1പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, ഞാന്‍ ഇപ്പോള്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു എഴുതുന്നതു രണ്ടാം ലേഖനമല്ലോ.
1This is now, beloved, the second letter that I have written to you; and in both of them I stir up your sincere mind by reminding you;
2വിശുദ്ധ പ്രവാചകന്മാര്‍ മുന്‍ പറഞ്ഞ വചനങ്ങളും നിങ്ങളുടെ അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാര്‍ മുഖാന്തരം കര്‍ത്താവും രക്ഷിതാവുമായവന്‍ തന്ന കല്പനയും ഔര്‍ത്തുകൊള്ളേണമെന്നു ഈ ലേഖനം രണ്ടിനാലും ഞാന്‍ നിങ്ങളെ ഔര്‍മ്മപ്പെടുത്തി നിങ്ങളുടെ പരമാര്‍ത്ഥമനസ്സു ഉണര്‍ത്തുന്നു.
2that you should remember the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and the commandments of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior:
3അവന്റെ പ്രത്യക്ഷതയുടെ വാഗ്ദത്തം എവിടെ?
3knowing this first, that in the last days mockers will come, walking after their own lusts,
4പിതാക്കന്മാര്‍ നിദ്രകൊണ്ടശേഷം സകലവും സൃഷ്ടിയുടെ ആരംഭത്തില്‍ ഇരുന്നതുപോലെ തന്നേ ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു സ്വന്തമോഹങ്ങളെ അനുസരിച്ചുനടക്കുന്ന പരിഹാസികള്‍ പരിഹാസത്തോടെ അന്ത്യകാലത്തു വരുമെന്നു വിശേഷാല്‍ അറിഞ്ഞുകൊള്‍വിന്‍ .
4and saying, “Where is the promise of his coming? For, from the day that the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.”
5ആകാശവും വെള്ളത്തില്‍നിന്നും വെള്ളത്താലും ഉളവായ ഭൂമിയും പണ്ടു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വചനത്താല്‍ ഉണ്ടായി എന്നും
5For this they willfully forget, that there were heavens from of old, and an earth formed out of water and amid water, by the word of God;
6അതിനാല്‍ അന്നുള്ള ലോകം ജലപ്രളയത്തില്‍ മുങ്ങി നശിച്ചു എന്നും
6by which means the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished.
7ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ ആകാശവും ഭൂമിയും അതേ വചനത്താല്‍ തീക്കായി സൂക്ഷിച്ചും ന്യായവിധിയും ഭക്തികെട്ട മനുഷ്യരുടെ നാശവും സംഭവിപ്പാനുള്ള ദിവസത്തേക്കു കാത്തുമിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നും അവര്‍ മനസ്സോടെ മറന്നുകളയുന്നു.
7But the heavens that now are, and the earth, by the same word have been stored up for fire, being reserved against the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
8എന്നാല്‍ പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, കര്‍ത്താവിന്നു ഒരു ദിവസം ആയിരം സംവത്സരംപോലെയും ആയിരം സംവത്സരം ഒരു ദിവസംപോലെയും ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നീ കാര്‍യ്യം നിങ്ങള്‍ മറക്കരുതു.
8But don’t forget this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9ചിലര്‍ താമസം എന്നു വിചാരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ കര്‍ത്താവു തന്റെ വാഗ്ദത്തം നിവര്‍ത്തിപ്പാന്‍ താമസിക്കുന്നില്ല. ആരും നശിച്ചുപോകാതെ എല്ലാവരും മാനസാന്തരപ്പെടുവാന്‍ അവന്‍ ഇച്ഛിച്ചു നിങ്ങളോടു ദീര്‍ഘക്ഷമ കാണിക്കുന്നതേയുള്ളു.
9The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ ദിവസമോ കള്ളനെപ്പോലെ വരും. അന്നു ആകാശം കൊടുമ്മുഴക്കത്തോടെ ഒഴിഞ്ഞു പോകും; മൂലപദാര്‍ത്ഥങ്ങള്‍ കത്തിയഴികയും ഭൂമിയും അതിലുള്ള പണികളും വെന്തുപോകയും ചെയ്യും.
10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.
11ഇങ്ങനെ ഇവ ഒക്കെയും അഴിവാനുള്ളതായിരിക്കയാല്‍ ആകാശം ചുട്ടഴിവാനും മൂലപദാര്‍ത്ഥങ്ങള്‍ വെന്തുരുകുവാനും ഉള്ള ദൈവദിവസത്തിന്റെ വരവു കാത്തിരുന്നും ബദ്ധപ്പെടുത്തിയുംകൊണ്ടു
11Therefore since all these things will be destroyed like this, what kind of people ought you to be in holy living and godliness,
12നിങ്ങള്‍ എത്ര വിശുദ്ധജീവനവും ഭക്തിയും ഉള്ളവര്‍ ആയിരിക്കേണം.
12looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, which will cause the burning heavens to be dissolved, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?
13എന്നാല്‍ നാം അവന്റെ വാഗ്ദത്തപ്രകാരം നീതി വസിക്കുന്ന പുതിയ ആകാശത്തിന്നും പുതിയ ഭൂമിക്കുമായിട്ടു കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
13But, according to his promise, we look for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.
14അതുകൊണ്ടു പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, നിങ്ങള്‍ ഇവെക്കായി കാത്തിരിക്കയാല്‍ അവന്‍ നിങ്ങളെ കറയും കളങ്കവും ഇല്ലാത്തവരായി സമാധാനത്തോടെ കാണ്മാന്‍ ഉത്സാഹിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു നമ്മുടെ കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ ദീര്‍ഘക്ഷമയെ രക്ഷ എന്നു വിചാരിപ്പിന്‍ .
14Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for these things, be diligent to be found in peace, without blemish and blameless in his sight.
15അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ നമ്മുടെ പ്രിയ സഹോദരനായ പൌലൊസും തനിക്കു ലഭിച്ച ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്നു തക്കവണ്ണം നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കും ഇതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു സംസാരിക്കുന്ന സകല ലേഖനങ്ങളിലും എഴുതീട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ.
15Regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given to him, wrote to you;
16അവയില്‍ ഗ്രഹിപ്പാന്‍ പ്രയാസമുള്ളതു ചിലതുണ്ടു. അറിവില്ലാത്തവരും അസ്ഥിരന്മാരുമായവര്‍ ശേഷം തിരുവെഴുത്തുകളെപ്പോലെ അതും തങ്ങളുടെ നാശത്തിന്നായി കോട്ടിക്കളയുന്നു.
16as also in all of his letters, speaking in them of these things. In those, there are some things that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unsettled twist, as they also do to the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.
17എന്നാല്‍ പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, നിങ്ങള്‍ മുമ്പുകൂട്ടി അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു അധര്‍മ്മികളുടെ വഞ്ചനയില്‍ കുടുങ്ങി സ്വന്ത സ്ഥിരതവിട്ടു വീണു പോകാതിരിപ്പാന്‍ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊള്‍വിന്‍ ,
17You therefore, beloved, knowing these things beforehand, beware, lest being carried away with the error of the wicked, you fall from your own steadfastness.
18കൃപയിലും നമ്മുടെ കര്‍ത്താവും രക്ഷിതാവുമായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ പരിജ്ഞാനത്തിലും വളരുവിന്‍ . അവന്നു ഇപ്പോഴും എന്നെന്നേക്കും മഹത്വം. ആമേന്‍ .
18But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.
