1¶ Kia kite koutou i te tikanga o te aroha i homai nei e te Matua ki a tatou, ara kia huaina tatou he tamariki na te Atua! he pera hoki tatou, koia te ao te matau ai ki a tatou, kahore hoki i matau ki a ia.
1Sehet, welch eine Liebe hat uns der Vater erzeigt, daß wir Gottes Kinder heißen sollen! Darum erkennt uns die Welt nicht, weil sie Ihn nicht erkannt hat.
2E nga hoa aroha, he tamariki tatou na te Atua inaianei; a kahore ano i kitea noatia he aha ranei tatou a mua: ia, ka rite tatou ki a ia; ka kite hoki tatou i a ia, i tona ahua ake ano.
2Geliebte, wir sind nun Gottes Kinder, und noch ist nicht offenbar geworden, was wir sein werden; wir wissen aber, daß, wenn Er offenbar werden wird, wir Ihm ähnlich sein werden; denn wir werden Ihn sehen, wie er ist.
3Na ki te mea kei tetahi tenei tumanako ki a ia, ka tahia atu e ia ona he, kia rite ai ki a ia kahore nei he he.
3Und ein jeglicher, der diese Hoffnung auf ihn hat, reinigt sich, gleichwie auch Er rein ist.
4¶ Ko te tangata e mea ana i te hara, he takahi tana i te ture: he takahi hoki te hara i te ture.
4Ein jeder, der Sünde tut, übertritt das Gesetz, und die Sünde ist die Gesetzesübertretung.
5E matau ana ano koutou i whakakitea mai ia hei waha atu i o tatou hara; kahore ano hoki he hara i roto i a ia.
5Und ihr wisset, daß Er erschienen ist, um die Sünden wegzunehmen; und in ihm ist keine Sünde.
6Ko te tangata e mau ana i roto i a ia e kore e hara: ko te tangata e hara ana, kahore i kite i a ia, kahore ano i matau ki a ia.
6Wer in Ihm bleibt, sündigt nicht; wer sündigt, hat Ihn nicht gesehen und nicht erkannt.
7E aku tamariki nonohi, kei whakapohehetia koutou e etahi: ko te tangata e mea ana i te tika, he tika ano ia, pera hoki me tera e tika ana.
7Kindlein, niemand verführe euch! Wer die Gerechtigkeit übt, der ist gerecht, gleichwie Er gerecht ist. Wer die Sünde tut, der ist vom Teufel; denn der Teufel sündigt von Anfang an.
8Ko te tangata e mea ana i te hara, no te rewera ia; he hara hoki to te rewera no te timatanga ra ano. Mo konei te Tama a te Atua i whakakitea mai ai, kia whakakahoretia ai e ia nga mahi a te rewera.
8Dazu ist der Sohn Gottes erschienen, daß er die Werke des Teufels zerstöre.
9Ko te tangata kua whanau i te Atua e kore e mea i te hara; no te mea e mau ana tana purapura i roto i a ia; e kore hoki e ahei i a ia te hara, no te mea kua whanau ia i te Atua.
9Keiner, der aus Gott geboren ist, tut Sünde; denn Sein Same bleibt in ihm, und er kann nicht sündigen, weil er aus Gott geboren ist.
10Ma konei ka kitea ai nga tamariki a te Atua me nga tamariki a te rewera: ko te tangata e kore e mahi i te tika, ehara ia i te Atua, me ia ano hoki e kore e aroha ki tona teina.
10Daran sind die Kinder Gottes und die Kinder des Teufels offenbar: Wer nicht Gerechtigkeit übt, der ist nicht von Gott, ebenso wer seinen Bruder nicht liebt.
11¶ Ko te korero hoki tenei i rongo ai koutou no te timatanga, kia aroha tatou tetahi ki tetahi.
11Denn das ist die Botschaft, die ihr von Anfang an gehört habt, daß wir einander lieben sollen;
12Kaua ra e pera me Kaina; no te wairua kino nei ia, a kohurutia ana e ia tona teina. Na te aha hoki ia i kohuru ai i a ia? No te mea he kino ana mahi, ko a tona teina ia he tika.
12nicht wie Kain, der von dem Argen war und seinen Bruder erschlug! Und warum erschlug er ihn? Weil seine Werke böse waren, die seines Bruders aber gerecht.
13Kaua e miharo, e oku teina, ki te kino te ao ki a koutou.
13Verwundert euch nicht, Brüder, wenn euch die Welt haßt!
14¶ E matau ana tatou kua whiti tatou i te mate ki te ora, no te mea e aroha ana tatou ki nga teina. Ko te tangata kahore e aroha ki te teina, e noho ana ia i roto i te mate.
14Wir wissen, daß wir aus dem Tode zum Leben gelangt sind; denn wir lieben die Brüder. Wer nicht liebt, bleibt im Tode.
15Ko te tangata e mauahara ana ki tona teina, he kaipatu tangata ia: ka matau hoki koutou, ko te kaipatu tangata kahore he ora tonu e mau ana i roto i a ia.
15Jeder, der seinen Bruder haßt, ist ein Totschläger; und ihr wisset, daß kein Totschläger ewiges Leben bleibend in sich hat.
16Na konei tatou i matau ai ki te aroha, i tuku atu hoki ia i a ia kia mate mo tatou: he tika ano kia tukua tatou e tatou ano ki te mate mo nga teina.
16Daran haben wir die Liebe erkannt, daß er sein Leben für uns eingesetzt hat; auch wir sind schuldig, für die Brüder das Leben einzusetzen.
17Ko te tangata ia ia ia nei nga oranga o tenei ao, a ka kite e matea ana tetahi mea e tona teina, na ka tutakina iho e ia tona ngakau aroha ki a ia, e mau pehea ana te aroha o te Atua i roto i a ia?
17Wer aber den zeitlichen Lebensunterhalt hat und seinen Bruder darben sieht und sein Herz vor ihm zuschließt, wie bleibt die Liebe Gottes in ihm?
18E aku tamariki nonohi, kaua e waiho ma te kupu, ma te arero te aroha; engari ma te mahi, ma te pono.
18Kindlein, lasset uns nicht mit Worten lieben, noch mit der Zunge, sondern in der Tat und Wahrheit!
19Ma konei hoki tatou ka matau ai no te pono tatou, ka whakau ai hoki i o tatou ngakau i tona aroaro.
19Daran erkennen wir, daß wir aus der Wahrheit sind, und damit werden wir unsre Herzen vor Ihm stillen,
20¶ Ki te mea ka whakahe mai o tatou ngakau i a tatou, nui atu te Atua i o tatou ngakau; e matau ana ano ia ki nga mea katoa.
20daß, wenn unser Herz uns verdammt, Gott größer ist als unser Herz und alles weiß.
21E nga hoa aroha, ki te kore o tatou ngakau e whakahe i a tatou, ka maia tatou ki te Atua;
21Geliebte, wenn unser Herz uns nicht verdammt, so haben wir Freimütigkeit zu Gott;
22A, ko te mea e inoia ana e tatou, ka homai e ia ki a tatou, no te mea e pupuri ana tatou i ana ture, e mea ana hoki i nga mea e ahuareka ana ki tana titiro.
22und was wir bitten, empfangen wir von ihm, weil wir seine Gebote halten und tun, was vor ihm wohlgefällig ist.
23¶ Ko tana ture ano tenei, kia whakapono tatou ki te ingoa o tana Tama, o Ihu Karaiti, kia aroha ano tetahi ki tetahi, kia rite ano ki te ture i homai e ia ki a tatou.
23Und das ist sein Gebot, daß wir glauben an den Namen seines Sohnes Jesus Christus und einander lieben, nach dem Gebot, das er uns gegeben hat.
24Na, ko te tangata e pupuri ana i ana ture, e mau ana i roto i a ia me ia ano i roto i a ia. na konei ano tatou i matau ai e mau ana ia i roto i a tatou, na te Wairua kua homai nei e ia ki a tatou.
24Und wer seine Gebote hält, der bleibt in Ihm und Er in ihm; und daran erkennen wir, daß Er in uns bleibt: an dem Geiste, den er uns gegeben hat.
