1ഭൂമിയില് ഒക്കെയും ഒരേ ഭാഷയും ഒരേ വാക്കും ആയിരുന്നു.
1The whole earth was of one language and of one speech.
2എന്നാല് അവര് കിഴക്കോട്ടു യാത്ര ചെയ്തു, ശിനാര്ദേശത്തു ഒരു സമഭൂമി കണ്ടു അവിടെ കുടിയിരുന്നു.
2It happened, as they traveled east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they lived there.
3അവര് തമ്മില്വരുവിന് , നാം ഇഷ്ടക അറുത്തു ചുടുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവര് ഇഷ്ടക കല്ലായും പശമണ്ണു കുമ്മായമായും ഉപയോഗിച്ചു.
3They said one to another, “Come, let’s make bricks, and burn them thoroughly.” They had brick for stone, and they used tar for mortar.
4വരുവിന് , നാം ഭൂതലത്തില് ഒക്കെയും ചിതറിപ്പോകാതിരിപ്പാന് ഒരു പട്ടണവും ആകാശത്തോളം എത്തുന്ന ഒരു ഗോപുരവും പണിക; നമുക്കു ഒരു പേരുമുണ്ടാക്കുക എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു.
4They said, “Come, let’s build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top reaches to the sky, and let’s make ourselves a name, lest we be scattered abroad on the surface of the whole earth.”
5മനുഷ്യര് പണിത പട്ടണവും ഗോപുരവും കാണോണ്ടതിന്നു യഹോവ ഇറങ്ങിവന്നു.
5Yahweh came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men built.
6അപ്പോള് യഹോവഇതാ, ജനം ഒന്നു അവര്ക്കെല്ലാവര്ക്കും ഭാഷയും ഒന്നു; ഇതും അവര് ചെയ്തു തുടങ്ങുന്നു; അവര് ചെയ്വാന് നിരൂപിക്കുന്നതൊന്നും അവര്ക്കും അസാദ്ധ്യമാകയില്ല.
6Yahweh said, “Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is what they begin to do. Now nothing will be withheld from them, which they intend to do.
7വരുവിന് ; നാം ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു, അവര് തമ്മില് ഭാഷതിരിച്ചറിയാതിരിപ്പാന് അവരുടെ ഭാഷ കലക്കിക്കളക എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
7Come, let’s go down, and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.”
8അങ്ങനെ യഹോവ അവരെ അവിടെനിന്നു ഭൂതലത്തിലെങ്ങും ചിന്നിച്ചു; അവര് പട്ടണം പണിയുന്നതു വിട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.
8So Yahweh scattered them abroad from there on the surface of all the earth. They stopped building the city.
9സര്വ്വഭൂമിയിലെയും ഭാഷ യഹോവ അവിടെവെച്ചു കലക്കിക്കളകയാല് അതിന്നു ബാബേല് എന്നു പേരായി; യഹോവ അവരെ അവിടെനിന്നു ഭൂതലത്തില് എങ്ങും ചിന്നിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
9Therefore its name was called Babel, because there Yahweh confused the language of all the earth. From there, Yahweh scattered them abroad on the surface of all the earth.
10ശേമിന്റെ വംശപാരമ്പര്യമാവിതുശേമിന്നു നൂറു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് ജലപ്രളയത്തിന്നു പിമ്പു രണ്ടു സംവത്സരം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം അര്പ്പക്ഷാദിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
10This is the history of the generations of Shem. Shem was one hundred years old and became the father of Arpachshad two years after the flood.
11അര്പ്പക്ഷാദിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ശേം അഞ്ഞൂറു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
11Shem lived five hundred years after he became the father of Arpachshad, and became the father of sons and daughters.
12അര്പ്പക്ഷാദിന്നു മുപ്പത്തഞ്ചു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് ശാലഹിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
12Arpachshad lived thirty-five years and became the father of Shelah.
13ശാലഹിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം അര്പ്പക്ഷാദ് നാനൂറ്റിമൂന്നു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
13Arpachshad lived four hundred three years after he became the father of Shelah, and became the father of sons and daughters.
14ശാലഹിന്നു മുപ്പതു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് ഏബെരിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
14Shelah lived thirty years, and became the father of Eber:
15ഏബെരിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ശാലഹ് നാനൂറ്റി മൂന്നു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
15and Shelah lived four hundred three years after he became the father of Eber, and became the father of sons and daughters.
16ഏബെരിന്നു മുപ്പത്തിനാലു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് പേലെഗിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
16Eber lived thirty-four years, and became the father of Peleg.
17പേലെഗിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ഏബെര് നാനൂറ്റിമുപ്പതു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
17Eber lived four hundred thirty years after he became the father of Peleg, and became the father of sons and daughters.
18പേലെഗിന്നു മുപ്പതു വയ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് രെയൂവിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
18Peleg lived thirty years, and became the father of Reu.
19രെയൂവിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം പേലെഗ് ഇരൂനൂറ്റൊമ്പതു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
19Peleg lived two hundred nine years after he became the father of Reu, and became the father of sons and daughters.
20രെയൂവിന്നു മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ടു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് ശെരൂഗിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
20Reu lived thirty-two years, and became the father of Serug.
21ശെരൂഗിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം രെയൂ ഇരുനൂറ്റേഴു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
21Reu lived two hundred seven years after he became the father of Serug, and became the father of sons and daughters.
22ശെരൂഗിന്നു മുപ്പതു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് നാഹോരിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
22Serug lived thirty years, and became the father of Nahor.
23നാഹോരിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ശേരൂഗ് ഇരുനൂറു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
23Serug lived two hundred years after he became the father of Nahor, and became the father of sons and daughters.
24നാഹോരിന്നു ഇരുപത്തൊമ്പതു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് തേരഹിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
24Nahor lived twenty-nine years, and became the father of Terah.
25തേരഹിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം നാഹോര് നൂറ്റി പത്തൊമ്പതു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
25Nahor lived one hundred nineteen years after he became the father of Terah, and became the father of sons and daughters.
26തേരഹിന്നു എഴുപതു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് അബ്രാം, നാഹോര്, ഹാരാന് എന്നിവരെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
26Terah lived seventy years, and became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
27തേരഹിന്റെ വംശപാരമ്പര്യമാവിതുതേരഹ് അബ്രാമിനെയും നാഹോരിനെയും ഹാരാനെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; ഹാരാന് ലോത്തിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
27Now this is the history of the generations of Terah. Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Haran became the father of Lot.
28എന്നാല് ഹാരാന് തന്റെ ജന്മദേശത്തുവെച്ചു, കല്ദയരുടെ ഒരു പട്ടണമായ ഊരില്വെച്ചു തന്നേ, തന്റെ അപ്പനായ തേരഹിന്നു മുമ്പെ മരിച്ചുപോയി.
28Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldees.
29അബ്രാമും നാഹോരും ഭാര്യമാരെ എടുത്തു; അബ്രാമിന്റെ ഭാര്യെക്കു സാറായി എന്നും നാഹോരിന്റെ ഭാര്യെക്കു മില്ക്കാ എന്നും പേര്. ഇവള് മില്ക്കയുടെയും യിസ്കയുടെയും അപ്പനായ ഹാരാന്റെ മകള് തന്നെ.
29Abram and Nahor took wives. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran who was also the father of Iscah.
30സാറായി മച്ചിയായിരുന്നു; അവള്ക്കു സന്തതി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല.
30Sarai was barren. She had no child.
31തേരഹ് തന്റെ മകനായ അബ്രാമിനെയും ഹാരാന്റെ മകനായ തന്റെ പൌത്രന് ലോത്തിനെയും തന്റെ മകനായ അബ്രാമിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായി മരുമകളായ സാറായിയെയും കൂട്ടി കല്ദയരുടെ പട്ടണമായ ഊരില്നിന്നു കനാന് ദേശത്തേക്കു പോകുവാന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അവര് ഹാരാന് വരെ വന്നു അവിടെ പാര്ത്തു.
31Terah took Abram his son, Lot the son of Haran, his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram’s wife. They went from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan. They came to Haran and lived there.
32തേരഹിന്റെ ആയുഷ്കാലം ഇരുനൂറ്റഞ്ചു സംവത്സരം ആയിരുന്നു; തേരഹ് ഹാരാനില്വെച്ചു മരിച്ചു.
32The days of Terah were two hundred five years. Terah died in Haran.
