1मुला, माझी शिकवण विसरु नकोस. मी तुला ज्या गोष्टी करायला सांगतो त्या लक्षात ठेव.
1My son! my law forget not, And my commands let thy heart keep,
2मी तुला ज्या गोष्टी करायला सांगतो त्या तुला अधिक दीर्घ आणि अधिक सुखी आयुष्य देतील.
2For length of days and years, Life and peace they do add to thee.
3प्रेम करणे कधी सोडू नकोस. नेहमी इमानदार आणि प्रामाणिक राहा. या गोष्टी तुझाच एक घटक बनव. त्यांना तुझ्या मानेभोवती बांध. त्या गोष्टी तुझ्या हृदयावर कोर.
3Let not kindness and truth forsake thee, Bind them on thy neck, Write them on the tablet of thy heart,
4म्हणजे तू शहाणा होशील व देवाला व लोकांना तुझ्याबद्दल आनंद वाटेल.
4And find grace and good understanding In the eyes of God and man.
5परमेश्वरावर संपूर्ण विश्वास ठेव. तुझ्या स्वत:च्या ज्ञानावर अवलंबून राहू नकोस.
5Trust unto Jehovah with all thy heart, And unto thine own understanding lean not.
6तू जी प्रत्येक गोष्ट करशील ती करताना देवाचा विचार कर. म्हणजे तो तुला मदत करील.
6In all thy ways know thou Him, And He doth make straight thy paths.
7तुझ्या स्वत:च्या शहाणपणावर अवलंबून राहू नकोस. पण परमेश्वराला मान दे आणि वाईट गोष्टींपासून दूर राहा.
7Be not wise in thine own eyes, Fear Jehovah, and turn aside from evil.
8तू जर हे केलेस तर ते तुझ्या शरीराला औषधाप्रमाणे बरे करील किंवा पेयाप्रमाणे तुझ्या हाडांना ताजेतवाने करील.
8Healing it is to thy navel, And moistening to thy bones.
9तुझ्या संपत्तीने परमेश्वराला मान दे. तुझ्या जवळच्या सर्वांत चांगल्या गोष्टी त्याला दे.
9Honour Jehovah from thy substance, And from the beginning of all thine increase;
10नंतर तुझ्या सर्व गरजा पूर्ण होतील. तुझे कोठार धान्याने भरेल. आणि तुझी पिंपे द्राक्षारसाने भरुन वाहातील.
10And filled are thy barns [with] plenty, And [with] new wine thy presses break forth.
11मुला, परमेश्वर तुला कधी कधी तू चूक करीत आहेस हे दाखवून देईल. पण या शिक्षेमुळे तू रागावू नकोस. त्यापासून शिकायचा प्रयत्न कर.
11Chastisement of Jehovah, my son, despise not, And be not vexed with His reproof,
12का? कारण परमेश्वर ज्यांच्यावर प्रेम करतो त्यांनाच सुधारतो. होय, मुलावर प्रेम करणाऱ्या व त्याला शिक्षा करणाऱ्या बापासारखा देव आहे.
12For whom Jehovah loveth He reproveth, Even as a father the son He is pleased with.
13ज्या माणसाला ज्ञान मिळेल तो खूप सुखी होईल. त्याला जेव्हा समजायला लागते तेव्हाच त्याला आशीर्वाद मिळतात.
13O the happiness of a man [who] hath found wisdom, And of a man [who] bringeth forth understanding.
14ज्ञानामुळे जे लाभ होतात ते रुप्यापेक्षा चांगले आहेत. ज्ञानापासून मिळणारे लाभ उत्कृष्ट सोन्यापेक्षा चांगले आहेत.
14For better [is] her merchandise Than the merchandise of silver, And than gold — her increase.
15ज्ञान रत्नांपेक्षा अधिक मौल्यावान आहे. तुम्ही त्यांची अपेक्षा कराल त्यापैकी कोणतीही गोष्ट ज्ञानाइतकी मौल्यवान असणार नाही.
15Precious she [is] above rubies, And all thy pleasures are not comparable to her.
16ज्ञान तुम्हाला मोठे आयुष्य संपत्ती आणि मानसन्मान देते.
16Length of days [is] in her right hand, In her left [are] wealth and honour.
17ज्ञान असलेले लोक शांतीत आणि समाधानात जगतात.
17Her ways [are] ways of pleasantness, And all her paths [are] peace.
18ज्ञान जीवनाच्या वृक्षाप्रमाणे आहे. जे लोक त्याचा स्वीकार करतात त्यांना संपूर्ण आयुष्य लाभते. जे लोक ज्ञान धारण करतात ते खरोखरच सुखी होतात.
18A tree of life she [is] to those laying hold on her, And whoso is retaining her [is] happy.
19परमेश्वराने पृथ्वी निर्माण करण्यासाठी ज्ञानाचा वापर केला. परमेश्वराने आकाश निर्माण करण्यासाठी ज्ञान वापरले.
19Jehovah by wisdom did found the earth, He prepared the heavens by understanding.
20परमेश्वराने समुद्र निर्माण करण्यासाठी त्याचे ज्ञान वापरले. आणि पावसाचे ढग तयार करण्यासाठी ज्ञान वापरले.
20By His knowledge depths have been rent, And clouds do drop dew.
21मुला, तुझे ज्ञान आणि समज ही नेहमी सांभाळून ठेव. या गोष्टी सोडू नकोस.
21My son! let them not turn from thine eyes, Keep thou wisdom and thoughtfulness,
22ज्ञान आणि समज तुला जीवन देतील. आणि ते अधिक सुंदर करतील.
22And they are life to thy soul, and grace to thy neck.
23नंतर तू सुरक्षिततेचे जीवन जगशील आणि कधीही पडणार नाहीस.
23Then thou goest thy way confidently, And thy foot doth not stumble.
24तू जेव्हा झोपशील तेव्हा घाबरणार नाहीस. तू विश्रांती घेशील तेव्हा तुझी झोप शांत असेल.
24If thou liest down, thou art not afraid, Yea, thou hast lain down, And sweet hath been thy sleep.

25Be not afraid of sudden fear, And of the desolation of the wicked when it cometh.

26For Jehovah is at thy side, And He hath kept thy foot from capture.
27जेव्हा शक्य होईल तेव्हा ज्यांना मदतीची गरज असते त्यांच्यासाठी चांगली गोष्ट करा.
27Withhold not good from its owners, When thy hand [is] toward God to do [it].
28जर तुमच्या शेजाऱ्याने काही मागितले आणि ते तुमच्याजवळ असले तर त्याला ते लगेच द्या. “त्याला उद्या यायला सांगू नका.”
28Say not thou to thy friend, `Go, and return, and to-morrow I give,` And substance with thee.
29तुमचा शेजारी विश्वासाने तुमच्याजवळ राहातो तेव्हा शेजाऱ्याला त्रास देण्याच्या योजना आखू नका. तुम्ही स्वत:च्या सुरक्षिततेसाठी एकमेकांच्या जवळ राहता.
29Devise not against thy neighbour evil, And he sitting confidently with thee.

30Strive not with a man without cause, If he have not done thee evil.

31Be not envious of a man of violence, Nor fix thou on any of his ways.
32का? कारण परमेश्वर वाईट लोकांचा तिरस्कार करतो. परंतु परमेश्वर चांगल्या लोकांचा पाठीराखा असतो.
32For an abomination to Jehovah [is] the perverted, And with the upright [is] His secret counsel.
33परमेश्वर वाईट लोकांच्या कुटुंबाविरुध्द असतो. परंतु जे लोक योग्य रीतीने जगतात त्यांच्या कुटुंबांना तो आशीर्वाद देतो.
33The curse of Jehovah [is] in the house of the wicked. And the habitation of the righteous He blesseth.
34जर एखादा माणूस गर्विष्ठ असला आणि दुसऱ्यांची चेष्टा करत असला तर परमेश्वर त्याला शिक्षा करील आणि त्याची चेष्टा करील. पण परमेश्वर नम्र लोकांशी दयाळू असतो.
34If the scorners He doth scorn, Yet to the humble He doth give grace.
35शहाणे लोक सन्मान प्राप्त होईल असे जीवन जगतात परंतु मूर्ख लोक लाज वाटण्यासारखे जीवन जगतात.
35Honour do the wise inherit, And fools are bearing away shame!
