1सर्व इस्राएल लोक हेब्रोन येथे दावीदाकडे जमले. ते त्याला म्हणाले, “आम्ही तुझे भाऊबंद आहोत, तुझ्याच रक्तामांसाचे आहोत.
1Then all Israel gathered themselves to David to Hebron, saying, “Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.
2पूर्वी लढाईत तू आमचे नेतृत्व केले आहेस. शौल राजा असतानाही तू ते केले आहेस. परमेश्वर तुला म्हणाला, ‘दावीदा, तू माझ्या इस्राएल लोकांचा मेंढपाळ होशील. माझ्या लोकांचे नेतृत्व करशील.”‘
2In times past, even when Saul was king, it was you who led out and brought in Israel. Yahweh your God said to you, ‘You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over my people Israel.’”
3इस्राएल लोकांमधील सर्व वडीलधारी मंडळी दावीद राजाकडे हेब्रोन येथे आली. परमेश्वरासमोर दावीदाने त्यांच्याशी करार केला. तेव्हा त्या पुढाऱ्यांनी दावीदास अभिषेक केला. आता दावीद इस्राएलाचा राजा झाला. शमुवेल मार्फत परमेश्वराने असे होणार असे वचन दिले होते.
3So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Yahweh; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of Yahweh by Samuel.
4सर्व इस्राएल लोकांबरोबर दावीद यरुशलेम नगराकडे गेला. यरुशलेमला त्याकाळी यबूस असे म्हणत असत; आणि तेथे राहणाऱ्यांना यबूसी. ते नगरवासी
4David and all Israel went to Jerusalem (the same is Jebus); and the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, were there.
5दावीदाला म्हणाले, “तू आमच्या नगरात पाऊल टाकू शकणार नाहीस.” तरीही दावीदाने त्यांचा पाडाव केलाच. दावीदाने सियोनचा किल्ला घेतला. यालाच दावीदानगर हे नाव पडले.
5The inhabitants of Jebus said to David, “You shall not come in here.” Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion. The same is the city of David.
6दावीद म्हणाला, “यबूसी लोकांवरील हल्ल्याचे जो नेतृत्व करील तो माझा सेनापती होईल.” यवाबने हे नेतृत्व केले. हा सरुवेचा मुलगा. यवाब सेनापती झाला.
6David said, “Whoever strikes the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain.” Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first, and was made chief.
7दावीदाने किल्ल्यातच आपला मुक्काम केला म्हणून त्याला दावीद नगर नाव पडले.
7David lived in the stronghold; therefore they called it the city of David.
8या किल्ल्याभोवती दावीदाने नगराची उभारणी केली. मिल्लो पासून नगराच्या तटबंदीपर्यंत त्याने ते बांधले. जेथे पडझड झाली होती तिथे दुरुस्ती केली.
8He built the city all around, from Millo even around; and Joab repaired the rest of the city.
9दावीदाच्या मोठेपणात भर पडत गेली. सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर त्याच्या बाजूचा होता.
9David grew greater and greater; for Yahweh of Armies was with him.
10दावीदाच्या, खास सैनिकांच्या पुढाऱ्यांची नावे या यादीत आहेत. दावीदाच्या राज्यात त्यांचेही बळ वाढले. त्यांनी आणि समस्त इस्राएल लोकांनी दावीदाला पाठिंबा दिला आणि त्याला राजा केले. देवाने कबूल केल्याप्रमाणेच हे घडले.
10Now these are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who showed themselves strong with him in his kingdom, together with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of Yahweh concerning Israel.
11दावीदाकडील खास सैनिकांची नावे अशी : याशबाम हखमोनी. हा रथचालकांचा प्रमुख होता. याशबाम एकावेळी तीनशे जणांना आपल्या भाल्याने ठार करु शकत असे.
11This is the number of the mighty men whom David had: Jashobeam, the son of a Hachmonite, the chief of the thirty; he lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them at one time.
12त्यानंतर दोदय अहोही याचा मुलगा एलाजार. एलाजार तिघा पराक्रमींपैकी एक होता.
12After him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighty men.
13पसदम्मीम येथे हा दावीदाबरोबर होता. पलिष्टे त्या ठिकाणी लढायला आले होते. तेथे शेतात जवाचे पीक उभे होते. इस्राएल लोक तेव्हा पळून गेले.
13He was with David at Pasdammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where there was a plot of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines.
14पण तीन शूर वीर तिथेच पाय रोवून उभे राहिले आणि त्यांनी बचाव करायचा प्रयत्न केला. पलिष्ट्यांचा त्यांनी पराभव केला. परमेवराने इस्राएल लोकांना मोठा विजय मिळवून दिला.
14They stood in the midst of the plot, and defended it, and killed the Philistines; and Yahweh saved them by a great victory.
15एकदा, दावीद अदुल्लामच्या गुहेत होता. पलिष्ट्यांचे सैन्य तिथून खाली रेफाईमच्या खोऱ्यात होते. त्यावेळी तीस वीरापैकी तिघेजण गुहेत असलेल्या दावीदाकडे जायला जमिनीवरुन सरपटत रांगत निघाले.
15Three of the thirty chief men went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the army of the Philistines were encamped in the valley of Rephaim.
16आणखी एकदा दावीद किल्ल्यांत असताना पलिष्ट्यांचे सैन्य बेथलहेममध्ये होते.
16David was then in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem.
17तेव्हा आपल्या गावचे पाणी प्यावे असे दावीदाला फार वाटले. तो म्हणाला, “बेथलहेमच्या वेशीजवळ विहीर आहे तिच्यातले पाणी मला कोणी आणून दिले तर किती बरे होईल.” त्याला पाणी हवे होते असे नाही पण तरी तो हे म्हणाला.
17David longed, and said, “Oh that one would give me water to drink of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!”
18यावर त्या तिघांनी पलिष्ट्यांच्या छावणीतून मोठ्या हिकमतीने वाट काढली, बेथलहेमच्या वेशीजवळच्या विहिरीतील पाणी काढले आणि ते त्या तिघांनी दावीदाला आणून दिले. दावीदाने ते पाणी प्यायला नकार दिला. त्याने ते जमिनीवर ओतून परमेश्वराला अर्पण केले.
18The three broke through the army of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but David would not drink of it, but poured it out to Yahweh,
19दावीद म्हणाला, “देवा, हे पाणी मी कसे पिऊ? हे मी प्यायलो तर ते इथपर्यंत आणायला ज्यांनी आपला जीव धोक्यात घातला त्यांचे रक्तच प्यायल्यासारखे होईल.” त्याने ते पाणी न प्यायचे कारण हे होय. त्या तीन शूरांनी असे बरेच पराक्रम केले.
19and said, “My God forbid it me, that I should do this! Shall I drink the blood of these men who have put their lives in jeopardy?” For they risked their lives to bring it. Therefore he would not drink it. The three mighty men did these things.
20यवाबचा भाऊ अबीशय हा या तिघांचा प्रमुख होता. त्याने आपल्या भाल्याने तीनशे जणांचा प्रतिकार केला आणि त्यांना ठार केले. अबीशय त्या तिघांएवढाच प्रसिध्द होता.
20Abishai, the brother of Joab, he was chief of the three; for he lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them, and had a name among the three.
21त्या तीन शूरांपेक्षा जास्त याने नाव कमावले. तो त्या तिघामधला नसला तरी त्यांचा नायक झाला.
21Of the three, he was more honorable than the two, and was made their captain: however he didn’t attain to the three.
22यहोयादा हा एका बलाढ्य माणसाचा मुलगा होता. यहोयादाचा मुलगा बनाया. हा कबसेल येथला होता. बनायाने खूप पराक्रम केले. मवाबातील दोन अग्रगण्य माणसांना त्याने ठार केले. एकदा बर्फ पडत असताना गुहेत शिरुन त्याने सिंहाचा वध केला.
22Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done mighty deeds, he killed the two sons of Ariel of Moab: he went down also and killed a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow.
23मिसरच्या एका मजबूत सैनिकालाही त्याने मारले. हा सैनिक साडेसात फूट उंचीचा होता. त्याच्याजवळ चांगला लांब आणि भक्कम भाला होता. विणकराच्या मागावरील तुळईएवढा हा भाला होता. बनायाजवळ फक्त गदा होती. बनायाने त्या सैनिकाच्या हातून भाला हिसकावून घेतला आणि त्यानेच त्या मिसर सैनिकाला ठार केले.
23He killed an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high; and in the Egyptian’s hand was a spear like a weaver’s beam; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and killed him with his own spear.
24यहोयादाचा मुलगा बनाया याने असे बरेच पराक्रम केले. तीन शूरांप्रमाणेच त्याने नाव मिळवले.
24Benaiah the son of Jehoiada did these things, and had a name among the three mighty men.
25तीस शूरांपेक्षा बनायाचा बोलबाला जास्त झाला. पण तो त्या तिघांपैकी नव्हता. दावीदाने बनायाला आपल्या अंगरक्षकांचे प्रमुख म्हणून नेमले.
25Behold, he was more honorable than the thirty, but he didn’t attain to the three: and David set him over his guard.
26सैन्यातील शूर सैनिक (तीस वीर) पुढीलप्रमाणे: यवाबचा भाऊ असाएल, बेथलेहेमच्या दोदोचा मुलगा एलहानान,
26Also the mighty men of the armies: Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,
27हरोरी शम्मोथ, हेलस पलोनी,
27Shammoth the Harorite, Helez the Pelonite,
28तकोइच्या इक्केशचा मुलगा ईरा, अनाथोथचा अबियेजेर
28Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abiezer the Anathothite,
29शिब्बखाय हूशाथी, ईलाय अहोही,
29Sibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite,
30महरय नटोफाथी, बाना नटोफाथी याचा मुलगा हेलेद,
30Maharai the Netophathite, Heled the son of Baanah the Netophathite,
31बन्यामीनांच्या संतानांमधला गिबोथकर रीबय याचा मुलगा इत्तय, बनाया पिराथोनी,
31Ithai the son of Ribai of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin, Benaiah the Pirathonite,

39Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Berothite, the armor bearer of Joab the son of Zeruiah,

42Adina the son of Shiza the Reubenite, a chief of the Reubenites, and thirty with him,
43माकाचा मुलगा हानान आणि योशाफाट मिथनी,
43Hanan the son of Maacah, and Joshaphat the Mithnite,
44उज्जीया अष्टराथी, होथाम अरोएरी याचे मुलगे शामा ईयेल
44Uzzia the Ashterathite, Shama and Jeiel the sons of Hotham the Aroerite,
45शिम्रीचा यदीएल योहा तीसी आणि त्याचा भाऊ योहा
45Jediael the son of Shimri, and Joha his brother, the Tizite,
46अलीएल महवी व एलानामचे मुलगे यरीबय आणि योशव्या व इथ्मा मवाबी,
46Eliel the Mahavite, and Jeribai, and Joshaviah, the sons of Elnaam, and Ithmah the Moabite,
47अलीएल, ओबेद न यासीएल मसोबायी.
47Eliel, and Obed, and Jaasiel the Mezobaite.
