¹Better [is] the poor walking in his integrity, Than the perverse [in] his lips, who [is] a fool.

²Tsy tsara raha tsy manam-pahalalana ny fanahy; Ary izay miezaka mosalahy dia ho diso lalana.

²Also, without knowledge the soul [is] not good, And the hasty in feet is sinning.

³Ny fahadalan'ny olona no mahasimba ny alehany, Ka amin'i Jehovah no sosotra ny fony.

³The folly of man perverteth his way, And against Jehovah is his heart wroth.

⁴Ny harena mahamaro sakaiza; Fa ny malahelo afoin'ny sakaizany.

⁴Wealth addeth many friends, And the poor from his neighbour is separated.

⁵Ny vavolombelona mandainga tsy ho afa-tsiny, Ary izay mamoaka lainga tsy ho afa-miala.

⁵A false witness is not acquitted, Whoso breatheth out lies is not delivered.

⁶Maro no mandambolambo andriana; Ary ny olona rehetra samy misakaiza amin'izay mpanome zavatra.

⁶Many entreat the face of the noble, And all have made friendship to a man of gifts.

⁷Ny malahelo dia halan'ny rahalahiny rehetra, Koa mainka fa ny sakaizany tsy hanalavitra azy va? Manandrandra amin'ny teny tsy misy izy.[Heb. manenjika teny tsy misy]

⁷All the brethren of the poor have hated him, Surely also his friends have been far from him, He is pursuing words — they are not!

⁸Izay mihary fahendrena no tia ny tenany, Ary izay mitandrina fahalalana hahita soa.

⁸Whoso is getting heart is loving his soul, He is keeping understanding to find good.

⁹Ny vavolombelona mandainga tsy maintsy hampijalina, Ary ny miteny lainga ho very.

⁹A false witness is not acquitted, And whoso breatheth out lies perisheth.

¹⁰Ny ho velona amin'ny fahafinaretana dia tsy tandrifiny ho an'ny adala, Koa mainka izay hanapahan'ny mpanompo ny zanak'andriana.

¹⁰Luxury is not comely for a fool, Much less for a servant to rule among princes.

¹¹Ny fahendren'ny olona manindry ny fahatezerany, Ary voninahitra ho azy ny tsy mamaly fahadisoana.

¹¹The wisdom of a man hath deferred his anger, And his glory [is] to pass over transgression.

¹²Ny fahatezeran'ny mpanjaka dia toy ny fieron'ny liona tanora: Fa ny fitiany kosa toy ny ando amin'ny ahitra.

¹²The wrath of a king [is] a growl as of a young lion, And as dew on the herb his good-will.

¹³Ny zanaka adala mahabe fahoriana ny rainy; Ary ny ady ataon'ny vehivavy dia toy ny rano mitete mandrakariva.

¹³A calamity to his father [is] a foolish son, And the contentions of a wife [are] a continual dropping.

¹⁴Trano sy harena no lova avy amin'ny ray; Fa ny vady hendry kosa dia avy amin'i Jehovah.

¹⁴House and wealth [are] the inheritance of fathers, And from Jehovah [is] an understanding wife.

¹⁵Ny hakamoana mahasondrian-tory, Ary ho mosarena ny olona malaina.

¹⁵Sloth causeth deep sleep to fall, And an indolent soul doth hunger.

¹⁶Izay mitandrina ny didy mitandrina ny ainy; Fa izay tsy mihevitra ny alehany dia ho faty.[Na: ny fanahiny]

¹⁶Whoso is keeping the command is keeping his soul, Whoso is despising His ways dieth.

¹⁷Izay miantra ny malahelo dia mampisambotra an'i Jehovah, Ary izay nomeny dia honerany kosa.

¹⁷Whoso is lending [to] Jehovah is favouring the poor, And his deed He repayeth to him.

¹⁸Faizo ny zanakao, fa mbola misy azo antenaina ihany, Nefa aza dia entim-po loatra, fandrao mahafaty azy.

¹⁸Chastise thy son, for there is hope, And to put him to death lift not up thy soul.

¹⁹Ny lozabe tsy maintsy hampijalina; Ary na dia vonjenao aza izy, dia mbola hanahirana anao ihany indray.

¹⁹A man of great wrath is bearing punishment, For, if thou dost deliver, yet again thou dost add.

²⁰Henoy ny saina atolotra, ary raiso ny fananarana, Mba ho hendry ianao amin'izay hiafaranao.[Na: any aoriana]

²⁰Hear counsel and receive instruction, So that thou art wise in thy latter end.

²²Fifaliana amin'ny olona ny manisy soa; Ary aleo ho malahelo toy izay ho mpandainga.

²²The desirableness of a man [is] his kindness, And better [is] the poor than a liar.

²³Ny fahatahorana an'i Jehovah no ahazoana fiainana; Izay manana izany tsy mba handry fotsy sady tsy hiharan-doza.

²³The fear of Jehovah [is] to life, And satisfied he remaineth — he is not charged with evil.

²⁴Ny malaina dia mangarona ny eo an-dovia amin'ny tànany, Nefa ny mampakatra azy ho amin'ny vavany dia tsy zakany.

²⁴The slothful hath hidden his hand in a dish, Even unto his mouth he bringeth it not back.

²⁵Kapohy ny mpaniratsira, dia ho hendry ny kely saina; Ary anaro ny manan-tsaina, dia hahalala fahendrena izy.

²⁵A scorner smite, and the simple acts prudently, And give reproof to the intelligent, He understandeth knowledge.

²⁶Izay mitohatoha amin-drainy sy mandroaka ny reniny Dia zanaka mahamenatra sy mahafa-baraka.

²⁶Whoso is spoiling a father causeth a mother to flee, A son causing shame, and bringing confusion.

²⁷Anaka, mitsahara tsy hihaino anatra Izay mampanalavitra anao ny tenin'ny fahalalana.[Na: Anaka, raha dia minia manalavitra ny tenin'ny fahalalana ianao, Dia mitsahara tsy hihaino anatra]

²⁷Cease, my son, to hear instruction — To err from sayings of knowledge.

²⁸Ny vavolombelona ratsy maniratsira ny fitsarana; Ary ny vavan'ny ratsy fanahy mitelina ny ratsy.Vonona ho amin'ny mpaniratsira ny fanamelohana, Ary ny kapoka ho amin'ny lamosin'ny adala.

²⁸A worthless witness scorneth judgment, And the mouth of the wicked swalloweth iniquity.

²⁹Vonona ho amin'ny mpaniratsira ny fanamelohana, Ary ny kapoka ho amin'ny lamosin'ny adala.

²⁹Judgments have been prepared for scorners, And stripes for the back of fools!
