1ऐक, ज्ञान आणि समजूतदारपणा तुला तू एकावेस म्हणून तुला बोलावत आहेत.
1Doth not wisdom call? And understanding give forth her voice?
2ते टेकडीच्या माथ्यावर जिथे रस्ते मिळतात, तिथे उभे आहेत.
2At the head of high places by the way, Between the paths she hath stood,
3ते शहराच्या दरवाजाशी आहेत. ते उघड्या दरवाजातून बोलावत आहेत.
3At the side of the gates, at the mouth of the city, The entrance of the openings, she crieth aloud,
4ज्ञान (रुपी स्त्री) म्हणते, “लोक हो! मी तुम्हाला बोलावत आहे. मी सगळ्या लोकांना बोलावत आहे.
4`Unto you, O men, I call, And my voice [is] unto the sons of men.
5तुम्ही जर मूर्ख असाल, तर शहाणे व्हायला शिका. मूर्ख माणसांनो समजून घ्यायला शिका.
5Understand, ye simple ones, prudence, And ye fools, understand the heart,
6लक्ष द्या! ज्या गोष्टी शिकवतो त्या महत्वाच्या आहेत. मी तुम्हाला फक्त योग्य असलेल्या गोष्टीच सांगतो.
6Hearken, for noble things I speak, And the opening of my lips [is] uprightness.
7माझे शब्द खरे आहेत. मला वाईटाचा, खोट्याचा तिरस्कार वाटतो.
7For truth doth my mouth utter, And an abomination to my lips [is] wickedness.
8मी ज्या गोष्टी सांगतो त्या न्याय्य आहेत. माझ्या शब्दांत काहीही चुकीचे अथवा खोटे नाही.
8In righteousness [are] all the sayings of my mouth, Nothing in them is froward and perverse.
9जो माणूस समजूतदार आहे त्याला या गोष्टी स्पष्ट दिसतात. ज्ञानी माणूस या गोष्टी समजू शकतो.
9All of them [are] plain to the intelligent, And upright to those finding knowledge.
10माझ्या शिस्तीचा स्वीकार करा. ती रुप्यापेक्षाही मौल्यवान आहे. ती शुध्द सोन्यापेक्षाही मौल्यावान आहे.
10Receive my instruction, and not silver, And knowledge rather than choice gold.
11ज्ञान मोत्यापेक्षा, अधिक मौल्यवान आहे. ते माणसाला हव्या असलेल्या कुठल्याही गोष्टीपेक्षा मौल्यवान आहे.”
11For better [is] wisdom than rubies, Yea, all delights are not comparable with it.
12“मी ज्ञान आहे. मी चांगल्या न्यायाने जगते. तुम्ही मला ज्ञानाबरोबर आणि चांगल्या योजनांबरोबर पाहू शकता.
12I, wisdom, have dwelt with prudence, And a knowledge of devices I find out.
13जर एखादा माणूस परमेश्वराला मान देत असला तर तो वाईटाचा तिरस्कार करेल. मी (ज्ञान) गर्वाचा आणि जे लोक इतरांपेक्षा स्वत:ला मोठे समजतात अशा लोकांचा तिरस्कार करते. मी वाईट मार्ग आणि खोटे बोलणाऱ्या तोंडांचा तिरस्कार करते.
13The fear of Jehovah [is] to hate evil; Pride, and arrogance, and an evil way, And a froward mouth, I have hated.
14परंतु मी लोकांना योग्य निर्णय घेण्याचे सामर्थ्य देते आणि योग्य चांगला न्याय देते. मी समजूतदारपणा आणि शक्ती देते.
14Mine [is] counsel and substance, I [am] understanding, I have might.
15राजे राज्य करताना माझा उपयोग करतात. राज्यकर्ते चांगले कायदे करण्यासाठी माझा उपयोग करतात.
15By me kings reign, and princes decree righteousness,
16प्रत्येक चांगला राज्यकर्ता त्याच्या अंमलाखाली असलेल्या लोकांवर राज्य करण्यासाठी माझा उपयोग करुन घेतो.
16By me do chiefs rule, and nobles, All judges of the earth.
17मी (ज्ञान), माझ्यावर जे प्रेम करतात त्यांच्यावर प्रेम करते. आणि जे लोक मला शोधायचा खूप प्रयत्न करतात त्यांना मी हटकून सापडते.
17I love those loving me, And those seeking me earnestly do find me.
18माझ्याजवळही देण्यासाठी श्रीमंती आणि मानमरातब आहेत. मी खरी संपत्ती आणि यश देते.
18Wealth and honour [are] with me, Lasting substance and righteousness.
19मी ज्या गोष्टी देते त्या शुध्द सोन्यापेक्षा चांगल्या असतात. आणि माझे नजराणे शुद्ध चांदीपेक्षा चांगले असतात.
19Better [is] my fruit than gold, even fine gold, And mine increase than choice silver.
20मी लोकांना योग्य मार्गावर आणते. मी तयांना योग्य न्यायाच्या मार्गाने नेते.
20In a path of righteousness I cause to walk, In midst of paths of judgment,
21जे माझ्यावर प्रेम करतात त्यांना मी संपत्ती देते. होय, मी त्यांची घरे खजिन्यांनी भरुन टाकीन.
21To cause my lovers to inherit substance, Yea, their treasures I fill.
22खूप पूर्वी सुरुवातीला परमेश्वराने प्रथम माझीच निर्मिती केली.
22Jehovah possessed me — the beginning of His way, Before His works since then.
23आरंभीला मला निर्माण केले गेले. जगाची सुरुवात होण्यापूर्वी मी निर्माण झाले.
23From the age I was anointed, from the first, From former states of the earth.
24महासागराच्या आधी माझा जन्म झाला. पाणी उत्पन्न होण्या आधी मी होते.
24In there being no depths, I was brought forth, In there being no fountains heavy [with] waters,
25पर्वतांच्या आधी माझा (ज्ञानाचा) जन्म झाला. डोंगरांच्या आधी माझा जन्म झाला.
25Before mountains were sunk, Before heights, I was brought forth.
26परमेश्वराने पृथ्वी निर्माण करण्याआधीच मी जन्मले. शेतांच्या आधी माझा जन्म झाला. देवाने पृथ्वीवरची पहिली धूळ निर्माण करण्याआधीच माझा जन्म झाला होता.
26While He had not made the earth, and out-places, And the top of the dusts of the world.
27परमेश्वराने आकाशाची निर्मिती केली तेव्हा मी तिथे होते. परमेश्वराने कोरड्या भूमीभोवती सीमा आखण्यासाठी वर्तूळ काढले तेव्हा मी तिथे होते. त्याने सागराला सीमित केले तेव्हा मी तिथे होते.
27In His preparing the heavens I [am] there, In His decreeing a circle on the face of the deep,
28परमेश्वराने आकाशात ढग ठेवण्याआधी माझा जन्म झाला. आणि परमेश्वराने समुद्रात पाणी ठेवले तेव्हाही मी तिथे होते.
28In His strengthening clouds above, In His making strong fountains of the deep,
29परमेश्वराने सागराच्या पाण्याला सीमाबध्द केले तेव्हा ही मी होते. पाणी परमेश्वराच्या संमती शिवाय चढू शकत नाही. परमेश्वराने पृथ्वीचा पाया घातला तेव्हा मी तिथे होते.
29In His setting for the sea its limit, And the waters transgress not His command, In His decreeing the foundations of earth,
30एखाद्या कसलेल्या कामगारासारखी मी त्याच्या बाजूला होते. माझ्यामुळे परमेश्वर रोज आनंदी असे. मी त्याचा आनंद होते.
30Then I am near Him, a workman, And I am a delight — day by day. Rejoicing before Him at all times,
31त्याने निर्माण केलेल्या जगाविषयी परमेश्वर उत्सुक होता. तो तिथे निर्माण केलेल्या लोकांबद्दल आनंदी होता.
31Rejoicing in the habitable part of His earth, And my delights [are] with the sons of men.
32“मुलांनो, आता माझे ऐका, जर तुम्ही माझा मार्ग अनुसरला तर तुम्हीही आनंदी व्हाल.
32And now, ye sons, hearken to me, Yea, happy are they who keep my ways.
33माझी शिकवण ऐका आणि शहाणे व्हा. ऐकायला नकार देऊ नका.
33Hear instruction, and be wise, and slight not.
34जो माझे ऐकतो तो सुखी होतो. तो रोज माझ्या दारावर पाहारा देतो. तो माझ्या दाराजवळ थांबतो.
34O the happiness of the man hearkening to me, To watch at my doors day by day, To watch at the door-posts of my entrance.
35ज्या माणसाला मी सापडते. त्याला जीवन सापडते. त्याला परमेश्वराकडून चांगल्या गोष्टी मिळतील.
35For whoso is finding me, hath found life, And bringeth out good-will from Jehovah.
36पण जो माझ्याविरुध्द पाप करतो तो स्वत:लाच इजा करुन घेतो. जे लोक माझा तिरस्कार करतात ते मरणाला कवटाळतात.”
36And whoso is missing me, is wronging his soul, All hating me have loved death!
