1[Ny nandresen'i Saoly ny Amonita, sy ny nanavaozana ny fanjakana] Ary Nahasy Amonita niakatra ka nitoby tandrifin'i Jabesi-gileada; dia hoy ny mponina rehetra tao Jabesy tamin'i Nahasy: Manaova fanekena aminay, dia hanompo anao izahay.
1Then Nahash the Ammonite came up, and encamped against Jabesh Gilead: and all the men of Jabesh said to Nahash, “Make a covenant with us, and we will serve you.”
2Fa hoy Nahasy Amonita: Izao no hanaovako fanekena aminareo: hopotsirina ny masonareo ankavanana rehetra, ka hataoko fandatsana ny Isiraely rehetra izany.
2Nahash the Ammonite said to them, “On this condition I will make it with you, that all your right eyes be put out; and I will lay it for a reproach on all Israel.”
3Fa hoy ny loholon'i Jabesy taminy: Omeo andro hafitoana izahay, mba hanirahanay olona ho any amin'ny fari-tanin'ny Isiraely rehetra, ka raha tàhiny tsy misy olona hamonjy anay, dia hivoaka hanatona anao izahay.
3The elders of Jabesh said to him, “Give us seven day, that we may send messengers to all the borders of Israel; and then, if there is no one to save us, we will come out to you.”
4Dia tonga tany Gibean'i Saoly ny iraka ka nanambara ny teniny teo anatrehan'ny vahoaka; dia nanandratra ny feony ny vahoaka rehetra ka nitomany.
4Then the messengers came to Gibeah of Saul, and spoke these words in the ears of the people: and all the people lifted up their voice, and wept.
5Ary, indro, Saoly tonga nandroaka ny omby avy tany an-tsaha ka nanao hoe: Inona izato nanjo ny olona, no mitomany izy? Ary nambarany azy ny tenin'ny mponina tao Jabesy.
5Behold, Saul came following the oxen out of the field; and Saul said, “What ails the people that they weep?” They told him the words of the men of Jabesh.
6Dia nilatsaka tamin'i Saoly ny Fanahin'Andriamanitra, ka nirehitra mafy ny fahatezeran'i Saoly, raha nandre izany teny izany.
6The Spirit of God came mightily on Saul when he heard those words, and his anger was kindled greatly.
7Dia naka omby roa izy, ka norasainy ireo, dia nampitondrainy ny iraka ho any amin'ny fari-tanin'ny Isiraely rehetra ka nataony hoe: Na iza na iza tsy mivoaka hanaraka an'i Saoly sy Samoela, dia tahaka ireny no hanaovana ny ombiny. Dia nahazo ny olona ny fahatahorana an'i Jehovah, ka nivoaka toy ny olona iray ihany izy.
7He took a yoke of oxen, and cut them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the borders of Israel by the hand of messengers, saying, “Whoever doesn’t come forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done to his oxen.” The dread of Yahweh fell on the people, and they came out as one man.
8Ary nandamina azy tany Bezeka izy, dia telo hetsy no isan'ny Zanak'Isiraely, ary telo alina no isan'ny lehilahy amin'ny Joda.
8He numbered them in Bezek; and the children of Israel were three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah thirty thousand.
9Ary hoy izy tamin'ny iraka izay tonga teo: Izao no holazainareo amin'ny mponina ao Jabesi-gileada: Rahampitso ilay efa mafampana iny dia hisy famonjena ho anareo. Dia tonga ny iraka ka nanambara izany tamin'ny mponina tao Jabesy; ka dia faly ireo.
9They said to the messengers who came, “Thus you shall tell the men of Jabesh Gilead, ‘Tomorrow, by the time the sun is hot, you shall have deliverance.’” The messengers came and told the men of Jabesh; and they were glad.
10Ary hoy ny mponina tao Jabesy: Rahampitso no hivoahanay ho eny aminareo, dia hataonareo aminay izay rehetra sitrakareo.
10Therefore the men of Jabesh said, “Tomorrow we will come out to you, and you shall do with us all that seems good to you.”
11Ary nony maraina, dia nozarain'i Saoly ho telo toko ny olona, ka tonga teo amin'ny toby tamin'ny fiambenana maraina izy ary namely ny Amonita mandra-pahafampanan'ny andro; koa izay sisa dia niely patrana, ka tsy nisy olona tafaraka na dia hatramin'ny roa aza.
11It was so on the next day, that Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the camp in the morning watch, and struck the Ammonites until the heat of the day: and it happened, that those who remained were scattered, so that no two of them were left together.
12Ary hoy ny vahoaka tamin'i Samoela: Iza moa no nanao hoe: Saoly va no hanjaka aminay? Atolory ireny olona ireny hataonay maty.
12The people said to Samuel, “Who is he who said, ‘Shall Saul reign over us?’ Bring those men, that we may put them to death!”
13Fa hoy Saoly: Tsy hisy olona hatao maty anio; fa androany no nanaovan'i Jehovah famonjena teo amin'ny Isiraely.
13Saul said, “There shall not a man be put to death this day; for today Yahweh has worked deliverance in Israel.”
14Ary hoy Samoela tamin'ny vahoaka: Andeha isika hankany Gilgala hanavao ny fanjakana any.Dia lasa ny vahoaka nankany Gilgala; ary tany Gilgala no nananganany an'i Saoly ho mpanjaka teo anatrehan'i Jehovah; ary tany no nanaterany fanati-pihavanana teo anatrehan'i Jehovah, dia nifaly indrindra teo Saoly mbamin'ny lehilahy rehetra amin'ny Isiraely.
14Then Samuel said to the people, “Come, and let us go to Gilgal, and renew the kingdom there.”
15Dia lasa ny vahoaka nankany Gilgala; ary tany Gilgala no nananganany an'i Saoly ho mpanjaka teo anatrehan'i Jehovah; ary tany no nanaterany fanati-pihavanana teo anatrehan'i Jehovah, dia nifaly indrindra teo Saoly mbamin'ny lehilahy rehetra amin'ny Isiraely.
15All the people went to Gilgal; and there they made Saul king before Yahweh in Gilgal; and there they offered sacrifices of peace offerings before Yahweh; and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.
