¹परमेश्वर म्हणतो, “मी जोरदार वादळ निर्माण करीन. त्या वादळाचा तडाखा बाबेलला व तिच्या लोकांना देईन.

¹Thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am stirring up against Babylon, And the inhabitants of Leb — My withstanders, A destroying wind,

²मी बाबेलची उफाणणी करण्यासाठी परदेशी लोक पाठवीन. ते बाबेलला पाखडून काढतील. ते बाबेलमधून सर्व काही नेतील सैन्य बाबेलला वेढा देईल. बाबेलमध्ये भयंकर संहार होईल.

²And I have sent to Babylon fanners, And they have fanned it, and they empty its land, For they have been against it, Round about — in the day of evil.

³बाबेलच्या सैन्याला त्यांच्या धनुष्यबाणांचा उपयोग करता येणार नाही. त्यांना चिलखते चढवायलाही वेळ मिळणार नाही. बाबेलच्या तरुण पिढीबद्दल खेद करु नका. बाबेलच्या सैन्याचा नाश करा.

³Let not the treader tread his bow, Nor lift himself up in his coat of mail, Nor have ye pity on her young men, Devote ye to destruction all her host.

⁴बाबेलचे सैनिक खास्द्यांच्या भूमीत गारद केले जातील. बाबेलच्या रस्त्यांवर मोठ्या प्रमाणात जखमी केले जातील.”

⁴And fallen have the wounded in the land of the Chaldeans, And the pierced-through in her streets.

⁵सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वराने इस्राएलला व यहूदास, विधवेप्रमाणे टाकून दिलेले नाही. देवाने त्या लोकांचा त्याग केलेला नाही. उलटपक्षी, त्याच लोकांनी इस्राएलच्या एकमेव पवित्र परमेश्वराला सोडण्याचा गुन्हा केला आहे. लोकांनी परमेश्वराला सोडले. पण देवाने काही त्या लोकांना दूर लोटले नाही.

⁵For, not forsaken is Israel and Judah, By its God — by Jehovah of Hosts, For their land hath been full of guilt, Against the Holy One of Israel.

⁶स्वत:चा जीव वाचविण्यासाठी बाबेलमधून दूर पळून जा. बाबेलच्या पापांबद्दल, मागे राहून, स्वत:वर मरण ओढवून घेऊ नका. त्यांच्या दुष्कृत्यांबद्दल त्यांना परमेश्वराने सजा देण्याची वेळ आता आली आहे. बाबेलला योग्य अशीच सजा मिळेल.

⁶Flee ye from the midst of Babylon, And deliver ye each his soul, Be not cut off in its iniquity, For a time of vengeance it [is] to Jehovah, Recompence He is rendering to her.

⁷बाबेल म्हणजे जणू काही परमेश्वराच्या हातातील सोन्याचा प्याला होता. बाबेलने सर्व जगाला मद्य पाजले. राष्ट्रांनी बाबेलचे मद्य प्यायले आणि ते खुळे झाले.

⁷A golden cup [is] Babylon in the hand of Jehovah, Making drunk all the earth, Of its wine drunk have nations, Therefore boast themselves do nations.

⁸पण बाबेलचे अकस्मात पतन होईल आणि त्याची शकले पडतील. तिच्यासाठी शोक करा. तिच्या दु:खावर इलाज करा. कदाचित् तिच्या जखमा भरुन येतील.

⁸Suddenly hath Babylon fallen, Yea, it is broken, howl ye for it, Take balm for her pain, if so be it may be healed.

⁹We healed Babylon, and she was not healed, Forsake her, and we go, each to his land, For come unto the heavens hath its judgment, And it hath been lifted up unto the clouds.

¹⁰Jehovah hath brought forth our righteousnesses, Come, and we recount in Zion the work of Jehovah our God.

¹¹बाण धारदार करा! ढाली घ्या. परमेश्वराला मेद्यांच्या राजाकडून बाबेल नष्ट करायचे होते, म्हणून त्याने त्यांना स्फूर्ती दिली. बाबेलच्या लोकांना योग्य अशी शिक्षा परमेश्वर करील. बाबेलच्या सैन्याने यरुशलेममधील परमेश्वराचे मंदिर उध्वस्त केले. त्याबद्दल परमेश्वर त्यांना यथायोग्य शिक्षा करील.

¹¹Cleanse ye the arrows, fill the shields, Stirred up hath Jehovah the spirit of the kings of Madia, For against Babylon His device [is] to destroy it, For the vengeance of Jehovah it [is], The vengeance of His temple.

¹²बाबेलच्या तटासमोर झेंडा उभारा. जास्ती रक्षक आणा. पहारेकऱ्यांना त्यांच्या जागी उभे करा. छुपा हल्ला करण्याची तयारी करा. परमेश्वर, त्याने ठरविल्याप्रमाणे करील. बाबेलच्या लोकांविरुद्ध, त्याने सांगितल्याप्रमाणे, तो कारवाई करील.

¹²Unto the walls of Babylon lift up an ensign, Strengthen the watch, Establish the watchers, prepare the ambush, For Jehovah hath both devised and done that which He spake, Concerning the inhabitants of Babylon.

¹³बाबेल, तू भरपूर पाण्याच्या ठिकाणी वसली आहेस. तुझ्याकडे भरपूर संपत्ती आहे. पण राष्ट्र म्हणून तुझा शेवट जवळ आला आहे. तुझा नाश करण्याची हीच वेळ आहे.

¹³O dweller on many waters, abundant in treasures, Come in hath thine end, the measure of thy dishonest gain.

¹⁴सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वराने स्वत:च्या नावाने पुढील वचन दिले, “बाबेल, मी तुझ्यात मोठ्या प्रमाणात शत्रू सैन्य पेरीन. एखाद्या टोळ धाडीप्रमाणे असणारे हे सैन्य तुझ्याविरुध्दची लढाई जिंकले. आणि तुझ्या भूमीवर उभे राहून ते जयघोष करील.”

¹⁴Sworn hath Jehovah of Hosts by Himself, That, Surely I have filled thee [with] men as the cankerworm, And they have cried against thee — shouting.

¹⁵परमेश्वराने आपली महान शक्ती वापरुन ही पृथ्वी निर्माण केली. त्याने आपले ज्ञान वापरुन जगाची उभारणी केली. आपल्या आकलन शक्तीने त्यावर आकाश पांघरले.

¹⁵The maker of earth by His power, The establisher of the world by His wisdom, Who by His understanding stretched out the heavens,

¹⁶जेव्हा परमेश्वर गरजतो, तेव्हा आकाशात ढगांचा गडगडाट होतो तो पृथ्वीवर सर्वत्र ढग पाठवितो पावसाबरोबर वीज पाठवित तो आपल्या कोठारातून वारा आणतो.

¹⁶At the voice He giveth forth, A multitude of waters [are] in the heavens, And He causeth vapours to come up from the end of the earth, Lightnings for rain He hath made, And He bringeth out wind from His treasures.

¹⁷पण लोक इतके मूर्ख असतात की देवाने काय केले ते जाणत नाहीत. कुशाल कारागीर खोट्या दैवतांच्या मूर्ती करतात. त्या मूर्ती खोट्याच असतात. त्या म्हणजे कारगिराच्या मूर्खपणाचे प्रतीक होय. त्या मूर्ती काही जिवंत नसतात.

¹⁷Brutish hath been every man by knowledge, Put to shame hath been every refiner by a graven image, For false [is] his molten image, And there is no breath in them.

¹⁸त्या मूर्ती कवडीमोलाच्या आहेत. लोकांनी घडविलेल्या त्या मूर्ती म्हणजे भ्रम आहे. त्यांच्या न्यायनिवाड्याचा दिवस उजाडेल आणि त्यांचा नाश केला जाईल.

¹⁸Vanity [are] they — work of errors, In the time of their inspection they perish.

¹⁹पण याकोबाचा अंश (देव) त्या टाकाऊ पुतळ्यांसारखा नाही. लोकांनी देवाला निर्माण केले नसून, देवाने त्या लोकांना निर्माण केले. प्रत्येक गोष्टीचा निर्माता तोच एकमेव आहे. त्याचे नाव आहे सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर.

¹⁹Not like these [is] the portion of Jacob, For He [is] former of all things, And [Israel is] the rod of His inheritance, Jehovah of Hosts [is] His name.

²⁰परमेश्वर म्हणतो, “बाबेल, तू माझा दंडुका आहेस. तुझा उपयोग मी राष्ट्रांची शकले व राज्यांचा नाश करण्यासाठी केला.

²⁰An axe [art] thou to me — weapons of war, And I have broken in pieces by thee nations, And I have destroyed by thee kingdoms,

²¹तुझा उपयोग मी घोडे आणि स्वार, रथ आणि सारथी ह्यांचा नाश करण्यासाठी केला.

²¹And I have broken in pieces by thee horse and its rider, And I have broken in pieces by thee chariot and its charioteer,

²²पुरुष आणि स्त्रिया वृद्ध आणि तरुण, तरुणी यांचा नाश करण्यासाठी मी तुझा उपयोग केला.

²²And I have broken in pieces by thee man and woman, And I have broken in pieces by thee old and young, And I have broken in pieces by thee young man and virgin,

²³मेंढपाळ व कळप, शेतकरी आणि गाई, राज्यकर्ते व महत्वाचे अधिकारी यांचा नाश करण्यासाठी मी तुझा उपयोग केला.

²³And I have broken in pieces by thee shepherd and his drove, And I have broken in pieces by thee husbandman and his team, And I have broken in pieces by thee governors and prefects.

²⁴पण मी बाबेलचे व तेथील लोकांचे उट्ठे काढीन. त्यांनी सियोनमध्ये जी दुष्कृत्ये केली, त्याचे परिणाम मी त्यांना भोगायला लावीन. यहूदा, तुझ्या लक्षात येईल, असे शासन मी त्यांना करीन.” असे परमेश्वर म्हणाला,

²⁴And I have recompensed to Babylon, And to all inhabitants of Chaldea, All the evil that they have done in Zion, Before your eyes — an affirmation of Jehovah.

²⁵परमेश्वर म्हणतो, “बाबेल तू एखाद्या विनाशकारी पर्वताप्रमाणे आहेस, आणि मी तुझ्याविरुद्ध आहे. तू सर्व देशाचा नाश केलास, आणि मला ते आवडले नाही. मी माझ्या हाताच्या बळाने तुला कड्यांवरुन लोटून देईन. आणि बेचिराख झालेल्या पर्वताप्रमाणे मी तुझी स्थिती करीन.

²⁵Lo, I [am] against thee, O destroying mount, An affirmation of Jehovah, That is destroying all the earth, And I have stretched out My hand against thee, And I have rolled thee from the rocks, And given thee for a burnt mountain.

²⁶इमारतींच्या पायासाठी लोक बाबेलमधून एकही दगड घेणार नाहीत. कोनाशिलेला लागणारा मोठा चिरा लोकांना मिळणार नाही. का? कारण तुमची नगरी म्हणजे पडीक दगडधोंड्यांचा कायमचा खच असेल.” परमेश्वराने हे सांगितले.

²⁶And they take not out of thee a stone for a corner, And a stone for foundations, For desolations age-during art thou, An affirmation of Jehovah.

²⁷“देशात युद्धाचे निशाण उभारा! सर्व राष्ट्रांमध्ये कर्णा फुंका. बाबेलविरुद्ध लढण्यासाठी राष्ट्रांना सज्ज करा. अरारात, मिन्नी, आष्कनाज या राज्यांना बाबेलवर चढाई करण्यासाठी बोलवा. तिच्याविरुद्ध लढणाऱ्या सैन्याच्या सेनापतीची निवड करा. टोळधाडीप्रमाणे घोडे पाठवा.

²⁷Lift ye up an ensign in the land, Blow a trumpet among nations, Sanctify against it nations, Summon against it the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashkenaz, Appoint against it an infant head, Cause the horse to ascend as the rough cankerworm.

²⁸बाबेलविरुद्ध लढण्यासाठी राष्ट्रांची सिद्धता करा. मेद्यांच्या राजांना सज्ज करा. त्यांच्या अधिपतींना आणि अधिकाऱ्यांना लढण्यासाठी तयार करा. बाबेलच्या अंमलाखालच्या सर्व देशांना बाबेलच्या विरुद्ध लढण्यास सिद्ध करा.

²⁸Sanctify against it the nations with the kings of Media, Its governors and all its prefects, And all the land of its dominion.

²⁹वेदना होत असल्याप्रमाणे भूमी कापते व हालते. बाबेलबद्दल परमेश्वराने ठरविलेला बेत परमेश्वराने सिद्धीस नेताच भूमी कंप पावेल. बाबेलचे निर्जन वाळवंटात रुपांतर करण्याचा देवाचा बेत आहे. तेथे कोणीही राहणार नाही.

²⁹And shake doth the land, and it is pained, For stood against Babylon have the purposes of Jehovah, To make the land of Babylon a desolation without inhabitant.

³⁰बाबेलच्या सैनिकांनी लढाई थांबवली आहे. ते त्यांच्या किल्ल्यांतच राहिले आहेत. त्यांची शक्ती संपली आहे ते बायकांप्रमाणे घाबरुन गेले आहेत. बाबेलमधील घरे जळत आहेत. तिच्या वेशीच्या दारांचे अडसर मोडले आहेत.

³⁰Ceased have the mighty of Babylon to fight, They have remained in strongholds, Failed hath their might, they have become woman, They have burnt her tabernacles, Broken have been her bars.

³¹Runner to meet runner doth run, And announcer to meet announcer, To announce to the king of Babylon, For, captured hath been his city — at the extremity.

³²And the passages have been captured, And the reeds they have burnt with fire, And the men of war have been troubled.

³³सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर, इस्राएलच्या लोकांचा देव म्हणतो, “बाबेल म्हणजे जणू काही खळे आहे. सुगीच्या वेळी लोक फोलकटापासून दाणे वेगळे करण्यासाठी धान्य झोडपतात आणि बाबेलला झोडपण्याची वेळ लवकरच येत आहे.”

³³For thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, The daughter of Babylon [is] as a threshing-floor, The time of her threshing — yet a little, And come hath the time of her harvest.

³⁴सियोनचे लोक म्हणतील, “बाबेलच्या राजा नबुखद्नेस्सरने पूर्वी आमचा नाश केला. पूर्वी त्याने आम्हाला दुखावले. त्याने आमचे लोक नेले, व त्यामुळे आमची स्थिती रिकाम्या रांजणासारखी झाली. आमच्याजवळचे जेवढे चांगले, तेवढे त्याने नेले, आणि आम्हाला दूर फेकून दिले. तो पोट भरेपर्यंत आम्हाला खाणाऱ्या एखाद्या प्रचंड राक्षसासारखा होता.

³⁴Devoured us, crushed us, hath Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, He hath set us [as] an empty vessel, He hath swallowed us as a dragon, He hath filled his belly with my dainties, He hath driven us away.

³⁵आम्हाला दुखविण्यासाठी बाबेलने भंयकर गोष्टी केल्या. आता त्याची परतफेड करण्याची आमची इच्छा आहे.” सियोन मध्ये राहणारे लोक असे म्हणाले. “आमच्या लोकांना मारण्याचा अपराध बाबेलच्या लोकांनी केला आहे. त्यांनी केलेल्या दुष्कृत्यांबद्दल त्यांना आता सजा मिळत आहे.” यरुशलेम नगरी अशी म्हणाली.

³⁵My wrong, and [that of] my flesh [is] on Babylon, Say doth the inhabitant of Zion, And my blood [is] on the inhabitants of Chaldea, Say doth Jerusalem.

³⁶म्हणून परमेश्वर म्हणतो, “यहूदा, मी तुझे रक्षण करीन. बाबेलला शिक्षा होईल ह्याची मी दक्षता घेईन. मी बाबेलचा समुद्र आटवीन आणि तिचे जलस्रोत सुकवून टाकीन.

³⁶Therefore, thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am pleading thy cause, And I have avenged thy vengeance, And dried up its sea, and made its fountains dry.

³⁷बाबेल म्हणजे पडक्या इमारतींची रास होईल. जंगली कुत्रेच तेथे राहतील. लोक ती दगडधोंड्यांची रास पाहून चकित होतील. बाबेलचा विचार त्यांच्या मनात येताच ते हळहळतील. बाबेल अगदी निर्जन होईल.

³⁷And Babylon hath been for heaps, A habitation of dragons, An astonishment, and a hissing, without inhabitant.

³⁸“बाबेलचे लोक गुरगुरणाऱ्या सिंहाच्या छाव्यासारखे आहेत. ते छाव्याप्रमाणे गुरगुरतात.

³⁸Together as young lions they roar, They have shaken themselves as lions` whelps.

³⁹ते शक्तिवान सिंहासारखे वागत आहेत. मी त्यांना मेजवानी देईन. मी त्यांना मद्य प्यायला लावीन. ते हसतील व मजा करतील. मग मात्र ते कायमचे झोपी जातील. ते पुन्हा कधीच उठणार नाहीत.” परमेश्वराने ह्या गोष्टी सांगितल्या.

³⁹In their heat I make their banquets, And I have caused them to drink, so that they exult, And have slept a sleep age-during, And awake not — an affirmation of Jehovah.

⁴⁰“बाबेल, मरणाची वाट पाहणाऱ्या शेळ्या, मेंढ्या, एडके ह्यांच्याप्रमाणे, असेल. मी त्यांना त्यांची कत्तल करण्यासाठी घेऊन जाईन.

⁴⁰I cause them to go down as lambs to slaughter, As rams with he-goats.

⁴¹“शेशखचा” पराभव होईल. सर्व जगातील अत्युत्तम व गर्विष्ठ देशाला कैदी बनवले जाईल. दुसऱ्या राष्ट्रांतील लोक बाबेलकडे पाहून भयभीत होतील. कारण बाबेलला उध्वस्त होताना त्यांनी पाहिले होते.

⁴¹How hath Sheshach been captured, Yea, caught is the praise of the whole earth, How hath Babylon been for an astonishment among nations.

⁴²समुद्र बाबेलवर पसरेल. त्याच्या गरजणाऱ्या लाटा बाबेलला झाकून टाकतील.

⁴²Come up against Babylon hath the sea, With a multitude of its billows it hath been covered.

⁴³बाबेलमधील गावांचा नाश होईल आणि ती ओसाड बनतील. बाबेल एक रुक्ष वाळवंट होईल. तो निर्जन होईल. लोक ह्या भूमीतून नुसता प्रवाससुध्दा करणार नाहीत.

⁴³Its cities have been for a desolation, A dry land, and a wilderness, A land — none doth dwell in them, Nor pass over into them doth a son of man.

⁴⁴बाबलेमधील बेल या दैवताला मी शिक्षा करीन. मी, त्यांने गिळलेल्यांना, त्याला ओकायला लावीन. बाबेलची तटबंदी पडेल, आणि इतर राष्ट्रे बाबेलकडे येणार नाहीत.

⁴⁴And I have seen after Bel in Babylon, And I have brought forth that which he swallowed — from his mouth, And flow no more unto him do nations, Also the wall of Babylon hath fallen.

⁴⁵माझ्या लोकांनो, बाबेलच्या शहरातून बाहेर या. जीव वाचविण्यासाठी पळा. परमेश्वराच्या कोपापासून दूर पळा.

⁴⁵Go forth from its midst, O My people, And deliver ye, each his soul, Because of the fierceness of the anger of Jehovah,

⁴⁶“माझ्या माणसांनो, भिऊ नका. अफवा पसरतील, पण घाबरु नका. एक अफवा ह्या वर्षी तर दुसरी पुढल्या वर्षी येईल. देशातील भयानक युध्दाबद्दल अफवा पसरतील. राजांच्या एकमेकांविरुद्ध चाललेच्या लढाईबद्दल वावड्या उठतील.

⁴⁶And lest your heart be tender, And ye be afraid of the report that is heard in the land, And come in a year hath the report, And after it in a year the report, And violence [is] in the land, ruler against ruler;

⁴⁷बाबेलच्या दैवतांना शिक्षा करण्याची व संपूर्ण बाबेल देशाला लज्जित होण्याची, वेळ नक्कीच येईल. त्या शहराच्या रस्त्यांवर खूप प्रेते पडलेली असतील.

⁴⁷Therefore, lo, days are coming, And I have seen after the graven images of Babylon. And all its land is ashamed, And all its pierced ones do fall in its midst.

⁴⁸मग आकाश व पृथ्वी जयघोष करील. कारण उत्तरेकडून बाबेलविरुद्ध लढण्यासाठी सैन्य येईल.” परमेश्वरच असे म्हणाला,

⁴⁸And cried aloud against Babylon Have heavens and earth, and all that [is] in them, For, from the north come to it do the spoilers, An affirmation of Jehovah.

⁴⁹“बाबेलने इस्राएलच्या लोकांना ठार केले. पृथ्वीवरच्या प्रत्येक प्रदेशातील लोकांना बाबेल देशाने ठार मारले. म्हणून बाबेलचे पतन झालेच पाहिजे.

⁴⁹Even Babylon [is] to fall, ye pierced of Israel, Even they of Babylon have fallen, Ye pierced of all the earth.

⁵⁰तुम्ही लोकांनी तलवारीला चुकविले. तुम्ही घाई करुन बाबेल सोडला पाहिजे. वाट पाहू नका. तुम्ही दूरदेशी आहात. पण तुम्ही जेथे आहात, तेथून परमेश्वराचे स्मरण करा, आणि यरुशलेमची आठवण ठेवा.

⁵⁰Ye escaped of the sword, go on, stand not, Remember ye from afar Jehovah, And let Jerusalem come up on your heart.

⁵¹“आम्ही, यहूदाचे लोक लज्जित झालो आहोत. आमचा अपमान झाला आहे. का? कारण परके परमेश्वराच्या मंदिरातील पवित्र ठिकाणी गेले आहेत.”

⁵¹We have been ashamed, for we heard reproach, Covered hath shame our faces, For come in have strangers, against the sanctuaries of the house of Jehovah.

⁵²परमेश्वर म्हणतो, “बाबेलमधील मूर्तींना शिक्षा करण्याची वेळ येत आहे. त्या वेळी, देशात सर्व ठिकाणी जखमी लोक यातनेने तळमळतील.

⁵²Therefore, lo, days are coming, An affirmation of Jehovah, And I have seen after its graven images, And in all its land groan doth the wounded.

⁵³कदाचित् बाबेल आकाशाला टेकेपर्यंत वाढली असती. बाबेलने आपले किल्ले मजबूत केले असते. पण मी तिच्याविरुद्ध लढण्यास माणसे पाठवीन, आणि ते तिचा नाश करतील.” परमेश्वर असे म्हणाला,

⁵³Because Babylon goeth up to the heavens, And because it fenceth the high place of its strength, From Me come into it do spoilers, An affirmation of Jehovah.

⁵⁴“बाबेलमध्ये लोक रडताना आपण ऐकू शकतो. लोक तेथील वस्तूंचा नाश करीत असल्याचे आपण ऐकतो.

⁵⁴A voice of a cry [is] from Babylon, And of great destruction from the land of the Chaldean.

⁵⁵लवकरच परमेश्वर बाबेलचा नाश करील. त्या शहरातील कोलाहल तो शांत करील. लाटांच्या गर्जनेप्रमाणे गर्जना करीत शत्रू येतील. आजूबाजूचे लोक त्या गर्जना ऐकतील.

⁵⁵For Jehovah is spoiling Babylon, And hath destroyed out of it a great voice, And sounded have its billows as many waters, Given forth a noise hath their voice.

⁵⁶सैन्य येईल व बाबेलचा नाश करील. बाबेलचे सैनिक पकडले जातील. त्यांची धनुष्ये मोडली जातील. का? कारण लोकांनी केलेल्या दुष्कृत्यांबद्दल परमेश्वर त्यांना शिक्षा करतो. त्यांच्या पात्रतेनुसार परमेश्वर त्यांना पूर्ण शिक्षा करतो.

⁵⁶For come in against it — against Babylon — hath a spoiler, And captured have been its mighty ones, Broken have been their bows, For the God of recompences — Jehovah — doth certainly repay.

⁵⁷बाबेलमधील ज्ञानी, महत्वाचे अधिकारी, राज्यपाल, इतर अधिकारी आणि सैनिक यांना मी मद्य पाजून झिंगायला भाग पाडीन. मग ते कायमचे झोपी जातील. परत कधीही उठणार नाहीत.” राजा असे म्हणाला. त्या राजाचे नाव सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर.

⁵⁷And I have caused its princes to drink, And its wise men, its governors, And its prefects, and its mighty ones, And they have slept a sleep age-during, And they awake not — an affirmation of the king, Jehovah of Hosts [is] His name.

⁵⁸सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर म्हणतो, “बाबेलची जाड मजबूत तटबंदी जमीनदोस्त केली जाईल. तिची उंच प्रवेशद्वारे जाळली जातील. बाबेलचे लोक खूप मेहनत करतील. पण त्याचा काही उपयोग होणार नाही. शहर वाचविण्याच्या प्रयत्नात ते पार दमून जातील. ते सरपणाप्रमाणे होतील.”

⁵⁸Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, the wall of Babylon — The broad one — is utterly made bare, And her high gates with fire are burnt, And peoples labour in vain, And nations in fire, and have been weary!

⁵⁹सारया ह्या अधिकाऱ्याला यिर्मयाने पुढील संदेश दिला. सारया नेरीयाचा मुलगा होय व नेरीया हा मासेयाचा मुलगा होय. यहूदाचा राजा सिद्कीया ह्याच्याबरोबर सारया, सिद्कीयाच्या कारकिर्दीच्या चौथ्या वर्षी, बाबेलला गेला. त्याच वेळी, सारयाला यिर्मयाने संदेश दिला.

⁵⁹The word that Jeremiah the prophet hath commanded Seraiah son of Neriah, son of Maaseiah, in his going with Zedekiah king of Judah to Babylon, in the fourth year of his reign — and Seraiah [is] a quiet prince;

⁶⁰यिर्मयाने बाबेलमध्ये घडून येणाऱ्या सर्व भयानक गोष्टी एका पटावर लिहिल्या होत्या.

⁶⁰and Jeremiah writeth all the evil that cometh unto Babylon on one book — all these words that are written concerning Babylon.

⁶¹यिर्मया सारयाला म्हणाला, “सारया, बाबेलला जा. सर्व लोक हा संदेश ऐकतील अशी खात्री करुन घेऊन तो वाच.

⁶¹And Jeremiah saith unto Seraiah, `When thou dost enter Babylon, then thou hast seen, and hast read all these words,

⁶²मग म्हण, ‘हे देवा, बाबेलचा नाश करीन असे तू म्हणालास, तू तिचा नाश करशील. मग तेथे कोणी मनुष्यप्राणी वा पशू राहणार नाही. ती जागा सदाकरिता ओसाड भग्नावशेष होईल.’

⁶²and hast said: Jehovah, Thou, Thou hast spoken concerning this place, to cut it off, that there is none dwelling in it, from man even unto cattle, for it is a desolation age-during.

⁶³हा संदेश वाचून संपताच पटाला एक दगड बांध. नंतर हा पट फरात नदीत फेकून दे.

⁶³And it hath come to pass, when thou dost finish reading this book, thou dost bind to it a stone, and hast cast it into the midst of Phrat,

⁶⁴मग असे म्हण ‘बाबेल बुडेल पुन्हा ती कधीही वर येणार नाही. कारण मी तिच्यावर भयंकर संकटे आणीन.’ आणि बाबेलचे लोक थकून जातील.” येथे यिर्मयाचे बोलणे संपले.

⁶⁴and said, Thus sink doth Babylon, and it doth not arise, because of the evil that I am bringing in against it, and they have been weary.` Hitherto [are] words of Jeremiah.
