1बंधूंनो, वेळ आणि तारीखवार मी तुम्हांला लिहिण्याची गरज नाही.
1And concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need of my writing to you,
2कारण तुम्ही स्वत:चे हे चांगल्या प्रकारे जाणता की, प्रभूच्या परत येण्याचा दिवस येईल. तो जणू काय रात्रीचा चोर जसा येतो तसा येईल.
2for yourselves have known thoroughly that the day of the Lord as a thief in the night doth so come,
3जेव्हा लोक म्हणतात, “सगळीकडे शांतता व सुरक्षितता आहे.” तेव्हा त्यांच्यावर अचानक विनाश ओढवेल, ज्याप्रमाणे गर्भवती स्त्रिला अचानक वेदना होतात व मग ते सूटू शकणार नाहीत!
3for when they may say, Peace and surety, then sudden destruction doth stand by them, as the travail [doth] her who is with child, and they shall not escape;
4परंतु बंधूनो, त्या दिवसाने चोराप्रमाणे अचानक येऊन आपल्याला गाठून आश्चर्यात टाकावे अशा प्रकारे आपण अंधारात नाही.
4and ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day may catch you as a thief;
5कारण तुम्ही सर्वजण प्रकाशाचे पुत्र आहात व दिवसाचे पुत्र आहा, आम्ही अंधाराचे किंवा रात्रीचे नाही.
5all ye are sons of light, and sons of day; we are not of night, nor of darkness,
6म्हणून आपण इतरांसारखे झोपू नये. उलट आपण सावध राहू व आमच्या स्वत:वर ताबा ठेवण्याचा प्रयत्न करु.
6so, then, we may not sleep as also the others, but watch and be sober,
7कारण जे झोपातात ते रात्री झोपतात व जे दारु पितात ते रात्री दारु पितात,
7for those sleeping, by night do sleep, and those making themselves drunk, by night are drunken,
8परंतु आपण दिवसाचे असल्याने स्व:वर ताबा ठेवण्याचा प्रयत्न करु या. आपण विश्वास आणि प्रीतिचे छातीला उरस्त्राण घालू या. आणि आमचे शिरस्त्राण म्हणून तारणाची आशा ठेवू या.
8and we, being of the day — let us be sober, putting on a breastplate of faith and love, and an helmet — a hope of salvation,
9[This verse may not be a part of this translation]
9because God did not appoint us to anger, but to the acquiring of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
10तो आमच्यासाठी मरण पावला यासाठी की, आम्ही मेलेले असू किंवा जिवंत असू, जेव्हा येशू येईल तेव्हा आम्हाला त्याबरोबर एकत्र राहता यावे.
10who did die for us, that whether we wake — whether we sleep — together with him we may live;
11म्हणून एकमेकांना उत्तेजन द्या. आणि जसे आता तुम्ही करीत आहात तसे आध्यात्मिक रीतीने एकमेकांना पूर्ण मनाने बळकट करा.
11wherefore, comfort ye one another, and build ye up, one the one, as also ye do.
12परंतु बंधूंनो, आम्ही तुम्हांला विनंति करतो, की जे तुम्हामध्ये श्रम व प्रभुमध्ये मार्गदर्शन करतात आणि शिक्षण देतात, त्यांना तुम्ही मान द्या.
12And we ask you, brethren, to know those labouring among you, and leading you in the Lord, and admonishing you,
13आम्ही तुम्हाला अशी विनंति करतो की, त्यांनी तुमच्याबरोबर केलेल्या कामामुळे त्यांना प्रेमाने मोठा मान द्या. एकमेकांबरोबर शांतीने राहा.
13and to esteem them very abundantly in love, because of their work; be at peace among yourselves;
14बंधूंनो, आम्ही तुम्हाला आग्रह करतो की, “आळशी लोकांना ताकीद द्या.” भित्र्यांना उत्तेजन द्या आणि अशक्तांना मदत करा. व सर्व लोकांबरोबर सहनशीलतेने राहा.
14and we exhort you, brethren, admonish the disorderly, comfort the feeble-minded, support the infirm, be patient unto all;
15कोणीही वाईटाची फेड वाईटाने करु नये म्हणून लक्षात ठेवा. परंतु नेहमी एकमेकांचे आणि सर्व लोकांचे चांगले करण्याचा प्रयत्न करा.
15see no one evil for evil may render to any one, but always that which is good pursue ye, both to one another and to all;
16सर्वदा आनंद करा.
16always rejoice ye;
17नेहमी प्रार्यना करीत राहा.
17continually pray ye;
18प्रत्येक परिस्थितीत देवाचे उपकार माना.
18in every thing give thanks, for this [is] the will of God in Christ Jesus in regard to you.
19आत्म्याला विझविण्याचा प्रयत्न करु नका.
19The Spirit quench not;
20संदेष्ट्यांच्या संदेशाचा उपहास करु नका.
20prophesyings despise not;
21पण हे देवाकडून आले आहेत याची परीक्षा करुन खात्री करुन घेण्याची सवय करा. जे चांगले ते धरुन ठेवा.
21all things prove; that which is good hold fast;
22दुष्टाईच्या प्रत्येक प्रकारापासून दूर राहा.
22from all appearance of evil abstain ye;
23देव स्वत: जो शांतीचा उगम आहे. तो तुम्हांला त्याच्यासाठी पूर्णपणे समर्पित करो आणि तुमचे सर्व मनुष्याण म्हणजे तुमचा आत्मा, जीव आणि शरीर प्रभु येशू ख्रिस्ताच्या आगमनाच्या वेळी पूर्णपणे निर्दोष राखो.
23and the God of the peace Himself sanctify you wholly, and may your whole spirit, and soul, and body, be preserved unblameably in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ;
24देव जो तुम्हाला बोलावितो तो विश्वासू आहे आणि खरोखरच तो तसे करील.
24stedfast is He who is calling you, who also will do [it].
25बंधूंनो, कृपा करुन आमच्यासाठीसुद्धा प्रार्थना करा.
25Brethren, pray for us;
26पवित्र चुंबनाने सर्व बंधूंना सलाम करा.
26salute all the brethren in an holy kiss;
27मी तुम्हांला प्रभुची शपथ घ्यावयाला सांगतो की, हे पत्र सर्व बंधूना वाचून दाखविण्यात यावे.
27I charge you [by] the Lord, that the letter be read to all the holy brethren;
28आपल्या प्रभु येशू ख्रिस्ताची कृपा तुम्हा सर्वांबरोबर असो.
28the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [is] with you! Amen.
