¹मी अस्वस्थ झालो आहे कारण माझी स्थिती गोळा केलेल्या फळासारखी आणि अगोदरच द्राक्षे तोडल्यामुळे खाण्यासाठी द्राक्षे शिल्लक नाहीत तशी झाली आहे. खाण्यासाठी द्राक्षे शिल्लक नाहीत. मला आवडणारी पहिल्या बहराची अंजिरे अजिबात नाहीत.

¹My wo [is] to me, for I have been As gatherings of summer-fruit, As gleanings of harvest, There is no cluster to eat, The first-ripe fruit desired hath my soul.

²ह्याचाच अर्थ, सर्व प्रामाणिक लोक गेलेत. ह्या देशात चांगले लोक उरले नाहीत. प्रत्येकजण कोणाला तरी ठार मारण्यासाठी टपला आहे. प्रत्येकजण आपल्या भावाला सापळ्यात अडकविण्याच्या प्रयत्नात आहे.

²Perished hath the kind out of the land, And upright among men — there are none, All of them for blood lie in wait, Each his brother they hunt [with] a net.

³लोक दोन्ही दोन्ही हातांनी दुष्कृत्ये करण्यात पटाईत आहेत. अधिकारी लाच मागतात. न्यायालयातील निकाल बदलण्यासाठी न्यायाधीश पैसे घेतात. “मोठे नेते” चांगले आणि न्याय निर्णय घेत नाहीत. ते मनात येईल ते करतात.

³On the evil [are] both hands to do [it] well, The prince is asking — also the judge — for recompence, And the great — he is speaking the mischief of his soul, And they wrap it up.

⁴त्यांच्यातील अतिशय चांगलाही काटेरी झुडुपाप्रमाणे आहे. ते गुंत्तागुंत असलेल्या कोटेरी झुडुपापेक्षा वाकडा (कपटी) आहे. हा दिवस येईल असे तुमच्या संदेष्ट्यांनी सांगितले होते. तो तुमच्या पहारेकऱ्यांनी सांगितलेला दिवस आला आहे. आता तुम्हाला शिक्षा होईल. तुमचा गोधंळ उडेल.

⁴Their best one [is] as a brier, The upright one — than a thorn-hedge, The day of thy watchmen — Thy visitation — hath come. Now is their perplexity.

⁵तुमच्या शेजाऱ्यांवर विश्वास ठेवू नका. मित्रावरही विश्वासून राहू नका. तुमच्या पत्नीशीसुध्दा मनमोकळे बोलू नका.

⁵Believe not in a friend, trust not in a leader, From her who is lying in thy bosom keep the openings of thy mouth.

⁶स्वत:च्या घरातील माणसेच वैरी होतील. मुलगा वडिलांना मान देणार नाही. मुलगी आईविरुध्द जाईल. सून सासूच्या विरोधात जाईल.

⁶For a son is dishonouring a father, A daughter hath stood against her mother, A daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law, The enemies of each [are] the men of his house.

⁷म्हणून मी मदतीसाठी परमेश्वराकडे पाहतो. परमेश्वराने माझे रक्षण करावे म्हणून मी वाट पाहतो. माझा परमेश्वर माझे ऐकेल.

⁷And I — in Jehovah I do watch, I do wait for the God of my salvation, Hear me doth my God.

⁸मी पडलो आहे. पण शत्रूंनो, मला हसू नका. मी पुन्हा उठेन आता मी अंधारात बसतोय पण परमेश्वरच माझा प्रकाश होईल.

⁸Thou dost not rejoice over me, O mine enemy, When I have fallen, I have risen, When I sit in darkness Jehovah is a light to me.

⁹The indignation of Jehovah I do bear, For I have sinned against Him, Till that He doth plead my cause, And hath executed my judgment, He doth bring me forth to the light, I look on His righteousness.

¹⁰माझा शत्रू मला म्हणाला: “तुझा देव परमेश्वर कोठे आहे?” पण माझा शत्रू ही पाहील आणि तो लज्जित होईल. त्यावेळी मी तिला हसेन. रस्त्यातील चिखलावरुन चालावे. तसे लोक त्याला तुडवीत चालतील.

¹⁰And see doth mine enemy, And cover her doth shame, Who saith unto me, `Where [is] Jehovah thy God?` Mine eyes do look on her, Now she is for a treading-place, As mire of the out-places.

¹¹तुमचे तट परत बांधण्याची वेळ येईल. त्या वेळेला, देशाचा विस्तार होईल.

¹¹The day to build thy walls! That day — removed is the limit.

¹²तुमचे लोक तुमच्या देशात परत येतील. ते अश्शूर आणि मिसरमधील गावे येथून परततील. ते मिसरमधून व फरात नदीच्या पैलतीरावरुन येतील. पश्चिमेकडच्या समुद्राकडून आणि पूर्वेच्या पर्वतांतून ते येतील.

¹²That day — even unto thee it doth come in, From Asshur and the cities of the fortress, And from the fortress even unto the river, And from sea to sea, and mount to mount.

¹³देशात राहणाऱ्या लोकांमुळे व त्यांच्या कृत्यांमुळे देशाचा नाश झाला आहे.

¹³And the land hath been for a desolation, Because of its inhabitants, Because of the fruit of their doings.

¹⁴म्हणून तुझ्या दंडाने लोकांवर राज्य कर. तुझ्या मालकीच्या लोकांच्या समुदायावर राज्य कर. तो लोकांचा समुदाय एकटाच रानात आणि कर्मेल पर्वतावर राहतो. पूर्वीप्रमाणेच तो बाशान व गिलाद यांच्यामध्ये रातो.

¹⁴Rule Thou Thy people with Thy rod, The flock of Thine inheritance, Dwelling alone [in] a forest in the midst of Carmel, They enjoy Bashan and Gilead as in days of old.

¹⁵तुम्हाला मिसरमधून बाहेर आणताना मी खूप चमत्कार केले. त्यांच्यासारखे आणखी चमत्कार मी तुम्हाला दाखवीन.

¹⁵According to the days of thy coming forth out of the land of Egypt, I do shew it wonderful things.

¹⁶राष्ट्रे ते चमत्कार पाहून लज्जित होतील. माझ्या तुलनेत त्यांची “शक्ती” काहीच नाही, हे त्यांना दिसेल. ते विस्मयचकित होतील आणि आश्चर्याने तोंडावर हात ठेवतील. कान झाकून घेऊन ते ऐकण्याचे नाकारतील.

¹⁶See do nations, and they are ashamed of all their might, They lay a hand on the mouth, their ears are deaf.

¹⁷ते सापाप्रमाणे मातीत सरपटतील. भीतीने थरथर कापतील. जमिनीत राहणाऱ्या किड्यांप्रमाणे आपल्या बिळातून प्रभूकडे, आपल्या परमेश्वराकडे, यायला लागतील. हे परमेश्वरा, ते तुला घाबरतील आणि मान देतील.

¹⁷They lick dust as a serpent, as fearful things of earth, They tremble from their enclosures, Of Jehovah our God they are afraid, Yea, they are afraid of Thee.

¹⁸परमेश्वरा तुझ्यासारखा दुसरा देव नाही. पापी लोकांनाही तू क्षमा करतोस. तुझ्या वाचलेल्या लोकांनाही तू क्षमा करतोस. परमेश्वर अनंतकाळ क्रोधाविष्ट राहणारा नाही. का? कारण त्याला दयाळू व्हायला आवडते.

¹⁸Who [is] a God like Thee? taking away iniquity, And passing by the transgression of the remnant of His inheritance, He hath not retained for ever His anger, Because He — He delighteth [in] kindness.

¹⁹तो परत येईल व आमचे सांत्वन करील. तो आमच्या पापांचा चुराडा करील आणि आमची पापे खोल समुद्रात फेकून देईल.

¹⁹He doth turn back, He pitieth us, He doth subdue our iniquities, And Thou castest into the depths of the sea all their sins.

²⁰हे देवा, याकोबशी प्रामाणिक राहा. अब्रहामबद्दल तुला असलेले खरे प्रेम दाखव. फार पूर्वी तू आमच्या पूर्वजांना दिलेले वचन पाळ.

²⁰Thou givest truth to Jacob, kindness to Abraham, That thou hast sworn to our fathers, from the days of antiquity!
