1തീബെര്‍യ്യൊസ് കൈസരുടെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ പതിനഞ്ചാം ആണ്ടില്‍ പൊന്തിയൊസ് പീലാത്തൊസ് യെഹൂദ്യനാടു വാഴുമ്പോള്‍, ഹെരോദാവു ഗലീലയിലും അവന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ഫീലിപ്പൊസ് ഇരൂര്‍യ്യത്രഖോനിത്തിദേശങ്ങളിലും ലുസാന്യാസ് അബിലേനയിലും
1Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,
2ഇടപ്രഭൂക്കന്മാരായും ഹന്നാവും കയ്യഫാവും മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരായും ഇരിക്കും കാലം സെഖര്‍യ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യോഹന്നാന്നു മരുഭൂമിയില്‍വെച്ചു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു ഉണ്ടായി.
2in the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John, the son of Zacharias, in the wilderness.
3അവന്‍ യോര്‍ദ്ദാന്നരികെയുള്ള നാട്ടില്‍ ഒക്കെയും വന്നു പാപമോചനത്തിനായുള്ള മാനസാന്തരസ്നാനം പ്രസംഗിച്ചു.
3He came into all the region around the Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for remission of sins.
4“മരുഭൂമിയില്‍ വിളിച്ചുപറയുന്നവന്റെ വാക്കാവിതുകര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ വഴി ഒരുക്കുവിന്‍ ; അവന്റെ പാത നിരപ്പാക്കുവിന്‍ .”
4As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Make ready the way of the Lord. Make his paths straight.
5എല്ലാതാഴ്വരയും നികന്നുവരും; എല്ലാമലയും കുന്നും താഴും; വളഞ്ഞതു ചൊവ്വായും ദുര്‍ഘടമായതു നിരന്ന വഴിയായും തീരും; സകലജഡവും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ രക്ഷയെ കാണും” എന്നിങ്ങനെ യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന്റെ പുസ്തകത്തില്‍ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതു പോലെ തന്നേ.
5Every valley will be filled. Every mountain and hill will be brought low. The crooked will become straight, and the rough ways smooth.
6അവനാല്‍ സ്നാനം ഏല്പാന്‍ വന്ന പുരുഷാരത്തോടു അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞതുസര്‍പ്പസന്തതികളേ, വരുവാനുള്ള കോപത്തെ ഒഴിഞ്ഞ് ഔടിപ്പോകുവാന്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു ഉപദേശിച്ചുതന്നതു ആര്‍?
6All flesh will see God’s salvation.’” Isaiah 40:3-5
7മാനസാന്തരത്തിന്നു യോഗ്യമായ ഫലം കായിപ്പിന്‍ . അബ്രാഹാം ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കു പിതാവായിട്ടുണ്ടു; എന്നു ഉള്ളം കൊണ്ടു പറവാന്‍ തുനിയരുതു; അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു ഈ കല്ലുകളില്‍ നിന്നു മക്കളെ ഉളവാക്കുവാന്‍ ദൈവത്തിന്നു കഴിയും എന്നു ഞാന്‍ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.
7He said therefore to the multitudes who went out to be baptized by him, “You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8ഇപ്പോള്‍ തന്നേ വൃക്ഷങ്ങളുടെ ചുവട്ടിന്നു കോടാലി വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നല്ല ഫലം കായ്ക്കാത്ത വൃക്ഷം എല്ലാം വെട്ടി തീയില്‍ ഇട്ടുകളയുന്നു.
8Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and don’t begin to say among yourselves, ‘We have Abraham for our father;’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones!
9എന്നാല്‍ ഞങ്ങള്‍ എന്തു ചെയ്യേണം എന്നു പുരുഷാരം അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചു.
9Even now the axe also lies at the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that doesn’t bring forth good fruit is cut down, and thrown into the fire.”
10അതിന്നു അവന്‍ രണ്ടു വസ്ത്രമുള്ളവന്‍ ഇല്ലാത്തവന്നു കൊടുക്കട്ടെ; ഭക്ഷണസാധനങ്ങള്‍ ഉള്ളവനും അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ചെയ്യട്ടെ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
10The multitudes asked him, “What then must we do?”
11ചുങ്കക്കാരും സ്നാനം ഏല്പാന്‍ വന്നുഗുരോ, ഞങ്ങള്‍ എന്തുചെയ്യേണം എന്നു അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചു.
11He answered them, “He who has two coats, let him give to him who has none. He who has food, let him do likewise.”
12നിങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ചതില്‍ അധികം ഒന്നും പിരിക്കരുതു എന്നു അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.
12Tax collectors also came to be baptized, and they said to him, “Teacher, what must we do?”
13പടജ്ജനവും അവനോടുഞങ്ങള്‍ എന്തു ചെയ്യേണം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുആരെയും ബലാല്‍ക്കാരം ചെയ്യാതെയും ചതിയായി ഒന്നും വാങ്ങാതെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ ശമ്പളം മതി എന്നു വെപ്പിന്‍ എന്നു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
13He said to them, “Collect no more than that which is appointed to you.”
14ജനം കാത്തു നിന്നു; അവന്‍ ക്രിസ്തുവോ എന്നു എല്ലാവരുംഹൃദയത്തില്‍ യോഹന്നാനെക്കുറിച്ചു വിചാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍
14Soldiers also asked him, saying, “What about us? What must we do?” He said to them, “Extort from no one by violence, neither accuse anyone wrongfully. Be content with your wages.”
15യോഹന്നാന്‍ എല്ലാവരോടും ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതുഞാന്‍ നിങ്ങളെ വെള്ളംകൊണ്ടു സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; എന്നാല്‍ എന്നിലും ബലവാനായവന്‍ വരുന്നു; അവന്റെ ചെരിപ്പിന്റെ വാറു അഴിപ്പാന്‍ ഞാന്‍ യോഗ്യനല്ല; അവന്‍ നിങ്ങളെ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവുകൊണ്ടും തീകൊണ്ടും സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കും.
15As the people were in expectation, and all men reasoned in their hearts concerning John, whether perhaps he was the Christ,
16അവന്നു വീശുമുറം കയ്യില്‍ ഉണ്ടു; അവന്‍ കളത്തെ മുറ്റും വെടിപ്പാക്കി കോതമ്പു കളപ്പുരയില്‍ കൂട്ടിവെക്കയും പതിര്‍ കെടാത്ത തീയില്‍ ഇട്ടു ചുട്ടുകളകയും ചെയ്യും.
16John answered them all, “I indeed baptize you with water, but he comes who is mightier than I, the latchet of whose sandals I am not worthy to loosen. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and fire,
17മറ്റു പലതും അവന്‍ പ്രബോധിപ്പിച്ചു കൊണ്ടു ജനത്തോടു സുവിശേഷം അറിയിച്ചു.
17whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor, and will gather the wheat into his barn; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
18എന്നാല്‍ ഇടപ്രഭുവായ ഹെരോദാവു സഹോദരന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഹെരോദ്യനിമിത്തവും ഹെരോദാവു ചെയ്ത സകലദോഷങ്ങള്‍ നിമിത്തവും യോഹന്നാന്‍ അവനെ ആക്ഷേപിക്കയാല്‍
18Then with many other exhortations he preached good news to the people,
19അതെല്ലാം ചെയ്തതു കൂടാതെ അവനെ തടവില്‍ ആക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
19but Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias, his brother’s TR reads “brother Philip’s” instead of “brother’s” wife, and for all the evil things which Herod had done,
20ജനം എല്ലാം സ്നാനം ഏലക്കുകയില്‍ യേശുവും സ്നാനം ഏറ്റു പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ സ്വര്‍ഗ്ഗം തുറന്നു,
20added this also to them all, that he shut up John in prison.
21പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു ദേഹരൂപത്തില്‍ പ്രാവു എന്നപോലെ അവന്റെമേല്‍ ഇറങ്ങിവന്നു. നീ എന്റെ പ്രിയ പുത്രന്‍ ; നിന്നില്‍ ഞാന്‍ പ്രസാദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു സ്വര്‍ഗ്ഗത്തില്‍ നിന്നു ഒരു ശബ്ദവും ഉണ്ടായി.
21Now it happened, when all the people were baptized, Jesus also had been baptized, and was praying. The sky was opened,
22യേശുവിന്നു താന്‍ പ്രവൃത്തി ആരംഭിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ ഏകദേശം മുപ്പതു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു. അവന്‍ യോസേഫിന്റെ മകന്‍ എന്നു ജനം വിചാരിച്ചു;
22and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form as a dove on him; and a voice came out of the sky, saying “You are my beloved Son. In you I am well pleased.”
23യോസേഫ് ഹേലിയുടെ മകന്‍ , ഹേലി മത്ഥാത്തിന്റെ മകന്‍ , മത്ഥാത്ത് ലേവിയുടെ മകന്‍ , ലേവി മെല്‍ക്കിയുടെ മകന്‍ , മെല്‍ക്കി യന്നായിയുടെ മകന്‍ , യന്നായി
23Jesus himself, when he began to teach, was about thirty years old, being the son (as was supposed) of Joseph, the son of Heli,
