³Eure Augen haben gesehen, was der HERR wegen des Baal-Peor getan hat. Denn alle, die Baal-Peor nachwandelten, hat der HERR, dein Gott, aus deiner Mitte vertilgt!

⁴Aber ihr, die ihr dem HERRN, eurem Gott, anhinget, lebet alle heute noch.

⁵Siehe, ich habe euch Satzungen und Rechte gelehrt, wie mir der HERR, mein Gott, geboten hat, daß ihr also tun sollt im Lande, darein ihr kommen werdet, um es in Besitz zu nehmen.

⁶So behaltet sie nun und tut sie; denn das ist eure Weisheit und euer Verstand vor allen Völkern. Wenn sie alle diese Gebote hören, werden sie sagen: Wie ist doch dieses große Volk ein so weises und verständiges Volk!

⁷Denn wo ist ein so großes Volk, zu dem sich die Götter also nahen, wie der HERR, unser Gott, es tut, so oft wir ihn anrufen?

⁸Und wo ist ein so großes Volk, das so gerechte Satzungen und Rechte habe, wie dieses ganze Gesetz ist, das ich euch heute vorlege?

⁹Mau ia koe e tiaki, me tiaki marie ano tou wairua, kei wareware ki nga mea i kite ai ou kanohi, kei riro atu hoki i roto i tou ngakau, i nga ra katoa e ora ai koe; engari me whakaako au tama, me nga tama hoki a au tama ki ena mea;

⁹Nur hüte dich und bewahre deine Seele wohl, daß du die Geschichten nicht vergessest, die deine Augen gesehen haben, und daß sie nicht aus deinem Herzen kommen alle Tage deines Lebens; sondern du sollst sie deinen Kindern und Kindeskindern kundtun;

¹⁰was geschah an dem Tage, als du vor dem HERRN, deinem Gott, standest am Berge Horeb, als der HERR zu mir sprach: Versammle mir das Volk, daß ich sie meine Worte hören lasse, und damit sie mich fürchten lernen alle Tage ihres Lebens auf Erden, und damit sie die Worte auch ihre Kinder lehren.

¹²Und der HERR redete mit euch mitten aus dem Feuer. Die Stimme seiner Worte hörtet ihr, aber ihr sahet keine Gestalt, sondern vernahmet nur die Stimme.

¹³Und er verkündigte euch seinen Bund, den er euch zu halten gebot, nämlich die zehn Worte, die er auf zwei steinerne Tafeln schrieb.

¹⁴Und der HERR gebot mir zu jener Zeit, daß ich euch die Satzungen und Rechte lehre, die ihr tun sollt in dem Lande, darein ihr ziehet, um es einzunehmen.

¹⁵So bewahret nun eure Seelen wohl, weil ihr keine Gestalt gesehen habt an dem Tage, als der HERR aus dem Feuer heraus mit euch redete auf dem Berge Horeb;

¹⁶daß ihr nicht verderblich handelt und euch irgend ein gemeißeltes Bild machet, irgend eine männliche oder weibliche Figur,

¹⁷oder das Bild irgend eines Viehes, das auf Erden ist, oder eines Vogels, der am Himmel fliegt,

¹⁸oder das Bild eines Reptils, das auf dem Erdboden kriecht, oder der Fische, die im Wasser unter der Erde sind;

¹⁹Kei anga ake ranei ou kanohi ki te rangi, ka kite i te ra, i te marama ranei, i nga whetu, i te ope katoa o te rangi, na ka takina atu koe ki te koropiko atu ki ena mea, ki te mahi atu hoki ki ena mea, i tuwhaina mai nei e Ihowa, e tou Atua, mo nga iwi katoa i raro o te rangi, puta noa, puta noa.

¹⁹daß du deine Augen auch nicht gen Himmel hebest, und die Sonne und den Mond und die Sterne und das ganze Heer des Himmels beschauest und dich verführen lassest, sie anzubeten und ihnen zu dienen, die doch der HERR, dein Gott, allen Völkern unter dem ganzen Himmel zugeteilt hat.

²⁰Euch aber hat der HERR angenommen und aus dem eisernen Ofen, aus Ägypten, geführt, daß ihr sein Erbvolk sein solltet, wie es heute der Fall ist.

²¹Und der HERR war um euretwillen so zornig über mich, daß er schwur, ich sollte nicht über den Jordan gehen, noch in das gute Land kommen, das der HERR, dein Gott, dir zum Erbe gibt;

²²Engari ka mate ahau ki tenei whenua, e kore ahau nei e whiti i Horano: ko koutou ia ka whiti, ka tango hoki i taua whenua pai.

²²sondern ich muß in diesem Lande sterben und darf nicht über den Jordan gehen; ihr aber dürft hinübergehen und jenes gute Land einnehmen.

²³So hütet euch nun, daß ihr des Bundes des HERRN, eures Gottes, den er mit euch gemacht hat, nicht vergesset und euch nicht Bilder machet von irgend einer Gestalt, was der HERR, dein Gott, dir verboten hat.

²⁴Ko Ihowa hoki, ko tou Atua, he ahi e ki ana, he Atua hae ia.

²⁴Denn der HERR, dein Gott, ist ein verzehrendes Feuer, ein eifriger Gott.

²⁵E whanau au tamariki me nga tamariki a au tamariki, a ka roa to koutou noho ki te whenua, a ka taka koutou, ka hanga hoki i te whakapakoko ki te ahua o tetahi mea, a ka mahi i te mea e kino ana ki te titiro a Ihowa, a tou Atua, hei whakapatarita ri i a ia:

²⁵Wenn du nun Kinder und Kindeskinder zeugst und ihr alt werdet im Lande und verderblich handelt und euch Bilder machet von irgend einer Gestalt und vor dem HERRN, eurem Gott, Übles tut, daß ihr ihn erzürnet,

²⁶so rufe ich heute Himmel und Erde zu Zeugen wider euch an, daß ihr gewiß bald umkommen werdet in dem Lande, wohin ihr über den Jordan ziehet, um es einzunehmen; ihr werdet nicht lange darin wohnen, sondern sicherlich vertilgt werden!

²⁸Daselbst werdet ihr den Göttern dienen, die der Menschen Hände Werk sind, Holz und Stein, die weder sehen noch hören noch essen noch riechen.

²⁹Otiia ki te rapu koe i reira i a Ihowa, i tou Atua, na ka kitea e koe, ki te whakapaua katoatia tou ngakau me tou wairua ki te rapu i a ia.

²⁹Wenn du aber daselbst den HERRN, deinen Gott, suchen wirst, so wirst du ihn finden, ja wenn du ihn von ganzem Herzen und von ganzer Seele suchen wirst.

³⁰Ki te mate koe, a ka pono ki a koe enei mea katoa i nga ra a muri ake nei, ka hoki koe ki a Ihowa, ki tou Atua, ka whakarongo ano hoki ki tona reo;

³⁰Wenn du in der Not bist und dich alle diese Dinge treffen, so wirst du in den letzten Tagen zu dem HERRN, deinem Gott, umkehren und seiner Stimme gehorsam sein;

³¹He atua tohu hoki a Ihowa, tou Atua; e kore ia e whakarere i a koe, e kore ano hoki e whakangaro i a koe, e kore hoki e wareware ki te kawenata ki ou matua, i oati ai ia ki a ratou.

³¹denn der HERR, dein Gott, ist ein barmherziger Gott; Er wird dich nicht verlassen, noch verderben; Er wird auch des Bundes, den er deinen Vätern geschworen hat, nicht vergessen.

³²Ui atu hoki ki nga rangi onamata, o mua i a koe, o te ra i hanga ai e te Atua te tangata ki runga ki te whenua, i tetahi pito o te rangi paku noa ki tetahi pito o te rangi, i puta mai ranei tetahi mea hei rite mo tenei mea te nui, i rangona rane i he rite ki tenei?

³²Denn frage doch nach den früheren Zeiten, die vor dir gewesen sind, von dem Tage an, als Gott den Menschen auf Erden erschuf, und von einem Ende des Himmels bis zum andern, ob je ein solch großes Ding geschehen oder je dergleichen gehört worden sei:

³³Ob je ein Volk die Stimme Gottes gehört habe aus dem Feuer reden, wie du sie gehört hast, und dennoch lebe;

³⁴I whakamatau ranei te Atua te haere iho, te tango i tetahi iwi mana i waenganui i tetahi iwi ke, i runga i nga whakamatau, i nga tohu, i nga merekara, i te whawhai, i te ringaringa kaha, i te ringaringa maro, i nga whakawehi nui, i nga mea katoa i mea ai a Ihowa, to koutou Atua ki a koutou, ki to koutou aroaro i Ihipa?

³⁴oder ob je ein Gott versucht habe, hinzugehen und sich ein Volk mitten aus einem andern Volk zu nehmen durch große Prüfungen, durch Zeichen, durch Wunder, durch Kampf und durch eine mächtige Hand und durch einen ausgestreckten Arm und durch schreckliche, große Taten, wie das alles der HERR, euer Gott, mit euch in Ägypten vor deinen Augen getan hat?

³⁶Er hat dich vom Himmel her seine Stimme hören lassen, daß er dich unterwiese; und auf Erden hat er dir sein großes Feuer gezeigt, und du hast seine Worte aus dem Feuer gehört.

³⁷Und weil er deine Väter liebte, darum hat er ihren Samen nach ihnen erwählt und dich in eigener Person durch seine große Kraft aus Ägypten ausgeführt,

³⁸daß er vor dir her größere und stärkere Völker, als du bist, vertriebe, und dich in ihr Land führte und dasselbe dir zum Erbteil gäbe, wie es heute der Fall ist.

³⁹Na kia mohio koe i tenei ra, kia whakaaro hoki i roto i tou ngakau, ko Ihowa, ko ia te Atua i te rangi i runga, i te whenua hoki i raro; kahore ke atu.

³⁹So sollst du nun heute wissen und zu Herzen fassen, daß der HERR der alleinige Gott ist oben im Himmel und unten auf Erden, und keiner sonst.

⁴⁰Na kia mau ki ana tikanga, ki ana whakahau, e whakahaua nei e ahau i tenei ra ki a koe, hei pai hoki mou, mo au tama i muri i a koe, kia roa ai ou ra ki te whenua ka hoatu nei e Ihowa, e tou Atua ki a koe a ake tonu atu.

⁴⁰Darum beobachte seine Satzungen und seine Gebote, die ich dir heute gebiete, so wird es dir und deinen Kindern nach dir wohl gehen, und du wirst lange leben in dem Lande, das dir der HERR, dein Gott, gibt, für alle Zeiten.

⁴⁴Dies ist das Gesetz, das Mose den Kindern Israel vorlegte;

⁴⁵das sind die Zeugnisse, die Satzungen und Rechte, welche Mose den Kindern Israel sagte, als sie aus Ägypten gezogen waren,

⁴⁶diesseits des Jordan, im Tal, Beth-Peor gegenüber, im Lande Sihons, des Königs der Amoriter, der zu Hesbon wohnte, den Mose und die Kinder Israel schlugen, als sie aus Ägypten zogen, und dessen Land sie einnahmen,

⁴⁷samt dem Lande Ogs, des Königs zu Basan, der beiden Könige der Amoriter, die diesseits des Jordan waren, gegen Aufgang der Sonne;

⁴⁸O Aroera i te taha o te awa o Aranona, a Maunga Hiona, ara a Heremona,

⁴⁸von Aroer an, welche am Ufer des Arnon liegt, bis an den Berg Sion, das ist der Hermon.

⁴⁹Me te Arapaha katoa i tera taha o Horano, whaka te rawhiti, a tae noa ki te moana o te Arapaha, i raro iho i nga titahatanga o Pihika.

⁴⁹Und die ganze Ebene diesseits des Jordan, gegen Aufgang, bis an das Meer der Ebene unterhalb der Abhänge des Pisga.
