1ജ്ഞാനമുള്ള മകന്‍ അപ്പനെ സന്തോഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; ഭോഷനായ മകന്‍ അമ്മെക്കു വ്യസനഹേതുവാകുന്നു.
1The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a glad father; but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.
2ദുഷ്ടതയാല്‍ സമ്പാദിച്ച നിക്ഷേപങ്ങള്‍ ഉപകരിക്കുന്നില്ല; നീതിയോ മരണത്തില്‍നിന്നു വിടുവിക്കുന്നു.
2Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death.
3യഹോവ നീതിമാനെ പട്ടിണി കിടത്തുകയില്ല; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ കൊതിയോ അവന്‍ തള്ളിക്കളയുന്നു.
3Yahweh will not allow the soul of the righteous to go hungry, but he thrusts away the desire of the wicked.
4മടിയുള്ള കൈകൊണ്ടു പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നവന്‍ ദരിദ്രനായ്തീരുന്നു; ഉത്സാഹിയുടെ കയ്യോ സമ്പത്തുണ്ടാക്കുന്നു.
4He becomes poor who works with a lazy hand, but the hand of the diligent brings wealth.
5വേനല്‍ക്കാലത്തു ശേഖരിച്ചുവെക്കുന്നവന്‍ ബുദ്ധിമാന്‍ ; കൊയ്ത്തുകാലത്തു ഉറങ്ങുന്നവനോ നാണംകെട്ടവന്‍ .
5He who gathers in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during the harvest is a son who causes shame.
6നീതിമാന്റെ ശിരസ്സിന്മേല്‍ അനുഗ്രഹങ്ങള്‍ വരുന്നു; എന്നാല്‍ ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ വായെ സാഹസംമൂടുന്നു.
6Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
7നീതിമാന്റെ ഔര്‍മ്മ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടതു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ പേരോ കെട്ടുപോകും.
7The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.
8ജ്ഞാനഹൃദയന്‍ കല്പനകളെ കൈക്കൊള്ളുന്നു; വിടുവായനായ ഭോഷനോ വീണുപോകും.
8The wise in heart accept commandments, but a chattering fool will fall.
9നേരായി നടക്കുന്നവന്‍ നിര്‍ഭയമായി നടക്കുന്നു; നടപ്പില്‍ വക്രതയുള്ളവനോ വെളിപ്പെട്ടുവരും.
9He who walks blamelessly walks surely, but he who perverts his ways will be found out.
10കണ്ണുകൊണ്ടു ആംഗ്യം കാട്ടുന്നവന്‍ ദുഃഖം വരുത്തുന്നു; തുറന്നു ശാസിക്കുന്നവനോ സമാധാനം ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു.
10One winking with the eye causes sorrow, but a chattering fool will fall.
11നീതിമാന്റെ വായ് ജീവന്റെ ഉറവാകുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ വായെ സാഹസംമൂടുന്നു.
11The mouth of the righteous is a spring of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
12പക വഴക്കുകള്‍ക്കു കാരണം ആകുന്നു; സ്നേഹമോ, സകലലംഘനങ്ങളെയും മൂടുന്നു.
12Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all wrongs.
13വിവേകിയുടെ അധരങ്ങളില്‍ ജ്ഞാനം ഉണ്ടു; ബുദ്ധിഹീനന്റെ മുതുകിന്നോ വടികൊള്ളാം.
13Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has discernment, but a rod is for the back of him who is void of understanding.
14ജ്ഞാനികള്‍ പരിജ്ഞാനം അടക്കിവെക്കുന്നു; ഭോഷന്റെ വായോ അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന നാശം.
14Wise men lay up knowledge, but the mouth of the foolish is near ruin.
15ധനവാന്റെ സമ്പത്തു, അവന്നു ഉറപ്പുള്ളോരു പട്ടണം; എളിയവരുടെ നാശമോ അവരുടെ ദാരിദ്ര്യം തന്നേ.
15The rich man’s wealth is his strong city. The destruction of the poor is their poverty.
16നീതിമാന്റെ സമ്പാദ്യം ജീവഹേതുവും ദുഷ്ടന്റെ ആദായം പാപകാരണവും ആകുന്നു.
16The labor of the righteous leads to life. The increase of the wicked leads to sin.
17പ്രബോധനം പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നവന്‍ ജീവമാര്‍ഗ്ഗത്തില്‍ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; ശാസന ത്യജിക്കുന്നവനോ ഉഴന്നുനടക്കുന്നു;
17He is in the way of life who heeds correction, but he who forsakes reproof leads others astray.
18പക മറെച്ചുവെക്കുന്നവന്‍ പൊളിവായന്‍ ; ഏഷണി പറയുന്നവന്‍ ഭോഷന്‍ .
18He who hides hatred has lying lips. He who utters a slander is a fool.
19വാക്കു പെരുകിയാല്‍ ലംഘനം ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കയില്ല; അധരങ്ങളെ അടക്കുന്നവനോ ബുദ്ധിമാന്‍ .
19In the multitude of words there is no lack of disobedience, but he who restrains his lips does wisely.
20നീതിമാന്റെ നാവു മേത്തരമായ വെള്ളി; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ഹൃദയമോ നിസ്സാരം.
20The tongue of the righteous is like choice silver. The heart of the wicked is of little worth.
21നീതിമാന്റെ അധരങ്ങള്‍ പലരെയും പോഷിപ്പിക്കും; ഭോഷന്മാരോ ബുദ്ധിഹീനതയാല്‍ മരിക്കുന്നു.
21The lips of the righteous feed many, but the foolish die for lack of understanding.
22യഹോവയുടെ അനുഗ്രഹത്താല്‍ സമ്പത്തുണ്ടാകുന്നു; അദ്ധ്വാനത്താല്‍ അതിനോടു ഒന്നും കൂടുന്നില്ല.
22Yahweh’s blessing brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it.
23ദോഷം ചെയ്യുന്നതു ഭോഷന്നു കളിയാകുന്നു; ജ്ഞാനം വിവേകിക്കു അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ.
23It is a fool’s pleasure to do wickedness, but wisdom is a man of understanding’s pleasure.
24ദുഷ്ടന്‍ പേടിക്കുന്നതു തന്നേ അവന്നു ഭവിക്കും; നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ ആഗ്രഹമോ സാധിക്കും.
24What the wicked fear, will overtake them, but the desire of the righteous will be granted.
25ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റു കടന്നുപോകുമ്പോള്‍ ദുഷ്ടന്‍ ഇല്ലാതെയായി; നീതിമാനോ ശാശ്വതമായ അടിസ്ഥാനം ഉള്ളവന്‍ .
25When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more; but the righteous stand firm forever.
26ചൊറുക്ക പല്ലിന്നും പുക കണ്ണിന്നും ആകുന്നതുപോലെ മടിയന്‍ തന്നേ അയക്കുന്നവര്‍ക്കും ആകുന്നു.
26As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to those who send him.
27യഹോവാഭക്തി ആയുസ്സിനെ ദീര്‍ഘമാക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ സംവത്സരങ്ങളോ കുറഞ്ഞുപോകും.
27The fear of Yahweh prolongs days, but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
28നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ പ്രത്യാശ സന്തോഷമാകുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ പ്രതീക്ഷെക്കോ ഭംഗം വരും.
28The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hope of the wicked will perish.
29യഹോവയുടെ വഴി നേരുള്ളവന്നു ഒരു ദുര്‍ഗ്ഗം; ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാര്‍ക്കോ അതു നാശകരം.
29The way of Yahweh is a stronghold to the upright, but it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.
30നീതിമാന്‍ ഒരുനാളും കുലുങ്ങിപ്പോകയില്ല; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരോ ദേശത്തു വസിക്കയില്ല.
30The righteous will never be removed, but the wicked will not dwell in the land.
31നീതിമാന്റെ വായ് ജ്ഞാനം മുളെപ്പിക്കുന്നു; വക്രതയുള്ള നാവോ ഛേദിക്കപ്പെടും.
31The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, but the perverse tongue will be cut off.
32നീതിമാന്റെ അധരങ്ങള്‍ പ്രസാദകരമായതു അറിയുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ വായോ വക്രതയുള്ളതാകുന്നു.
32The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked is perverse.
