1അനന്തരം അബ്ശാലോം ഒരു രഥത്തെയും കുതിരകളെയും തന്റെ മുമ്പില് ഔടുവാന് അമ്പതു അകമ്പടികളെയും സമ്പാദിച്ചു.
1It happened after this, that Absalom prepared him a chariot and horses, and fifty men to run before him.
2അബ്ശാലോം അതികാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു പടിവാതില്ക്കല് വഴിയരികെ നിലക്കും; ആരെങ്കിലും വ്യവഹാരം ഉണ്ടായിട്ടു രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വിസ്താരത്തിന്നായി വരുമ്പോള് അബ്ശാലോം അവനെ വിളിച്ചുനീ ഏതു പട്ടണക്കാരന് എന്നു ചോദിക്കും; അടിയന് യിസ്രായേലില് ഇന്ന ഗോത്രക്കാരന് എന്നു അവന് പറയുമ്പോള്
2Absalom rose up early, and stood beside the way of the gate. It was so, that when any man had a suit which should come to the king for judgment, then Absalom called to him, and said, “What city are you from?” He said, “Your servant is of one of the tribes of Israel.”
3അബ്ശാലോം അവനോടുനിന്റെ കാര്യം ന്യായവും നേരുമുള്ളതു; എങ്കിലും നിന്റെ കാര്യം കേള്പ്പാന് രാജാവു ആരെയും കല്പിച്ചാക്കീട്ടില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറയും.
3Absalom said to him, “Behold, your matters are good and right; but there is no man deputized by the king to hear you.”
4ഹാ, വഴക്കും വ്യവഹാരവും ഉള്ളവരൊക്കെയും എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നിട്ടു ഞാന് അവര്ക്കും ന്യായം തീര്പ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം എന്നെ രാജ്യത്തു ന്യായാധിപനാക്കിയെങ്കില് കൊള്ളായിരുന്നു എന്നും അബ്ശാലോം പറയും.
4Absalom said moreover, “Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man who has any suit or cause might come to me, and I would do him justice!”
5ആരെങ്കിലും അവനെ നമസ്കരിപ്പാന് അടുത്തു ചെന്നാല് അവന് കൈ നീട്ടി അവനെ പിടിച്ചു ചുംബനം ചെയ്യും.
5It was so, that when any man came near to do him obeisance, he put forth his hand, and took hold of him, and kissed him.
6രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ന്യായവിസ്താരത്തിന്നു വരുന്ന എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിനോടും അബ്ശാലോം ഇവ്വണ്ണം തന്നേ ചെയ്തു; അങ്ങനെ അബ്ശാലോം യിസ്രായേല്യരുടെ ഹൃദയം വശീകരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
6Absalom did this sort of thing to all Israel who came to the king for judgment. So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.
7നാലുസംവത്സരം കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോള് അബ്ശാലോം രാജാവിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഞാന് യഹോവേക്കു നേര്ന്ന ഒരു നേര്ച്ച ഹെബ്രോനില് ചെന്നു കഴിപ്പാന് അനുവാദം തരേണമേ.
7It happened at the end of forty years, that Absalom said to the king, “Please let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed to Yahweh, in Hebron.
8യഹോവ എന്നെ യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു മടക്കിവരുത്തിയാല് യഹോവേക്കു ഒരു ആരാധന കഴിക്കും എന്നു അടിയന് അരാമിലെ ഗെശൂരില് പാര്ത്ത കാലം ഒരു നേര്ച്ച നേര്ന്നിരുന്നു.
8For your servant vowed a vow while I stayed at Geshur in Syria, saying, ‘If Yahweh shall indeed bring me again to Jerusalem, then I will serve Yahweh.’”
9രാജാവു അവനോടുസമാധാനത്തോടെ പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഹെബ്രോനിലേക്കു പോയി.
9The king said to him, “Go in peace.” So he arose, and went to Hebron.
10എന്നാല് അബ്ശാലോം യിസ്രായേല്ഗോത്രങ്ങളില് എല്ലാടവും ചാരന്മാരെ അയച്ചുനിങ്ങള് കാഹളനാദം കേള്ക്കുമ്പോള് അബ്ശാലോം ഹെബ്രോനില് രാജാവായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു വിളിച്ചുപറവിന് എന്നു പറയിച്ചിരുന്നു.
10But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, “As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say, ‘Absalom is king in Hebron!’”
11അബ്ശാലോമിനോടുകൂടെ യെരൂശലേമില്നിന്നു ക്ഷണിക്കപ്പെട്ടവരായി ഇരുനൂറു പേര് പോയിരുന്നു. അവര് ഒന്നും അറിയാതെ തങ്ങളുടെ പരമാര്ത്ഥതയിലായിരുന്നു പോയതു.
11Two hundred men went with Absalom out of Jerusalem, who were invited, and went in their simplicity; and they didn’t know anything.
12അബ്ശാലോം യാഗം കഴിക്കുമ്പോള് ദാവീദിന്റെ മന്ത്രിയായ അഹീഥോഫെല് എന്ന ഗീലോന്യനെയും അവന്റെ പട്ടണമായ ഗീലോനില്നിന്നു ആളയച്ചുവരുത്തി; ഇങ്ങനെ ജനം നിത്യം അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുകൂടുകയാല് കൂട്ടുകെട്ടിന്നു ബലം ഏറിവന്നു.
12Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David’s counselor, from his city, even from Giloh, while he was offering the sacrifices. The conspiracy was strong; for the people increased continually with Absalom.
13അനന്തരം ഒരു ദൂതന് ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കല്വന്നുയിസ്രായേല്യരുടെ ഹൃദയം അബ്ശാലോമിനോടു യേജിച്ചുപോയി എന്നറിയിച്ചു.
13A messenger came to David, saying, “The hearts of the men of Israel are after Absalom.”
14അപ്പോള് ദാവീദ് യെരൂശലേമില് തന്നോടു കൂടെയുള്ള സകലഭൃത്യന്മാരോടുംനാം എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഔടിപ്പോക; അല്ലെങ്കില് നമ്മില് ആരും അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു തെറ്റിപ്പോകയില്ല; അവന് പെട്ടെന്നു വന്നു നമ്മെ പിടിച്ചു നമുക്കു അനര്ത്ഥം വരുത്തുകയും പട്ടണത്തെ വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാല് നശിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ക്ഷണത്തില് പുറപ്പെടുവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
14David said to all his servants who were with him at Jerusalem, “Arise, and let us flee; for else none of us shall escape from Absalom. Make speed to depart, lest he overtake us quickly, and bring down evil on us, and strike the city with the edge of the sword.”
15രാജഭൃത്യന്മാര് രാജാവിനോടുയജമാനനായ രാജാവിന്റെ ഹിതമൊക്കെയും അടിയങ്ങള്ക്കു സമ്മതം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
15The king’s servants said to the king, “Behold, your servants are ready to do whatever my lord the king chooses.”
16അങ്ങനെ രാജാവു പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അവന്റെ ഗൃഹമൊക്കെയും അവനെ പിഞ്ചെന്നു; എന്നാല് രാജധാനി സൂക്ഷിപ്പാന് രാജാവു പത്തു വെപ്പാട്ടികളെ താമസിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു.
16The king went forth, and all his household after him. The king left ten women, who were concubines, to keep the house.
17ഇങ്ങനെ രാജാവു പുറപ്പെട്ടു ജനമൊക്കെയും പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു; അവര് ബേത്ത്-മെര്ഹാക്കില് നിന്നു;
17The king went forth, and all the people after him; and they stayed in Beth Merhak.
18അവന്റെ സകലഭൃത്യന്മാരും അവന്റെ അരികത്തുകൂടി കടന്നുപോയി; എല്ലാക്രേത്യരും എല്ലാപ്ളേത്യരും അവനോടുകൂടെ ഗത്തില്നിന്നു പോന്നിരുന്ന അറുനൂറുപേരായ എല്ലാഗിത്യരും രാജാവിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ കടന്നുപോയി.
18All his servants passed on beside him; and all the Cherethites, and all the Pelethites, and all the Gittites, six hundred men who came after him from Gath, passed on before the king.
19രാജാവു ഗിത്യനായ ഇത്ഥായിയോടു പറഞ്ഞതു എന്തെന്നാല്നീയും ഞങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ വരുന്നതു എന്തിനു? നീ മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു രാജാവിനോടുകൂടെ പാര്ക്ക; നീ പരദേശിയും സ്വദേശഭ്രഷ്ടനും അല്ലോ; നിന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു തന്നേ പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ക;
19Then the king said to Ittai the Gittite, “Why do you also go with us? Return, and stay with the king; for you are a foreigner, and also an exile. Return to your own place.
20നീ ഇന്നലെ വന്നതേയുള്ളു; ഇന്നു ഞാന് നിന്നെ ഞങ്ങളോടു കൂടെ അലഞ്ഞുനടക്കുമാറാക്കുമോ? ഞാന് തരം കാണുന്നേടത്തേക്കു പോകുന്നു; നീ നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരെയും കൂട്ടി മടങ്ങിപ്പോക; ദയയും വിശ്വസ്തതയും നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കട്ടെ.
20Whereas you came but yesterday, should I this day make you go up and down with us, since I go where I may? Return, and take back your brothers. Mercy and truth be with you.”
21അതിന്നു ഇത്ഥായി രാജാവിനോടുയഹോവയാണ, യജമാനനായ രാജാവാണ, യജമാനനായ രാജാവു എവിടെ ഇരിക്കുന്നുവോ അവിടെത്തന്നെ മരണമോ ജീവനോ എന്തു വന്നാലും അടിയനും ഇരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
21Ittai answered the king, and said, “As Yahweh lives, and as my lord the king lives, surely in what place my lord the king shall is, whether for death or for life, even there also will your servant be.”
22ദാവീദ് ഇത്ഥായിയോടുനീ കൂടെ പോരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അങ്ങനെ ഗിത്യനായ ഇത്ഥായിയും അവന്റെ ആളുകളും അവനോടുകൂടെയുള്ള കുഞ്ഞുകുട്ടികളും എല്ലാം കടന്നുപോയി.
22David said to Ittai, “Go and pass over.” Ittai the Gittite passed over, and all his men, and all the little ones who were with him.
23ദേശത്തൊക്കെയും വലിയ കരച്ചലായി; ജനമെല്ലാം കടന്നുപായി; രാജാവും കിദ്രോന് തോടു കടന്നു; ജനമൊക്കെയും മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കുള്ള വഴിക്കുപോയി.
23All the country wept with a loud voice, and all the people passed over: the king also himself passed over the brook Kidron, and all the people passed over, toward the way of the wilderness.
24സാദോക്കും അവനോടുകൂടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നിയമപ്പെട്ടകം ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ടു എല്ലാ ലേവ്യരും വന്നു. അവര് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പെട്ടകം താഴെ വെച്ചു, ജനമൊക്കെയും പട്ടണത്തില്നിന്നു കടന്നുതീരുംവരെ അബ്യാഥാര് മല കയറി ചെന്നു.
24Behold, Zadok also came, and all the Levites with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God; and they set down the ark of God; and Abiathar went up, until all the people finished passing out of the city.
25രാജാവു സാദോക്കിനോടുനീ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പെട്ടകം പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു തിരികെ കൊണ്ടുപോക; യഹോവേക്കു എന്നോടു കൃപ തോന്നിയാല് അവന് എന്നെ മടിക്കവരുത്തും; ഇതും തിരുനിവാസവും കാണ്മാന് എനിക്കു ഇടയാകും.
25The king said to Zadok, “Carry back the ark of God into the city. If I find favor in the eyes of Yahweh, he will bring me again, and show me both it, and his habitation;
26അല്ല, എനിക്കു നിന്നില് പ്രസാദമില്ല എന്നു അവന് കല്പിക്കുന്നെങ്കില്, ഇതാ, ഞാന് ഒരുക്കം; അവന് തനിക്കു ഹിതമാകുംവണ്ണം എന്നോടു ചെയ്യട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
26but if he say thus, ‘I have no delight in you;’ behold, here am I. Let him do to me as seems good to him.”
27രാജാവു പിന്നെയും പുരോഹിതനായ സാദോക്കിനോടുദര്ശകാ, നീ സമാധാനത്തോടെ പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോക; നിങ്ങളുടെ രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാര്, നിന്റെ മകന് അഹീമാസും അബ്യാഥാരിന്റെ മകന് യോനാഥാനും നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടല്ലോ.
27The king said also to Zadok the priest, “Aren’t you a seer? Return into the city in peace, and your two sons with you, Ahimaaz your son, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar.
28എനിക്കു നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല്നിന്നു സൂക്ഷ്മവര്ത്തമാനം കിട്ടുംവരെ ഞാന് മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കുള്ള കടവിങ്കല് താമസിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
28Behold, I will stay at the fords of the wilderness, until word comes from you to inform me.”
29അങ്ങനെ സാദോക്കും അബ്യാഥാരും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പെട്ടകം യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു തിരികെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി, അവിടെ താമസിച്ചു.
29Zadok therefore and Abiathar carried the ark of God again to Jerusalem; and they stayed there.
30ദാവീദ് തല മൂടിയും ചെരിപ്പിടാതെയും നടന്നു കരഞ്ഞുംകൊണ്ടു ഒലിവുമലയുടെ കയറ്റംകയറി; കൂടെയുള്ള ജനമൊക്കെയും തല മൂടി കരഞ്ഞുംകൊണ്ടു കയറിച്ചെന്നു.
30David went up by the ascent of the Mount of Olives, and wept as he went up; and he had his head covered, and went barefoot: and all the people who were with him covered every man his head, and they went up, weeping as they went up.
31അബ്ശാലോമിനോടുകൂടെയുള്ള കൂട്ടുകെട്ടുകാരില് അഹീഥോഫെലും ഉണ്ടെന്നു ദാവീദിന്നു അറിവുകിട്ടിയപ്പോള്യഹോവ, അഹീഥോഫെലിന്റെ ആലോചനയെ അബദ്ധമാക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
31Someone told David, saying, “Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” David said, “Yahweh, please turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.”
32പിന്നെ ദാവീദ് മലമുകളില് ദൈവത്തെ ആരാധിച്ചുവന്ന സ്ഥലത്തു എത്തിയപ്പോള് അര്ഖ്യനായ ഹൂശായി അങ്കി കീറിയും തലയില് മണ്ണു വാരിയിട്ടുംകൊണ്ടു അവന്നെതിരെ വരുന്നതു കണ്ടു.
32It happened that when David had come to the top, where God was worshiped, behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat torn, and earth on his head.
33അവനോടു ദാവീദ് പറഞ്ഞതുനീ എന്നോടു കൂടെ പോന്നാല് എനിക്കു ഭാരമായിരിക്കും.
33David said to him, “If you pass on with me, then you will be a burden to me;
34എന്നാല് നീ പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു അബ്ശാലോമിനോടുരാജാവേ, ഞാന് നിന്റെ ദാസനായിരുന്നുകൊള്ളാം; ഞാന് ഇതുവരെ നിന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ ദാസന് ആയിരുന്നതുപോലെ ഇപ്പോള് നിന്റെ ദാസനായിരിക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാല് നിനക്കു അഹീഥോഫെലിന്റെ ആലോചനയെ വ്യര്ത്ഥമാക്കുവാന് കഴിയും.
34but if you return to the city, and tell Absalom, ‘I will be your servant, O king. As I have been your father’s servant in time past, so will I now be your servant; then will you defeat for me the counsel of Ahithophel.’
35അവിടെ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ പുരോഹിതന്മാരായ സാദോക്കും അബ്യാഥാരും ഉണ്ടു. അതുകൊണ്ടു രാജധാനിയില്നിന്നു കേള്ക്കുന്നവര്ത്തമാനമൊക്കെയും നീ പുരോഹിതന്മാരായ സാദോക്കിനെയും അബ്യാഥാരിനെയും അറിയിക്കേണം.
35Don’t you have Zadok and Abiathar the priests there with you? Therefore it shall be, that whatever thing you shall hear out of the king’s house, you shall tell it to Zadok and Abiathar the priests.
36അവിടെ അവരോടു കൂടെ അവരുടെ രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാര്, സാദോക്കിന്റെ മകന് അഹീമാസും അബ്യാഥാരിന്റെ മകന് യോനാഥാനും ഉണ്ടു; നിങ്ങള് കേള്ക്കുന്ന വര്ത്തമാനം ഒക്കെയും അവര് മുഖാന്തരം എന്നെ അറിയിപ്പിന് .
36Behold, they have there with them their two sons, Ahimaaz, Zadok’s son, and Jonathan, Abiathar’s son; and by them you shall send to me everything that you shall hear.”
37അങ്ങനെ ദാവീദിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനായ ഹൂശായി പട്ടണത്തില് ചെന്നു. അബ്ശാലോമും യെരൂശലേമില് എത്തി.
37So Hushai, David’s friend, came into the city; and Absalom came into Jerusalem.
