1യേശു യോഹന്നാനെക്കാള്‍ അധികം ശിഷ്യന്മാരെ ചേര്‍ത്തു സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പരീശന്മാര്‍ കേട്ടു എന്നു കര്‍ത്താവു അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ —
1Therefore when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John
2ശിഷ്യന്മാര്‍ അല്ലാതെ, യേശു തന്നേ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചില്ലതാനും —
2(although Jesus himself didn’t baptize, but his disciples),
3അവന്‍ യെഹൂദ്യദേശം വിട്ടു പിന്നെയും ഗലീലെക്കു യാത്രയായി. അവന്‍ ശമര്യയില്‍കൂടി കടന്നുപോകേണ്ടിവന്നു.
3he left Judea, and departed into Galilee.
4അങ്ങനെ അവന്‍ സുഖാര്‍ എന്നൊരു ശമര്യപട്ടണത്തില്‍ യാക്കോബ് തന്റെ പുത്രനായയോസേഫിന്നു കൊടുത്ത നിലത്തിന്നരികെ എത്തി. അവിടെ യാക്കോബിന്റെ ഉറവുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. യേശു വഴി നടന്നു ക്ഷീണിച്ചിട്ടു ഉറവിന്നരികെ ഇരുന്നു; അപ്പോള്‍ ഏകദേശം ആറാം മണിനേരം ആയിരുന്നു.
4He needed to pass through Samaria.
5ഒരു ശമര്യസ്ത്രീ വെള്ളം കോരുവാന്‍ വന്നു; യേശു അവളോടുഎനിക്കു കുടിപ്പാന്‍ തരുമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
5So he came to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son, Joseph.
6അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാര്‍ ഭക്ഷണസാധനങ്ങളെ കൊള്ളുവാന്‍ പട്ടണത്തില്‍ പോയിരുന്നു.
6Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being tired from his journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour noon .
7ശമര്യസ്ത്രീ അവനോടുനീ യെഹൂദന്‍ ആയിരിക്കെ ശമര്യക്കാരത്തിയായ എന്നോടു കുടിപ്പാന്‍ ചോദിക്കുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. യെഹൂദന്മാര്‍ക്കും ശമര്യര്‍ക്കും തമ്മില്‍ സമ്പര്‍ക്കമില്ല —
7A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.”
8അതിന്നു യേശുനീ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദാനവും നിന്നോടു കുടിപ്പാന്‍ ചോദിക്കുന്നവന്‍ ആരെന്നും അറിഞ്ഞു എങ്കില്‍ നീ അവനോടു ചോദിക്കയും അവന്‍ ജീവനുള്ള വെള്ളം നിനക്കു തരികയും ചെയ്യുമായിരുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
8For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.
9സ്ത്രീ അവനോടുയജമാനനേ, നിനക്കു കോരുവാന്‍ പാത്രം ഇല്ലല്ലോ; കിണറു ആഴമുള്ളതാകുന്നു; പിന്നെ ജീവനുള്ള വെള്ളം നിനക്കു എവിടെ നിന്നു?
9The Samaritan woman therefore said to him, “How is it that you, being a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)
10നമ്മുടെ പിതാവായ യാക്കോബിനെക്കാള്‍ നീ വലിയവനോ? അവന്‍ ആകുന്നു ഈ കിണറു ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കു തന്നതു; അവനും അവന്റെ മക്കളും മൃഗങ്ങളും ഇതിലെ വെള്ളം കുടിച്ചു പോന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
10Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”
11യേശു അവളോടുഈ വെള്ളം കുടിക്കുന്നവന്നു എല്ലാം പിന്നെയും ദാഹിക്കും.
11The woman said to him, “Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. From where then have you that living water?
12ഞാന്‍ കൊടുക്കുന്ന വെള്ളം കുടിക്കുന്നവന്നോ ഒരുനാളും ദാഹിക്കയില്ല; ഞാന്‍ കൊടുക്കുന്ന വെള്ളം അവനില്‍ നിത്യജീവങ്കലേക്കു പൊങ്ങിവരുന്ന നീരുറവായിത്തീരും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
12Are you greater than our father, Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank of it himself, as did his children, and his livestock?”
13സ്ത്രീ അവനാടുയജമാനനേ, എനിക്കു ദാഹിക്കാതെയും ഞാന്‍ കോരുവാന്‍ ഇവിടത്തോളം വരാതെയുമിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ആ വെള്ളം എനിക്കു തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
13Jesus answered her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again,
14യേശു അവളോടുപോയി ഭര്‍ത്താവിനെ വിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുവരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never thirst again; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”
15എനിക്കു ഭര്‍ത്താവു ഇല്ല എന്നുസ്ത്രീ അവനോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതിന്നുഎനിക്കു ഭര്‍ത്താവു ഇല്ല എന്നു നീ പറഞ്ഞതു ശരി.
15The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I don’t get thirsty, neither come all the way here to draw.”
16അഞ്ചു ഭര്‍ത്താക്കന്മാര്‍ നിനക്കു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഇപ്പോള്‍ ഉള്ളവനോ ഭര്‍ത്താവല്ല; നീ പറഞ്ഞതു സത്യം തന്നേ എന്നു യേശു പറഞ്ഞു.
16Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.”
17സ്ത്രീ അവനോടുയജമാനനേ, നീ പ്രവാചകന്‍ എന്നു ഞാന്‍ കാണുന്നു.
17The woman answered, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You said well, ‘I have no husband,’
18ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര്‍ ഈ മലയില്‍ നമസ്കരിച്ചുവന്നു; നമസ്കരിക്കേണ്ടുന്ന സ്ഥലം യെരൂശലേമില്‍ ആകുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള്‍ പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
18 for you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband. This you have said truly.”
19യേശു അവളോടു പറഞ്ഞതുസ്ത്രീയേ, എന്റെ വാക്കു വിശ്വസിക്ക; നിങ്ങള്‍ പിതാവിനെ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നതു ഈ മലയിലും അല്ല യെരൂശലേമിലും അല്ല എന്നുള്ള നാഴിക വരുന്നു.
19The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.
20നിങ്ങള്‍ അറിയാത്തതിനെ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നു. ഞങ്ങളോ അറിയുന്നതിനെ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നു; രക്ഷ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ഇടയില്‍ നിന്നല്ലോ വരുന്നതു.
20Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship.”
21സത്യനമസ്കാരികള്‍ പിതാവിനെ ആത്മാവിലും സത്യത്തിലും നമസ്കരിക്കുന്ന നാഴിക വരുന്നു; ഇപ്പോള്‍ വന്നുമിരിക്കുന്നു. തന്നേ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നവര്‍ ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ളവര്‍ ആയിരിക്കേണം എന്നു പിതാവു ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നു.
21Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour comes, when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, will you worship the Father.
22ദൈവം ആത്മാവു ആകുന്നു; അവനെ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നവര്‍ ആത്മാവിലും സത്യത്തിലും നമസ്കരിക്കേണം.
22 You worship that which you don’t know. We worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews.
23സ്ത്രീ അവനോടുമശീഹ — എന്നുവെച്ചാല്‍ ക്രിസ്തു — വരുന്നു എന്നു ഞാന്‍ അറിയുന്നു; അവന്‍ വരുമ്പോള്‍ സകലവും അറിയിച്ചുതരും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
23 But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to be his worshippers.
24യേശു അവളോടുനിന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ഞാന്‍ തന്നേ മശീഹ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
25ഇതിന്നിടയില്‍ അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാര്‍ വന്നു അവന്‍ സ്ത്രീയോടു സംസാരിക്കയാല്‍ ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു എങ്കിലുംനീ എന്തു ചോദിക്കുന്നു? അവളോടു എന്തു സംസാരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ആരും ചോദിച്ചില്ല.
25The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah comes,” (he who is called Christ). “When he has come, he will declare to us all things.”
26അനന്തരം സ്ത്രീ പാത്രം വെച്ചിട്ടു പട്ടണത്തില്‍ ചെന്നു ജനങ്ങളോടു
26Jesus said to her, “I am he, the one who speaks to you.”
27ഞാന്‍ ചെയ്തതു ഒക്കെയും എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞ ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെ വന്നുകാണ്മിന്‍ ; അവന്‍ പക്ഷേ ക്രിസ്തു ആയിരിക്കുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
27At this, his disciples came. They marveled that he was speaking with a woman; yet no one said, “What are you looking for?” or, “Why do you speak with her?”
28അവര്‍ പട്ടണത്തില്‍ നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു അവന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ വന്നു.
28So the woman left her water pot, and went away into the city, and said to the people,
29അതിന്നിടയില്‍ ശിഷ്യന്മാര്‍ അവനോടുറബ്ബീ, ഭക്ഷിച്ചാലും എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
29“Come, see a man who told me everything that I did. Can this be the Christ?”
30അതിന്നു അവന്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ അറിയാത്ത ആഹാരം ഭക്ഷിപ്പാന്‍ എനിക്കു ഉണ്ടു എന്നു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
30They went out of the city, and were coming to him.
31ആകയാല്‍ വല്ലവനും അവന്നു ഭക്ഷിപ്പാന്‍ കൊണ്ടുവന്നുവോ എന്നു ശിഷ്യന്മാര്‍ തമ്മില്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.
31In the meanwhile, the disciples urged him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.”
32യേശു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഎന്നെ അയച്ചവന്റെ ഇഷ്ടം ചെയ്തു അവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തി തികെക്കുന്നതു തന്നെ എന്റെ ആഹാരം.
32But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you don’t know about.”
33ഇനി നാലു മാസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു കൊയ്ത്തു വരുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള്‍ പറയുന്നില്ലയോ? നിങ്ങള്‍ തല പൊക്കി നോക്കിയാല്‍ നിലങ്ങള്‍ ഇപ്പോള്‍ തന്നേ കൊയ്ത്തിന്നു വെളുത്തിരിക്കുന്നതു കാണും എന്നു ഞാന്‍ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.
33The disciples therefore said one to another, “Has anyone brought him something to eat?”
34വിതെക്കുന്നവനും കൊയ്യുന്നവനം ഒരുമിച്ചു സന്തോഷിപ്പാന്‍ തക്കവണ്ണം കൊയ്യുന്നവന്‍ കൂലി വാങ്ങി നിത്യജീവങ്കലേക്കു വിളവു കൂട്ടിവെക്കുന്നു.
34Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me, and to accomplish his work.
35വിതെക്കുന്നതു ഒരുത്തന്‍ , കൊയ്യുന്നതു മറ്റൊരുത്തന്‍ എന്നുള്ള പഴഞ്ചൊല്‍ ഇതില്‍ ഒത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
35 Don’t you say, ‘There are yet four months until the harvest?’ Behold, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and look at the fields, that they are white for harvest already.
36നിങ്ങള്‍ അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്തതു കൊയ്‍വാന്‍ ഞാന്‍ നിങ്ങളെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; മറ്റുള്ളവര്‍ അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചു; അവരുടെ അദ്ധ്വാനഫലത്തിലേക്കു നിങ്ങള്‍ പ്രവേശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
36 He who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit to eternal life; that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.
37ഞാന്‍ ചെയ്തതു ഒക്കെയും അവന്‍ എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞു എന്നു സ്ത്രീ സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കു നിമിത്തം ആ പട്ടണത്തിലെ പല ശമര്യരും അവനില്‍ വിശ്വസിച്ചു.
37 For in this the saying is true, ‘One sows, and another reaps.’
38അങ്ങനെ ശമര്യര്‍ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ വന്നു തങ്ങളോടു കൂടെ പാര്‍ക്കേണം എന്നു അവനോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു; അവന്‍ രണ്ടുനാള്‍ അവിടെ പാര്‍ത്തു.
38 I sent you to reap that for which you haven’t labored. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.”
39ഏറ്റവും അധികംപേര്‍ അവന്റെ വചനം കേട്ടു വിശ്വസിച്ചു
39From that city many of the Samaritans believed in him because of the word of the woman, who testified, “He told me everything that I did.”
40ഇനി നിന്റെ വാക്കുകൊണ്ടല്ല ഞങ്ങള്‍ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നതു; ഞങ്ങള്‍ തന്നേ കേള്‍ക്കയും അവന്‍ സാക്ഷാല്‍ ലോകരക്ഷിതാവു എന്നു അറികയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു സ്ത്രീയോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
40So when the Samaritans came to him, they begged him to stay with them. He stayed there two days.
41രണ്ടു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവന്‍ അവിടം വിട്ടു ഗലീലെക്കു പോയി.
41Many more believed because of his word.
42പ്രവാചകന്നു തന്റെ പിതൃദേശത്തു ബഹുമാനം ഇല്ല എന്നു യേശു തന്നേ സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.
42They said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of your speaking; for we have heard for ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.”
43അവന്‍ ഗലീലയില്‍ എത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ ഗലീലക്കാര്‍ തങ്ങളും പെരുന്നാളിന്നു പോയി അവന്‍ യെരൂശലേമില്‍വെച്ചു പെരുനാളില്‍ ചെയ്തതു ഒക്കെയും കണ്ടതുകൊണ്ടു അവനെ അംഗീകരിച്ചു.
43After the two days he went out from there and went into Galilee.
44അവന്‍ പിന്നെയും താന്‍ വെള്ളം വീഞ്ഞാക്കിയ ഗലീലയിലെ കാനാവില്‍ വന്നു. അന്നു മകന്‍ രോഗിയായിരുന്നോരു രാജഭൃത്യന്‍ കഫര്‍ന്നഹൂമില്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
44For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.
45യേശു യെഹൂദ്യദേശത്തുനിന്നു ഗലീലയില്‍ വന്നു എന്നു അവന്‍ കേട്ടു അവന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ ചെന്നു, തന്റെ മകന്‍ മരിപ്പാറായിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു അവന്‍ വന്നു അവനെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കേണം എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
45So when he came into Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all the things that he did in Jerusalem at the feast, for they also went to the feast.
46യേശു അവനോടുനിങ്ങള്‍ അടയാളങ്ങളും അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും കണ്ടിട്ടല്ലാതെ വിശ്വസിക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
46Jesus came therefore again to Cana of Galilee, where he made the water into wine. There was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum.
47രാജഭൃത്യന്‍ അവനോടുകര്‍ത്താവേ, പൈതല്‍ മരിക്കുംമുമ്പേ വരേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
47When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to him, and begged him that he would come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death.
48യേശു അവനോടുപൊയ്ക്കൊള്‍ക; നിന്റെ മകന്‍ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. യേശു പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കു വിശ്വസിച്ചു ആ മനുഷ്യന്‍ പോയി.
48Jesus therefore said to him, “Unless you see signs and wonders, you will in no way believe.”
49അവന്‍ പോകയില്‍ അവന്റെ ദാസന്മാര്‍ അവനെ എതിരേറ്റു മകന്‍ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
49The nobleman said to him, “Sir, come down before my child dies.”
50അവന്നു ഭേദം വന്ന നാഴിക അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അവര്‍ അവനോടുഇന്നലെ ഏഴുമണിക്കു പനി വിട്ടുമാറി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
50Jesus said to him, “Go your way. Your son lives.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way.
51ആകയാല്‍ നിന്റെ മകന്‍ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യേശു പറഞ്ഞ നാഴികയില്‍ തന്നേ എന്നു അപ്പന്‍ ഗ്രഹിച്ചു താനും കുടുംബം ഒക്കെയും വിശ്വസിച്ചു.
51As he was now going down, his servants met him and reported, saying “Your child lives!”
52യേശു യെഹൂദ്യയില്‍ നിന്നു ഗലീലയില്‍ വന്നപ്പോള്‍ ഇതു രണ്ടാമത്തെ അടയാളമായിട്ടു ചെയ്തു.
52So he inquired of them the hour when he began to get better. They said therefore to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour, 1:00 P. M. the fever left him.”
53So the father knew that it was at that hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives.” He believed, as did his whole house.
54This is again the second sign that Jesus did, having come out of Judea into Galilee.
