1ആ കാലത്തു ഹെരോദാരാജാവു സഭയില്‍ ചിലരെ പീഡിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു കൈ നീട്ടി.
1Now about that time, King Herod stretched out his hands to oppress some of the assembly.
2യോഹന്നാന്റെ സഹോദരനായ യാക്കോബിനെ അവന്‍ വാള്‍കൊണ്ടു കൊന്നു.
2He killed James, the brother of John, with the sword.
3അതു യെഹൂദന്മാര്‍ക്കും പ്രസാദമായി എന്നു കണ്ടു അവന്‍ പത്രൊസിനെയും പിടിച്ചു. അപ്പോള്‍ പുളിപ്പില്ലാത്ത അപ്പത്തിന്റെ പെരുനാള്‍ ആയിരുന്നു.
3When he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. This was during the days of unleavened bread.
4അവനെ പിടിച്ചശേഷം പെസഹ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ജനത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില്‍ നിറുത്തുവാന്‍ ഭാവിച്ചു തടവിലാക്കി അവനെ കാപ്പാന്‍ നന്നാലു ചേവകര്‍ ഉള്ള നാലു കൂട്ടത്തിന്നു ഏല്പിച്ചു.
4When he had arrested him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four squads of four soldiers each to guard him, intending to bring him out to the people after the Passover.
5ഇങ്ങനെ പത്രൊസിനെ തടവില്‍ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവരുമ്പോള്‍ സഭ ശ്രദ്ധയോടെ അവന്നുവേണ്ടി ദൈവത്തോടു പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥന കഴിച്ചുപോന്നു.
5Peter therefore was kept in the prison, but constant prayer was made by the assembly to God for him.
6ഹെരോദാവു അവനെ ജനത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില്‍ നിറുത്തുവാന്‍ ഭാവിച്ചതിന്റെ തലെരാത്രിയില്‍ പത്രൊസ് രണ്ടു ചങ്ങലയാല്‍ ബന്ധിക്കപ്പെട്ടവനായി രണ്ടു പടയാളികളുടെ നടുവില്‍ ഉറങ്ങുകയായിരുന്നു; വാതിലിന്റെ മുമ്പില്‍ കാവല്‍ക്കാര്‍ കാരാഗൃഹം കാത്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
6The same night when Herod was about to bring him out, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains. Guards in front of the door kept the prison.
7പെട്ടെന്നു കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ ദൂതന്‍ അവിടെ പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി, അറയില്‍ ഒരു വെളിച്ചം പ്രകാശിച്ചു. അവന്‍ പത്രൊസിനെ വിലാപ്പുറത്തു തട്ടിവേഗം എഴുന്നേല്‍ക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ ഉണര്‍ത്തി; ഉടനെ അവന്റെ ചങ്ങല കൈമേല്‍ നിന്നു വീണു പോയി.
7And behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side, and woke him up, saying, “Stand up quickly!” His chains fell off from his hands.
8ദൂതന്‍ അവനോടുഅര കെട്ടി ചെരിപ്പു ഇട്ടു മുറുക്കുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന്‍ അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തു; നിന്റെ വസ്ത്രം പുതെച്ചു എന്റെ പിന്നാലെ വരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
8The angel said to him, “Get dressed and put on your sandals.” He did so. He said to him, “Put on your cloak, and follow me.”
9അവന്‍ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു, ദൂതന്‍ മുഖാന്തരം സംഭവിച്ചതു വാസ്തവം എന്നു അറിയാതെ താന്‍ ഒരു ദര്‍ശനം കാണുന്നു എന്നു നിരൂപിച്ചു.
9And he went out and followed him. He didn’t know that what was being done by the angel was real, but thought he saw a vision.
10അവര്‍ ഒന്നാം കാവലും രണ്ടാമത്തേതും കടന്നു പട്ടണത്തില്‍ ചെല്ലുന്ന ഇരിമ്പു വാതില്‍ക്കല്‍ എത്തി. അതു അവര്‍ക്കും സ്വതവെ തുറന്നു; അവര്‍ പുറത്തിറങ്ങി ഒരു തെരുവു കടന്നു, ഉടനെ ദൂതന്‍ അവനെ വിട്ടുപോയി.
10When they were past the first and the second guard, they came to the iron gate that leads into the city, which opened to them by itself. They went out, and went down one street, and immediately the angel departed from him.
11പത്രൊസിന്നു സുബോധം വന്നിട്ടു കര്‍ത്താവു തന്റെ ദൂതനെ അയച്ചു ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ കയ്യില്‍നിന്നും യെഹൂദജനത്തിന്റെ സകല പ്രതീക്ഷിയില്‍നിന്നും എന്നെ വിടുവിച്ചു എന്നു ഞാന്‍ ഇപ്പോള്‍ വാസ്തവമായി അറിയുന്നു എന്നു അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.
11When Peter had come to himself, he said, “Now I truly know that the Lord has sent out his angel and delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from everything the Jewish people were expecting.”
12ഇങ്ങനെ ഗ്രഹിച്ച ശേഷം അവന്‍ മര്‍ക്കൊസ് എന്നു മറുപേരുള്ള യോഹന്നാന്റെ അമ്മ മറിയയുടെ വീട്ടില്‍ ചെന്നു. അവിടെ അനേകര്‍ ഒരുമിച്ചു കൂടി പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിച്ചുകെണ്ടിരുന്നു.
12Thinking about that, he came to the house of Mary, the mother of John whose surname was Mark, where many were gathered together and were praying.
13അവന്‍ പടിപ്പുരവാതില്‍ക്കല്‍ മുട്ടിയാറെ രോദാ എന്നൊരു ബാല്യക്കാരത്തി വിളികേള്‍പ്പാന്‍ അടുത്തുവന്നു.
13When Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a maid named Rhoda came to answer.
14പത്രൊസിന്റെ ശബ്ദം തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞു, സന്തോഷത്താല്‍ പടിവാതില്‍ തുറക്കാതെ അകത്തേക്കു ഔടി, പത്രൊസ് പടിപ്പുരെക്കല്‍ നിലക്കുന്നുഎന്നു അറിയിച്ചു.
14When she recognized Peter’s voice, she didn’t open the gate for joy, but ran in, and reported that Peter was standing in front of the gate.
15അവര്‍ അവളോടുനിനക്കു ഭ്രാന്തുണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അവളോഅല്ല, ഉള്ളതു തന്നേ എന്നു ഉറപ്പിച്ചുപറയുമ്പോള്‍ അവന്റെ ദൂതന്‍ ആകുന്നു എന്നു അവര്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.
15They said to her, “You are crazy!” But she insisted that it was so. They said, “It is his angel.”
16പത്രൊസ് മുട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു; അവര്‍ തുറന്നപ്പോള്‍ അവനെ കണ്ടു വിസ്മയിച്ചു.
16But Peter continued knocking. When they had opened, they saw him, and were amazed.
17അവര്‍ മിണ്ടാതിരിപ്പാന്‍ അവന്‍ ആംഗ്യം കാട്ടി, കര്‍ത്താവു തന്നെ തടവില്‍നിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ച വിവരം പറഞ്ഞു കേള്‍പ്പിച്ചു; ഇതു യാക്കോബിനോടും ശേഷം സഹോദരന്മാരോടും അറിയിപ്പിന്‍ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; പിന്നെ അവന്‍ പുറപ്പെട്ടു വേറൊരു സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു പോയി.
17But he, beckoning to them with his hand to be silent, declared to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. He said, “Tell these things to James, and to the brothers.” Then he departed, and went to another place.
18നേരം വെളുത്തപ്പോള്‍ പത്രൊസ് എവിടെ പോയി എന്നു പടയാളികള്‍ക്കു അല്പമല്ലാത്ത പരിഭ്രമം ഉണ്ടായി
18Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers about what had become of Peter.
19ഹെരോദാവു അവനെ അന്വേഷിച്ചിട്ടു കാണായ്കയാല്‍ കാവല്‍ക്കാരെ വിസ്തരിച്ചു അവരെ കൊല്ലുവാന്‍ കല്പിച്ചു; പിന്നെ അവന്‍ യെഹൂദ്യ വിട്ടു കൈസര്യയിലേക്കു പോയി അവിടെ പാര്‍ത്തു.
19When Herod had sought for him, and didn’t find him, he examined the guards, and commanded that they should be put to death. He went down from Judea to Caesarea, and stayed there.
20അവന്‍ സോര്യരുടെയും സിദോന്യരുടെയും നേരെ ക്രുദ്ധിച്ചിരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ രാജാവിന്റെ ദേശത്തുനിന്നു തങ്ങളുടെ ദേശത്തിന്നു ആഹാരം കിട്ടിവരികയാല്‍ അവര്‍ ഏകമനസ്സോടെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ ചെന്നു, രാജാവിന്റെ പള്ളിയറക്കാരനായ ബ്ളസ്തൊസിനെ വശത്താക്കി സന്ധിക്കായി അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
20Now Herod was very angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon. They came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus, the king’s personal aide, their friend, they asked for peace, because their country depended on the king’s country for food.
21നിശ്ചയിച്ച ദിവസത്തില്‍ ഹെരോദാവു രാജവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചു ഭദ്രാസനത്തില്‍ ഇരുന്നു അവരോടു പ്രസംഗം കഴിച്ചു.
21On an appointed day, Herod dressed himself in royal clothing, sat on the throne, and gave a speech to them.
22ഇതു മനുഷ്യന്റെ ശബ്ദമല്ല ഒരു ദേവന്റെ ശബ്ദം അത്രേ എന്നു ജനം ആര്‍ത്തു.
22The people shouted, “The voice of a god, and not of a man!”
23അവന്‍ ദൈവത്തിന്നു മഹത്വം കൊടുക്കായ്കയാല്‍ കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ ദൂതന്‍ ഉടനെ അവനെ അടിച്ചു, അവന്‍ കൃമിക്കു ഇരയായി പ്രാണനെ വിട്ടു.
23Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he didn’t give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and died.
24എന്നാല്‍ ദൈവ വചനം മേലക്കുമേല്‍ പരന്നുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
24But the word of God grew and multiplied.
25ബര്‍ന്നാബാസും ശൌലും ശുശ്രൂഷ നിവര്‍ത്തിച്ച ശേഷം മര്‍ക്കൊസ് എന്നു മറു പേരുള്ള യോഹന്നാനെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു യെരൂശലേം വിട്ടു മടങ്ങിപ്പോന്നു.
25Barnabas and Saul returned to TR reads “from” instead of “to” Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their service, also taking with them John whose surname was Mark.
