1എന്നാല്‍ അനന്യാസ് എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു പുരുഷന്‍ തന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ സഫീരയോടു കൂടെ ഒരു നിലം വിറ്റു.
1But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira, his wife, sold a possession,
2ഭാര്യയുടെ അറിവോടെ വിലയില്‍ കുറെ എടുത്തുവെച്ചു ഒരംശം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരുടെ കാല്കല്‍ വെച്ചു.
2and kept back part of the price, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
3അപ്പോള്‍ പത്രൊസ്അനന്യാസേ, പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിനോടു വ്യാജം കാണിപ്പാനും നിലത്തിന്റെ വിലയില്‍ കുറെ എടുത്തുവെപ്പാനും സാത്താന്‍ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം കൈവശമാക്കിയതു എന്തു?
3But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
4അതു വിലക്കും മുമ്പെ നിന്റേതായിരുന്നില്ലെയോ? വിറ്റശേഷവും നിന്റെ കൈവശം അല്ലാഞ്ഞുവോ? ഈ കാര്യത്തിനു നീ മനസ്സുവെച്ചതു എന്തു? മനുഷ്യരോടല്ല ദൈവത്തോടത്രേ നീ വ്യാജം കാണിച്ചതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
4While you kept it, didn’t it remain your own? After it was sold, wasn’t it in your power? How is it that you have conceived this thing in your heart? You haven’t lied to men, but to God.”
5ഈ വാക്കു കേട്ടിട്ടു അനന്യാസ് വീണു പ്രാണനെ വിട്ടു; ഇതു കേട്ടവര്‍ക്കും എല്ലാവര്‍ക്കും മഹാഭയം ഉണ്ടായി.
5Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and died. Great fear came on all who heard these things.
6ബാല്യക്കാര്‍ എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവനെ ശീലപൊതിഞ്ഞു പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോയി കുഴിച്ചിട്ടു.
6The young men arose and wrapped him up, and they carried him out and buried him.
7ഏകദേശം മൂന്നു മണിനേരം കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ അവന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഈ സംഭവിച്ചതു ഒന്നും അറിയാതെ അകത്തുവന്നു.
7About three hours later, his wife, not knowing what had happened, came in.
8പത്രൊസ് അവളോടുഇത്രെക്കോ നിങ്ങള്‍ നിലം വിറ്റതു? പറക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അതേ, ഇത്രെക്കു തന്നെ എന്നു അവള്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.
8Peter answered her, “Tell me whether you sold the land for so much.” She said, “Yes, for so much.”
9പത്രൊസ് അവളോടുകര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ പരീക്ഷിപ്പാന്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ തമ്മില്‍ ഒത്തതു എന്തു? ഇതാ, നിന്റെ ഭര്‍ത്താവിനെ കുഴിച്ചിട്ടവരുടെ കാല്‍ വാതില്‍ക്കല്‍ ഉണ്ടു; അവര്‍ നിന്നെയും പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
9But Peter asked her, “How is it that you have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.”
10ഉടനെ അവള്‍ അവന്റെ കാല്‍ക്കല്‍ വീണു പ്രാണനെ വിട്ടു; ബാല്യക്കാര്‍ അകത്തു വന്നു അവള്‍ മരിച്ചു എന്നു കണ്ടു പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോയി ഭര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ അരികെ കുഴിച്ചിട്ടു.
10She fell down immediately at his feet, and died. The young men came in and found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her by her husband.
11സര്‍വസഭെക്കും ഇതു കേട്ടവര്‍ക്കും എല്ലാവര്‍ക്കും മഹാഭയം ഉണ്ടായി.
11Great fear came on the whole assembly, and on all who heard these things.
12അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരുടെ കയ്യാല്‍ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയില്‍ പല അടയാളങ്ങളും അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും നടന്നു; അവര്‍ എല്ലാവരും ഏകമനസ്സോടെ ശലോമോന്റെ മണ്ഡപത്തില്‍ കൂടിവരിക പതിവായിരുന്നു.
12By the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. They were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch.
13മറ്റുള്ളവരില്‍ ആരും അവരോടു ചേരുവാന്‍ തുനിഞ്ഞില്ല; ജനമോ അവരെ പുകഴ്ത്തിപ്പോന്നു.
13None of the rest dared to join them, however the people honored them.
14മേലക്കുമേല്‍ അനവധി പുരുഷന്മാരും സ്ത്രീകളും കര്‍ത്താവില്‍ വിശ്വസിച്ചു ചേര്‍ന്നുവന്നു.
14More believers were added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women.
15രോഗികളെ പുറത്തുകൊണ്ടുവന്നു, പത്രൊസ് കടന്നുപോകുമ്പോള്‍ അവന്റെ നിഴല്‍ എങ്കിലും അവരില്‍ വല്ലവരുടെയുംമേല്‍ വീഴേണ്ടതിന്നു വീഥികളില്‍ വിരിപ്പിന്മേലും കിടക്കമേലും കിടത്തും.
15They even carried out the sick into the streets, and laid them on cots and mattresses, so that as Peter came by, at the least his shadow might overshadow some of them.
16അതുകൂടാതെ യെരൂശലേമിന്നു ചുറ്റുമുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളില്‍നിന്നു പുരുഷാരം വന്നുകൂടി രോഗികളെയും അശുദ്ധാത്മാക്കള്‍ ബാധിച്ചവരെയും കൊണ്ടുവരികയും അവര്‍ എല്ലാവരും സൌഖ്യം പ്രാപിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.
16Multitudes also came together from the cities around Jerusalem, bringing sick people, and those who were tormented by unclean spirits: and they were all healed.
17പിന്നെ മഹാപുരോഹിതനും സദൂക്യരുടെ മതക്കാരായ അവന്റെ പക്ഷക്കാരൊക്കെയും
17But the high priest rose up, and all those who were with him (which is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with jealousy,
18അസൂയ നിറഞ്ഞു എഴുന്നേറ്റു അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരെ പിടിച്ചു പൊതു തടവില്‍ ആക്കി.
18and laid hands on the apostles, and put them in public custody.
19രാത്രിയിലോ കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ ദൂതന്‍ കാരാഗൃഹവാതില്‍ തുറന്നു അവരെ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടു വന്നു
19But an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors by night, and brought them out, and said,
20നിങ്ങള്‍ ദൈവാലയത്തില്‍ ചെന്നു ഈ ജീവന്റെ വചനം എല്ലാം ജനത്തോടു പ്രസ്താവിപ്പിന്‍ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
20“Go stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.”
21അവര്‍ കേട്ടു പുലര്‍ച്ചെക്കു ദൈവാലയത്തില്‍ ചെന്നു ഉപദേശിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു; മഹാപുരോഹിതനും കൂടെയുള്ളവരും വന്നു ന്യായാധിപസംഘത്തെയും യിസ്രയേല്‍മക്കളുടെ മൂപ്പ്ന്മാരെയും എല്ലാം വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി, അവരെ കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന്‍ തടവിലേക്കു ആളയച്ചു.
21When they heard this, they entered into the temple about daybreak, and taught. But the high priest came, and those who were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.
22ചേവകര്‍ ചെന്നപ്പോള്‍ അവരെ കാരാഗൃഹത്തില്‍ കാണാതെ മടങ്ങിവന്നുകാരാഗൃഹം നല്ല സൂക്ഷമത്തോടെ പൂട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നതും കാവല്‍ക്കാര്‍ വാതില്‍ക്കല്‍ നിലക്കുന്നതും ഞങ്ങള്‍ കണ്ടു;
22But the officers who came didn’t find them in the prison. They returned and reported,
23തുറന്നപ്പോഴോ അകത്തു ആരെയും കണ്ടില്ല എന്നു അറിയിച്ചു.
23“We found the prison shut and locked, and the guards standing before the doors, but when we opened them, we found no one inside!”
24ഈ വാക്കു കേട്ടിട്ടു ദൈവാലയത്തിലെ പടനായകനും മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ഇതു എന്തായിത്തീരും എന്നു അവരെക്കുറിച്ചു ചഞ്ചലിച്ചു.
24Now when the high priest, the captain of the temple, and the chief priests heard these words, they were very perplexed about them and what might become of this.
25അപ്പോള്‍ ഒരുത്തന്‍ വന്നുനിങ്ങള്‍ തടവില്‍ ആക്കിയ പുരുഷന്മാര്‍ ദൈവാലയത്തില്‍ നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു ജനത്തെ ഉപദേശിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു.
25One came and told them, “Behold, the men whom you put in prison are in the temple, standing and teaching the people.”
26പടനായകന്‍ ചേവകരുമായി ചെന്നു, ജനം കല്ലെറിയും എന്നു ഭയപ്പെടുകയാല്‍ ബലാല്‍ക്കാരം ചെയ്യാതെ അവരെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
26Then the captain went with the officers, and brought them without violence, for they were afraid that the people might stone them.
27അങ്ങനെ അവരെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു ന്യായാധിപസംഘത്തിന്മുമ്പാകെ നിറുത്തി; മഹാപുരോഹിതന്‍ അവരോടു
27When they had brought them, they set them before the council. The high priest questioned them,
28ഈ നാമത്തില്‍ ഉപദേശിക്കരുതു എന്നു ഞങ്ങള്‍ നിങ്ങളോടു അമര്‍ച്ചയായി കല്പിച്ചുവല്ലോ; നിങ്ങളോ യെരൂശലേമിനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഉപദേശംകൊണ്ടു നിറെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ആ മനുഷ്യന്റെ രക്തം ഞങ്ങളുടെ മേല്‍ വരുത്തുവാന്‍ ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നു. എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
28saying, “Didn’t we strictly command you not to teach in this name? Behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and intend to bring this man’s blood on us.”
29അതിന്നു പത്രൊസും ശേഷം അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരുംമനുഷ്യരെക്കാള്‍ ദൈവത്തെ അനുസരിക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.
29But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.
30നിങ്ങള്‍ മരത്തില്‍ തൂക്കിക്കൊന്ന യേശുവിനെ നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവം ഉയിര്‍പ്പിച്ചു;
30The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you killed, hanging him on a tree.
31യിസ്രായേലിന്നു മാനസാന്തരവും പാപമോചനവും നലകുവാന്‍ ദൈവം അവനെ പ്രഭുവായും രക്ഷിതാവായും തന്റെ വലങ്കയ്യാല്‍ ഉയര്‍ത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
31God exalted him with his right hand to be a Prince and a Savior, to give repentance to Israel, and remission of sins.
32ഈ വസ്തുതെക്കു ഞങ്ങളും ദൈവം തന്നെ അനുസരിക്കുന്നവര്‍ക്കും നല്കിയ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവും സാക്ഷികള്‍ ആകുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
32We are His witnesses of these things; and so also is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.”
33ഇതു കേട്ടപ്പോള്‍ അവര്‍ കോപപരവശരായി അവരെ ഒടുക്കിക്കളവാന്‍ ഭാവിച്ചു.
33But they, when they heard this, were cut to the heart, and determined to kill them.
34അപ്പോള്‍ സര്‍വ്വ ജനത്തിനും ബഹുമാനമുള്ള ധര്‍മ്മോപദേഷ്ടാവായ ഗമാലീയേല്‍ എന്നൊരു പരീശന്‍ ന്യായധിപസംഘത്തില്‍ എഴുന്നേറ്റു, അവരെ കുറെ നേരം പുറത്താക്കുവാന്‍ കല്പിച്ചു.
34But one stood up in the council, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, honored by all the people, and commanded to put the apostles out for a little while.
35പിന്നെ അവന്‍ അവരോടുയിസ്രായേല്‍ പുരുഷന്മാരെ, ഈ മനുഷ്യരുടെ കാര്യത്തില്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ എന്തു ചെയ്യാന്‍ പോകുന്നു എന്നു സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊള്‍വിന്‍ .
35He said to them, “You men of Israel, be careful concerning these men, what you are about to do.
36ഈ നാളുകള്‍ക്കു മുമ്പെ തദാസ് എന്നവന്‍ എഴുന്നേറ്റു താന്‍ മഹാന്‍ എന്നു നടിച്ചു; ഏകദേശം നാനൂറു പുരുഷന്മാര്‍ അവനോടു ചേന്നുകൂടി; എങ്കിലും അവന്‍ നശിക്കയും അവനെ അനുസരിച്ചവര്‍ എല്ലാവരും ചിന്നി ഒന്നുമില്ലാതാകയും ചെയ്തു.
36For before these days Theudas rose up, making himself out to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were dispersed, and came to nothing.
37അവന്റെ ശേഷം ഗലീലക്കാരനായ യൂദാ ചാര്‍ത്തലിന്റെ കാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു ജനത്തേ തന്റെ പക്ഷം ചേരുവാന്‍ വശീകരിച്ചു; അവനും നശിച്ചു, അവനെ അനുസരിച്ചവര്‍ ഒക്കെയും ചിതറിപ്പോയി.
37After this man, Judas of Galilee rose up in the days of the enrollment, and drew away some people after him. He also perished, and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered abroad.
38ആകയാല്‍ ഈ മനുഷ്യരെ വിട്ടു ഒഴിഞ്ഞുകൊള്‍വിന്‍ എന്നു ഞാന്‍ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു; ഈ ആലോചനയോ പ്രവൃത്തിയോ മാനുഷം എന്നു വരികില്‍ അതു നശിച്ചുപോകും;
38Now I tell you, withdraw from these men, and leave them alone. For if this counsel or this work is of men, it will be overthrown.
39ദൈവികം എങ്കിലോ നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു അതു നശിപ്പിപ്പാന്‍ കഴികയില്ല; നിങ്ങള്‍ ദൈവത്തോടു പോരാടുന്നു എന്നു വരരുതല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
39But if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow it, and you would be found even to be fighting against God!”
40അവര്‍ അവനെ അനുസരിച്ചുഅപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരെ വരുത്തി അടിപ്പിച്ചു, ഇനി യേശുവിന്റെ നാമത്തില്‍ സംസാരിക്കരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു അവരെ വിട്ടയച്ചു.
40They agreed with him. Summoning the apostles, they beat them and commanded them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.
41തിരുനാമത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി അപമാനം സഹിപ്പാന്‍ യോഗ്യരായി എണ്ണപ്പെടുകയാല്‍ അവര്‍ സന്തോഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു ന്യായാധിപസംഘത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില്‍ നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോയി.
41They therefore departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for Jesus’ name.
42പിന്നെ അവര്‍ ദിനംപ്രതി ദൈവാലയത്തിലും വീടുതോറും വിടാതെ ഉപദേശിക്കയും യേശുവിനെ ക്രിസ്തു എന്നു സുവിശേഷിക്കയും ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
42Every day, in the temple and at home, they never stopped teaching and preaching Jesus, the Christ.
