1അനന്തരം യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ സംഘം എല്ലാം സീന് മരുഭൂമിയില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു, യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനപ്രകാരം ചെയ്ത പ്രയാണങ്ങളില് രെഫീദീമില് എത്തി പാളയമിറങ്ങി; അവിടെ ജനത്തിന്നു കുടിപ്പാന് വെള്ളമില്ലായിരുന്നു.
1All the congregation of the children of Israel traveled from the wilderness of Sin, by their journeys, according to Yahweh’s commandment, and encamped in Rephidim; but there was no water for the people to drink.
2അതുകൊണ്ടു ജനം മോശെയോടുഞങ്ങള്ക്കു കുടിപ്പാന് വെള്ളം തരിക എന്നു കലഹിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതിന്നു മോശെ അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് എന്നോടു എന്തിന്നു കലഹിക്കുന്നു? നിങ്ങള് യഹോവയെ പരീക്ഷിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
2Therefore the people quarreled with Moses, and said, “Give us water to drink.” Moses said to them, “Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test Yahweh?”
3ജനത്തിന്നു അവിടെവെച്ചു നന്നാ ദാഹിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു ജനം മോശെയുടെ നേരെ പിറുപിറുത്തുഞങ്ങളും മക്കളും ഞങ്ങളുടെ മൃഗങ്ങളും ദാഹം കൊണ്ടു ചാകേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ ഞങ്ങളെ മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്നതു എന്തിന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
3The people were thirsty for water there; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us, our children, and our livestock with thirst?”
4മോശെ യഹോവയോടു നിലവിളിച്ചുഈ ജനത്തിന്നു ഞാന് എന്തു ചെയ്യേണ്ടു? അവര് എന്നെ കല്ലെറിവാന് പോകുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
4Moses cried to Yahweh, saying, “What shall I do with these people? They are almost ready to stone me.”
5യഹോവ മോശെയോടുയിസ്രായേല്മൂപ്പന്മാരില് ചിലരെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു നീ നദിയെ അടിച്ച വടിയും കയ്യില് എടുത്തു ജനത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ കടന്നുപോക.
5Yahweh said to Moses, “Walk on before the people, and take the elders of Israel with you, and take the rod in your hand with which you struck the Nile, and go.
6ഞാന് ഹോരേബില് നിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ പാറയുടെ മേല് നിലക്കും; നീ പാറയെ അടിക്കേണം; ഉടനെ ജനത്തിന്നു കുടിപ്പാന് വെള്ളം അതില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെടും എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. യിസ്രായേല്മൂപ്പന്മാര് കാണ്കെ മോശെ അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തു.
6Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb. You shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink.” Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
7യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ കലഹം നിമിത്തവും യഹോവ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് ഉണ്ടോ ഇല്ലയോ എന്നു അവര് യഹോവയെ പരീക്ഷിക്ക നിമിത്തവും അവന് ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു മസ്സാ (പരീക്ഷ) എന്നും മെരീബാ (കലഹം) എന്നും പേരിട്ടു.
7He called the name of the place Massah, Massah means testing. and Meribah, Meribah means quarreling. because the children of Israel quarreled, and because they tested Yahweh, saying, “Is Yahweh among us, or not?”
8രെഫീദീമില്വെച്ചു അമാലേക് വന്നു യിസ്രായേലിനോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു.
8Then Amalek came and fought with Israel in Rephidim.
9അപ്പോള് മോശെ യോശുവയോടുനീ ആളുകളെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു പുറപ്പെട്ടു അമാലേക്കിനോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്ക; ഞാന് നാളെ കുന്നിന് മുകളില് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വടി കയ്യില് പിടിച്ചും കൊണ്ടു നിലക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
9Moses said to Joshua, “Choose men for us, and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with God’s rod in my hand.”
10മോശെ തന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ യോശുവ ചെയ്തു, അമാലേക്കിനോടു പൊരുതു; എന്നാല് മോശെയും അഹരോനും ഹൂരും കുന്നിന് മുകളില് കയറി.
10So Joshua did as Moses had told him, and fought with Amalek; and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
11മോശെ കൈ ഉയര്ത്തിയിരിക്കുമ്പോള് യിസ്രായേല് ജയിക്കും; കൈ താഴ്ത്തിയിരിക്കുമ്പോള് അമാലേക് ജയിക്കും.
11It happened, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.
12എന്നാല് മോശെയുടെ കൈ ഭാരം തോന്നിയപ്പോള് അവര് ഒരു കല്ലു എടുത്തുവെച്ചു, അവന് അതിന്മേല് ഇരുന്നു; അഹരോനും ഹൂരും ഒരുത്തന് ഇപ്പുറത്തും ഒരുത്തന് അപ്പുറത്തും നിന്നു അവന്റെ കൈ താങ്ങി; അങ്ങനെ അവന്റെ കൈ സൂര്യന് അസ്തമിക്കുംവരെ ഉറെച്ചുനിന്നു.
12But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side. His hands were steady until sunset.
13യോശുവ അമാലേക്കിനെയും അവന്റെ ജനത്തെയും വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാല് തോല്പിച്ചു.
13Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
14യഹോവ മോശെയോടുനീ ഇതു ഔര്മ്മെക്കായിട്ടു ഒരു പുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതി യോശുവയെ കേള്പ്പിക്ക; ഞാന് അമാലേക്കിന്റെ ഔര്മ്മ ആകാശത്തിന്റെ കീഴില്നിന്നു അശേഷം മായിച്ചുകളയും എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.
14Yahweh said to Moses, “Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: that I will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under the sky.”
15പിന്നെ മോശെ ഒരു യാഗ പീഠം പണിതു, അതിന്നു യഹോവ നിസ്സി (യഹോവ എന്റെ കൊടി) എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.
15Moses built an altar, and called its name Yahweh our Banner. Hebrew, Yahweh Nissi
16യഹോവയുടെ സീംഹാസനത്താണ യഹോവേക്കു അമാലേക്കിനോടു തലമുറതലമുറയായി യുദ്ധം ഉണ്ടു എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.
16He said, “Yah has sworn: ‘Yahweh will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.’”
