1तुम्ही लोकांनी राजाला नजराणा पाठविला पाहिजे. तुम्ही सेला येथील कोकरू वाळवंटामार्गे सीयोनकन्येच्या डोंगरावर (यरूशलेमला) पाठविले पाहिजे.
1Send ye a lamb [to] the ruler of the land, From Selah in the wilderness, Unto the mount of the daughter of Zion.
2मवाबच्या स्त्रिया अर्णोन नदी ओलांडण्याचा प्रयत्न करतील. त्या मदतीसाठी सैरभैर धावतील. त्यांची स्थिती, घरटे मोडल्यामुळे जमिनीवर पडलेल्या चिमुकल्या पाखराप्रमाणे होईल.
2And it hath come to pass, As a wandering bird, a nest cast out, Are daughters of Moab, [at] fords of Arnon.
3त्या म्हणतात, “आम्हाला मदत करा, आम्ही काय करावे ते सांगा. जशी सावली दुपारच्या उन्हापासून आपले रक्षण करते, तसे शत्रूपासून आमचे रक्षण करा. आम्ही शत्रूला चुकवून पळत आहोत. आम्हाला लपवा. आम्हाला शत्रूच्या ताब्यात देऊ नका.”
3Bring ye in counsel, do judgment, Make as night thy shadow in the midst of noon, Hide outcasts, the wanderer reveal not.
4मवाबमधील लोकांना बळजबरीने त्यांची घरे सोडावी लागली. म्हणून त्यांना तुमच्या देशात राहू द्या. शत्रूंपासून त्यांना लपवा. लुटालूट थांबेल. शत्रूचा पराभव होईल. दुसऱ्यांना त्रास देणारे ह्या भूमीतून जातील.
4Sojourn in thee do My outcasts, O Moab, Be a secret hiding-place to them, From the face of a destroyer, For ceased hath the extortioner, Finished hath been a destroyer, Consumed the treaders down out of the land.
5नंतर नवा राजा गादीवर बसेल. तो दाविदाच्या वंशातला असेल. तो सत्यप्रिय, प्रेमळ व दयाळू असेल. तो खरेपणाने न्याय देईल. तो योग्य व बरोबर अशाच गोष्टी करील.
5And established in kindness is the throne, And [one] hath sat on it in truth, in the tent of David, Judging and seeking judgment, and hasting righteousness.
6आम्ही मवाबवासीयांच्या गर्वाविषयी व अहंकारविषयी ऐकले आहे. ते दांडगट व बढाईखोर आहेत. पण त्यांच्या बढाया निरर्थक आहेत.
6We have heard of the pride of Moab — very proud, His pride, and his arrogance, and his wrath, Not right [are] his devices.
7त्या गर्वामुळे सर्व देशाला दु:ख भोगावे लागेल. सर्व मवाबवासीयांना रडावे लागेल लोक दु:खी होतील. पूर्वीच्या गोष्टी त्यांना हव्याशा वाटतील. कीर हेरेसेथमध्ये तयार झालेले अंजिराचे केक त्यांना हवे असतील.
7Therefore howl doth Moab for Moab, all of it doth howl, For the grape-cakes of Kir-Hareseth it meditateth, Surely they are smitten.
8हेशबोनमधील मळे व सिब्मेच्या द्राक्षवेली सुकून गेल्या म्हणून लोकांना वाईट वाटेल. परकीय राजांनी द्राक्षवेली तोडून टाकल्या. शत्रूचे सैन्य दूर याजेरपर्यत पसरले आहे. ते वाळवंटापासून समुद्रापर्यंत पसरले आहे.
8Because fields of Heshbon languish, The vine of Sibmah, Lords of nations did beat her choice vines, Unto Jazer they have come, They have wandered in a wilderness, Her plants have spread themselves, They have passed over a sea.
9“द्राक्षांचा नाश झाला म्हणून मी याजेर व सब्मे यांच्याबरोबर शोक करीन. सुगीचा मोसम येणार नाही म्हणून मी हेशबोन व एलाले यांच्याबरोबर रडीन. उन्हाळी फळे पण नसतील आणि हर्षोल्लास पण नसेल.
9Therefore I weep with the weeping of Jazer, The vine of Sibmah, I water thee [with] my tear, O Heshbon and Elealeh, For — for thy summer fruits, and for thy harvest, The shouting hath fallen.
10कारमेलमध्ये (द्राक्षमळ्यात) आनंदगान होणार नाही. सुगीच्या काळातील आनंद मी कोणालाही होऊ देणार नाही. द्राक्ष मद्य काढण्यासाठी तयार आहेत पण ती नासून जातील.
10And removed have been gladness and joy from the fruitful field, And in vineyards they sing not, nor shout, Wine in the presses treadeth not the treader, Shouting I have caused to cease.
11म्हणून मला मवाबबद्दल आणि कीर हेरेसबद्दल फार वाईट वाटते या शहरांबद्दल मला खरोखरच अतिशय वाईट वाटते.
11Therefore my bowels for Moab as a harp do sound, And mine inward parts for Kir-Haresh.
12मवाबवासी त्यांच्या प्रार्थनास्थळी जाऊन प्रार्थना करण्याचा प्रयत्न करतील, पण काय घडले ते त्यांना दिसेल. ते इतके दुर्बल झालेले असतील की प्रार्थना करण्याची शक्ती त्यांच्यात नसेल.”
12And it hath come to pass, when it hath been seen, That weary hath been Moab on the high place, And he hath come unto his sanctuary to pray, And is not able.
13मवाबबद्दलच्या ह्या गोष्टी परमेश्वराने बऱ्याच वेळा सांगितल्या. 14आणि आता परमेश्वर म्हणतो, “तीन वर्षांत सर्व लोक आणि लोक ज्या वस्तूंचा अभिमान बाळगत होते, त्या सर्व वस्तू नाहीशा होतील. तेथे अगदी थोडे लोक उरतील.”
13This [is] the word that Jehovah hath spoken unto Moab from that time,
14[This verse may not be a part of this translation]
14And now hath Jehovah spoken, saying, `In three years, as years of an hireling, Lightly esteemed is the honour of Moab, With all the great multitude, And the remnant [is] little, small, not mighty!`
