1എന്നാല് മോശെ പര്വ്വതത്തില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവരുവാന് താമസിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ജനം കണ്ടപ്പോള് ജനം അഹരോന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുകൂടി അവനോടുനീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഞങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പില് നടക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഒരു ദൈവത്തെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി തരിക; ഞങ്ങളെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന പുരുഷനായ ഈ മോശെക്കു എന്തു ഭവിച്ചു എന്നു ഞങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
1When the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron, and said to him, “Come, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we don’t know what has become of him.”
2അഹരോന് അവരോടുനിങ്ങളുടെ ഭാര്യമാരുടെയും പുത്രന്മാരുടെയും പുത്രിമാരുടെയും കാതിലെ പൊന് കുണുകൂ പറിച്ചു എന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവരുവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
2Aaron said to them, “Take off the golden rings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them to me.”
3ജനം ഒക്കെയും തങ്ങളുടെ കാതില് നിന്നു പൊന് കുണുകൂ പറിച്ചു അഹരോന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
3All the people took off the golden rings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron.
4അവന് അതു അവരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു വാങ്ങി, ഒരു കൊത്തുളികൊണ്ടു ഭാഷവരുത്തി ഒരു കാളകൂട്ടിയെ വാര്ത്തുണ്ടാക്കി. അപ്പോള് അവര്യിസ്രായേലേ, ഇതു നിന്നെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നിന്റെ ദൈവംആകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
4He received what they handed him, and fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made it a molten calf; and they said, “These are your gods, Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt.”
5അഹരോന് അതു കണ്ടാറെ അതിന്നു മുമ്പാകെ ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിതുനാളെ യഹോവേക്കു ഒരു ഉത്സവം എന്നു വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.
5When Aaron saw this, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made a proclamation, and said, “Tomorrow shall be a feast to Yahweh.”
6പിറ്റെന്നാള് അവര് അതികാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഹോമയാഗങ്ങള് കഴിച്ചു സമാധാനയാഗങ്ങളും അര്പ്പിച്ചു; ജനം ഭക്ഷിപ്പാനും കുടിപ്പാനും ഇരുന്നു കളിപ്പാന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു.
6They rose up early on the next day, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.
7അപ്പോള് യഹോവ മോശെയോടുനീ ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെല്ലുക; നീ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നിന്റെ ജനം തങ്ങളെ തന്നേ വഷളാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
7Yahweh spoke to Moses, “Go, get down; for your people, who you brought up out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves!
8ഞാന് അവരോടു കല്പിച്ച വഴി അവര് വേഗത്തില് വിട്ടുമാറി ഒരു കാളകൂട്ടിയെ വാര്ത്തുണ്ടാക്കി നമസ്കരിച്ചു അതിന്നു യാഗം കഴിച്ചുയിസ്രായേലേ, ഇതു നിന്നെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നിന്റെ ദൈവം ആകുന്നു എന്നു പറയുന്നു എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
8They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them. They have made themselves a molten calf, and have worshiped it, and have sacrificed to it, and said, ‘These are your gods, Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt.’”
9ഞാന് ഈ ജനത്തെ നോക്കി, അതു ദുശ്ശാഠ്യമുള്ള ജനം ആകുന്നു എന്നു കണ്ടു.
9Yahweh said to Moses, “I have seen these people, and behold, they are a stiff-necked people.
10അതുകൊണ്ടു എന്റെ കോപം അവര്ക്കും വിരോധമായി ജ്വലിച്ചു ഞാന് അവരെ ദഹിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്നെ വിടുക; നിന്നെ ഞാന് വലിയോരു ജാതിയാക്കും എന്നും യഹോവ മോശെയോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
10Now therefore leave me alone, that my wrath may burn hot against them, and that I may consume them; and I will make of you a great nation.”
11എന്നാല് മോശെ തന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതുയഹോവേ, നീ മഹാബലംകൊണ്ടും ഭുജവീര്യംകൊണ്ടും മിസ്രയിംദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നിന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി നിന്റെ കോപം ജ്വലിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു?
11Moses begged Yahweh his God, and said, “Yahweh, why does your wrath burn hot against your people, that you have brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?
12മലകളില്വെച്ചു കൊന്നുകളവാനും ഭൂതലത്തില്നിന്നു നശിപ്പിപ്പാനും അവരെ ദോഷത്തിന്നായി അവന് കൊണ്ടുപോയി എന്നു മിസ്രയീമ്യരെക്കൊണ്ടു പറയിക്കുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു? നിന്റെ ഉഗ്രകോപം വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു നിന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു വരുവാനുള്ള ഈ അനര്ത്ഥത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു അനുതപിക്കേണമേ.
12Why should the Egyptians speak, saying, ‘He brought them forth for evil, to kill them in the mountains, and to consume them from the surface of the earth?’ Turn from your fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against your people.
13നിന്റെ ദാസന്മാരായ അബ്രാഹാമിനെയും യിസ്ഹാക്കിനെയും യിസ്രായേലിനെയും ഔര്ക്കേണമേ. ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ സന്തതിയെ ആകാശത്തിലെ നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളെപ്പോലെ വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കയും ഞാന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത ഈ ദേശം ഒക്കെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ സന്തതിക്കു കൊടുക്കയും അവര് അതിനെ എന്നേക്കും അവകാശമായി പ്രാപിക്കയും ചെയ്യുമെന്നു നീ നിന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു തന്നേ അവരോടു സത്യംചെയ്തുവല്ലോ.
13Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, to whom you swore by your own self, and said to them, ‘I will multiply your seed as the stars of the sky, and all this land that I have spoken of I will give to your seed, and they shall inherit it forever.’”
14അപ്പോള് യഹോവ തന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു വരുത്തും എന്നു കല്പിച്ച അനര്ത്ഥത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു അനുതപിച്ചു.
14Yahweh repented of the evil which he said he would do to his people.
15മോശെ തിരിഞ്ഞു പര്വ്വതത്തില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങി; സാക്ഷ്യത്തിന്റെ പലക രണ്ടും അവന്റെ കയ്യില് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. പലക ഇപ്പുറവും അപ്പുറവുമായി ഇരുവശത്തും എഴുതിയതായിരുന്നു.
15Moses turned, and went down from the mountain, with the two tablets of the testimony in his hand; tablets that were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other they were written.
16പലക ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പണിയും പലകയില് പതിഞ്ഞ എഴുത്തു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ എഴുത്തും ആയിരുന്നു.
16The tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, engraved on the tables.
17ജനം ആര്ത്തുവിളിക്കുന്ന ഘോഷം യോശുവ കേട്ടപ്പോള് അവന് മോശെയോടുപാളയത്തില് യുദ്ധഘോഷം ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
17When Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said to Moses, “There is the noise of war in the camp.”
18അതിന്നു അവന് ജയിച്ചു ആര്ക്കുംന്നവരുടെ ഘോഷമല്ല, തോറ്റു നിലവിളിക്കുന്നവരുടെ നിലവിളിയുമല്ല, പ്രതിഗാനം ചെയ്യുന്നവരുടെ ഘോഷമത്രേ ഞാന് കേള്ക്കുന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
18He said, “It isn’t the voice of those who shout for victory, neither is it the voice of those who cry for being overcome; but the noise of those who sing that I hear.”
19അവന് പാളയത്തിന്നു സമീപിച്ചപ്പോള് കാളകൂട്ടിയെയും നൃത്തങ്ങളെയും കണ്ടു അപ്പോള് മോശെയുടെ കോപം ജ്വലിച്ചു അവന് പലകകളെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു എറിഞ്ഞു പര്വ്വതത്തിന്റെ അടിവാരത്തുവെച്ചു പൊട്ടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
19It happened, as soon as he came near to the camp, that he saw the calf and the dancing: and Moses’ anger grew hot, and he threw the tablets out of his hands, and broke them beneath the mountain.
20അവര് ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിരുന്ന കാളകൂട്ടിയെ അവന് എടുത്തു തീയില് ഇട്ടു ചുട്ടു അരെച്ചു പൊടിയാക്കി വെള്ളത്തില് വിതറി യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളെ കുടിപ്പിച്ചു.
20He took the calf which they had made, and burnt it with fire, ground it to powder, and scattered it on the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.
21മോശെ അഹരോനോടുഈ ജനത്തിന്മേല് ഇത്രവലിയ പാപം വരുത്തുവാന് അവര് നിന്നോടു എന്തു ചെയ്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
21Moses said to Aaron, “What did these people do to you, that you have brought a great sin on them?”
22അതിന്നു അഹരോന് പറഞ്ഞതുയജമാനന്റെ കോപം ജ്വലിക്കരുതേ; ഈ ജനം ദോഷത്തിലേക്കു ചാഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നതെന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ.
22Aaron said, “Don’t let the anger of my lord grow hot. You know the people, that they are set on evil.
23ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു മുമ്പായി നടക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഒരു ദൈവത്തെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി തരേണം; ഞങ്ങളെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന പുരുഷനായ ഈ മോശെക്കു എന്തു ഭവിച്ചു എന്നു ഞങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു അവര് എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
23For they said to me, ‘Make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we don’t know what has become of him.’
24ഞാന് അവരോടുപൊന്നുള്ളവര് അതു പറിച്ചെടുക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവര് അതു എന്റെ പക്കല് തന്നു; ഞാന് അതു തീയില് ഇട്ടു ഈ കാളകൂട്ടി പുറത്തു വന്നു.
24I said to them, ‘Whoever has any gold, let them take it off:’ so they gave it to me; and I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf.”
25അവരുടെ വിരോധികള്ക്കു മുമ്പാകെ അവര് ഹാസ്യമാകത്തക്കവണ്ണം അഹരോന് അവരെ അഴിച്ചുവിട്ടു കളകയാല് ജനം കെട്ടഴിഞ്ഞവരായി എന്നു കണ്ടിട്ടു മോശെ പാളയത്തിന്റെ വാതില്ക്കല് നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു
25When Moses saw that the people had broken loose, (for Aaron had let them loose for a derision among their enemies),
26യഹോവയുടെ പക്ഷത്തില് ഉള്ളവന് എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാറെ ലേവ്യര് എല്ലാവരും അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുകൂടി.
26then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, “Whoever is on Yahweh’s side, come to me!” All the sons of Levi gathered themselves together to him.
27അവന് അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ വാള് അരെക്കു കെട്ടി പാളയത്തില്കൂടി വാതില്തോറും കടന്നു ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ സഹോദരനെയും താന്താന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനെയും താന്താന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാരനെയും കൊന്നുകളവിന് എന്നിങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ കല്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
27He said to them, “Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, ‘Every man put his sword on his thigh, and go back and forth from gate to gate throughout the camp, and every man kill his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbor.’”
28ലേവ്യര് മോശെ പറഞ്ഞതു പോലെ ചെയ്തു അന്നു ഏകദേശം മൂവായിരം പേര് വീണു.
28The sons of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.
29യഹോവ ഇന്നു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അനുഗ്രഹം നല്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് ഇന്നു ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ മകന്നും താന്താന്റെ സഹോദരന്നും വിരോധമായി യഹോവേക്കു നിങ്ങളെ തന്നേ ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുപ്പിന് എന്നു മോശെ പറഞ്ഞു.
29Moses said, “Consecrate yourselves today to Yahweh, yes, every man against his son, and against his brother; that he may bestow on you a blessing this day.”
30പിറ്റെന്നാള് മോശെനിങ്ങള് ഒരു മഹാപാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇപ്പോള് ഞാന് യഹോവയുടെ അടുക്കല് കയറിച്ചെല്ലും; പക്ഷേ നിങ്ങളുടെ പാപത്തിന്നുവേണ്ടി പ്രായശ്ചിത്തം വരുത്തുവാന് എനിക്കു ഇടയാകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
30It happened on the next day, that Moses said to the people, “You have sinned a great sin. Now I will go up to Yahweh. Perhaps I shall make atonement for your sin.”
31അങ്ങനെ മോശെ യഹോവയുടെ അടുക്കല് മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു പറഞ്ഞതു എന്തെന്നാല്അയ്യോ, ഈ ജനം മഹാപാതകം ചെയ്തു പൊന്നുകൊണ്ടു തങ്ങള്ക്കു ഒരു ദൈവത്തെ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
31Moses returned to Yahweh, and said, “Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made themselves gods of gold.
32എങ്കിലും നീ അവരുടെ പാപം ക്ഷമിക്കേണമേ; അല്ലെങ്കില് നീ എഴുതിയ നിന്റെ പുസ്തകത്തില്നിന്നു എന്റെ പേര് മായിച്ചുകളയേണമേ.
32Yet now, if you will, forgive their sin—and if not, please blot me out of your book which you have written.”
33യഹോവ മോശെയോടുഎന്നോടു പാപം ചെയ്തവന്റെ പേര് ഞാന് എന്റെ പുസ്തകത്തില്നിന്നു മായിച്ചുകളയും.
33Yahweh said to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.
34ആകയാല് നീ പോയി ഞാന് നിന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത ദേശത്തേക്കു ജനത്തെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു പോക; എന്റെ ദൂതന് നിന്റെ മുമ്പില് നടക്കും. എന്നാല് എന്റെ സന്ദര്ശനദിവസത്തില് ഞാന് അവരുടെ പാപം അവരുടെമേല് സന്ദര്ശിക്കും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
34Now go, lead the people to the place of which I have spoken to you. Behold, my angel shall go before you. Nevertheless in the day when I punish, I will punish them for their sin.”
35അഹരോന് ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ കാളകൂട്ടിയെ ജനം ഉണ്ടാക്കിച്ചതാകകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ അവരെ ദണ്ഡിപ്പിച്ചു.
35Yahweh struck the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made.
