1എന്നാല്‍ കഷ്ടതയില്‍ ഇരുന്ന ദേശത്തിന്നു തിമിരം നില്‍ക്കയില്ല; പണ്ടു അവന്‍ സെബൂലൂന്‍ ദേശത്തിന്നു നഫ്താലിദേശത്തിന്നും ഹീനത വരുത്തിയെങ്കിലും പിന്നത്തേതില്‍ അവന്‍ കടല്‍വഴിയായി യോര്‍ദ്ദാന്നക്കരെയുള്ള ജാതികളുടെ മണ്ഡലത്തിന്നു മഹത്വം വരുത്തും.
1But there shall be no more gloom for her who was in anguish. In the former time, he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali; but in the latter time he has made it glorious, by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.
2ഇരുട്ടില്‍ നടന്ന ജനം വലിയൊരു വെളിച്ചം കണ്ടു; അന്ധതമസ്സുള്ള ദേശത്തു പാര്‍ത്തവരുടെ മേല്‍ പ്രകാശം ശോഭിച്ചു.
2The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. Those who lived in the land of the shadow of death, on them the light has shined.
3നീ വര്‍ദ്ധിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്ത ജാതിയെ വര്‍ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; അവര്‍ നിന്റെ സന്നിധിയില്‍ സന്തോഷിക്കുന്ന സന്തോഷം കൊയ്ത്തുകാലത്തിലെ സന്തോഷംപോലെയും കൊള്ളപങ്കിടുമ്പോള്‍ ആനന്ദിക്കുന്നതു പോലെയും ആകുന്നു.
3You have multiplied the nation. You have increased their joy. They rejoice before you according to the joy in harvest, as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
4അവന്‍ ചുമക്കുന്ന നുകവും അവന്റെ ചുമലിലെ കോലും അവനെ ദണ്ഡിപ്പിക്കുന്നവന്റെ വടിയും മിദ്യാന്റെ നാളിലെപ്പോലെ നീ ഒടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.
4For the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, you have broken as in the day of Midian.
5ഒച്ചയോടെ ചവിട്ടി നടക്കുന്ന യോദ്ധാവിന്റെ ചെരിപ്പൊക്കെയും രക്തംപിരണ്ട വസ്ത്രവും വിറകുപോലെ തീക്കു ഇരയായിത്തീരും.
5For all the armor of the armed man in the noisy battle, and the garments rolled in blood, will be for burning, fuel for the fire.
6നമുക്കു ഒരു ശിശു ജനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നമുക്കു ഒരു മകന്‍ നല്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; ആധിപത്യം അവന്റെ തോളില്‍ ഇരിക്കും; അവന്നു അത്ഭുതമന്ത്രി, വീരനാം ദൈവം, നിത്യപിതാവു, സമാധാന പ്രഭു എന്നു പേര്‍ വിളിക്കപ്പെടും.
6For to us a child is born. To us a son is given; and the government will be on his shoulders. His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
8കര്‍ത്താവു യാക്കോബില്‍ ഒരു വചനം അയച്ചു; അതു യിസ്രായേലിന്മേല്‍ വീണും ഇരിക്കുന്നു.
7Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, on the throne of David, and on his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from that time on, even forever. The zeal of Yahweh of Armies will perform this.
9ഇഷ്ടികകള്‍ വീണുപോയി എങ്കിലും ഞങ്ങള്‍ വെട്ടുകല്ലുകൊണ്ടു പണിയും; കാട്ടത്തികളെ വെട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞു എങ്കിലും ഞങ്ങള്‍ അവേക്കു പകരം ദേവദാരുക്കളെ നട്ടുകൊള്ളും
8The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it falls on Israel.
10എന്നിങ്ങനെ ഡംഭത്തോടും ഹൃദയഗര്‍വ്വത്തോടുംകൂടെ പറയുന്ന എഫ്രയീമും ശമര്‍യ്യനിവാസികളുമായ ജനമൊക്കെയും അതു അറിയും.
9All the people will know, including Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria, who say in pride and in arrogance of heart,
11അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ രെസീന്റെ വൈരികളെ അവന്റെ നേരെ ഉയര്‍ത്തി, അവന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളെ ഇളക്കിവിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.
10“The bricks have fallen, but we will build with cut stone. The sycamore fig trees have been cut down, but we will put cedars in their place.”
12അരാമ്യര്‍ കിഴക്കും ഫെലിസ്ത്യര്‍ പടിഞ്ഞാറും തന്നേ; അവര്‍ യിസ്രായേലിനെ വായ് പിളര്‍ന്നു വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളയും. ഇതെല്ലാംകൊണ്ടും അവന്റെ കോപം അടങ്ങാതെ അവന്റെ കൈ ഇനിയും നീട്ടിയിരിക്കും.
11Therefore Yahweh will set up on high against him the adversaries of Rezin, and will stir up his enemies,
13എന്നിട്ടും ജനം തങ്ങളെ അടിക്കുന്നവങ്കലേക്കു തിരിയുന്നില്ല; സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.
12The Syrians in front, and the Philistines behind; and they will devour Israel with open mouth. For all this, his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
14അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലില്‍നിന്നു തലയും വാലും പനമ്പട്ടയും പോട്ടപ്പുല്ലും ഒരു ദിവസത്തില്‍ തന്നേ ഛേദിച്ചുകളയും.
13Yet the people have not turned to him who struck them, neither have they sought Yahweh of Armies.
15മൂപ്പനും മൂന്യപുരുഷനും തന്നേ തല; അസത്യം ഉപദേശിക്കുന്ന പ്രവാചകന്‍ തന്നേ വാല്‍.
14Therefore Yahweh will cut off from Israel head and tail, palm branch and reed, in one day.
16ഈ ജനത്തെ നടത്തുന്നവര്‍ അവരെ തെറ്റിച്ചുകളയുന്നു; അവരാല്‍ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നവര്‍ നശിച്ചുപോകുന്നു.
15The elder and the honorable man is the head, and the prophet who teaches lies is the tail.
17അതുകൊണ്ടു കര്‍ത്താവു അവരുടെ യൌവനക്കാരില്‍ സന്തോഷിക്കയില്ല; അവരുടെ അനാഥന്മാരോടും വിധവമാരോടും അവന്നു കരുണ തോന്നുകയുമില്ല; എല്ലാവരും വഷളന്മാരും ദുഷ്കര്‍മ്മികളും ആകുന്നു; എല്ലാവായും ഭോഷത്വം സംസാരിക്കുന്നു. ഇതു എല്ലാം കൊണ്ടും അവന്റെ കോപം അടങ്ങാതെ അവന്റെ കൈ ഇനിയും നീട്ടിയിരിക്കും.
16For those who lead this people lead them astray; and those who are led by them are destroyed.
18ദുഷ്ടത തീപോലെ ജ്വലിക്കുന്നു; അതു പറക്കാരയും മുള്ളും ദഹിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; വനത്തിലെ പള്ളക്കാടുകളില്‍ കത്തുന്നു; പുകത്തൂണുകളായി ഉരുണ്ടുപൊങ്ങും.
17Therefore the Lord will not rejoice over their young men, neither will he have compassion on their fatherless and widows; for everyone is profane and an evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
19സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ കോപംനിമിത്തം ദേശം ദഹിച്ചുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു; ജനവും തീക്കു ഇരയായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഒരുത്തനും തന്റെ സഹോദരനെ ആദരിക്കുന്നില്ല.
18For wickedness burns like a fire. It devours the briers and thorns; yes, it kindles in the thickets of the forest, and they roll upward in a column of smoke.
20ഒരുത്തന്‍ വലത്തുഭാഗം കടിച്ചുപറിച്ചിട്ടും വിശന്നിരിക്കും; ഇടത്തുഭാഗവും തിന്നും; തൃപ്തിവരികയുമില്ല; ഔരോരുത്തന്‍ താന്താന്റെ ഭുജത്തിന്റെ മാംസം തിന്നുകളയുന്നു.
19Through the wrath of Yahweh of Armies, the land is burnt up; and the people are the fuel for the fire. No one spares his brother.
21മനശ്ശെ എഫ്രയീമിനെയും എഫ്രയീം മനശ്ശെയെയും തന്നേ; അവര്‍ ഇരുവരും യെഹൂദെക്കു വിരോധമായിരിക്കുന്നു. ഇതെല്ലാംകൊണ്ടും അവന്റെ കോപം അടങ്ങാതെ അവന്റെ കൈ ഇനിയും നീട്ടിയിരിക്കും.
20One will devour on the right hand, and be hungry; and he will eat on the left hand, and they will not be satisfied. Everyone will eat the flesh of his own arm:
21Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh; and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
