¹എന്നാല്‍ ലേവികുടുംബത്തിലെ ഒരു പുരുഷന്‍ പോയി ഒരു ലേവ്യകന്യകയെ പരിഗ്രഹിച്ചു.

¹A man of the house of Levi went and took a daughter of Levi as his wife.

²അവള്‍ ഗര്‍ഭം ധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു. അവന്‍ സൌന്ദര്യമുള്ളവന്‍ എന്നു കണ്ടിട്ടു അവനെ മൂന്നു മാസം ഒളിച്ചുവെച്ചു.

²The woman conceived, and bore a son. When she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him three months.

³അവനെ പിന്നെ ഒളിച്ചുവെപ്പാന്‍ കഴിയാതെ ആയപ്പോള്‍ അവള്‍ ഒരു ഞാങ്ങണപ്പെട്ടകം വാങ്ങി, അതിന്നു പശയും കീലും തേച്ചു, പൈതലിനെ അതില്‍ കിടത്തി, നദിയുടെ അരികില്‍ ഞാങ്ങണയുടെ ഇടയില്‍ വെച്ചു.

³When she could no longer hide him, she took a papyrus basket for him, and coated it with tar and with pitch. She put the child in it, and laid it in the reeds by the river’s bank.

⁴അവന്നു എന്തു ഭവിക്കുമെന്നു അറിവാന്‍ അവന്റെ പെങ്ങള്‍ ദൂരത്തു നിന്നു.

⁴His sister stood far off, to see what would be done to him.

⁵അപ്പോള്‍ ഫറവോന്റെ പുത്രി നദിയില്‍ കുളിപ്പാന്‍ വന്നു; അവളുടെ ദാസിമാര്‍ നദീതീരത്തുകൂടി നടന്നു; അവള്‍ ഞാങ്ങണയുടെ ഇടയില്‍ പെട്ടകം കണ്ടപ്പോള്‍ അതിനെ എടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന്‍ ദാസിയെ അയച്ചു.

⁵Pharaoh’s daughter came down to bathe at the river. Her maidens walked along by the riverside. She saw the basket among the reeds, and sent her handmaid to get it.

⁶അവള്‍ അതു തുറന്നാറെ പൈതലിനെ കണ്ടുകുട്ടി ഇതാ, കരയുന്നു. അവള്‍ക്കു അതിനോടു അലിവുതോന്നിഇതു എബ്രായരുടെ പൈതങ്ങളില്‍ ഒന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁶She opened it, and saw the child, and behold, the baby cried. She had compassion on him, and said, “This is one of the Hebrews’ children.”

⁷അവന്റെ പെങ്ങള്‍ ഫറവോന്റെ പുത്രിയോടുഈ പൈതലിന്നു മുലകൊടുക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഒരു എബ്രായസ്ത്രീയെ ഞാന്‍ ചെന്നു വിളിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുവരേണമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

⁷Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Should I go and call a nurse for you from the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for you?”

⁸ഫറവോന്റെ പുത്രി അവളോടുചെന്നു കൊണ്ടു വരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. കന്യക ചെന്നു പൈതലിന്റെ അമ്മയെ വിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

⁸Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Go.” The maiden went and called the child’s mother.

⁹ഫറവോന്റെ പുത്രി അവളോടുനീ ഈ പൈതലിനെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി മുലകൊടുത്തു വളര്‍ത്തേണം; ഞാന്‍ നിനക്കു ശമ്പളം തരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. സ്ത്രി പൈതലിനെ എടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോയി മുലകൊടുത്തു വളര്‍ത്തി.

⁹Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child away, and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages.” The woman took the child, and nursed it.

¹⁰പൈതല്‍ വളര്‍ന്നശേഷം അവള്‍ അവനെ ഫറവോന്റെ പുത്രിയുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ കൊണ്ടു പോയി, അവന്‍ അവള്‍ക്കു മകനായിഞാന്‍ അവനെ വെള്ളത്തില്‍ നിന്നു വലിച്ചെടുത്തു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവള്‍ അവന്നു മോശെ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

¹⁰The child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. She named him Moses, “Moses” sounds like the Hebrew for “draw out”. and said, “Because I drew him out of the water.”

¹¹ആ കാലത്തു മോശെ മുതിര്‍ന്നശേഷം അവന്‍ തന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ ചെന്നു അവരുടെ ഭാരമുള്ള വേല നോക്കി, തന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരില്‍ ഒരു എബ്രായനെ ഒരു മിസ്രയീമ്യന്‍ അടിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു.

¹¹It happened in those days, when Moses had grown up, that he went out to his brothers, and looked at their burdens. He saw an Egyptian striking a Hebrew, one of his brothers.

¹²അവന്‍ അങ്ങോട്ടും ഇങ്ങോട്ടും നോക്കീട്ടു ആരും ഇല്ലെന്നു കണ്ടപ്പോള്‍ മിസ്രയീമ്യനെ അടിച്ചു കൊന്നു മണലില്‍ മറവുചെയ്തു.

¹²He looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no one, he killed the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.

¹³പിറ്റേ ദിവസവും അവന്‍ ചെന്നപ്പോള്‍ രണ്ടു എബ്രായ പുരുഷന്മാര്‍ തമ്മില്‍ ശണ്ഠയിടുന്നതു കണ്ടു, അന്യായം ചെയ്തവനോടുനിന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാരനെ അടിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

¹³He went out the second day, and behold, two men of the Hebrews were fighting with each other. He said to him who did the wrong, “Why do you strike your fellow?”

¹⁴അതിന്നു അവന്‍ നിന്നെ ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കു പ്രഭുവും ന്യായാധിപതിയും ആക്കിയവന്‍ ആര്‍? മിസ്രയീമ്യനെ കൊന്നതുപോലെ എന്നെയും കൊല്ലുവാന്‍ ഭാവിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അപ്പോള്‍ കാര്യം പ്രസിദ്ധമായിപ്പോയല്ലോ എന്നു മോശെ പറഞ്ഞു പേടിച്ചു.

¹⁴He said, “Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you plan to kill me, as you killed the Egyptian?” Moses was afraid, and said, “Surely this thing is known.”

¹⁵ഫറവോന്‍ ഈ കാര്യം കേട്ടാറെ മോശെയെ കൊല്ലുവാന്‍ അന്വേഷിച്ചു. മോശെ ഫറവോന്റെ സന്നിധിയില്‍നിന്നു ഔടിപ്പോയി, മിദ്യാന്‍ ദേശത്തു ചെന്നു പാര്‍ത്തു; അവന്‍ ഒരു കിണറ്റിന്നരികെ ഇരുന്നു.

¹⁵Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to kill Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and lived in the land of Midian, and he sat down by a well.

¹⁶മിദ്യാനിലെ പുരോഹിതന്നു ഏഴു പുത്രിമാര്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അവര്‍ വന്നു അപ്പന്റെ ആടുകള്‍ക്കു കുടിപ്പാന്‍ വെള്ളം കോരി തൊട്ടികള്‍ നിറെച്ചു.

¹⁶Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters. They came and drew water, and filled the troughs to water their father’s flock.

¹⁷എന്നാല്‍ ഇടയന്മാര്‍ വന്നു അവരെ ആട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞുഅപ്പോള്‍ മോശെ എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവരെ സഹായിച്ചു അവരുടെ ആടുകളെ കുടിപ്പിച്ചു.

¹⁷The shepherds came and drove them away; but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock.

¹⁸അവര്‍ തങ്ങളുടെ അപ്പനായ റെഗൂവേലിന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ വന്നപ്പോള്‍നിങ്ങള്‍ ഇന്നു ഇത്രവേഗം വന്നതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു അവന്‍ ചോദിച്ചു.

¹⁸When they came to Reuel, their father, he said, “How is it that you have returned so early today?”

¹⁹ഒരു മിസ്രയീമ്യന്‍ ഇടയന്മാരുടെ കയ്യില്‍നിന്നു ഞങ്ങളെ വിടുവിച്ചു, ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കു വെള്ളം കോരിത്തന്നു ആടുകളെ കുടിപ്പിച്ചു എന്നു അവര്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁹They said, “An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and moreover he drew water for us, and watered the flock.”

²⁰അവന്‍ തന്റെ പുത്രിമാരോടുഅവന്‍ എവിടെ? നിങ്ങള്‍ അവനെ വിട്ടേച്ചു പോന്നതെന്തു? ഭക്ഷണം കഴിപ്പാന്‍ അവനെ വിളിപ്പിന്‍ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²⁰He said to his daughters, “Where is he? Why is it that you have left the man? Call him, that he may eat bread.”

²¹മോശെക്കു അവനോടുകൂടെ പാര്‍പ്പാന്‍ സമ്മതമായി; അവന്‍ മോശെക്കു തന്റെ മകള്‍ സിപ്പോറയെ കൊടുത്തു.

²¹Moses was content to dwell with the man. He gave Moses Zipporah, his daughter.

²²അവള്‍ ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചുഞാന്‍ അന്യദേശത്തു പരദേശി ആയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു ഗേര്‍ശോം എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

²²She bore a son, and he named him Gershom, “Gershom” sounds like the Hebrew for “an alien there.” for he said, “I have lived as a foreigner in a foreign land.”

²³ഏറെ നാള്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു മിസ്രയീംരാജാവു മരിച്ചു. യിസ്രായേല്‍മക്കള്‍ അടിമവേല നിമിത്തം നെടുവീര്‍പ്പിട്ടു നിലവിളിച്ചു; അടിമവേല ഹേതുവായുള്ള നിലവിള ദൈവസന്നിധിയില്‍ എത്തി.

²³It happened in the course of those many days, that the king of Egypt died, and the children of Israel sighed because of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up to God because of the bondage.

²⁴ദൈവം അവരുടെ നിലവിളി കേട്ടു; ദൈവം അബ്രാഹാമിനോടും യിസ്ഹാക്കിനോടും യാക്കോബിനോടും തനിക്കുള്ള നിയമവും ഔര്‍ത്തു.

²⁴God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.

²⁵ദൈവം യിസ്രായേല്‍മക്കളെ കടാക്ഷിച്ചു; ദൈവം അറിഞ്ഞു.

²⁵God saw the children of Israel, and God was concerned about them.
