1അവരുടെ മുമ്പാകെ നീ വെക്കേണ്ടുന്ന ന്യായങ്ങളാവിതു
1“Now these are the ordinances which you shall set before them.
2ഒരു എബ്രായദാസനെ വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങിയാല് ആറു സംവത്സരം സേവിച്ചിട്ടു ഏഴാം സംവത്സരത്തില് അവന് ഒന്നും കൊടുക്കാതെ സ്വതന്ത്രനായി പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ളട്ടെ.
2“If you buy a Hebrew servant, he shall serve six years and in the seventh he shall go out free without paying anything.
3ഏകനായി വന്നു എങ്കില് ഏകനായി പോകട്ടെ; അവന്നു ഭാര്യയുണ്ടായിരുന്നു എങ്കില് ഭാര്യയും അവനോടുകൂടെ പോകട്ടെ.
3If he comes in by himself, he shall go out by himself. If he is married, then his wife shall go out with him.
4അവന്റെ യജമാനന് അവന്നു ഭാര്യയെ കൊടുക്കയും അവള് അവന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയോ പുത്രിമാരെയോ പ്രസവിക്കയും ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കില് ഭാര്യയും മക്കളും യജമാനന്നു ഇരിക്കേണം; അവന് ഏകനായി പോകേണം.
4If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall be her master’s, and he shall go out by himself.
5എന്നാല് ദാസന് ഞാന് എന്റെ യജമാനനെയും എന്റെ ഭാര്യയെയും മക്കളെയും സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു; ഞാന് സ്വതന്ത്രനായി പോകയില്ല എന്നു തീര്ത്തു പറഞ്ഞാല്
5But if the servant shall plainly say, ‘I love my master, my wife, and my children. I will not go out free;’
6യജമാനന് അവനെ ദൈവസന്നിധിയില് കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു ചെന്നു കതകിന്റെയോ കട്ടളക്കാലിന്റെയോ അടുക്കല് നിറുത്തീട്ടു സൂചികൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ കാതു കുത്തി തുളക്കേണം; പിന്നെ അവന് എന്നേക്കും അവന്നു ദാസനായിരിക്കേണം.
6then his master shall bring him to God, and shall bring him to the door or to the doorpost, and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl, and he shall serve him for ever.
7ഒരുത്തന് തന്റെ പുത്രിയെ ദാസിയായി വിറ്റാല് അവള് ദാസന്മാര് പോകുന്നതു പോലെ പോകരുതു.
7“If a man sells his daughter to be a female servant, she shall not go out as the male servants do.
8അവളെ തനിക്കു സംബന്ധത്തിന്നു നിയമിച്ച യജമാനന്നു അവളെ ബോധിക്കാതിരുന്നാല് അവളെ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പാന് അവന് അനുവദിക്കേണം; അവളെ ചതിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അന്യജാതിക്കു വിറ്റുകളവാന് അവന്നു അധികാരമില്ല.
8If she doesn’t please her master, who has married her to himself, then he shall let her be redeemed. He shall have no right to sell her to a foreign people, since he has dealt deceitfully with her.
9അവന് അവളെ തന്റെ പുത്രന്നു നിയമിച്ചു എങ്കില് പുത്രിമാരുടെ ന്യായത്തിന്നു തക്കവണ്ണം അവളോടു പെരുമാറേണം.
9If he marries her to his son, he shall deal with her as a daughter.
10അവന് മറ്റൊരുത്തിയെ പരിഗ്രഹിച്ചാല് ഇവളുടെ ഉപജീവനവും ഉടുപ്പും വിവാഹമുറയും കുറെക്കരുതു.
10If he takes another wife to himself, he shall not diminish her food, her clothing, and her marital rights.
11ഈ മൂന്നു കാര്യവും അവന് അവള്ക്കു ചെയ്യാതിരുന്നാല് അവളെ പണം വാങ്ങാതെ വെറുതെ വിട്ടയക്കേണം.
11If he doesn’t do these three things for her, she may go free without paying any money.
12ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെ അടിച്ചുകൊല്ലുന്നവന് മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം.
12“One who strikes a man so that he dies shall surely be put to death,
13അവന് കരുതിക്കൂട്ടാതെ അങ്ങനെ അവന്റെ കയ്യാല് സംഭവിപ്പാന് ദൈവം സംഗതിവരുത്തിയതായാല് അവന് ഔടിപ്പോകേണ്ടുന്ന സ്ഥലം ഞാന് നിയമിക്കും.
13but not if it is unintentional, but God allows it to happen: then I will appoint you a place where he shall flee.
14എന്നാല് ഒരുത്തല് കരുതിക്കൂട്ടി കൂട്ടുകാരനെ ചതിച്ചു കൊന്നതെങ്കില് അവന് മരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ അവനെ എന്റെ യാഗപീഠത്തിങ്കല് നിന്നും പിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോകേണം.
14If a man schemes and comes presumptuously on his neighbor to kill him, you shall take him from my altar, that he may die.
15തന്റെ അപ്പനെയോ അമ്മയെയോ അടിക്കുന്നവന് മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം.
15“Anyone who attacks his father or his mother shall be surely put to death.
16ഒരുത്തന് ഒരാളെ മോഷ്ടിച്ചിട്ടു അവനെ വില്ക്കയാകട്ടെ അവന്റെ കൈവശം അവനെ കണ്ടുപിടിക്കയാകട്ടെ ചെയ്താല് അവന് മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം.
16“Anyone who kidnaps someone and sells him, or if he is found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.
17തന്റെ അപ്പനെയോ അമ്മയെയോ ശപിക്കുന്നവന് മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം.
17“Anyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.
18മനുഷ്യര് തമ്മില് ശണ്ഠകൂടീട്ടു ഒരുത്തന് മറ്റവനെ കല്ലുകൊണ്ടോ മുഷ്ടികൊണ്ടോ കുത്തിയതിനാല് അവന് മരിച്ചുപോകാതെ കിടപ്പിലാകയും
18“If men quarrel and one strikes the other with a stone, or with his fist, and he doesn’t die, but is confined to bed;
19പിന്നെയും എഴുന്നേറ്റു വടി ഊന്നി വെളിയില് നടക്കയും ചെയ്താല് കുത്തിയവനെ ശിക്ഷിക്കരുതു; എങ്കിലും അവന് അവന്റെ മിനക്കേടിന്നുവേണ്ടി കൊടുത്തു അവനെ നല്ലവണ്ണം ചികിത്സിപ്പിക്കേണം.
19if he rises again and walks around with his staff, then he who struck him shall be cleared: only he shall pay for the loss of his time, and shall provide for his healing until he is thoroughly healed.
20ഒരുത്തന് തന്റെ ദാസനെയോ ദാസിയെയോ തല്ക്ഷണം മരിച്ചുപോകത്തക്കവണ്ണം വടികൊണ്ടു അടിച്ചാല് അവനെ നിശ്ചയമായി ശിക്ഷിക്കേണം.
20“If a man strikes his servant or his maid with a rod, and he dies under his hand, he shall surely be punished.
21എങ്കിലും അവന് ഒന്നു രണ്ടു ദിവസം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നാല് അവനെ ശിക്ഷിക്കരുതു; അവന് അവന്റെ മുതലല്ലോ.
21Notwithstanding, if he gets up after a day or two, he shall not be punished, for he is his property.
22മനുഷ്യര് തമ്മില് ശണ്ഠകൂടീട്ടു ഗര്ഭിണിയായ ഒരു സ്ത്രീയെ അടിച്ചതിനാല് ഗര്ഭം അലസിയതല്ലാതെ അവള്ക്കു മറ്റൊരു ദോഷവും വന്നില്ലെങ്കില് അടിച്ചവന് ആ സ്ത്രീയുടെ ഭര്ത്താവു ചുമത്തുന്ന പിഴ കൊടുക്കേണം; ന്യായാധിപന്മാര് വിധിക്കുമ്പോലെ അവന് കൊടുക്കേണം.
22“If men fight and hurt a pregnant woman so that she gives birth prematurely, and yet no harm follows, he shall be surely fined as much as the woman’s husband demands and the judges allow.
23മറ്റു ദോഷം വന്നിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കില് ജീവന്നു പകരം ജീവന് കൊടുക്കേണം.
23But if any harm follows, then you must take life for life,
24കണ്ണിന്നു പകരം കണ്ണു; പല്ലിന്നു പകരം പല്ലു; കൈകൂ പകരം കൈ; കാലിന്നു പകരം കാല്;
24eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
25പൊള്ളലിന്നു പകരം പൊള്ളല്; മുറിവിന്നു പകരം മുറിവു; തിണര്പ്പിന്നു പകരം തിണര്പ്പു.
25burning for burning, wound for wound, and bruise for bruise.
26ഒരുത്തന് അടിച്ചു തന്റെ ദാസന്റെയോ ദാസിയുടെയോ കണ്ണു കളഞ്ഞാല് അവന് കണ്ണിന്നു പകരം അവനെ സ്വതന്ത്രനായി വിട്ടയക്കേണം.
26“If a man strikes his servant’s eye, or his maid’s eye, and destroys it, he shall let him go free for his eye’s sake.
27അവന് തന്റെ ദാസന്റെയോ ദാസിയുടെയോ പല്ലുഅടിച്ചു തകര്ത്താല് അവന് പല്ലിന്നു പകരം അവനെ സ്വതന്ത്രനായി വിട്ടയക്കേണം.
27If he strikes out his male servant’s tooth, or his female servant’s tooth, he shall let him go free for his tooth’s sake.
28ഒരു കാള ഒരു പുരുഷനെയോ സ്ത്രീയെയോ കുത്തിക്കൊന്നാല് ആ കാളയെ കല്ലെറിഞ്ഞു കൊല്ലേണം; അതിന്റെ മാംസം തിന്നരുതു; കാളയുടെ ഉടമസ്ഥനോ കുറ്റമില്ലാത്തവന് .
28“If a bull gores a man or a woman to death, the bull shall surely be stoned, and its flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the bull shall not be held responsible.
29എന്നാല് ആ കാള മുമ്പെ തന്നേ കുത്തുന്നതായും ഉടമസ്ഥന് അതു അറിഞ്ഞുമിരിക്കെ അവന് അതിനെ സൂക്ഷിക്കായ്കകൊണ്ടു അതു ഒരു പുരുഷനെയോ സ്ത്രീയെയോ കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞാല് ആ കാളയെ കല്ലെറിഞ്ഞു കൊല്ലേണം; അതിന്റെ ഉടമസ്ഥനും മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം.
29But if the bull had a habit of goring in the past, and it has been testified to its owner, and he has not kept it in, but it has killed a man or a woman, the bull shall be stoned, and its owner shall also be put to death.
30ഉദ്ധാരണ ദ്രവ്യം അവന്റെ മോല് ചുമത്തിയാല് തന്റെ ജീവന്റെ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പിന്നായി തന്റെ മേല് ചുമത്തിയതു ഒക്കെയും അവന് കൊടുക്കേണം.
30If a ransom is laid on him, then he shall give for the redemption of his life whatever is laid on him.
31അതു ഒരു ബാലനെ കുത്തിയാലും ഒരു ബാലയെ കുത്തിയാലും ഈ ന്യായപ്രകാരം അവനോടു ചെയ്യേണം.
31Whether it has gored a son or has gored a daughter, according to this judgment it shall be done to him.
32കാള ഒരു ദാസനെയോ ദാസിയെയോ കുത്തിയാല് അവന് അവരുടെ ഉടമസ്ഥന്നു മുപ്പതു ശേക്കെല് വെള്ളി കൊടുക്കേണം; കാളയെ കൊന്നുകളകയും വേണം.
32If the bull gores a male servant or a female servant, thirty shekels of silver shall be given to their master, and the ox shall be stoned.
33ഒരുത്തന് ഒരു കുഴി തുറന്നുവെക്കുകയോ കുഴി കുഴിച്ചു അതിനെ മൂടാതിരിക്കയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടു അതില് ഒരു കാളയോ കഴുതയോ വീണാല്,
33“If a man opens a pit, or if a man digs a pit and doesn’t cover it, and a bull or a donkey falls into it,
34കുഴിയുടെ ഉടമസ്ഥന് വലികൊടുത്തു അതിന്റെ യജമാനന്നു തൃപ്തിവരുത്തേണം; എന്നാല് ചത്തുപോയതു അവന്നുള്ളതായിരിക്കേണം.
34the owner of the pit shall make it good. He shall give money to its owner, and the dead animal shall be his.
35ഒരുത്തന്റെ കാള മറ്റൊരുത്തന്റെ കാളയെ കുത്തീട്ടു അതു ചത്തുപോയാല് അവര് ജീവനോടിരിക്കുന്ന കാളയെ വിറ്റു അതിന്റെ വില പകുത്തെടുക്കേണം; ചത്തുപോയതിനെയും പകുത്തെടുക്കേണം.
35“If one man’s bull injures another’s, so that it dies, then they shall sell the live bull, and divide its price; and they shall also divide the dead animal.
36അല്ലെങ്കില് ആ കാള മുമ്പെ തന്നേ കുത്തുന്നതു എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടും ഉടമസ്ഥന് അതിനെ സൂക്ഷിക്കാതിരുന്നു എങ്കില് അവന് കാളെക്കു പകരം കാളയെ കൊടുക്കേണം; എന്നാല് ചത്തുപോയതു അവന്നുള്ളതായിരിക്കേണം.
36Or if it is known that the bull was in the habit of goring in the past, and its owner has not kept it in, he shall surely pay bull for bull, and the dead animal shall be his own.
