¹खूप संकटे पाहिलेला मी एक माणूस आहे. परमेश्वराने आम्हाला काठीने मारताना मी प्रत्यक्ष पाहिले.

¹I [am] the man [who] hath seen affliction By the rod of His wrath.

²परमेश्वराने मला प्रकाशाकडे न नेता, अंधाराकडे नेले.

²Me He hath led, and causeth to go [in] darkness, and without light.

³परमेश्वराने त्याचा हात माझ्याविरुध्द केला. दिवसभर, त्याने आपला हात, पुन्हा पुन्हा, माझ्याविरुद्ध चालविला.

³Surely against me He turneth back, He turneth His hand all the day.

⁴त्यांने माझी त्वचा आणि मांस नष्ट केले आणि माझी हाडे मोडली.

⁴He hath worn out my flesh and my skin. He hath broken my bones.

⁵परमेश्वराने माझ्याभोवती दु:ख व त्रास ह्यांच्या भिंती उभारल्या. त्यांने दु:ख व त्रास माझ्याभोवती उभे केले.

⁵He hath built up against me, And setteth round poverty and weariness.

⁶त्याने मला अंधकारात बसायला लावले. माझी स्थिती एखाद्या मृताप्रमाणे केली.

⁶In dark places He hath caused me to dwell, As the dead of old.

⁷परमेश्वराने मला बंदिवान केल्यामुळे मी बाहेर येऊ शकलो नाही. त्याने मला मोठमोठ्या बेड्या घातल्या.

⁷He hath hedged me about, and I go not out, He hath made heavy my fetter.

⁸मी जेव्हा मदतीसाठी आक्रोश करतो, तेव्हासुध्दा परमेश्वर माझा धावा ऐकत नाही.

⁸Also when I call and cry out, He hath shut out my prayer.

⁹त्याने दगडधोड्यांनी माझ्या रस्त्यात अडथळा निर्माण केला आहे. त्याने माझा मार्ग वाकडा केला आहे.

⁹He hath hedged my ways with hewn work, My paths He hath made crooked.

¹⁰परमेश्वर, माझ्यावर हल्ला करण्यासाठी टपून बसलेल्या, अस्वलासारखा आहे. लपून बसलेल्या सिंहासारखा तो आहे.

¹⁰A bear lying in wait He [is] to me, A lion in secret hiding-places.

¹¹परमेश्वराने मला माझ्या मार्गावरुन दूर केले. माझे तुकडे तुकडे केले. माझा नाश केला.

¹¹My ways He is turning aside, and He pulleth me in pieces, He hath made me a desolation.

¹²त्याने त्याचे धनुष्य सज्ज केले. त्याने मला त्याच्या बाणांचे लक्ष्य बनविले.

¹²He hath trodden His bow, And setteth me up as a mark for an arrow.

¹³त्याने माझ्या पोटात बाणाने मारले.

¹³He hath caused to enter into my reins The sons of His quiver.

¹⁴मी माझ्या माणसांमध्ये चेष्टेचा विषय झालो. सर्व दिवसभर, ते मला उद्देशून गाणी गातात व माझी टर्र उडवितात.

¹⁴I have been a derision to all my people, Their song all the day.

¹⁵परमेश्वराने मला हे विष (शिक्षा) प्यायला दिले. हे कडू पेय त्याने मला भरपूर पाजले.

¹⁵He hath filled me with bitter things, He hath filled me [with] wormwood.

¹⁶परमेश्वराने मला दाताने खडे फोडायला लावले. मला धुळीत लोटले.

¹⁶And He breaketh with gravel my teeth, He hath covered me with ashes.

¹⁷मला पुन्हा कधीही शांती मिळणार नाही, असे मला वाटले. मी चांगल्या गोष्टी तर विसरलो.

¹⁷And Thou castest off from peace my soul, I have forgotten prosperity.

¹⁸मी मनाशी म्हणालो, “परमेश्वराच्या कृपेची मला मुळीच आशा नाही.”

¹⁸And I say, Perished hath my strength and my hope from Jehovah.

¹⁹परमेश्वरा, लक्षात ठेव. मी फार दु:खी आहे, व मला घर नाही. तू दिलेल्या कडू विषाचे (शिक्षेचे) स्मरण कर.

¹⁹Remember my affliction and my mourning, Wormwood and gall!

²⁰मला माझ्या सर्व त्रासांची आठवण आहे. म्हणूनच मी दु:खी आहे.

²⁰Remember well, and bow down doth my soul in me.

²¹पण मी पुढील काही गोष्टींचा विचार केला की मला आशा वाटते.

²¹This I turn to my heart — therefore I hope.

²²परमेश्वराच्या प्रेम व दयेला अंत नाही. परमेश्वराची करुणा चिरंतन आहे.

²²The kindnesses of Jehovah! For we have not been consumed, For not ended have His mercies.

²³ती प्रत्येक दिवशी नवीन, ताजी असते. परमेश्वरा, तुझी विश्वासार्हता महान आहे.

²³New every morning, abundant [is] thy faithfulness.

²⁴मी मनाशी म्हणतो, “परमेश्वर माझा देव आहे. म्हणूनच मला आशा वाटेल.”

²⁴My portion [is] Jehovah, hath my soul said, Therefore I hope for Him.

²⁵परमेश्वराची वाट पाहणाऱ्यांवर व त्याला शोधणाऱ्यांवर तो कृपा करतो.

²⁵Good [is] Jehovah to those waiting for Him, To the soul [that] seeketh Him.

²⁶परमेश्वराने आपले रक्षण करावे म्हणून मुकाट्याने वाट पाहणे केव्हाही चांगले.

²⁶Good! when one doth stay and stand still For the salvation of Jehovah.

²⁷परमेश्वराचे जोखड वाहणे केव्हाही बरेच. ते तरूणपणापासून वाहणे तर फारच चांगले.

²⁷Good for a man that he beareth a yoke in his youth.

²⁸परमेश्वर त्याचे जोखड मानेवर ठेवत असताना माणसाने मुकाट्याने एकटे बसावे.

²⁸He sitteth alone, and is silent, For He hath laid [it] upon him.

²⁹माणसाने परमेश्वरापुढे नतमस्तक व्हावे. कोणी सांगावे, अजूनही आशा असेल.

²⁹He putteth in the dust his mouth, if so be there is hope.

³⁰जो मणुष्य मारत असेल त्याला खुशाल गालात मारू द्यावे व तो अपमान सहन करूण घ्यावा.

³⁰He giveth to his smiter the cheek, He is filled with reproach.

³¹परमेश्वर लोकांकडे कायमची पाठ फिरवित नाही, हे माणसाने लक्षात ठेवावे.

³¹For the Lord doth not cast off to the age.

³²परमेश्वर जेव्हा शिक्षा करतो, तेव्हा तो दया पण दाखवितो. हा त्याचा दयाळूपणा त्याच्या जवळील महान प्रेम व थोर करुणा ह्यामुळे आहे.

³²For though He afflicted, yet He hath pitied, According to the abundance of His kindness.

³³लोकांना शिक्षा करण्याची देवाची इच्छा नसते. लोकांना दु:ख द्यायला त्याला आवडत नाही.

³³For He hath not afflicted with His heart, Nor doth He grieve the sons of men.

³⁴परमेश्वराला ह्या गोष्टी पसंत नाहीत. पृथ्वीवरील सर्व बंदिवानांना कोणीतरी पायाखाली तुडविणे, त्याला आवडत नाही.

³⁴To bruise under one`s feet any bound ones of earth,

³⁵एका माणसाने दुसऱ्याशी अन्यायाने वागणे त्याला पसंत नाही. पण काही लोक अशा वाईट गोष्टी सर्वश्रेष्ठ ईश्वारासमक्ष करतात.

³⁵To turn aside the judgment of a man, Over-against the face of the Most High,

³⁶एका व्यक्तिने दुसऱ्या व्यक्तिला फसविणे परमेश्वराला आवडत नाही. ह्या अशा गोष्टी परमेश्वराला अजिबात पसंत नाहीत.

³⁶To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord hath not approved.

³⁷परमेश्वराच्या आज्ञेशिवाय, कोणी काहीही बोलावे आणि ते घडून यावे असे होऊ शकत नाही.

³⁷Who [is] this — he hath said, and it is, [And] the Lord hath not commanded [it]?

³⁸सर्वश्रेष्ठ देवच इष्ट वा अनिष्ट घडण्याची आज्ञा देतो.

³⁸From the mouth of the Most High Go not forth the evils and the good.

³⁹एखाद्याच्या पापांबद्दल परमेश्वराने त्याला शिक्षा केल्यास तो माणूस तक्रार करू शकत नाही.

³⁹What — sigh habitually doth a living man, A man for his sin?

⁴⁰आपण आपली कर्मे पाहू या आणि तपासू या व नंतर परमेश्वराकडे परत जाऊ या.

⁴⁰We search our ways, and investigate, And turn back unto Jehovah.

⁴¹स्वर्गातील परमेश्वराकडे आपण आपले हृदय व हात उंचावू या.

⁴¹We lift up our heart on the hands unto God in the heavens.

⁴²आपण त्याला म्हणू या, “आम्ही पाप केले, आम्ही हट्टीपणा केला. म्हणूनच तू आम्हाला क्षमा केली नाहीस.

⁴²We — we have transgressed and rebelled, Thou — Thou hast not forgiven.

⁴³तू क्रोधाविष्ट झालास आमचा पाठलाग केलास आणि दया न दाखविता आम्हाला ठार केलेस.

⁴³Thou hast covered Thyself with anger, And dost pursue us; Thou hast slain — Thou hast not pitied.

⁴⁴कोणतीही प्रार्थना तुझ्यापर्यंत पोहोचू नये म्हणून तू स्वत:ला अभ्रांनी वेढून घेतलेस.

⁴⁴Thou hast covered Thyself with a cloud, So that prayer doth not pass through.

⁴⁵दुसऱ्या राष्ट्रांसमोर तू आम्हाला कचरा व धूळ ह्यासारखे केलेस.

⁴⁵Offscouring and refuse Thou dost make us In the midst of the peoples.

⁴⁶आमचे सर्व शत्रू आम्हाला रागाने बोलतात.

⁴⁶Opened against us their mouth have all our enemies.

⁴⁷आम्ही घाबरलो आहोत. आम्ही गर्तेत पडलो आहोत. आम्ही अतिशय जखमी झालो आहोत. आम्ही मोडून पडलो आहोत.”

⁴⁷Fear and a snare hath been for us, Desolation and destruction.

⁴⁸माझ्या लोकांचा झालेला नाश पाहून मी रडते. माझ्या डोळयांना धारा लागल्या आहेत.

⁴⁸Rivulets of water go down my eye, For the destruction of the daughter of my people.

⁴⁹माझे डोळे गळतच राहतील, मी रडतच राहीन.

⁴⁹Mine eye is poured out, And doth not cease without intermission,

⁵⁰परमेश्वरा, तू आपली नजर खाली वळवून आमच्याकडे पाही पर्यंत मी रडतच राहीन. तू स्वर्गातून आमच्याकडे लक्ष देईपर्यंत मी शोक करीन.

⁵⁰Till Jehovah looketh and seeth from the heavens,

⁵¹माझ्या नगरातील सर्व मुलींची स्थिती पाहून माझे डोळे मला दु:खी करतात.

⁵¹My eye affecteth my soul, Because of all the daughters of my city.

⁵²निष्कारण शत्रू बनलेल्या लोकांनी पाखरासारखी माझी शिकार केली आहे.

⁵²Hunted me sore as a bird have my enemies without cause.

⁵³मी जिवंत असताना त्यांनी मला खड्ड्यात लोटले आणि माझ्यावर दगड टाकले.

⁵³They have cut off in a pit my life, And they cast a stone against me.

⁵⁴माझ्या डोक्यावरुन पाणी गेले. मी मनाशी म्हणालो, “आता सर्व संपले.”

⁵⁴Flowed have waters over my head, I have said, I have been cut off.

⁵⁵परमेश्रा मी तुझ्या नांवाने हाक मारली परमेश्वरा, खड्ड्यातून तुझ्या नांवाचा धावा केला.

⁵⁵I called Thy name, O Jehovah, from the lower pit.

⁵⁶तू माझा आवाज ऐकलास. तू तुझ्या कानावर हात ठेवले नाहीस. माझी सुटका करण्याचे तू नाकारले नाहीस.

⁵⁶My voice Thou hast heard, Hide not Thine ear at my breathing — at my cry.

⁵⁷मी धावा करताच तू आलास. तू मला म्हणालास, “घाबरू नकोस.”

⁵⁷Thou hast drawn near in the day I call Thee, Thou hast said, Fear not.

⁵⁸परमेश्वरा, तू माझे रक्षण केलेस तू मला पुनर्जीवन दिलेस.

⁵⁸Thou hast pleaded, O Lord, the pleadings of my soul, Thou hast redeemed my life.

⁵⁹परमेश्वरा, तू माझा त्रास पाहिला आहेस. आता मला न्याय दे.

⁵⁹Thou hast seen, O Jehovah, my overthrow, Judge Thou my cause.

⁶⁰माझ्या शत्रूंनी मला कसे दुखविले आणि माझ्याविरुद्ध कसे कट रचले ते तू पाहिले आहेस.

⁶⁰Thou hast seen all their vengeance, All their thoughts of me.

⁶¹त्या शत्रूंनी केलेला माझा अपमान आणि माझ्याविरुध्द आखलेले बेत तू. परमेश्वरा, ऐकले आहेस.

⁶¹Thou hast heard their reproach, O Jehovah, All their thoughts against me,

⁶²सर्व काळ, शंत्रूचे बोलणे व विचार माझ्या विरुध्द आहेत.

⁶²The lips of my withstanders, Even their meditation against me all the day.

⁶³परमेश्वरा, बसता उठता ते माझी कशी खिल्ली उडवितातत ते पाहा.

⁶³Their sitting down, and their rising up, Behold attentively, I [am] their song.

⁶⁴परमेश्वरा, त्यांना योग्य ते फळ दे. त्यांच्या कार्मांची परत फेड कर.

⁶⁴Thou returnest to them the deed, O Jehovah, According to the work of their hands.

⁶⁵त्यांचे मन कठोर कर. नंतर त्यांना शाप दे.

⁶⁵Thou givest to them a covered heart, Thy curse to them.

⁶⁶क्रोधाने त्यांचा पाठलाग कर व त्यांचा नाश कर. ह्या आकाशाखाली, परमेश्वरा, त्यांचा नाश कर.

⁶⁶Thou pursuest in anger, and destroyest them, From under the heavens of Jehovah!
