¹देवाचे निवडलेले लोक जे या जगात प्रवासी आहेत, जे पंत, गलतिया, कप्पदुकिया आशिया व बिथुनिया प्रांतात विखुरलेले आहेत त्या यहूदी लोकांना,

¹Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the choice sojourners of the dispersion of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

²देवपित्याने फार पूर्वीच केलेल्या योजनेप्रमाणे आत्म्याच्याद्वारे तुम्ही पवित्र व्हावे, येशू ख्रिस्ताच्या आज्ञेत राहावे आणि येशूचे रक्त तुमच्यावर शिंपडून तुम्हांला शुद्ध करावे, याकरीता तुम्हाला निवडले आहे. त्या तुम्हाला देवाची कृपा व शांति भरपूर प्रमाणात लाभो.

²according to a foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, to obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied!

³आमच्या प्रभु येशू ख्रिस्ताच्या पित्याची, देवाची स्तुति असो! त्याच्या महान दयेमुळे त्याने आमचा नवा जन्म होऊ दिला, आणि येशूला मेलेल्यातून उठविण्याने जिवंत व नवीन आशा दिली.

³Blessed [is] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to the abundance of His kindness did beget us again to a living hope, through the rising again of Jesus Christ out of the dead,

⁴आणि ज्याचा कधी नाश होत नाही, ज्याच्यावर काही दोष नाही, व जे कधी झिजत नाही असे वतन स्वर्गात आपल्यासाठी राखून ठेवले आहे.

⁴to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and unfading, reserved in the heavens for you,

⁵आणि शेवटच्या काळात प्रगट करण्यात येणारे तारण तुम्हाला मिळावे म्हणून विश्वासाच्या द्वारे, देवाच्या सामर्थ्याने तुमचे रक्षण केले आहे.

⁵who, in the power of God are being guarded, through faith, unto salvation, ready to be revealed in the last time,

⁶वेगवेगळ्या प्रकारच्या पिडांनी काही काळापर्यंत तुम्ही दु:खी होणे जरी जरुरीचे असले, तरी यामुळे आनंद करीत आहा.

⁶in which ye are glad, a little now, if it be necessary, being made to sorrow in manifold trials,

⁷नाशवंत सोने शुध्द करण्याकरिता अग्नित टाकले जाते. त्याहून अधिक मौल्यवान अशा तुमच्या विश्वासाची कसोटी व्हावी, आणि येशू ख्रिस्ताच्या परत येण्याच्या वेळी तो खरा ठरावा आणि तुम्हाला स्तुति, गौरव व सन्मान मिळावा याची आवश्यकता आहे.

⁷that the proof of your faith — much more precious than of gold that is perishing, and through fire being approved — may be found to praise, and honour, and glory, in the revelation of Jesus Christ,

⁸जरी तुम्ही येशूला पाहिले नाही, तरी तुम्ही त्याच्यावर प्रीति करता. जरी आता तुम्ही त्याच्याकडे पाहू शकत नसला तरी तुम्ही त्याच्यावर विश्वास ठेवता आणि तुम्ही व्यक्त करता येणार नाही, अशा गौरवी आनंदाने भरला आहात.

⁸whom, not having seen, ye love, in whom, now not seeing and believing, ye are glad with joy unspeakable and glorified,

⁹तुमच्या विश्वासाचे ध्येय जे तुमच्या आत्म्याचे तारण ते तुम्हाला प्राप्त होत आहे.

⁹receiving the end of your faith — salvation of souls;

¹⁰तुमच्याकडे येणार असलेल्या कृपेसंबंधी ज्या संदेष्ट्यांनी भविष्य वर्तविले होते त्यांनी त्या तारणाबाबत फार मन:पूर्वक शोध घेतला व काळजीपूर्वक चौकशी केली.

¹⁰concerning which salvation seek out and search out did prophets who concerning the grace toward you did prophecy,

¹¹ख्रिस्ताचा आत्मा त्यांच्यामध्ये राहात होता. ते शोध घेत होते की कोणत्या वेळी व कोणत्या परिस्थितीत ख्रिस्ताच्या दु:खाचा व गौरवाचा शोध घेण्यास आत्मा सुचवीत आहे.

¹¹searching in regard to what or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ that was in them was manifesting, testifying beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glory after these,

¹²स्वर्गातून पाठविलेल्या आत्म्याद्वारे ज्यांनी शुभवर्तमान तुमच्याकडे आणले, त्यांनीच तुम्हांस आता या गोष्टी विदित केल्या. त्याच गोष्टी कळविण्याची जी सेवा ते करीत होते, ती स्वत:साठी नाही, तर आमच्यासाठी करीत होते, त्या गोष्टी बारकाईने पाहण्यासाठी देवदूतसुद्धा उत्सुक आहेत.

¹²to whom it was revealed, that not to themselves, but to us they were ministering these, which now were told to you (through those who did proclaim good news to you,) in the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, to which things messengers do desire to bend looking.

¹³म्हणून मानसिकदृष्ट्या सावध असा आणि पूर्णपणे आत्मसंयमन करा. जेव्हा येशू ख्रिस्त प्रकट होईल तेव्हा तुम्हाला जे आशीर्वाद देण्यात येतील त्यावर तुमची आशा केंद्रित करा.

¹³Wherefore having girded up the loins of your mind, being sober, hope perfectly upon the grace that is being brought to you in the revelation of Jesus Christ,

¹⁴आज्ञाधारक मुलांप्रमणे वागा व तुम्ही अज्ञानी असताना, तुम्हांला पूर्वी ज्या दुष्ट इच्छा होत्या त्याप्रमाणे तुमच्या जीवनाला आकार देण्याचे थांबवा.

¹⁴as obedient children, not fashioning yourselves to the former desires in your ignorance,

¹⁵त्याऐवजी ज्या देवाने तुम्हाला पाचारण केले तो पवित्र आहे, तुम्हीसुद्धा प्रत्येक गोष्ट जी तुम्ही कराल त्यात पवित्र असा.

¹⁵but according as He who did call you [is] holy, ye also, become holy in all behaviour,

¹⁶कारण असे लिहिले आहे: “पवित्र व्हा, कारण मी पवित्र आहे.”

¹⁶because it hath been written, `Become ye holy, because I am holy;`

¹⁷आणि ज्याप्रमाणे, देवाला तुम्ही पिता म्हणून हाक मारता, जो लोकांचा नि:पक्षपातीपणे, प्रत्येकाच्या कृत्यांप्रमाणे न्याय करतो, म्हणून या परक्या भूमीवर तुम्ही वास्तव्य करीत असताना, या काळात देवाबद्दलच्या आदरयुक्त भितीमध्ये आपले जीवन जगा.

¹⁷and if on the Father ye do call, who without acceptance of persons is judging according to the work of each, in fear the time of your sojourn pass ye,

¹⁸तुम्हांला माहीत आहे की, सोने किंवा चांदी अशा कोणत्याही नाश पावणाऱ्या वस्तूंनी निरर्थक जीवनापासून तुमची सुटका करण्यात आली नाही. जी तुम्हांला तुमच्या पूर्वजापासून मिळाली आहे.

¹⁸having known that, not with corruptible things — silver or gold — were ye redeemed from your foolish behaviour delivered by fathers,

¹⁹तर कसलाही डाग किंवा दोष नसलेल्या कोकऱ्यासारख्या ख्रिस्ताच्या बहुमोल रक्ताने तुमची सुटका केली आहे.

¹⁹but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and unspotted — Christ`s —

²⁰जगाच्या निर्मितिच्या अगोदर ख्रिस्ताची निवड करण्यात आली होती. पण तुमच्याकरिता या शेवटच्या दिवसात त्याला प्रकट करण्यात आले.

²⁰foreknown, indeed, before the foundation of the world, and manifested in the last times because of you,

²¹ज्या देवाने त्याला मेलेल्यांतून उठविले व त्याला गौरव दिले त्या देवावर तुम्ही विश्वास ठेवणारे झाला आहात. म्हणून तुमचा विश्वास आणि आशा देवामध्ये आहे.

²¹who through him do believe in God, who did raise out of the dead, and glory to him did give, so that your faith and hope may be in God.

²²आता तुम्ही स्वत:ला शुद्ध केले आहे. सत्याची आज्ञा पाळून शेवटपर्यंत प्रामाणिक बंधुप्रीति करा. एकमेकांवर शुद्ध ह्रदयाने प्रीति करण्याकडे लक्षा द्या.

²²Your souls having purified in the obedience of the truth through the Spirit to brotherly love unfeigned, out of a pure heart one another love ye earnestly,

²³जे बीज नाशवंत आहे त्यापासून तुमचा नवा जन्म झाला नाही तर जे बीज अविनाशी त्यामुळे झाला आहे, तुमचा नवा जन्म देवाच्या वचनाद्वारे जे जिवंत आहे व टिकते त्यापासून झाला आहे.

²³being begotten again, not out of seed corruptible, but incorruptible, through a word of God — living and remaining — to the age;

²⁴म्हणून पवित्र शास्त्र सांगते, “सर्व लोक गवतासारखे आहेत आणि त्यांचे सर्व वैभव गवतातील रानफुलासारखे आहे. गवत सुकते, फूल गळून पडते,

²⁴because all flesh [is] as grass, and all glory of man as flower of grass; wither did the grass, and the flower of it fell away,

²⁵परंतु आमच्या प्रभूचे वचन अनंतकाळ टिकते.” यशया 40:6-8 आणि हाच तारणाचा संदेश आहे, जो तुम्हाला सांगितला गेला.

²⁵and the saying of the Lord doth remain — to the age; and this is the saying that was proclaimed good news to you.
