1യഹോവ ഏലീയാവെ ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റില് സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തിലേക്കു എടുത്തുകൊള്വാന് ഭാവിച്ചിരിക്കുമ്പോള് ഏലീയാവു എലീശയോടു കൂടെ ഗില്ഗാലില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു.
1It happened, when Yahweh would take up Elijah by a whirlwind into heaven, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.
2ഏലീയാവു എലീശയോടുനീ ഇവിടെ താമസിച്ചു കൊള്കയഹോവ എന്നെ ബേഥേലിലേക്കു അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എലീശാ അവനോടുയഹോവയാണ, നിന്റെ ജീവനാണ, ഞാന് നിന്നെ വിടുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവര് ബേഥേലിലേക്കു പോയി.
2Elijah said to Elisha, “Please wait here, for Yahweh has sent me as far as Bethel.” Elisha said, “As Yahweh lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” So they went down to Bethel.
3ബേഥേലിലെ പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യന്മാര് എലീശയുടെ അടുക്കല് പുറത്തുവന്നു അവനോടുയഹോവ ഇന്നു നിന്റെ യജമാനനെ നിന്റെ തലെക്കല്നിന്നു എടുത്തുകൊള്ളും എന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു അവന് അതേ, ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു; നിങ്ങള് മിണ്ടാതിരിപ്പിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
3The sons of the prophets who were at Bethel came out to Elisha, and said to him, “Do you know that Yahweh will take away your master from your head today?” He said, “Yes, I know it; hold your peace.”
4ഏലീയാവു അവനോടുഎലീശയേ, നീ ഇവിടെ താമസിച്ചുകൊള്ക; യഹോവ എന്നെ യെരീഹോവിലേക്കു അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു അവന് യഹോവയാണ, നിന്റെ ജീവനാണ, ഞാന് നിന്നെ വിടുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവര് യെരീഹോവിലേക്കു പോയി.
4Elijah said to him, “Elisha, please wait here, for Yahweh has sent me to Jericho.” He said, “As Yahweh lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” So they came to Jericho.
5യെരീഹോവിലെ പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യന്മാര് എലീശയുടെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു അവനോടുയഹോവ ഇന്നു നിന്റെ യജമാനനെ നിന്റെ തലെക്കല്നിന്നു എടുത്തുകൊള്ളും എന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു; അതിന്നു അവന് അതേ, ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു; നിങ്ങള് മിണ്ടാതിരിപ്പിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
5The sons of the prophets who were at Jericho came near to Elisha, and said to him, “Do you know that Yahweh will take away your master from your head today?” He answered, “Yes, I know it. Hold your peace.”
6ഏലീയാവു അവനോടുനീ ഇവിടെ താമസിച്ചുകൊള്ക; യഹോവ എന്നെ യോര്ദ്ദാങ്കലേക്കു അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അതിന്നു അവന് യഹോവയാണ, നിന്റെ ജീവനാണ, ഞാന് നിന്നെ വിടുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവര് ഇരുവരുംകൂടെ പോയി.
6Elijah said to him, “Please wait here, for Yahweh has sent me to the Jordan.” He said, “As Yahweh lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” They both went on.
7പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യന്മാരില് അമ്പതുപേര് ചെന്നു അവര്ക്കെതിരെ ദൂരത്തു നിന്നു; അവര് ഇരുവരും യോര്ദ്ദാന്നരികെ നിന്നു.
7Fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood opposite them at a distance; and they both stood by the Jordan.
8അപ്പോള് ഏലീയാവു തന്റെ പുതപ്പു എടുത്തു മടക്കി വെള്ളത്തെ അടിച്ചു; അതു അങ്ങോട്ടും ഇങ്ങോട്ടും പിരിഞ്ഞു; അങ്ങനെ അവര് ഇരുവരും ഉണങ്ങിയ നിലത്തുകൂടി അക്കരെക്കു കടന്നു.
8Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and struck the waters, and they were divided here and there, so that they two went over on dry ground.
9അവര് അക്കരെ കടന്നശേഷം ഏലീയാവു എലീശയോടുഞാന് നിങ്കല്നിന്നു എടുത്തുകൊള്ളപ്പെടുംമുമ്പെ ഞാന് നിനക്കു എന്തു ചെയ്തു തരേണം? ചോദിച്ചുകൊള്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു എലീശാനിന്റെ ആത്മാവില് ഇരട്ടി പങ്കു എന്റെമേല് വരുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
9It happened, when they had gone over, that Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask what I shall do for you, before I am taken from you.” Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be on me.”
10അതിന്നു അവന് നീ പ്രയാസമുള്ള കാര്യമാകുന്നു ചോദിച്ചതു; ഞാന് നിങ്കല്നിന്നു എടുത്തുകൊള്ളപ്പെടുമ്പോള് നീ എന്നെ കാണുന്നുവെങ്കില് നിനക്കു അങ്ങനെ ഉണ്ടാകും; അല്ലെന്നുവരികില് ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
10He said, “You have asked a hard thing. If you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so.”
11അവര് സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു നടക്കുമ്പോള് അഗ്നിരഥവും അഗ്ന്യശ്വങ്ങളും വന്നു അവരെ തമ്മില് വേര്പിരിച്ചു; അങ്ങനെ ഏലീയാവു ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റില് സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തിലേക്കു കയറി.
11It happened, as they still went on, and talked, that behold, a chariot of fire and horses of fire separated them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
12എലീശാ അതു കണ്ടിട്ടുഎന്റെ പിതാവേ, എന്റെ പിതാവേ, യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ തേരും തേരാളികളും എന്നു നിലവിളിച്ചു, പിന്നെ അവനെ കണ്ടില്ല; അപ്പോള് അവന് തന്റെ വസ്ത്രം പിടിച്ചു രണ്ടു ഖണ്ഡമായി കീറിക്കളഞ്ഞു.
12Elisha saw it, and he cried, “My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and its horsemen!” He saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and tore them in two pieces.
13പിന്നെ അവന് ഏലീയാവിന്മേല്നിന്നു വീണ പുതപ്പു എടുത്തു മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു യോര്ദ്ദാന്നരികെ നിന്നു.
13He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of the Jordan.
14ഏലീയാവിന്മേല്നിന്നു വീണ പുതപ്പുകൊണ്ടു അവന് വെള്ളത്തെ അടിച്ചുഏലീയാവിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ എവിടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് വെള്ളത്തെ അടിച്ചപ്പോള് അതു അങ്ങോട്ടും ഇങ്ങോട്ടും പിരിഞ്ഞു. എലീശാ ഇക്കരെക്കു കടന്നു.
14He took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and struck the waters, and said, “Where is Yahweh, the God of Elijah?” When he also had struck the waters, they were divided here and there; and Elisha went over.
15യെരീഹോവില് അവന്നെതിരെ നിന്നിരുന്നു പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യന്മാര് അവനെ കണ്ടിട്ടുഏലീയാവിന്റെ ആത്മാവു എലീശയുടെ മേല് അധിവസിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ എതിരേറ്റുചെന്നു അവന്റെ മുമ്പില് സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു.
15When the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho over against him saw him, they said, “The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” They came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.
16അവര് അവനോടുഇതാ, അടിയങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ അമ്പതു ബലശാലികള് ഉണ്ടു; അവര് ചെന്നു നിന്റെ യജമാനനെ അന്വേഷിക്കട്ടെ; പക്ഷേ യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവു അവനെ എടുത്തു വല്ല മലയിലോ താഴ്വരയിലോ എങ്ങാനും ഇട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടായിരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു അവന് നിങ്ങള് അയക്കരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
16They said to him, “See now, there are with your servants fifty strong men. Please let them go and seek your master. Perhaps the Spirit of Yahweh has taken him up, and put him on some mountain, or into some valley. He said, “You shall not send them.”
17അവര് അവനെ അത്യന്തം നിര്ബ്ബന്ധിച്ചപ്പോള് അവന് എന്നാല് അയച്ചുകൊള്വിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവര് അമ്പതുപേരെ അയച്ചു; അവര് മൂന്നുദിവസം അന്വേഷിച്ചിട്ടും അവനെ കണ്ടെത്തിയില്ല.
17When they urged him until he was ashamed, he said, “Send them.” They sent therefore fifty men; and they searched for three days, but didn’t find him.
18അവന് യെരീഹോവില് പാര്ത്തിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവര് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് മടങ്ങിവന്നു; അവന് അവരോടുപോകരുതു എന്നു ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞില്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
18They came back to him, while he stayed at Jericho; and he said to them, “Didn’t I tell you, ‘Don’t go?’”
19അനന്തരം ആ പട്ടണക്കാര് എലീശയോടുഈ പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ ഇരിപ്പു മനോഹരമായതെന്നു യജമാനന് കാണുന്നുവല്ലോ; എന്നാല് വെള്ളം ചീത്തയും ദേശം ഗര്ഭനാശകവും ആകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
19The men of the city said to Elisha, “Behold, please, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the land miscarries.”
20അതിന്നു അവന് ഒരു പുതിയ തളിക കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അതില് ഉപ്പു ഇടുവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവര് അതു അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
20He said, “Bring me a new jar, and put salt in it.” They brought it to him.
21അവന് നീരുറവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു അതില് ഉപ്പു ഇട്ടു. ഞാന് ഈ വെള്ളം പഥ്യമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇനി ഇതിനാല് മരണവും ഗര്ഭനാശവും ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
21He went out to the spring of the waters, and threw salt into it, and said, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘I have healed these waters. There shall not be from there any more death or miscarrying.’”
22എലീശാ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ആ വെള്ളം ഇന്നുവരെ പഥ്യമായിത്തന്നേ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.
22So the waters were healed to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spoke.
23പിന്നെ അവന് അവിടെനിന്നു ബേഥേലിലേക്കു പോയി; അവന് വഴിയില് നടക്കുമ്പോള് ബാലന്മാര് പട്ടണത്തില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു വന്നു അവനെ പരിഹസിച്ചു അവനോടുമൊട്ടത്തലയാ, കയറി വാ; മൊട്ടത്തലയാ, കയറി വാ; എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
23He went up from there to Bethel. As he was going up by the way, some youths came out of the city and mocked him, and said to him, “Go up, you baldy! Go up, you baldhead!”
24അവന് പിന്നോക്കം തിരിഞ്ഞു അവനെ നോക്കി യഹോവനാമത്തില് അവരെ ശപിച്ചു; അപ്പോള് കാട്ടില്നിന്നു രണ്ടു പെണ്കരടി ഇറങ്ങിവന്നു അവരില് നാല്പത്തിരണ്ടു ബാലന്മാരെ കീറിക്കളഞ്ഞു.
24He looked behind him and saw them, and cursed them in the name of Yahweh. Two female bears came out of the woods, and mauled forty-two of those youths.
25അവന് അവിടംവിട്ടു കര്മ്മേല്പര്വ്വതത്തിലേക്കു പോയി; അവിടെനിന്നു ശമര്യ്യയിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോന്നു.
25He went from there to Mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria.
