¹एखाद्या व्यक्तीने आम्हाविषयी अशा प्रकारे समजावे: ख्रिस्ताचे सेवक व देवाच्या रहस्याचे कारभारी.

¹Let a man so reckon us as officers of Christ, and stewards of the secrets of God,

²आणखी असे की, जबाबदारी असलेल्या कारभाऱ्याने विश्वासू असले पाहिजे.

²and as to the rest, it is required in the stewards that one may be found faithful,

³पण तुम्हांकडून किंवा कोणा मानवी न्यायाधीशाकडून माझा न्याय व्हावा याबद्दल मला काही वाटत नाही, किंवा मी माझा स्वत:चादेखील न्याय करीत नाही.

³and to me it is for a very little thing that by you I may be judged, or by man`s day, but not even myself do I judge,

⁴कारण माझी विवेकबुद्धी शुद्ध आहे, पण त्यामुळे मी निर्दोष ठरत नाही. प्रभु हाच माझा न्यायनिवाडा करतो.

⁴for of nothing to myself have I been conscious, but not in this have I been declared right — and he who is discerning me is the Lord:

⁵म्हणून योग्य समय येईपर्यंत म्हणजे प्रभु येईपर्यंत न्यायनिवाडा करु नका. तो अंधारामध्ये दडलेल्या गोष्टींवर प्रकाश टाकील व अंत: करणातील हेतू उघडकीस आणील, त्यावेळी देवाकडून प्रत्येकाची प्रशंसा होईल.

⁵so, then, nothing before the time judge ye, till the Lord may come, who will both bring to light the hidden things of the darkness, and will manifest the counsels of the hearts, and then the praise shall come to each from God.

⁶बंधूनो, तुमच्यासाठी मी या गोष्टी माझ्याकरीता व अपुल्लोसाभरीता लागू केल्या आहेत. यासाठी की ‘पवित्र शास्त्र सांगते त्यापलीकडे जाऊ नका,ʆ हे आमच्या उदाहरणावरुन तुम्ही शिकावे व तुम्ही गर्वाने फुगून जाऊ नये म्हणजे एखाद्याला चांगली वागणूक देऊन दुसऱ्याला विरोध करु नये.

⁶And these things, brethren, I did transfer to myself and to Apollos because of you, that in us ye may learn not to think above that which hath been written, that ye may not be puffed up one for one against the other,

⁷कोण म्हणतो की तू दुसऱ्यापेक्षा चांगला आहेस? आणि तुझ्याजवळ असे काय आहे जे तुला मिळाले नाही? ज्याअर्थी तुला सर्व मिळाले आहे, तर तुला मिळाले नाही अशी बढाई का मारतोस?

⁷for who doth make thee to differ? and what hast thou, that thou didst not receive? and if thou didst also receive, why dost thou glory as not having received?

⁸तुम्हांला असे वाटते की, तुम्ही अगोदरच श्रीमंत झाला आहात, तृप्त झाला आहात, तुम्हांला असे वाटते की आमच्याशिवाय तुम्ही राजे झाला आहात आणि माझी अशी इच्छा आहे की तुम्ही खरोखरच राजे होता, यासाठी की आम्ही तुमच्यासह राजे झालो असतो.

⁸Already ye are having been filled, already ye were rich, apart from us ye did reign, and I would also ye did reign, that we also with you may reign together,

⁹कारण मला वाटते की देवाने आम्हांला मरण्यासाठी शिक्षा दिलेल्या अशा लोकांसारखे शेवटचे प्रेषित केले कारण आम्ही जगाला, देवदूतांना तसेच माणसांना जाहीर प्रदर्शनसारखे झालो आहोत.

⁹for I think that God did set forth us the apostles last — as appointed to death, because a spectacle we became to the world, and messengers, and men;

¹⁰आम्ही ख्रिस्तासाठी मूर्ख, तर तुम्ही ख्रिस्तामध्ये किती हुशार आहात! आम्ही अशक्त आहोत, पण तुम्ही किती बलवान आहात! तुम्ही आदरणीय आहात, पण आम्ही तुच्छ आहोत!

¹⁰we [are] fools because of Christ, and ye wise in Christ; we [are] ailing, and ye strong; ye glorious, and we dishonoured;

¹¹अगदी या क्षणापर्यंत आम्ही भुकेले आणि तहानलेले, फाटकेतुटेके कपडे घातलेले, ठोसे मारलेले, आम्ही बेघर असे आहोत.

¹¹unto the present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and wander about,

¹²आणि आम्ही श्रम करतो, आम्ही स्वत:च्या हातांनी काम करतो,

¹²and labour, working with [our] own hands; being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer;

¹³जेव्हा आमची निंदा होते, तेव्हा आम्ही आशीर्वाद दतो. जेव्हा आमचा छळ होतो तेव्हा आम्ही सहन करतो. जेव्हा आमची निंदा होते, आम्ही दयाळूपणे त्यांच्याशी बोलतो, या क्षणापर्यंत आम्ही जगासाठी गाळ आणि कचरा असे झालो आहोत.

¹³being spoken evil of, we entreat; as filth of the world we did become — of all things an offscouring — till now.

¹⁴मी तुम्हांला हे लाजविण्यासाठी लिहित नाही: तर उलट मी तुम्हांला माझ्या प्रिय लेकरांप्रमाणे चांगल्या गोष्टींची जाणीव करुन देतो,

¹⁴Not [as] putting you to shame do I write these things, but as my beloved children I do admonish,

¹⁵कारण जरी तुम्हांला खिस्तामध्ये दहा हजार पालक असले तरी पुष्कळ वडील नाहीत. कारण ख्रिस्त येशूमध्ये सुवार्तेच्या योगे मी तुम्हांला जन्म दिला आहे,

¹⁵for if a myriad of child-conductors ye may have in Christ, yet not many fathers; for in Christ Jesus, through the good news, I — I did beget you;

¹⁶यास्तव मी तुम्हांला बोध करतो की, माझे अनुकरण करा.

¹⁶I call upon you, therefore, become ye followers of me;

¹⁷यासाठीच तिमथ्याला तुमच्याकडे पाठविले आहे. प्रभूमध्ये तो माझा प्रिय व विश्वासू पुत्र आहे. ज्याप्रमाणे मी त्यांना सगळीकडे प्रत्येक मंडळीमध्ये शिकवितो, तसेच तो ख्रिस्तामधील माझ्या शिकवणूकीची आठवण करुन देईल.

¹⁷because of this I sent to you Timotheus, who is my child, beloved and faithful in the Lord, who shall remind you of my ways in Christ, according as everywhere in every assembly I teach.

¹⁸पण जणू काय मी तुमच्याकडे येणारच नव्हतो, म्हणून काही जण गर्वाने फुगले होते.

¹⁸And as if I were not coming unto you certain were puffed up;

¹⁹तरीही जर प्रभूची इच्छा असेल तर मी लवकरच तुमच्याकडे येईन. आणि मग मला समजेल की, जे गर्वाने फुगून गेले ते किती चांगले वक्ते आहेत हे नव्हे, तर ते किती सामर्थ्यशाली आहेत, हे मला समजेल.

¹⁹but I will come quickly unto you, if the Lord may will, and I will know not the word of those puffed up, but the power;

²⁰कारण देवाचे राज्य बोलण्यावर अवलंबून नसते तर सामर्थ्यावर असते.

²⁰for not in word is the reign of God, but in power?

²¹तुम्हांला कोणते पाहिजे? मी तुमच्याकडे तुम्हांला शिक्षा करण्यासाठी काठी घेऊन यावे की, प्रीतीने व सौम्यतेच्या आत्म्याने यावे?

²¹what do ye wish? with a rod shall I come unto you, or in love, with a spirit also of meekness?
