1हिज्कीयाने सेनापतीचा निरोप ऐकला. निरोप ऐकताच त्याने आपले कपडे फाडले. नंतर त्याने शोकप्रदर्शक कपडे घातले व तो परमेश्वराच्या मंदिरात गेला.
1And it cometh to pass, at the king Hezekiah`s hearing, that he rendeth his garments, and covereth himself with sackcloth, and entereth the house of Jehovah,
2हिज्कीयाने कारभारी (एल्याकीम) चिटणीस (शेबना) आणि याजकातील वडिलधारी मंडळी (नेते) ह्यांना अमोजचा मुलगा यशया या प्रेषिताकडे पाठविले. त्या सगळ्यांनी खास शोकप्रदर्शक कपडे घातले.
2and sendeth Eliakim, who [is] over the house, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covering themselves with sackcloth, unto Isaiah son of Amoz the prophet,
3ते तिघे यशयाला म्हणाले, “आजचा दिवस विशेष शोकाचा व दु:खाचा समजावा असा हिज्कीया राजाने हुकूम दिला आहे. हा दिवस फार दु:खाचा असेल. कळा सुरू व्हाव्यात पण प्रसूती होऊ नये तसा हा दिवस असेल.
3and they say unto him, `Thus said Hezekiah, A day of distress, and rebuke, and despising, [is] this day; for come have sons unto the birth, and power there is not to bear.
4सेनापतीने सांगितलेल्या गोष्टी, परमेश्वर तुमचा देव कदचित् ऐकेल. अश्शूरच्या राजाने प्रत्यक्षातील देवाबद्दल वाईटसाईट बोलण्यास आपल्या सेनापतीला पाठविले आणि परमेश्वराने, तुमच्या देवाने. ती निंदा ऐकली. इस्राएलमध्ये राहिलेल्या थोड्या लोकांसाठी प्रार्थना करा.”
4`It may be Jehovah thy God doth hear the words of Rabshakeh with which the king of Asshur his lord hath sent him to reproach the living God, and hath decided concerning the words that Jehovah thy God hath heard, and thou hast lifted up prayer for the remnant that is found.`

5And the servants of king Hezekiah come in unto Isaiah,

6and Isaiah saith unto them, `Thus do ye say unto your lord, Thus said Jehovah, Be not afraid because of the words that thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Asshur have reviled Me.
7पाहा! मी माझा आत्मा अश्शूरविरूध्द पाठवीन. अश्शूरच्या राजाला, त्याच्या देशाला असलेल्या धोक्याच्या सुचनेचा वृत्तांत समजेल मग तो त्याच्या देशाला परत जाईल. त्या वेळी त्याच्याच देशात मी त्याला तलवारीने मारीन.”‘
7Lo, I am giving in him a spirit, and he hath heard a report, and hath turned back unto his land, and I have caused him to fall by the sword in his land.`

8And Rabshakeh turneth back and findeth the king of Asshur fighting against Libnah, for he hath heard that he hath journeyed from Lachish.

9And he heareth concerning Tirhakah king of Cush, saying, `He hath come out to fight with thee;` and he heareth, and sendeth messengers unto Hezekiah, saying,
10“तुम्ही पुढील गोष्टी यहुदाचा राजा हिज्कीया याला सांगाव्या: तू ज्या देवावर विश्वास ठेवतोस त्याच्याकडून फसू नको. ‘देव अश्शूरच्या राजाकडून यरूशलेमचा पराभव होऊ देणार नाही.”‘ असे म्हणू नको.
10`Thus do ye speak unto Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God lift thee up in whom thou art trusting, saying, Jerusalem is not given into the hand of the king of Asshur.
11ऐक! तू अश्शूरच्या राजांबद्दल ऐकले आहेस. अश्शूरच्या सैन्याने प्रत्येक देशाचा पराभव केला आहे. अश्शूरचा राजा तुझा पराभव करून तुला ठार मारील.
11Lo, thou hast heard that which the kings of Asshur have done to all the lands — to devote them — and thou art delivered!
12त्या सर्व पराभूत झालेल्या लोकांना त्यांच्या देवांनी वाचविले का? नाही माझ्या पूर्वजांनी त्यांचा नाश केला. माझ्या सैन्याने गोजान, हारान, रेसफ व तलस्सारातील एदेनमध्ये राहणाऱ्या लोकांचा पराभव केला.
12Did the gods of the nations deliver them whom my fathers destroyed — Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the sons of Eden, who [are] in Telassar?
13हमाथ आणि अर्पाद येथील राजे कोठे आहेत? सफखाईमचा राजा कोठे आहे? हेनाचा व इव्वाचा राजा कोठे आहे? ते सर्व संपले नाश पावले.
13Where [is] the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah?`
14हिज्कीयाने दूतांकडून संदेश घेऊन वाचला. नंतर हिज्कीया परमेश्वराच्या मंदिरात गेला. हिज्कीयाने तो संदेश उघडून परमेश्वरापुढे ठेवला.
14And Hezekiah taketh the letters out of the hand of the messengers, and readeth them, and Hezekiah goeth up to the house of Jehovah, and Hezekiah spreadeth it before Jehovah.
15तो परमेश्वराची प्रार्थना करू लागला. तो म्हणाला:
15And Hezekiah prayeth unto Jehovah, saying,
16सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वरा, इस्राएलच्या देवा, करूब देवदूतांचा राजा म्हणून तू सिंहासनी बसतोस. देवा, तुझी आणि तुझीच सत्ता पृथ्वीवरील सर्व राज्यांवर चालते. तूच स्वर्ग आणि पृथ्वी निर्माण केलीस.
16`Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, inhabiting the cherubs, Thou [art] God Himself — Thyself alone — to all kingdoms of the earth, Thou hast made the heavens and the earth.
17परमेश्वरा माझे म्हणणे ऐक डोळे उघड आणि सन्हेरिबकडून आलेला संदेश पाहा. सन्हेरिबने मला हा संदेश पाठविला, त्यात जिवंत देवाची म्हणजेच तुझी निंदानालस्ती केली आहे.
17Incline, O Jehovah, Thine ear, and hear; open, O Jehovah, Thine eyes and see; and hear Thou all the words of Sennacherib that he hath sent to reproach the living God.
18परमेश्वरा, अश्शूरच्या राजाने खरोखरीच सर्व देश व त्यांची भूमी यांचा नाश केला आहे.
18`Truly, O Jehovah, kings of Asshur have laid waste all the lands and their land,
19त्याने त्या देशांतील देव जाळले आहेत पण ते देव खरे नव्हते. माणसाने घडविलेले ते पुतळे होते. ते फक्त लाकूड व दगडच होते. म्हणून ते हरवले व नष्ट झाले.
19so as to put their gods into fire — for they [are] no gods, but work of the hands of man, wood and stone — and they destroy them.
20पण तू परमेश्वर आमचा देव आहेस म्हणून अश्शूरच्या राजाच्या बळापासून आम्हाला वाचव. म्हणजे सर्व देशांना कळेल की परमेश्वरच फक्त खरा देव आहेस.
20And now, Jehovah our God, save us from his hand, and all kingdoms of the earth do know that Thou [art] Jehovah, Thyself alone.`
21नंतर आमोजचा मुलगा यशया याने हिज्कीयाला निरोप पाठविला. यशया म्हणाला, “इस्राएलचा देव परमेश्वर म्हणतो. ‘तू परमेश्वराची, इस्राएलच्या देवाची, प्रार्थना केलीस. सन्हेरिबकडून आलेल्या निरोपासाठी ती प्रार्थना होती. मी ती प्रार्थना ऐकली आहे.’
21And Isaiah son of Amoz sendeth unto Hezekiah, saying, `Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, That which thou hast prayed unto me concerning Sennacherib king of Asshur —
22“सन्हेरिब बाबत परमेश्वराचा संदेश असा आहे: ‘अश्शूरच्या राजा, सियोनची वधू (यरूशलेम) तुला महत्व देत नाही. ती तुला हसते. यरूशलेमची कुमारी मुलगी, तुझी टर उडविते.
22this [is] the word that Jehovah spake concerning him: Trampled on thee, laughed at thee, Hath the virgin daughter of Zion, Behind thee shaken the head hath the daughter of Jerusalem.
23अश्शूरच्या राजा, तू माझी निंदा केलीस. तू माझी चेष्टा केलीस. मी कोण आहे हे तुला माहीत आहे का? पापण्या उंचावून स्वर्गाकडे पाहा. मग तुला दिसेल की इस्राएलच्या पवित्र देवाची तू निंदा केली आहेस.
23Whom hast thou reproached and reviled? And against whom lifted up the voice? Yea, thou dost lift up on high thine eyes Against the Holy One of Israel.
24परमेश्वर, माझ्या प्रभुविरूध्द बोलण्यासाठी तू तुझ्या नोकरांचा उपयोग केलास. तू म्हणालास, “मी फार सामर्थ्यवान आहे माझ्याजवळ पुष्कळ रथ आहेत माझ्या बळावर मी लबानोनला हरविले. मी तेथील उंच डोंगरावर चढलो. मी तेथील सर्व उंच झाडे (सैन्ये) तोडली, मी तेथील उंच डोंगरावर व घनदाट जंगलात जाऊन आलो.
24By the hand of thy servants Thou hast reviled the Lord, and sayest: In the multitude of my chariots I have come up to a high place of hills, The sides of Lebanon, And I cut down the height of its cedars, The choice of its firs, And I enter the high place of its extremity, The forest of its Carmel.
25मी विहिरी खणल्या व नवीन ठिकाणी पाणी प्यायलो. मी मिसरच्या नद्या सुकवल्या व त्या प्रदेशावरून चालत गेलो.”
25I — I have dug and drunk waters, And I dry up with the sole of my steps All floods of a bulwark.
26“पण देव म्हणतो, “अश्शूरच्या राजा, मी, देवाने फार पूर्वीच हे केले आहे हे तू ऐकलेच असशील. फार वर्षापूर्वी मी अश्शूरला निर्मिले, मीच तुला येथवर आणले. मीच तुला त्या शहरांचा नाश करण्याची परवानगी दिली. माझे काम करून घेण्यासाठी आणि त्या शहरांना दगडधोड्यांच्या राशीत बदलण्यासाठी मी तुझा उपयोग केला.
26Hast thou not heard from afar? — it I did, From days of old — that I formed it. Now, I have brought it in, And it is to make desolate, Ruinous heaps — fenced cities,
27त्या शहरात राहणारे लोक दुबळे होते. ते घाबरलेले व खजील झालेले होते. शेतात वाढणाऱ्या तणाप्रमाणे ते लोक होते. घराच्या छपरावर उगवणाऱ्या गवतासारखे ते होते. ते उंच होण्यापूर्वीच वाळवंटातील गरम झळांनी जळून जाते.
27And their inhabitants are feeble-handed, They were broken down, and are dried up. They have been the herb of the field, And the greenness of the tender grass, Grass of the roofs, And blasted corn, before it hath risen up.
28मी तुझ्या सैन्याबद्दल व तुझ्या लढायांबद्दल सर्व जाणतो. तू कधी विश्रांती घेतलीस, कधी युध्दावर गेलास व युध्दावरून घरी कधी परतलास हे सर्व मला माहीत आहे. तू माझ्यावर रागावला आहेस, हे ही मला ठाऊक आहे.
28And thy sitting down, and thy going out, And thy coming in, I have known, And thy anger towards Me.
29तू माझ्यावर रागावला आहेस व माझी निंदा केली आहेस. तुझे बोलणे मी ऐकले. म्हणून मी तुला शिक्षा करीन. मी तुझ्या नाकात वेसण घालीन. तुला लगाम घालीन आणि तू ज्या रस्त्याने माझ्या देशात आलास, त्याच रस्त्याने मी तुला माझ्या देशातून हाकलून देईन.”
29Because of thy anger towards Me, And thy noise — it came up into Mine ears, I have put My hook in thy nose, And My bridle in thy lips, And I have caused thee to turn back In the way in which thou camest.
30नंतर परमेश्वर हिज्कीयाला म्हणाला, “हिज्कीया, माझे हे बोलणे खरे आहे हे दाखविण्यासाठी मी तुला खूण देईन. ह्या वर्षी धान्य पेरले जाणार नाही. म्हणून या वर्षी तुम्हाला मागच्या वर्षांच्या पिकातील जुनं धान्य खावे लागेल. पण तीन वर्षांत तुम्ही पेरलेले धान्य खाल. तुम्ही पिकाची कापणी कराल आणि तुमच्याजवळ खाणे मुबलक असेल तुम्ही द्राक्षांची लागवड कराल आणि द्राक्षे खाल.
30— And this to thee [is] the sign, Food of the year [is] self-sown grain, And in the second year the spontaneous growth, And in the third year, sow ye and reap, And plant vineyards, and eat their fruit.
31“यहुदाच्या वंशातील काही लोक वाचले त्या थोड्या लोकांचे खूप मोठे राष्ट्र होईल. मुळे खोलवर रूजून भक्कम वाढणाऱ्या झाडांप्रमाणे ते लोक असतील मुळे खोल रूजलेल्या झाडांना खूप फळे लागतात. त्याचप्रमाणे ह्या लोकांना पुष्कळ संतती होईल.
31And it hath continued — the escaped Of the house of Judah that hath been left — To take root beneath, And it hath made fruit upward.
32जिवंत राहिलेले थोडे लोक यरूशलेममधून येतील सियोनच्या डोंगरावरून वाचलेले येतील.” सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वराच्या तीव्र प्रेमामुळे हे होईल.
32For from Jerusalem goeth forth a remnant, And an escape from mount Zion, The zeal of Jehovah of Hosts doth this.
33म्हणून अश्शूरच्या राजाला परमेश्वराचा संदेश असा आहे. “तो ह्या शहरात प्रवेश करणार नाही, तो ह्या शहराच्या दिशेने एकसुध्दा बाण मारणार नाही. तो ढाली घेऊन ह्या शहराशी लढण्यास पुढे सरसावणार नाही. तो वेशीच्या भिंतीला उतरंड बांधणार नाही.
33Therefore, thus said Jehovah, Concerning the king of Asshur: He doth not come in unto this city, Nor doth he shoot there an arrow, Nor doth he come before it [with] shield, Nor doth he pour out against it a mount.
34तो आला त्याच रस्त्याने स्वत:च्या देशाला परत जाईल. तो ह्या शहरात प्रवेश करणार नाही, हा परमेश्वराने दिलेला संदेश होता.
34In the way that he came, in it he turneth back, And unto this city he doth not come in, An affirmation of Jehovah,
35देव म्हणतो:मी ह्या शहराचे रक्षण करीन. आणि त्याला वाचवीन. मी हे माझ्यासाठी आणि माझा सेवक दाविदासाठी करीन.”
35And I have covered over this city, To save it, for Mine own sake, And for the sake of David My servant.`
36मग परमेश्वराच्या दूताने जाऊन अश्शूरच्या तळावरील 185,000 माणसांना ठार मारले. सकाळी उठून लोक पाहतात तो त्यांच्या सभोवती प्रेते पडलेली.
36And a messenger of Jehovah goeth out, and smiteth in the camp of Asshur a hundred and eighty and five thousand; and [men] rise early in the morning, and lo, all of them [are] dead corpses.
37मग अश्शूरचा राजा, सन्हेरिब निनवेला परत गेला आणि तेथेच राहिला.
37And journey, and go, and turn back doth Sennacherib king of Asshur, and dwelleth in Nineveh.
38एके दिवशी, सन्हेरीब त्याच्या निस्त्रोख देवाच्या देवळात पूजा करीत असताना, त्याच्या दोन मुलांनी, अद्रम्मेलेक व शरेसर यांनी, त्यास तलवारीने ठार मारले. मग ते अराराटला पळून गेले. म्हणून सन्हेरीबचा मुलगा एसर-हद्दोन अश्शूरचा राजा झाला.
38And it cometh to pass, he is bowing himself in the house of Nisroch his god, and Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons have smitten him with the sword, and they have escaped to the land of Ararat, and Esar-Haddon his son reigneth in his stead.
