¹An Instruction of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, to my law, Incline your ear to sayings of my mouth.

²Hiloa-bava hilaza fanoharana aho; hanonona teny saro-pantarina fony taloha aho.

²I open with a simile my mouth, I bring forth hidden things of old,

³That we have heard and do know, And our fathers have recounted to us.

⁴We do not hide from their sons, To a later generation recounting praises of Jehovah, And His strength, and His wonders that He hath done.

⁵Fa nanorina teni-vavolombelona teo amin'i Jakoba Izy, ary teo amin'Isiraely no nametrahany lalàna, izay nandidiany ny razantsika, hampahafantariny ny zanany;

⁵And He raiseth up a testimony in Jacob, And a law hath placed in Israel, That He commanded our fathers, To make them known to their sons.

⁶Mba hahafantatra izany ny taranaka ho avy - dia ny zaza mbola hateraka - ka hitsangana hitory izany amin'ny zanany kosa,

⁶So that a later generation doth know, Sons who are born, do rise and recount to their sons,

⁷And place in God their confidence, And forget not the doings of God, But keep His commands.

⁸Mba tsy ho tahaka ny razany, izay taranaka maditra sy miodina, izy, dia taranaka izay tsy nampiomana ny fony, sady tsy marina tamin'Andriamanitra ny fanahiny.

⁸And they are not like their fathers, A generation apostate and rebellious, A generation! it hath not prepared its heart, Nor stedfast with God [is] its spirit.

⁹Ny zanak'i Efraima, izay nitondra tsipìka hitifirany, dia niamboho tamin'ny andro fiadiana.

⁹Sons of Ephraim — armed bearers of bow, Have turned in a day of conflict.

¹⁰Tsy nitandrina ny fanekena amin'Andriamanitra izy, ary tsy nety nandeha araka ny lalàny;

¹⁰They have not kept the covenant of God, And in His law they have refused to walk,

¹¹Nanadino ny asany izy sy ny fahagagana izay nampahitàny azy.

¹¹And they forget His doings, And His wonders that He shewed them.

¹²Teo anatrehan'ny razany no nanaovany fahagagana tany amin'ny tany Egypta, dia tany amin'ny tany lemak'i Zoana.

¹²Before their fathers He hath done wonders, In the land of Egypt — the field of Zoan.

¹³Nampisaraka ny ranomasina Izy ka nitondra azy nita, dia nampijanona ny rano ho toy ny antontan-javatra.

¹³He cleft a sea, and causeth them to pass over, Yea, He causeth waters to stand as a heap.

¹⁴Ary ny rahona no nitondrany azy raha antoandro, sy afo mahazava nony alina.

¹⁴And leadeth them with a cloud by day, And all the night with a light of fire.

¹⁵Namaky vatolampy tany an-efitra Izy, ka nampisotro azy nanaram-po tahaka ny amin'ny rano lalina.

¹⁵He cleaveth rocks in a wilderness, And giveth drink — as the great deep.

¹⁶Ary nampivoaka rano mandriaka avy tamin'ny harambato Izy ka nampirotsaka rano ho tahaka ny ony.

¹⁶And bringeth out streams from a rock, And causeth waters to come down as rivers.

¹⁷Kanjo mbola nandroso nanota taminy ihany izy ireo, ka nampahatezitra ny Avo Indrindra tany an-efitra.

¹⁷And they add still to sin against Him, To provoke the Most High in the dry place.

¹⁸Dia naka fanahy an'Andriamanitra tam-pony izy, tamin'ny nilàny hanina araka ny nahaliana azy.

¹⁸And they try God in their heart, To ask food for their lust.

¹⁹Dia niteny nanohitra an'Andriamanitra izy ka nanao hoe: mahavelatra latabatra atỳ an-efitra va Andriamanitra?

¹⁹And they speak against God — they said: `Is God able to array a table in a wilderness?`

²⁰Indro, namely ny vatolampy Izy, dia nigororoana ny rano ka nandriaka; mahay manome mofo koa va Izy? Mahatonga hena ho an'ny olony va Izy?

²⁰Lo, He hath smitten a rock, And waters flow, yea, streams overflow. `Also — bread [is] He able to give? Doth He prepare flesh for His people?`

²¹Koa nony ren'i Jehovah izany, dia tezitra Izy; ary nisy afo nirehitra tamin'i Jakoba, sady nisy fahatezerana namely ny Isiraely,

²¹Therefore hath Jehovah heard, And He sheweth Himself wroth, And fire hath been kindled against Jacob, And anger also hath gone up against Israel,

²²Satria tsy nino an'Andriamanitra izy ireo ka tsy natoky ny famonjeny.

²²For they have not believed in God, Nor have they trusted in His salvation.

²³Kanefa nandidy ny rahona tany ambony Izy, ary ny varavaran'ny lanitra no novohàny,

²³And He commandeth clouds from above, Yea, doors of the heavens He hath opened.

²⁴Dia nandatsaka mana teny aminy hohaniny Izy, ary varin'ny lanitra no nomeny azy.

²⁴And He raineth on them manna to eat, Yea, corn of heaven He hath given to them.

²⁵Ny fihinan'ny mahery no nohanin'ny olona; nanaterany hanina hahavoky azy izy.

²⁵Food of the mighty hath each eaten, Venison He sent to them to satiety.

²⁶Nampandeha ny rivotra avy any atsinanana teny amin'ny lanitra Izy ary ny heriny no nitondrany ny rivotra avy any atsimo.

²⁶He causeth an east wind to journey in the heavens, And leadeth by His strength a south wind,

²⁷Dia nampilatsahany hena betsaka hoatra ny vovoka izy sy voro-manidina hoatra ny fasiky ny ranomasina,

²⁷And He raineth on them flesh as dust, And as sand of the seas — winged fowl,

²⁸Ka nalatsany teny afovoan'ny tobiny, manodidina ny fitoerany.

²⁸And causeth [it] to fall in the midst of His camp, Round about His tabernacles.

²⁹Dia nihinana izy ireo ka voky tsara, ary izay nilainy dia nomeny azy.

²⁹And they eat, and are greatly satisfied, And their desire He bringeth to them.

³⁰Nefa tsy niala tamin'ny filàny izy, ary mbola teo am-bavany ihany ny haniny;

³⁰They have not been estranged from their desire, Yet [is] their food in their mouth,

³¹Dia nirehitra taminy ny fahatezeran'Andriamanitra, ka nahafatesany ny tremalahy teo aminy, ary naripany ny zatovolahin'ny Isiraely.

³¹And the anger of God hath gone up against them, And He slayeth among their fat ones, And youths of Israel He caused to bend.

³²Fa na dia izany rehetra izany aza, dia mbola nanota ihany izy ireo ka tsy nino ny fahagagana nataony.

³²With all this they have sinned again, And have not believed in His wonders.

³³Dia nampahalevona ny androny toy ny fofonaina Izy, ary ny taonany tamin'ny fampitahorana.

³³And He consumeth in vanity their days, And their years in trouble.

³⁴Raha novonoiny izy ireo, dia nitady hahalala an'Andriamanitra izy, ary niverina nikatsaka Azy.

³⁴If He slew them, then they sought Him, And turned back, and sought God earnestly,

³⁵Dia nahatsiaro izy fa Andriamanitra no Vatolampiny, ary Andriamanitra Avo Indrindra no Mpanavotra azy.

³⁵And they remember that God [is] their rock, And God Most High their redeemer.

³⁶Kanefa nanao vava malefaka taminy ireo, ary ny lelany no nandaingàny taminy.

³⁶And — they deceive Him with their mouth, And with their tongue do lie to Him,

³⁷Ary ny fony tsy niorina taminy; eny tsy nitana ny fanekeny izy.

³⁷And their heart hath not been right with Him, And they have not been stedfast in His covenant.

³⁸Nefa Andriamanitra kosa be famindram-po, dia mamela heloka ka tsy mandringana; eny nahatsindry fo tokoa Izy, ka tsy nofohaziny avokoa ny fahavinirany,

³⁸And He — the Merciful One, Pardoneth iniquity, and destroyeth not, And hath often turned back His anger, And waketh not up all His fury.

³⁹Fa nahatsiaro Izy fa nofo ihany ireo, dia rivotra izay mandalo ka tsy miverina intsony.

³⁹And He remembereth that they [are] flesh, A wind going on — and it returneth not.

⁴⁰Impiry akory izy ireo no efa niodina taminy tany an-efitra, ka nampalahelo Azy tany amin'ny tany foana!

⁴⁰How often do they provoke Him in the wilderness, Grieve Him in the desolate place?

⁴¹Naka fanahy an'Andriamanitra mandrakariva izy, ka nampalahelo ny Iray Masin'ny Isiraely.

⁴¹Yea, they turn back, and try God, And the Holy One of Israel have limited.

⁴²Tsy mba nahatsiaro ny tànany izy, dia ny andro izay nanavotany azy tamin'ny fahavalo,

⁴²They have not remembered His hand The day He ransomed them from the adversary.

⁴³Izay nanaovany famantarana tany Egypta, sy fahagagana tany an-tany lemak'i Zoana:

⁴³When He set His signs in Egypt, And His wonders in the field of Zoan,

⁴⁴Nampody ny oniny ho rà Izy, ary ny reniranony tsy azony nisotroana.

⁴⁴And He turneth to blood their streams, And their floods they drink not.

⁴⁵Nandefa lalitra betsaka hamely azy Izy, ka nandany azy ireny, ary sahona, ka nanimba azy ireny.[Na: fihitra, na kalalao]

⁴⁵He sendeth among them the beetle, and it consumeth them, And the frog, and it destroyeth them,

⁴⁶Dia nanome ny vokatry ny taniny ho an'ny sompanga Izy, ary ny sasany ho an'ny valala.

⁴⁶And giveth to the caterpillar their increase, And their labour to the locust.

⁴⁷Namono ny voalobony tamin'ny havandra Izy, ary ny aviaviny tamin'ny havandra vaventy.

⁴⁷He destroyeth with hail their vine, And their sycamores with frost,

⁴⁸Dia nanolotra ny biby fiompiny ho an'ny havandra Izy, ary ny omby aman'ondriny ho an'ny varatra.

⁴⁸And delivereth up to the hail their beasts, And their cattle to the burning flames.

⁴⁹Nandatsaka ny fahatezerany mirehitra taminy Izy: eny, fahavinirana sy fahatezerana ary fampahoriana, dia anjely andiany mitondra loza.

⁴⁹He sendeth on them the fury of His anger, Wrath, and indignation, and distress — A discharge of evil messengers.

⁵⁰Namboatra lalana ho an'ny fahatezerany Izy, ary tsy niaro ny fanahin'ireo tamin'ny fahafatesana, fa nanolotra ny ainy ho lanin'ny areti-mandringana;

⁵⁰He pondereth a path for His anger, He kept not back their soul from death, Yea, their life to the pestilence He delivered up.

⁵¹Ary namely ny lahimatoa rehetra tany Egypta Izy, dia ny voalohan'ainy tany an-dain'i Hama;

⁵¹And He smiteth every first-born in Egypt, The first-fruit of the strong in tents of Ham.

⁵²Fa namindra toerana ny olony toy ny ondry Izy, ary nitondra azy tany an-efitra toy ny ondry andiany.

⁵²And causeth His people to journey as a flock, And guideth them as a drove in a wilderness,

⁵³Nentiny soa aman-tsara izy ireo ka tsy mba natahotra; fa ny fahavalony kosa voasaron'ny ranomasina.

⁵³And He leadeth them confidently, And they have not been afraid, And their enemies hath the sea covered.

⁵⁴Ary nitondra azy ho any amin'ny tany misy ny fitoerany masina Izy, dia ny tendrombohitra izay azon'ny tànany ankavanana.

⁵⁴And He bringeth them in unto the border of His sanctuary, This mountain His right hand had got,

⁵⁵Ary nandroaka ny jentilisa teo anoloany Izy, ka nanome ny tanin'ireny ho lova nozaraina tamin'ny famolaina, dia nampitoetra ny firenen'Isiraely tao an-dainy.

⁵⁵And casteth out nations from before them, And causeth them to fall in the line of inheritance, And causeth the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents,

⁵⁶Nefa naka fanahy an'Andriamanitra Avo Indrindra izy ka niodina taminy, ary ny teni-vavolombelony tsy notandremany.

⁵⁶And they tempt and provoke God Most High, And His testimonies have not kept.

⁵⁷Ary nihemotra izy ka nivadika tahaka ny razany. Dia nania tahaka ny tsipìka manjiona.

⁵⁷And they turn back, And deal treacherously like their fathers, They have been turned like a deceitful bow,

⁵⁸Ary nampahatezitra Azy tamin'ny fitoerana avony izy, sady nahasaro-piaro Azy tamin'ny sarin-javatra voasokitra.

⁵⁸And make Him angry with their high places, And with their graven images make Him zealous,

⁵⁹Ary nandre izany Andriamanitra, dia tezitra Izy ka nolaviny mihitsy ny Isiraely,

⁵⁹God hath heard, and sheweth Himself wroth. And kicketh exceedingly against Israel.

⁶⁰Sady nahafoy ny tabernakeliny tao Silo Izy, dia ny lay izay naoriny teo amin'ny olona;

⁶⁰And He leaveth the tabernacle of Shiloh, The tent He had placed among men,

⁶¹Dia natolony ho babo ny heriny ary ny voninahiny ho eo an-tànan'ny fahavalo.

⁶¹And He giveth His strength to captivity, And His beauty into the hand of an adversary,

⁶²Dia nanolotra ny olony ho an'ny sabatra Izy; ary tezitra Indrindra tamin'ny lovany Izy.

⁶²And delivereth up to the sword His people, And with His inheritance shewed Himself angry.

⁶³Ny zatovolahiny dia lanin'ny afo; ary ny zatovovaviny tsy mba nanaovana hiram-panambadiana.

⁶³His young men hath fire consumed, And His virgins have not been praised.

⁶⁴Ny mpisorony lavon-tsabatra, nefa ny mpitondratenan'ireo tsy nisaona.

⁶⁴His priests by the sword have fallen, And their widows weep not.

⁶⁵Dia nifoha ny Tompo tahaka ny anankiray avy natory, tahaka ny lehilahy mahery izay miantsoantso azon'ny divay.

⁶⁵And the Lord waketh as a sleeper, As a mighty one crying aloud from wine.

⁶⁶Dia namely ny fahavalony hiamboho Izy ka nahafa-baraka azy mandrakizay.

⁶⁶And He smiteth His adversaries backward, A reproach age-during He hath put on them,

⁶⁷Dia nanary ny lain'i Josefa Izy, ary ny firenen'i Efraima tsy nofidiny.

⁶⁷And He kicketh against the tent of Joseph, And on the tribe of Ephraim hath not fixed.

⁶⁸Fa nifidy ny firenen'i Joda kosa Izy, dia ny tendrombohitra Ziona izay tiany.

⁶⁸And He chooseth the tribe of Judah, With mount Zion that He loved,

⁶⁹Dia nanao ny fitoerany masina ho tahaka ny havoana Izy, tahaka ny tany izay naoriny ho mandrakizay.

⁶⁹And buildeth His sanctuary as a high place, Like the earth, He founded it to the age.

⁷⁰Dia nifidy an'i Davida mpanompony ka naka azy avy tany am-balan'ondry;

⁷⁰And He fixeth on David His servant, And taketh him from the folds of a flock,

⁷¹Tany amin'ny fiandrasany ny ondry ampianahana no nakàny azy, mba hiandry an'i Jakoba olony sy Isiraely lovany;Dia niandry ireo araka ny hitsin'ny fony izy, ka nitondra azy araka ny fahaizan'ny tànany.

⁷¹From behind suckling ones He hath brought him in, To rule over Jacob His people, And over Israel His inheritance.

⁷²Dia niandry ireo araka ny hitsin'ny fony izy, ka nitondra azy araka ny fahaizan'ny tànany.

⁷²And he ruleth them according to the integrity of his heart, And by the skilfulness of his hands leadeth them!
