1देवाच्या इच्छेप्रमाणे ख्रिस्त येशूचा प्रषित होण्याकरिता निवडलेला, मी पौल आणि बंधु सोस्थनेस यांजकडून
1Paul, a called apostle of Jesus Christ, through the will of God, and Sosthenes the brother,
2देवाच्या सेवेला समर्पित केलल्या करिंथ येथील मंडळीस तसेच देवाने पवित्र होण्यास बोलाविलेल्या (पाचारलेल्या) व येशू ख्रिस्ताच्या नावावर विश्वास ठेवणऱ्या सर्व बंधूजनांस:
2to the assembly of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called saints, with all those calling upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place — both theirs and ours:
3देव पिता आणि त्यांचा व आपला प्रभु (येशू ख्रिस्त) यांजपासून कृपा व शांति असो.
3Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!
4मी नेहमीच माझ्या देवाचे तुमच्यासाठी उपकार मानतो. कारण ख्रिस्त येशूमध्ये देवाची कृपा तुम्हांला मिळाली आहे,
4I give thanks to my God always concerning you for the grace of God that was given to you in Christ Jesus,

5that in every thing ye were enriched in him, in all discourse and all knowledge,

6according as the testimony of the Christ was confirmed in you,
7तुम्ही कोणत्याही दानात कमी पडत नाही, कारण तुम्ही ख्रिस्ताच्या येण्याची वाट पाहता.
7so that ye are not behind in any gift, waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,
8तो सुद्धा आपल्या प्रभु येशूच्या दिवशी शेवटपर्यंत तुम्हांस निर्दोष असे प्रस्थापित करील.
8who also shall confirm you unto the end — unblamable in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ;
9ज्याने आपला पुत्र येशू ख्रिस्त, आपला प्रभु याच्या सहभागीपणात तुम्हांला बोलावले होते तो देव विश्वासनीय आहे.
9faithful [is] God, through whom ye were called to the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
10परंतु बंधूनो, प्रभु येशू ख्रिस्ताच्या नावांमध्ये मी तुम्हांस विनंति करतो की, तुम्ही सर्वांनी सारखेच बोलावे आणि तुमच्यात मतभेद असू नयेत, तर तुम्ही एकाच विचाराने व एकाच हेतूने परिपूणे व्हावे.
10And I call upon you, brethren, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that the same thing ye may all say, and there may not be divisions among you, and ye may be perfected in the same mind, and in the same judgment,
11कारण क्लोअच्या घरातील माणसांकडून मला असे कळविण्यात आले की, तुमच्यात भांडणे आहेत,
11for it was signified to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe, that contentions are among you;
12माझे म्हणणे असे आहे की तुमच्यातील प्रत्येक जण म्हणतो, “मी पौलाचा आहे.” “मी अपुल्लोचा आहे,” “मी पेत्राचा आहे,” “मी ख्रिस्ताचा आहे.”
12and I say this, that each one of you saith, `I, indeed, am of Paul` — `and I of Apollos,` — `and I of Cephas,` — `and I of Christ.`
13ख्रिस्त विभागला गेला आहे का? पौल वधस्तंभावर तुमच्यासाठी खिळला गेला होता का? पौलाच्या नावाने तुमचा बाप्तिस्मा, झालाय का?
13Hath the Christ been divided? was Paul crucified for you? or to the name of Paul were ye baptized;
14मी देवाचे आभार मानतो की, क्रिस्प व गायस यांच्याशिवाय मी कोणाचाही बाप्तिस्मा केला नाही.
14I give thanks to God that no one of you did I baptize, except Crispus and Gaius —
15यासाठी की कोणीही म्हणू नये की, माझ्या नावात तुमचा बाप्तिस्मा करण्यात आला.
15that no one may say that to my own name I did baptize;
16स्तेफनाच्या घरच्यांचासुद्धा मी बाप्तिस्मा केला, पण उरलेल्यांविषयी म्हणाल, तर इतर कोणाचाही बाप्तिस्मा केल्याचे मला आठवत नाही.
16and I did baptize also Stephanas` household — further, I have not known if I did baptize any other.
17कारण ख्रिस्ताने मला बाप्तिस्मा करण्यासाठी नाही तर सुवार्ता सांगण्यासाठी पाठविले, ती भाषणाच्या ज्ञानाने नव्हे, तर अशासाठी की, ख्रिस्ताच्या वधस्तंभाचे सामर्थ्य निरर्थक होऊ नये.
17For Christ did not send me to baptize, but — to proclaim good news; not in wisdom of discourse, that the cross of the Christ may not be made of none effect;
18कारण ज्यांचा नाश होत आहे अशांसाठी वधस्तंभाविषयीचा संदेश मूर्खपणाचा आहे, परंतु ज्यांचे तारण होत आहे, अशांसाठी तो देवाचे सामर्थ्य आहे.
18for the word of the cross to those indeed perishing is foolishness, and to us — those being saved — it is the power of God,
19कारण पवित्र शास्त्रांत असे लिहिले आहे, “शहाण्यांचे शहाणपण मी नष्ट करीन, आणि बुद्धिवंतांची बुध्दि मी बाजूला करीन.” यशया 29:14
19for it hath been written, `I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the intelligence of the intelligent I will bring to nought;`
20ज्ञानी मनुष्य कोठे आहे? विद्वान कोठे आहे? या जगातील वाद घालणारा कोठे आहे? देवाने जगाचे ज्ञान मूर्खपणाचे ठरविले नाही का?
20where [is] the wise? where the scribe? where a disputer of this age? did not God make foolish the wisdom of this world?
21म्हणून, देवाच्या ज्ञानात असतानाही, जगाला स्वत:च्या ज्ञानाने देवाला ओळखता आले नाही, आम्ही जो “मूर्खपणाचा” संदेश गाजवितो त्यामुळे जे विश्वासणारे आहेत त्यांचे तारण करण्याचे देवाने निवडले.
21for, seeing in the wisdom of God the world through the wisdom knew not God, it did please God through the foolishness of the preaching to save those believing.
22कारण अनेक यहूदी लोक चमत्काराची चिन्हे विचारतात आणि ग्रीक लोक ज्ञानाचा शोध घेतात,
22Since also Jews ask a sign, and Greeks seek wisdom,
23परंतु आम्ही वधस्तंभावर खिळलेला ख्रिस्त गाजवितो. हा संदेश यहूदी लोकांसाठी अडखळण, आणि यहूदीतरांसाठी मूर्खपणा असा आहे.
23also we — we preach Christ crucified, to Jews, indeed, a stumbling-block, and to Greeks foolishness,
24परंतु ज्यांना बोलावलेले आहे, अशा यहूदी व ग्रीक दोघांसही ख्रिस्त हा संदेश आहे तो देवाचे सामर्थ्य व देवाचे ज्ञान असाही आहे.
24and to those called — both Jews and Greeks — Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God,
25तथापि ज्यांस तुम्ही देवाचा ‘मूर्खपणा’ म्हणता ते मानवप्राण्याच्या शहाणपणापेक्षा अधिक शहाणपणाचे आहे. आणि ज्यांस तुम्ही देवाचा ‘दुर्बळपणा’ समजता ते मानवप्राण्याच्या सशक्तपणाहून अधिक शक्तितशाली आहे.
25because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men;
26तर आता बंधुभागिनींनो, देवाने तुम्हांला केलेल्या पाचारणाबद्दल विचार करा. मानवी दृष्टिकोनातून तुमच्यातील पुष्कळसे शहाणे नव्हते. तुमच्यापैकी पुष्कळसे सामर्थ्यशाली नव्हते. तुमच्यापैकी पुष्कळसे उच्च कुळातले नव्हते,
26for see your calling, brethren, that not many [are] wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble;
27त्याऐवजी जगातले जे मूर्ख पण त्यांना त्याने निवडले, यासाठी की, शहाण्या माणसास फजित करावे.
27but the foolish things of the world did God choose, that the wise He may put to shame; and the weak things of the world did God choose that He may put to shame the strong;
28आणि देवाने दीन, तुच्छ मानलेले, जे “नगण्य” त्यांना निवडले. यासाठी की जे “काहीतरी” आहेत त्यांना नगण्य करावे.
28and the base things of the world, and the things despised did God choose, and the things that are not, that the things that are He may make useless —
29यासाठी की कोणीही देवासमोर बढाई मारु नये.
29that no flesh may glory before Him;
30कारण तो ख्रिस्त येशूमध्ये तुमच्या जीवनाचा उगम आहे. व तो देवाची देणगी म्हणून आपले. ज्ञान, आपले नीतिमत्व, आपले पवित्रीकरण आणि आपली खंडणी असा झाला.
30and of Him ye — ye are in Christ Jesus, who became to us from God wisdom, righteousness also, and sanctification, and redemption,
31यासाठी की शास्त्रात असे लिहिले आहे, “जो बढाई मारतो त्याने देवाविषयी बढाई मारावी.”
31that, according as it hath been written, `He who is glorying — in the Lord let him glory.`
