¹हा परमेश्वराचा संदेश आहे “इस्राएल तुला परत यायचे असेल तर माझ्याकडे परत ये. तुझ्या मूर्ती फेकून दे. माझ्यापासून दूर जाऊन भटकू नकोस.

¹If thou dost turn back, O Israel, An affirmation of Jehovah, unto Me turn back, And if thou dost turn aside Thine abominations from My face, Then thou dost not bemoan.

²तू ह्या गोष्टी केल्यास, तर तू शपथ घेण्यासाठी माझे नाव वापरु शकशील. ‘परमेश्वर असे तो पर्यंत,’ असे तू म्हणू शकशील. तू हे शब्द खऱ्या, प्रमाणिक आणि योग्य, तऱ्हेने वापरु शकशील. तू ह्या गोष्टी केल्यास परमेश्वर राष्ट्रांना आशीर्वाद देईल. ती राष्ट्रे परमेश्वराने केलेल्या कृत्यांबद्दल बढाया मारतील.”

²And thou hast sworn — Jehovah liveth, In truth, in judgment, and in righteousness, And blessed themselves in Him have nations, And in Him they boast themselves.

³परमेश्वर यहूदा व यरुशलेम मधील लोकांना म्हणतो: “तुमची शेते नांगरलेली नाहीत. तो शेते नांगरा. काट्यात बी पेरु नका.

³For thus said Jehovah, To the man of Judah, and to Jerusalem: Till for yourselves tillage, And do not sow unto the thorns.

⁴परमेश्वराची माणसे व्हा. तुमची ह्रदये बदला यहुदातील आणि यरुशलेममधील लोकांनो तुम्ही बदलला नाहीत, तर मी खूप रागावेन. माझा राग आगीप्रमाणे वेगाने पसरुन तुम्हाला जाळून टाकील. असे का घडेल? तुम्ही केलेल्या दुष्कृंत्यांमुळे असे घडेल.”

⁴Be circumcised to Jehovah, And turn aside the foreskins of your heart, O man of Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, Lest My fury go out as fire, and hath burned, And there is none quenching, Because of the evil of your doings.

⁵“यहूदाच्या लोकांना हा संदेश द्या. यरुशलेममधील प्रत्येकाला सांगा: ‘सर्व देशभर रणशिंगे फुंका, मोठ्याने ओरडून सांगा, “एकत्र या. सुरक्षिततेसाठी आपण सर्व मजबूत शहराकडे जाऊ या.’

⁵Declare in Judah, and in Jerusalem sound, And say ye, `Blow a trumpet in the land,` Call ye fully, and say ye: `Be gathered, and we go in to the fenced city.`

⁶खुणेचे ध्वज सियोनच्या दिशेने दाखवा. जीव वाचविण्यासाठी पळा. वाट पाहू नका. कारण मी उत्तरेकडून अरिष्ट आणीत आहे. मी भयानक विध्वंस घडवून आणीत आहे.”

⁶Lift up an ensign Zionward, Strengthen yourselves, stand not still, For evil I am bringing in from the north, And a great destruction.

⁷“सिंह त्याच्या गुहेतून बाहेर आला आहे. राष्ट्रांचा नाश करणाऱ्याने कूच करायला सुरवात केली आहे. तुमच्या देशाचा नाश करण्यासाठी त्याने त्याचे घर सोडले आहे. तुमच्या शहरांचा नाश होईल. तेथे कोणीही शिल्लक राहणार नाही.

⁷Gone up hath a lion from his thicket, And a destroyer of nations hath journeyed, He hath come forth from his place To make thy land become a desolation, Thy cities are laid waste, without inhabitant.

⁸म्हणून शोकवस्त्रे घाला आणि मोठ्याने आक्रोश करा. का? कारण परमेश्वर आमच्यावर रागावला आहे.”

⁸For this, gird on sackcloth, lament and howl, For the fierce anger of Jehovah hath not turned back from us.

⁹परमेश्वर म्हणतो, “हे घडत असताना, राजा आणि त्याचे अधिकारी यांचा धीर सुटेल, याजक घाबरतील, संदेष्ट्यांना धक्का बसेल.”

⁹And it hath come to pass, in that day, An affirmation of Jehovah: `Perish doth the heart of the king, And the heart of the princes, And astonished have been the priests, And the prophets do wonder.`

¹⁰नंतर, मी, यिर्मया, म्हणालो, “परमेश्वरा, माझ्या प्रभू तू यहुदातील आणि यरुशलेममधील लोकांना खरोखरच युक्तीने फसविलेस. ‘तू त्यांना म्हणालास की तुम्हाला शांती मिळेल.’ पण आता, तू तलवारीचे पातेच त्यांच्या नरड्याला लावीत आहेस.”

¹⁰And I say, `Ah, Lord Jehovah, Surely thou hast entirely forgotten this people and Jerusalem, saying, Peace is for you, And struck hath a sword unto the soul!`

¹¹त्या वेळेला यहुदा व यरुशलेम येथील लोकांना एक संदेश दिला जाईल. “उजाड टेकड्यावरुन गरम वारा वाहतो. तो वाळवंटातून माझ्या लोकांकडे वाहत येतो. फोलकटापासून धान्य वेगळे करण्याकरिता शेतकरी ज्या वाऱ्याचा उपयोग करतात, तसा हा सौम्य वारा नाही.”

¹¹At that time it is said of this people, And of Jerusalem: `A dry wind of high places in the wilderness,` The way of the daughter of My people, (Not for winnowing, nor for cleansing,)

¹²हा वारा त्यापेक्षा जोराचा आहे आणि तो माझ्याकडून येतो आता, “मी यहुदाच्या लोकांविरुद्ध माझा निकाल जाहीर करीन.”

¹²A full wind from these doth come for Me, Now, also, I speak judgments with them.

¹³पाहा! शत्रू ढगाप्रमाणे वर येतो. त्याचे रथ वावटळीप्रमाणे दिसतात, त्यांचे घोडे गरुडांपेक्षा वेगवान आहेत. हे सर्व आपल्या दृष्टीने अतिशय वाईट आहे. आपला विध्वंस झाला!

¹³Lo, as clouds he cometh up, And as a hurricane his chariots, Lighter than eagles have been his horses, Wo to us, for we have been spoiled.

¹⁴यरुशलेममधील लोकांनो, तुमच्या मनातील पाप धुवून टाका. तुमची मने शुद्ध करा. मग तुम्ही वाचविले जाऊ शकता. दुष्ट बेत करीत बसू नका.

¹⁴Wash from evil thy heart, O Jerusalem, That thou mayest be saved, Till when dost thou lodge in thy heart Thoughts of thy strength?

¹⁵ऐका! दान प्रांतातून दूताचा आवाज येत आहे. एफ्राईम ह्या टेकड्यांच्या देशातून हा माणूस वाईट बातमी आणीत आहे.

¹⁵For a voice is declaring from Dan, And sounding sorrow from mount Ephraim.

¹⁶“ही बातमी ह्या देशाला कथन करा. यरुशलेमच्या लोकांत ही बातमी पसरवा दुरवरच्या देशांतून शत्रू येत आहेत. यहुदाच्या विरुद्ध ते युद्धाची घोषण करीत आहेत.

¹⁶Make ye mention to the nations, Lo, sound ye to Jerusalem: `Besiegers are coming from the land afar off, And they give forth against cities of Judah their voice.

¹⁷शेताचे रक्षण करण्यासाठी लोक शेताभोवती कडे करतात तसा शत्रूने यरुशलेमला वेढा घातला आहे. यहूदा, तू माझ्याविरुद्ध गेलीस म्हणून शत्रू तुझ्याविरुद्ध चढाई करण्यास येत आहे.” हा परमेश्वराचा संदेश आहे.

¹⁷As the keepers of a field They have been against her round about, For with Me she hath been rebellious, An affirmation of Jehovah.`

¹⁸“तू ज्या तऱ्हेने राहिलीस आणि जी कर्मे केलीस. त्यामुळे हे संकट तुझ्यावर आले. तुझ्या पापाने तुझे जीवन कठीण केले. तुझ्या पापी जीवनामुळे, तुझ्या अंत:करणाला खोल जखमा होऊन वेदना झाल्या.”

¹⁸Thy way and thy doings have done these to thee, This [is] thy vexation, for [it is] bitter, For it hath struck unto thy heart.

¹⁹अरे रे! दु:खाने आणि काळजीने माझ्या पोटात खड्ढा पडत आहे. मी वेदनेने वाकत आहे. मी खरच खूप घाबरलो आहे. माझ्या ह्रदया धडधडत आहे. मी गप्प बसू शकत नाही का? मी रणशिंग फुंकलेले ऐकले आहे. रणशिंग सैनिकांना युद्धासाठी बोलावीत आहे.

¹⁹My bowels, my bowels! I am pained [at] the walls of my heart, Make a noise for me doth My heart, I am not silent, For the voice of a trumpet I have heard, O my soul — a shout of battle!

²⁰अरिष्टामागून अरिष्ट येते. संपूर्ण देशाचा नाश झाला. अचानक माझ्या तंबूचा नाश झाला. कनाती फाडल्या गेल्या.

²⁰Destruction on destruction is proclaimed, For spoiled hath been all the land, Suddenly spoiled have been my tents, In a moment — my curtains.

²¹परमेश्वरा, युद्धाची निशाणी मला किती काळ पाहिली पाहिजे? किती वेळ मी रणशिंग ऐकले पाहिजे?

²¹Till when do I see an ensign? Do I hear the voice of a trumpet?

²²देव म्हणतो, “माझे लोक मूर्ख आहेत. ते मला ओळखत नाहीत. ती मूर्ख मुले आहेत त्यांना समजत नाही. दुष्कृत्ये करण्यात ते पटाईत आहेत पण सत्कृत्ये कशी करावी त्यांना माहीत नाही.”

²²For my people [are] foolish, me they have not known, Foolish sons [are] they, yea, they [are] not intelligent, Wise [are] they to do evil, And to do good they have not known.

²³मी पृथ्वीकडे पाहिले. पृथ्वी उजाड आणि अस्ताव्यस्त होती. पृथ्वीवर काहीही नव्हते. मी आकाशाकडे पाहिले त्याचा प्रकाश गेला होता.

²³I looked [to] the land, and lo, waste and void, And unto the heavens, and their light is not.

²⁴मी डोंगराकडे पाहिले ते कापत होते. सर्व टेकड्या थरथरत होत्या.

²⁴I have looked [to] the mountains, And lo, they are trembling. And all the hills moved themselves lightly.

²⁵मी पाहिले पण कोठेही माणसे नव्हती. आकाशातील सर्व पक्षी दूर उडून गेले होते.

²⁵I have looked, and lo, man is not, And all fowls of the heavens have fled.

²⁶मी पाहिले आणि सुपीक जमिनीचे वाळवंट झाले. त्या भूमीवरील सर्व शहरांचा नाश झाला. परमेश्वराने हे घडविले. परमेश्वराने आणि त्याच्या क्रोधाने हे घडवून आणले.

²⁶I have looked, and lo, The fruitful place [is] a wilderness, And all its cities have been broken down, Because of Jehovah, Because of the fierceness of His anger.

²⁷परमेश्वर पुढील गोष्टी सांगतो: “संपूर्ण देशाचा नाश होईल. (पण मी देशाचा संपूर्ण नाश करणार नाही.)

²⁷For thus said Jehovah: All the land is a desolation, but a completion I make not.

²⁸म्हणून देशातील लोक मृतांसाठी शोक करतील. आकाश काळे होईल. मी बोललो आहे ते बदलणार नाही. मी निर्णय घेतला आहे आणि मी बदलणार नाही.”

²⁸For this doth the land mourn, And black have been the heavens above, because I have spoken — I have purposed, And I have not repented, Nor do I turn back from it.

²⁹यहुदातील लोक घोडेस्वारांचा व धनुर्धरांचा आवाज ऐकतील आणि ते पळून जातील. काही लोक गुहांतून लपतील काही झुडुपांत लपतील. काही डोंगरकड्यावर चढतील. यहुदातील सर्व शहरे ओस पडतील. तेथे कोणीही राहणार नाही.

²⁹From the voice of the horseman, And of him shooting with the bow, all the city is fleeing, They have come into thickets, And on cliffs they have gone up, All the city is forsaken, And there is no one dwelling in them.

³⁰यहूदा, तुझा नाश होत आला आहे. मग आता तू काय करीत आहेस? तुझा उत्तम लाल पोशाख तू का घालीत आहेस? तुझे सोन्याचे दागिने तू का घालीत आहेस? तू डोळ्यांचा साजशृंगार का करीत आहेस? तू स्वत:ला सुंदर बनवितेस पण हे वेळेचा अपव्यय करणे आहे. तुझे प्रियकर तुझा तिरस्कार करतात. ते तुला ठार मारण्याचा प्रयत्न करीत आहेत.

³⁰And thou, O spoiled one, what dost thou? For thou puttest on scarlet, For thou adornest thyself [with] ornaments of gold. For thou rendest with pain thine eyes, In vain thou dost make thyself fair, Kicked against thee have doting ones, Thy life they do seek.

³¹स्त्री प्रसूतिवेदना होताना ओरडते, तसा आवाज मी ऐकतो. पहिल्या बाळंतपणाच्या वेळेला स्त्री ज्याप्रमाणे किंकाळी फोडते, तशीच ती किंकाळी आहे. हा सियोनकन्येचा आवाज आहे. ती प्रार्थनेसाठी हात जोडत आहे. ती म्हणत आहे, “हे देवा, मी चक्कर येऊन पडण्याच्या बेतात आहे. खुन्यांनी मला घेरले आहे!”

³¹For a voice as of a sick woman I have heard, Distress, as of one bringing forth a first-born, The voice of the daughter of Zion, She bewaileth herself, she spreadeth out her hands, `Wo to me now, for weary is my soul of slayers!`
