1उज्जीया राजाच्या मृत्यूच्या वर्षीच मी माझ्या प्रभूला पाहिले. तो एका उच्च व विलक्षण सुंदर सिंहासनावर बसला होता. त्याच्या पायघोळ पोशाखाने सर्व मंदिर भरून गेले होते.
1In the year of the death of king Uzziah — I see the Lord, sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and His train is filling the temple.
2देवदूत परमेश्वराभोवती उभे होते. प्रत्येक देवदूताला सहा पंख होते. त्यातील दोन पंखांनी ते चेहरा झाकीत. दोनने पाय झाकीत व उरलेल्या दोन पंखांनी उडत.
2Seraphs are standing above it: six wings hath each one; with two [each] covereth its face, and with two [each] covereth its feet, and with two [each] flieth.
3ते देवदूत एकमेकांशी बोलत होते. ते म्हणत होते, “पवित्र, पवित्र, पवित्र सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर परमपवित्र आहे. त्याची प्रभा सगळ्या पृथ्वीला व्यापून राहिली आहे.” देवदूतांचे आवाज फार मोठे होते.
3And this one hath called unto that, and hath said: `Holy, Holy, Holy, [is] Jehovah of Hosts, The fulness of all the earth [is] His glory.`
4त्यांच्या आवाजाने मंदिराच्या दाराची चौकट हादरली नंतर मंदिर धुराने भरून गेले.
4And the posts of the thresholds are moved by the voice of him who is calling, and the house is full of smoke.
5मी फारच घाबरलो. मी म्हणालो, “हाय रे देवा! आता माझा नाश होणार देवाशी संवाद करण्याइतका मी पवित्र किंवा शुध्द नाही आणि मी ज्या माणसांत राहतो, तीही देवाशी प्रत्यक्ष बोलण्याइतकी शुध्द नाहीत. तरीसुध्दा राजाधिराज, सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वराला मी पाहिले आहे.”
5And I say, `Wo to me, for I have been silent, For a man — unclean of lips [am] I, And in midst of a people unclean of lips I am dwelling, Because the King, Jehovah of Hosts, have my eyes seen.`
6तेथे वेदीवर अग्नी प्रज्वलित केलेला होता एका सराफ देवदूताने चिमट्याने त्यातील निखारा उचलला. सराफ देवदूत तो निखारा घेऊन माझ्याकडे उडत आला.
6And flee unto me doth one of the seraphs, and in his hand a burning coal, (with tongs he hath taken [it] from off the altar,)
7त्या निखांऱ्याचा स्पर्श त्याने माझ्या तोंडाला केला नंतर तो देवदूत म्हणाला, “हे बघ! ह्या निखाऱ्याच्या स्पर्शाने तुझी सर्व दुष्कृत्ये नाहिशी झाली आहेत. तुझी पापे आता पुसली गेली आहेत.”
7and he striketh against my mouth, and saith: `Lo, this hath stricken against thy lips, And turned aside is thine iniquity, And thy sin is covered.`
8नंतर मला माझ्या परमेश्वराचा आवाज ऐकू आला. परमेश्वर म्हणाला, “मी कोणाला पाठवू! आमच्यासाठी कोण जाईल?” मग मी म्हणालो, “हा मी तयार आहे, मला पाठव.”
8And I hear the voice of the Lord, saying: `Whom do I send? and who doth go for Us?` And I say, `Here [am] I, send me.`
9नंतर परमेश्वर म्हणाला, “जा आणि ह्या लोकांना सांग: ‘काळजीपूर्वक ऐका पण समजून घेऊ नका. काळजीपूर्वक पाहा पण शिकू नका.’
9And He saith, `Go, and thou hast said to this people, Hear ye — to hear, and ye do not understand, And see ye — to see, and ye do not know.
10लोकांना गोंधळात टाक, लोक जे ऐकतील आणि पाहतील ते त्यांना समजणार नाही असे कर. तू असे केले नाहीस तर कदाचित् लोक जे कानांनी ऐकतील आणि डोळ्यांनी पाहतील, तेच खरे समजतील. असे जर झाले तर ते मला शरण येतील आणि बरे होतील.”
10Declare fat the heart of this people, And its ears declare heavy, And its eyes declare dazzled, Lest it see with its eyes, And with its ears hear, and its heart consider, And it hath turned back, and hath health.`
11नंतर मी विचारले, ‘प्रभू, मी हे असे किती दिवस करू?’ परमेश्वर उत्तरला, “लोक पळून जाऊन शहरे निर्जन होईपर्यंत, आता भरलेली घरे निर्मनुष्य होईपर्यंत, किंबहुना ही सर्व भूमी उजाड व वैराण होईपर्यंत तू असे कर.”
11And I say, `Till when, O Lord?` And He saith, `Surely till cities have been wasted without inhabitant, And houses without man, And the ground be wasted — a desolation,
12परमेश्वर लोकांना दूर पळवून लावील ह्या देशात खूप मोठी ओसाड जमीन तयार होईल.
12And Jehovah hath put man far off, And great [is] the forsaken part in the heart of the land.
13पण लोकसंख्येचा दहावा हिस्सा ह्या भूमीवर राहतील. त्यांचा नाश होणार होता तरीही ते परमेश्वराकडे परत येतील. हे लोक एलाच्या झाडाप्रमाणे असतील. एलाचे झाड कापले तरी बुडखा शिल्लक राहतोच. हे राहिलेले लोक त्या बुडख्याप्रमाणे असतील. हे लोक खास बीज म्हणजेच देवाची लाडकी लेकरे असतील.
13And yet in it a tenth, and it hath turned, And hath been for a burning, As a teil-tree, and as an oak, that in falling, Have substance in them, The holy seed [is] its substance!`
