah.`
14Dia notairin'i Jehovah ny fanahin'i Zerobabela, zanak'i Sealtiela, governora any Joda, sy ny fanahin'i Josoa, zanak'i Jozadaka mpisoronabe, sy ny fanahin'ny sisa rehetra amin'ny vahoaka; ary dia avy izy ka nandrafitra ny tranon'i Jehovah, Tompon'ny maro, Andriamaniny,tamin'ny andro fahefatra amby roa-polo tamin'ny volana fahenina tamin'ny taona faharoa nanjakan'i Dariosa.
14And Jehovah doth stir up the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people, and they come in, and do work in the house of Jehovah of Hosts their God,
15tamin'ny andro fahefatra amby roa-polo tamin'ny volana fahenina tamin'ny taona faharoa nanjakan'i Dariosa.
15in the twenty and fourth day of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.
