¹ഹെരോദാരാജാവിന്റെ കാലത്തു യേശു യെഹൂദ്യയിലെ ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമില്‍ ജനിച്ചശേഷം, കിഴക്കുനിന്നു വിദ്വാന്മാര്‍ യെരൂശലേമില്‍ എത്തി.

¹Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of King Herod, behold, wise men The word for “wise men” (magoi) can also mean teachers, scientists, physicians, astrologers, seers, interpreters of dreams, or sorcerers. from the east came to Jerusalem, saying,

²യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവായി പിറന്നവന്‍ എവിടെ? ഞങ്ങള്‍ അവന്റെ നക്ഷത്രം കിഴക്കു കണ്ടു അവനെ നമസ്കരിപ്പാന്‍ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²“Where is he who is born King of the Jews? For we saw his star in the east, and have come to worship him.”

³ഹെരോദാരാജാവു അതു കേട്ടിട്ടു അവനും യെരൂശലേം ഒക്കെയും ഭ്രമിച്ചു,

³When King Herod heard it, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.

⁴ജനത്തിന്റെ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരെയും ശാസ്ത്രിമാരെയും എല്ലാം കൂട്ടിവരുത്തിക്രിസ്തു എവിടെ ആകുന്നു ജനിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചു.

⁴Gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he asked them where the Christ would be born.

⁵അവര്‍ അവനോടുയെഹൂദ്യയിലെ ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമില്‍ തന്നേ

⁵They said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for this is written through the prophet,

⁶“യെഹൂദ്യദേശത്തിലെ ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമേ, നീ യെഹൂദ്യപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരില്‍ ഒട്ടും ചെറുതല്ല; എന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിനെ മേയ്പാനുള്ള തലവന്‍ നിന്നില്‍ നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുവരും” എന്നിങ്ങനെ പ്രവാചകന്‍ മുഖാന്തരം എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁶‘You Bethlehem, land of Judah, are in no way least among the princes of Judah: for out of you shall come forth a governor, who shall shepherd my people, Israel.’” Micah 5:2

⁷എന്നാറെ ഹെരോദാവു വിദ്വാന്മാരെ രഹസ്യമായി വിളിച്ചു, നക്ഷത്രം വെളിവായ സമയം അവരോടു സൂക്ഷ്മമായി ചോദിച്ചറിഞ്ഞു.

⁷Then Herod secretly called the wise men, and learned from them exactly what time the star appeared.

⁸അവരെ ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമിലേക്കു അയച്ചുനിങ്ങള്‍ ചെന്നു ശിശുവിനെക്കുറിച്ചു സൂക്ഷ്മമായി അന്വേഷിപ്പിന്‍ ; കണ്ടെത്തിയാല്‍ ഞാനും ചെന്നു അവനെ നമസ്ക്കുരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു, വന്നു എന്നെ അറിയിപ്പിന്‍ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁸He sent them to Bethlehem, and said, “Go and search diligently for the young child. When you have found him, bring me word, so that I also may come and worship him.”

⁹രാജാവു പറഞ്ഞതു കേട്ടു അവര്‍ പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അവര്‍ കിഴക്കു കണ്ട നക്ഷത്രം ശിശു ഇരിക്കുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു മീതെ വന്നു നിലക്കുവോളം അവര്‍ക്കുംമുമ്പായി പൊയ്ക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

⁹They, having heard the king, went their way; and behold, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, until it came and stood over where the young child was.

¹⁰നക്ഷത്രം കണ്ടതുകൊണ്ടു അവര്‍ അത്യന്തം സന്തോഷിച്ചു

¹⁰When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.

¹¹ആ വീട്ടില്‍ ചെന്നു, ശിശുവിനെ അമ്മയായ മറിയയോടുകൂടെ കണ്ടു, വീണു അവനെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു; നിക്ഷേപപാത്രങ്ങളെ തുറന്നു അവന്നു പൊന്നും കുന്തുരുക്കവും മൂരും കാഴ്ചവെച്ചു.

¹¹They came into the house and saw the young child with Mary, his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Opening their treasures, they offered to him gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

¹²ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ മടങ്ങിപ്പോകരുതു എന്നു സ്വപ്നത്തില്‍ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായിട്ടു അവര്‍ വേറെ വഴിയായി സ്വദേശത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

¹²Being warned in a dream that they shouldn’t return to Herod, they went back to their own country another way.

¹³അവര്‍ പോയശേഷം കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ ദൂതന്‍ യോസേഫിന്നു സ്വപ്നത്തില്‍ പ്രത്യക്ഷനായിനീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ശിശുവിനെയും അമ്മയെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോയി, ഞാന്‍ നിന്നോടു പറയുംവരെ അവിടെ പാര്‍ക്കുംക. ഹെരോദാവു ശിശുവിനെ നശിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനെ അന്വേഷിപ്പാന്‍ ഭാവിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹³Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and stay there until I tell you, for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.”

¹⁴അവന്‍ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ശിശുവിനെയും അമ്മയെയും രാത്രിയില്‍ തന്നേ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടു മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു പോയി.

¹⁴He arose and took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt,

¹⁵ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ മരണത്തോളം അവന്‍ അവിടെ പാര്‍ത്തു“മിസ്രയീമില്‍ നിന്നു ഞാന്‍ എന്റെ മകനെ വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തി” എന്നു കര്‍ത്താവു പ്രവാചകന്‍ മുഖാന്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു നിവൃത്തിയാകുവാന്‍ സംഗതിവന്നു.

¹⁵and was there until the death of Herod; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, “Out of Egypt I called my son.” Hosea 11:1

¹⁶വിദ്വാന്മാര്‍ തന്നെ കളിയാക്കി എന്നു ഹെരോദാവു കണ്ടു വളരെ കോപിച്ചു, വിദ്വാന്മാരോടു ചോദിച്ചറിഞ്ഞ കാലത്തിന്നു ഒത്തവണ്ണം രണ്ടു വയസ്സും താഴെയുമുള്ള ആണ്‍കുട്ടികളെ ഒക്കെയും ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമിലും അതിന്റെ എല്ലാ അതിരുകളിലും ആളയച്ചു കൊല്ലിച്ചു.

¹⁶Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked by the wise men, was exceedingly angry, and sent out, and killed all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all the surrounding countryside, from two years old and under, according to the exact time which he had learned from the wise men.

¹⁷“റാമയില്‍ ഒരു ശബ്ദം കേട്ടു, കരച്ചിലും വലിയ നിലവിളിയും തന്നേ; റാഹേല്‍ മക്കളെച്ചൊല്ലി കരഞ്ഞു; അവര്‍ ഇല്ലായ്കയാല്‍ ആശ്വാസം കൈക്കൊള്‍വാന്‍ മനസ്സില്ലാതിരുന്നു” എന്നു യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകന്‍ മുഖാന്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു അന്നു നിവൃത്തിയായി.

¹⁷Then that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying,

¹⁸എന്നാല്‍ ഹെരോദാവു കഴിഞ്ഞുപോയശേഷം കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ ദൂതന്‍ മിസ്രയീമില്‍ വെച്ചു യോസേഫിന്നു സ്വപ്നത്തില്‍ പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി

¹⁸“A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children; she wouldn’t be comforted, because they are no more.” Jeremiah 31:15

¹⁹ശിശുവിന്നു പ്രാണഹാനി വരുത്തുവാന്‍ നോക്കിയവര്‍ മരിച്ചുപോയതുകൊണ്ടു നീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ശിശുവിനെയും അമ്മയേയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു യിസ്രായേല്‍ദേശത്തേക്കു പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁹But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying,

²⁰അവന്‍ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ശിശുവിനെയും അമ്മയെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു യിസ്രായേല്‍ദേശത്തു വന്നു.

²⁰“Arise and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel, for those who sought the young child’s life are dead.”

²¹എന്നാല്‍ യെഹൂദ്യയില്‍ അര്‍ക്കെലയൊസ് തന്റെ അപ്പനായ ഹെരോദാവിന്നു പകരം വാഴുന്നു എന്നു കേട്ടതുകൊണ്ടു അവിടെ പോകുവാന്‍ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു, സ്വപ്നത്തില്‍ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായിട്ടു ഗലീലപ്രദേശങ്ങളിലേക്കു മാറിപ്പോയി.

²¹He arose and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.

²²അവന്‍ നസറായന്‍ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും എന്നു പ്രവാചകന്മാര്‍മുഖാന്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു നിവൃത്തിയാവാന്‍ തക്കവണ്ണം നസറെത്ത് എന്ന ഗ്രാമത്തില്‍ ചെന്നു പാര്‍ത്തു.

²²But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in the place of his father, Herod, he was afraid to go there. Being warned in a dream, he withdrew into the region of Galilee,

²³and came and lived in a city called Nazareth; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophets: “He will be called a Nazarene.”
