Darby's Translation

Psalms

38

1¶ He himene na Rawiri, hei whakamahara. E Ihowa, kaua e whakatupehupehu mai ki ahau ina riri koe, kaua ano ahau e pakia ina arita koe.
1{A Psalm of David, to bring to remembrance.} Jehovah, rebuke me not in thy wrath; neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
2Titi tonu hoki au pere ki ahau: kaha rawa te pehi a tou ringa i ahau.
2For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand cometh down upon me.
3Kahore he wahi ora o oku kikokiko, na tou riri hoki: kahore ano e ata takoto oku wheua, noku i hara nei.
3There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine indignation; no peace in my bones, because of my sin.
4Kua taupokina iho hoki toku matenga e oku kino: ano he pikaunga taimaha e pehi rawa ana i ahau.
4For mine iniquities are gone over my head: as a heavy burden they are too heavy for me.
5E piro ana oku whiunga, kua pirau i taku mahi poauau.
5My wounds stink, they are corrupt, because of my foolishness.
6E whakawiria ana ahau, piko rawa; e tangi haere ana i te roa o te ra.
6I am depressed; I am bowed down beyond measure; I go mourning all the day.
7Kei te tahuna hoki toku hope, kapi tonu: kahore hoki he wahi ora o oku kikokiko.
7For my loins are full of burning, and there is no soundness in my flesh.
8Kua kore oku kaha, maru rawa ahau: hamama ana taku aue i te mamae o toku ngakau.
8I am faint and broken beyond measure; I roar by reason of the agitation of my heart.
9E te Ariki, kei tou aroaro oku hiahia katoa; kahore hoki e ngaro i a koe taku aue.
9Lord, all my desire is before thee, and my sighing is not hid from thee.
10Kihakiha kau toku ngakau, kua hemo toku kaha: me te marama o oku kanohi, kua kore hoki ena oku.
10My heart throbbeth, my strength hath left me; and the light of mine eyes, it also is no more with me.
11Matara noa atu i toku mate te turanga mai o nga tangata i aroha mai ki ahau, o oku hoa hoki; i tawhiti ano oku whanaunga e tu ke mai ana.
11My lovers and mine associates stand aloof from my stroke; and my kinsmen stand afar off.
12¶ E whakatakoto mahanga ana moku te hunga e whai ana i ahau kia whakamatea; he nanakia ano nga kupu a te hunga e rapu ana i te he moku; he whakaaro tinihanga ano a ratou a pau noa te ra.
12And they that seek after my life lay snares [for me]; and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and meditate deceits all the day long.
13Ko ahau ia, i rite ki te turi, kihai i rongo, ki te tangata wahangu, kahore nei e hamamu tona mangai.
13But I, as a deaf [man], hear not; and am as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth.
14Na rite tonu ahau ki te tangata kahore nei e rongo, kahore nei he whakatupehupehu i tona mangai.
14Yea, I am as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no reproofs.
15E tumanako nei hoki ahau ki a koe, e Ihowa: ka whakahoki kupu mai ano koe, e te Ariki, e toku Atua.
15For in thee, Jehovah, do I hope: *thou* wilt answer, O Lord my God.
16I mea hoki ahau, Kei koa mai ratou ki ahau: ka paheke toku waewae, ka whakahihi ratou ki ahau.
16For I said, Let them not rejoice over me! When my foot slipped, they magnified [themselves] against me.
17Ko ahau hoki, meake kopa, a kei inua tonu i ahau toku pouri.
17For I am ready to halt, and my pain is continually before me.
18Ka whaki hoki ahau i toku kino, ka pouri mo toku hara.
18For I will declare mine iniquity, I am grieved for my sin.
19Ko oku hoariri ia hauhau tonu, kaha tonu; kua tokomaha ano te hunga e kino noa ana ki ahau.
19But mine enemies are lively, they are strong; and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied:
20He hoariri ano ki ahau te hunga e utu ana i te pai ki te kino: moku e whai ana i te pai.
20And they that render evil for good are adversaries unto me; because I pursue what is good.
21Kaua ahau e whakarerea, e Ihowa, e toku Atua; kei mamao atu koe i ahau.
21Forsake me not, Jehovah; O my God, be not far from me.
22Hohoro ki te awhina i ahau, e te Ariki, e toku whakaoranga.
22Make haste to help me, O Lord, my salvation.
