¹मी जे म्हणत आहे ते हे की, जोपर्यंत वारसदार हा लहान मूल आहे तोपर्यंत तो गुलामापेक्षा वेगळा नाही. जरी तो सर्वांचा मालक असला तरी,

¹And I say, so long time as the heir is a babe, he differeth nothing from a servant — being lord of all,

²तो जोपर्यंत त्याच्या पित्याने नेमून दिलेला वेळ आहे तोपर्यंत पालकांच्या आणि विश्वास्तांच्या ताब्यात असतो.

²but is under tutors and stewards till the time appointed of the father,

³याच प्रकारे जोपर्यंत आम्ही “मुले” होतो तोपर्यंत आम्हीसुद्धा या जगाच्या निरर्थक नियमांचे गुलाम होतो.

³so also we, when we were babes, under the elements of the world were in servitude,

⁴परंतु जेव्हा काळाची पूर्णता झाली, तेव्हा देवाने आपला पुत्र पाठविला, जो स्त्रीपासून जन्मला, व नियम शास्त्राप्रमाणे वागला.

⁴and when the fulness of time did come, God sent forth His Son, come of a woman, come under law,

⁵यासाठी की, त्याने जे नियमशास्त्राधीन होते त्यांना सोडवावे व देवाची मुले म्हणून स्वीकारावे.

⁵that those under law he may redeem, that the adoption of sons we may receive;

⁶आणि तुम्ही त्याचे पुत्र आहात, म्हणून देवाने आपल्या पुत्राच्या आत्म्याला तुमच्या अंत:करणात पाठविले आहे. आत्मा “अब्बा” म्हणजे “पित्या” अशी हाक मारतो.

⁶and because ye are sons, God did send forth the spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, `Abba, Father!`

⁷म्हणून तू आता गुलाम नाही, तर एक पुत्र आहेस, आणि जर पुत्र आहेस तर देवाने तुला त्याचा वारसदारही बनविले आहे.

⁷so that thou art no more a servant, but a son, and if a son, also an heir of God through Christ.

⁸गतकाळात जेव्हा तुम्ही देवाला ओळखीत नव्हता, तेव्हा खऱ्या अर्थाने जे देव नव्हते, त्यांचे तुम्ही गुलाम होता.

⁸But then, indeed, not having known God, ye were in servitude to those not by nature gods,

⁹परंतु आता तुम्ही देवाला ओळखता किंवा आता देवाने तुमची ओळख करुन घेतली आहे. तर मग आता तुम्ही ज्यांचे गुलाम होण्याचे प्रयत्न करीत आहात त्या दुर्बल आणि निरुपयोगी नियमाकडे कसे वळता?

⁹and now, having known God — and rather being known by God — how turn ye again unto the weak and poor elements to which anew ye desire to be in servitude?

¹⁰तुम्ही विशेष दिवस, महिने, ऋतू आणि वर्षे पाळता.

¹⁰days ye observe, and months, and times, and years!

¹¹मला तुमच्याविषयी भीती वाटते मला वाईट वाटते की, मी तुमच्यासाठी केलेले श्रम व्यर्थ आहेत.

¹¹I am afraid of you, lest in vain I did labour toward you.

¹²बंधूनो, मी तुम्हांला कळकळीची विनंति करतो की कृपा करुन माझ्यासारखे व्हा. कारण मी तुमच्यासारखा झालो, असे काही नाही की, तुम्ही माझे काही वाईट केले होते.

¹²Become as I [am] — because I also [am] as ye brethren, I beseech you; to me ye did no hurt,

¹³तुम्हांला माहीत आहे की, माझ्या शारीरिक दुर्बलतेमुळे प्रथमत: मी तुम्हांला सुवार्ता सांगितली.

¹³and ye have known that through infirmity of the flesh I did proclaim good news to you at the first,

¹⁴आणि माझ्या शारीरिक दुर्बलतेबाबत तुमची कठीण परीक्षा होत असतानाही उलट माझे एखाद्या देवदूतासारखे तुम्ही स्वागत केले, जणू काय मीच स्वत: ख्रिस्त असल्यासारखे स्वागत केले.

¹⁴and my trial that [is] in my flesh ye did not despise nor reject, but as a messenger of God ye did receive me — as Christ Jesus;

¹⁵मग जो आनंद तुम्हांला मिळाला तो कोठे आहे? कारण मी तुम्हांविषयी साक्ष देतो की, जर तुम्ही समर्थ असता तर तुम्ही तुमचे स्वत:चे डोळे काढून ते मला दिले असते.

¹⁵what then was your happiness? for I testify to you, that if possible, your eyes having plucked out, ye would have given to me;

¹⁶तुम्हांला खरे सांगितले म्हणून मी तुमचा वैरी झालो काय?

¹⁶so that your enemy have I become, being true to you?

¹⁷तुम्ही नियमशास्त्र पाळावे असे ज्यांना वाटते त्यांना तुमच्याविषयी उत्साहवर्धक आस्था आहे, पण चांगल्या हेतूसाठी नाही. मझ्यापासून तुम्हांला वेगळे करण्याचा ते प्रयत्न करीत आहेत. यासाठी की तुम्हांला त्याच्याविषयी उत्साहवर्धक आस्था वाटेल.

¹⁷they are zealous for you — [yet] not well, but they wish to shut us out, that for them ye may be zealous;

¹⁸हे नेहमीच चांगले असते की, कोणासाठी तरी विशेष (उत्साहवर्धक) आस्था असावी पण ती कोणत्या तरी चांगल्या गोष्टीसाठी आणि मी जेव्हा तुमच्याबरोबर असतो, फक्त तेव्हाच नव्हे.

¹⁸and [it is] good to be zealously regarded, in what is good, at all times, and not only in my being present with you;

¹⁹माझ्या प्रिय मुलांनो, तुमच्यामुळे मी पुन्हा एकदा प्रसूतिवेदनातून जात आहे आणि तुम्ही ख्रिस्तासारखे होईपर्यंत मला तसे करावेच लागेल.

¹⁹my little children, of whom again I travail in birth, till Christ may be formed in you,

²⁰आता मला तुमच्याबरोबर तेथे हजर राहावेसे व स्वर बदलून वेघळ्या प्रकारे बोलावेसे वाटते, कारण तुमच्याविषयी मी गोंधळात पडलो आहे.

²⁰and I was wishing to be present with you now, and to change my voice, because I am in doubt about you.

²¹जे तुम्ही नियमशास्त्राधीन राहू इच्छिता त्या तुम्हांला मला विचारु द्या की, नियमशास्त्र काय म्हणते, ते तुम्हांला माहीत आहे का?

²¹Tell me, ye who are willing to be under law, the law do ye not hear?

²²असे लिहिले आहे की, अब्राहामाला दोन पुत्र होते. एक त्याला गुलाम मुलीपासून झाला व दुसरा स्वतंत्र स्त्रीपासून जन्मलेला

²²for it hath been written, that Abraham had two sons, one by the maid-servant, and one by the free-woman,

²³देवाच्या वचनाचा परिणाम म्हणून जन्मला.

²³but he who [is] of the maid-servant, according to flesh hath been, and he who [is] of the free-woman, through the promise;

²⁴या गोष्टी दृष्टांतरुप आहेत, त्या स्त्रिया दोन करार आहेत. एक करार सीनाय पर्वतावर झाला. आणि ज्यांच्या नशिबी गुलामगिरी होती अशा लोकांना त्याने जन्म दिला. हा करार हागारशी संबंध दर्शवितो.

²⁴which things are allegorized, for these are the two covenants: one, indeed, from mount Sinai, to servitude bringing forth, which is Hagar;

²⁵हागार ही अरबस्तानातील सीनाय पर्वताचे दर्शक हल्लीच्या यरुशलेमचे बाह्यरुप आहे. कारण ती आपल्या मुलासह गुलामगिरीत आहे.

²⁵for this Hagar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and doth correspond to the Jerusalem that now [is], and is in servitude with her children,

²⁶परंतु स्वर्गीय यरुशलेम स्वतंत्र आहे. स्वर्गीय यरुशलेम ही आमची आई आहे.

²⁶and the Jerusalem above is the free-woman, which is mother of us all,

²⁷कारण असे लिहिले आहे. जिने जन्म दिला नाही, त्या मूल नसलेल्या (स्त्रीने) आनंद करावा! ज्या तुला प्रसूतिवेदना झालेल्या नाहीत ती तू आनंदाने घोष कर, आरोळी मार, कारण जिला पती आहे तिच्या मुलांपेक्षा सोडलेल्या स्त्रीची मुले अधिक आहेत” यशया 54:1

²⁷for it hath been written, `Rejoice, O barren, who art not bearing; break forth and cry, thou who art not travailing, because many [are] the children of the desolate — more than of her having the husband.`

²⁸And we, brethren, as Isaac, are children of promise,

²⁹but as then he who was born according to the flesh did persecute him according to the spirit, so also now;

³⁰पण पवित्र शास्त्र काय सांगते? “त्या गुलाम मुलीला व तिच्या पुत्राला घालवून दे, कारण गुलाम मुलगा स्वतंत्र स्त्रीच्या मुलाबरोबर वारस होणार नाही.”

³⁰but what saith the Writing? `Cast forth the maid-servant and her son, for the son of the maid-servant may not be heir with the son of the free-woman;`

³¹यासाठी बंधूंनो, आपण गुलाम मुलीची नाही तर स्वतंत्र स्त्रीची मुले आहोत.

³¹then, brethren, we are not a maid-servant`s children, but the free-woman`s.
