1¶ He Mikitama na Rawiri. Tiakina ahau, e te Atua: e whakawhirinaki nei hoki ahau ki a koe.
1{Michtam of David.} Preserve me, O ùGod: for I trust in thee.
2Kua mea ahau ki a Ihowa, Ko koe toku Ariki, kahore oku pai i tua atu i a koe.
2Thou [my soul] hast said to Jehovah, Thou art the Lord: my goodness [extendeth] not to thee; --
3Ko te hunga tapu i runga i te whenua, te hunga pai rawa, kua ahau katoa toku ahuareka ki a ratou.
3To the saints that are on the earth, and to the excellent [thou hast said], In them is all my delight.
4Ka whakanuia nga mamae o te hunga e whakawhiti ana i a Ihowa mo tetahi atua ke: e kore e ringihia e ahau a ratou ringihanga toto, e kore ano o ratou ingoa e whakahuatia e oku ngutu.
4Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another: their drink-offerings of blood will I not offer, and I will not take up their names into my lips.
5Ko Ihowa te wahi i wehea mai moku, taku kapu hoki: ko koe te kaiwhakapumau i te wahanga maku.
5Jehovah is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.
6Kua takoto oku aho ki nga wahi ahuareka, ina, he wahi pai toku.
6The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.
7Ka whakapaingia e ahau a Ihowa, i whakamahara nei i ahau: ka whakaako ano hoki oku whatumanawa i ahau i te po.
7I will bless Jehovah, who giveth me counsel; even in the nights my reins instruct me.
8¶ Kua waiho tonu e ahau a Ihowa ki toku aroaro: kei toku ringa matau nei ia, e kore ahau e whakakorikoria.
8I have set Jehovah continually before me; because [he is] at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
9Koia i koa ai toku ngakau, i whakamanamana ai toku kororia, i takoto tumanako ai ano oku kikokiko.
9Therefore my heart rejoiceth, and my glory exulteth; my flesh moreover shall dwell in hope.
10No te mea e kore e waiho e koe toku wairua i te reinga, e kore e tukua tau Mea Tapu kia kite i te pirau.
10For thou wilt not leave my soul to Sheol, neither wilt thou allow thy Holy One to see corruption.
11Ka whakakitea mai e koe ki ahau te huarahi o te ora; kei tou aroaro te hari nui, kei tou matau nga ahuareka e kore e mutu.
11Thou wilt make known to me the path of life: thy countenance is fulness of joy; at thy right hand are pleasures for evermore.
