¹येशू ख्रिस्तामध्ये असलेल्या जीवनाविषयीच्या अभिवचनाची घोषणा करण्यास, देवाच्या इच्छेने पाठविलेला ख्रिस्त प्रेषित पौल याजकडून,

¹Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, through the will of God, according to a promise of life that [is] in Christ Jesus,

²प्रिय मुलगा तीमथ्य याला, देवपिता आणि आमचा प्रभु येशू ख्रिस्त याच्यापासून कृपा दया व शांति असो.

²to Timotheus, beloved child: Grace, kindness, peace, from God the Father, and Christ Jesus our Lord!

³माझ्या पूर्वजांप्रमाणे ज्या देवाची मी शुद्ध विवेकभावाने भक्ती करतो, त्या देवाचे मी उपकार मानतो; आणि रात्रंदिवस माझ्या प्रार्थनेत तुझी नेहमी आठवण करतो.

³I am thankful to God, whom I serve from progenitors in a pure conscience, that unceasingly I have remembrance concerning thee in my supplications night and day,

⁴माझ्यासाठी तू ढाळलेल्या अश्रूंची आठवण करताना तुला भेटण्याची आतुरतेने वाट पाहतो. यासाठी की मी आनंदाने भरूने जावे.

⁴desiring greatly to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that with joy I may be filled,

⁵तुझ्यातील प्रामाणिक विश्वासाचे मला स्मरण होते जो पहिल्यांदा तुझी आजी लोईसमध्ये होता आणि तुझी आई युनीकेमध्ये होता. आणि माझी खात्री आहे की तोच विश्वास तुझ्यामध्येही आहे.

⁵taking remembrance of the unfeigned faith that is in thee, that dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice, and I am persuaded that also in thee.

⁶या कारणासाठी मी तुला आठवण करून देतो की, जेव्हा मी माझे हात तुझ्यावर ठेवले तेव्हा देवाच्या दानाची जी ज्योत तुला मीळाली ती तेवत ठेव.

⁶For which cause I remind thee to stir up the gift of God that is in thee through the putting on of my hands,

⁷कारण देवाने आम्हांला भित्रेपणाचा आत्मा दिला नाही. तर तो सावधानतेचा व सामर्थ्याची स्फूर्ति देणारा आतमा दिला आहे.

⁷for God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind;

⁸म्हणून आपल्या प्रभूविषयी साक्ष देण्यासाठी लाज धरु नको किंवा मी जो त्याच्यासाठी कैदी झालो त्या माझी लाज धरू नको. तर माझ्याबरोबर सुवर्तेसाठी दु:ख सोस. देव तुला जे सामर्थ्य देतो त्याच्या साहाय्याने दु:ख सोस.

⁸therefore thou mayest not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but do thou suffer evil along with the good news according to the power of God,

⁹त्याने आम्हांला तारले आणि त्याने आम्हांला समर्पित जीवनासाठी पाचारण केले. आम्ही काही सत्कृत्ये केली म्हणून नाही तर त्याच्या स्वत:च्या हेतूने व कृपेने केले. ही कृपा काळाच्या सुरुवातीलाच देवाने ख्रिस्त येशूमध्ये आम्हांस दिली होती.

⁹who did save us, and did call with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, that was given to us in Christ Jesus, before the times of the ages,

¹⁰पण जी आता आम्हाला आमचा तारणारा ख्रिस्त येशू याच्या भूतलावर अवतीर्ण होण्याने प्रगट करण्यात आली आहे. ख्रिस्ताने मरणाचा नाश केला आणि सुवार्तेद्वारे अमरत्व व जीवन प्रकाशात आणले.

¹⁰and was made manifest now through the manifestation of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who indeed did abolish death, and did enlighten life and immortality through the good news,

¹¹मला त्या सुवार्तेचा उपदेशक, प्रेषित आणि शिक्षक असे नेमले होते.

¹¹to which I was placed a preacher and an apostle, and a teacher of nations,

¹²आणि या कारणांमुळे मीसुद्धा दु:ख भोगीत आहे. परंतु मी लाजत नाही कारण ज्याच्यावर मी विश्वास ठेवला आहे त्याला मी जाणतो आणि माझी खात्री पटली आहे की, तो दिवस येईपर्यंत त्याने जे माझ्याकडे सोपविले आहे त्याचे तो रक्षण करील.

¹²for which cause also these things I suffer, but I am not ashamed, for I have known in whom I have believed, and have been persuaded that he is able that which I have committed to him to guard -- to that day.

¹³The pattern hold thou of sound words, which from me thou didst hear, in faith and love that [is] in Christ Jesus;

¹⁴आपणामध्ये वस्ती करणाऱ्या पवित्र आत्म्याद्वारे त्या चांगल्या ठेवीचे रक्षण कर.

¹⁴the good thing committed guard thou through the Holy Spirit that is dwelling in us;

¹⁵आशिया प्रांतामध्ये असणाऱ्या सर्वांनी मला सोडले आहे हे तुला ठाऊकच आहे. त्यामध्ये फुगल व हर्मगनेस आहेत.

¹⁵thou hast known this, that they did turn from me -- all those in Asia, of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes;

¹⁶अनेसिफराच्या घरावर प्रभु दया दाखवो. कारण त्याने अनेकदा माझे समाधान केले आहे. आणि माझ्या तुरूंगात असण्याची त्याला लाज वाटली नाही.

¹⁶may the Lord give kindness to the house of Onesiphorus, because many times he did refresh me, and of my chain was not ashamed,

¹⁷उलट रोममध्ये असताना त्याने माझा तपास लागेपर्यंत कसोशीने माझा शोध केला.

¹⁷but being in Rome, very diligently he sought me, and found;

¹⁸प्रभु करो आणि त्याला त्या दिवशी प्रभुकडून दया मिळो कारण माझ्या इफिसातील वास्तव्य काळात त्याने अनेक प्रकारे माझी सेवा केली हे तुला चांगले माहीत आहे.

¹⁸may the Lord give to him to find kindness from the Lord in that day; and how many things in Ephesus he did minister thou dost very well know.
