¹शेम, हाम व याफेथ ह्मा नोहाच्या तीन मुलांना जलप्रलयानंतर पुष्कळ मुलगे झाले; त्यांची वंशावळ येणे प्रमाणे: याफेथाचे वंशज

¹Now this is the history of the generations of the sons of Noah and of Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Sons were born to them after the flood.

²याफेथाचे मुलगे; गोमर, मागोग, मादय, यावान, तुबाल, मेशेख व तीरास हे होते.

²The sons of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.

³गोमरचे मुलगे; आष्कनाझ, रीपाथ व तोगार्मा, हे होते.

³The sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.

⁴यावानाचे मुलगे; अलीशा, तार्शीश, कित्तीम व दोदानीम.

⁴The sons of Javan: Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.

⁵भूमध्यासमुद्रच्या किनाऱ्याच्या आसपास जी राष्ट्रे झाली ती सर्व याफेथाच्या संततीपासून होती; प्रत्येक मुलाला स्वत:ची जमीन होती ही सर्व कुळे वाढत गेली व त्यांची वेगवेगळी राष्ट्रे झाली. प्रत्येक राष्ट्राची भाषा वेगळी होती.

⁵Of these were the islands of the nations divided in their lands, everyone after his language, after their families, in their nations.

⁶हामचे मुलगे याप्रमाणे होते: कूश, मिस्राईम, पूट व कनान

⁶The sons of Ham: Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.

⁷कुशाचे मुलगे: सबा, हवीला, साब्ता, रामा, व साव्तका; आणि रामाचे मुलगे शबा व ददान हे होते.

⁷The sons of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan.

⁸कुशाला निम्रोद नावाचा मुलगा होता, तो पृथ्वीवर महाबलवान व पराक्रमी असा वीरपुरुष होता.

⁸Cush became the father of Nimrod. He began to be a mighty one in the earth.

⁹तो परमेश्वरापुढे बलवान शिकारी झाला म्हणून इतर माणसांची निम्रोदाशी तुलना करुन “तो माणूस, परमेश्वरासमोर बलवान निम्रोद शिकाऱ्यासारखा आहे” असे म्हणण्याची प्रथा आहे.

⁹He was a mighty hunter before Yahweh. Therefore it is said, “Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before Yahweh.”

¹⁰शिनार प्रांतातील बाबेल, एरक, अक्काद व कालहने ही निम्रोदाच्या राज्यातील सुरवातीची शहरे होती.

¹⁰The beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

¹¹तेथून तो अश्शुरालाही गेला व तेथे त्याने निनवे, रहोबोथ, ईरकालह व रेसन ही शहरे वसवली

¹¹Out of that land he went into Assyria, and built Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir, Calah,

¹²(रेसन हे शहर, निनवे व मोठे शहर कालह यांच्या दरम्यान आहे.)

¹²and Resen between Nineveh and Calah (the same is the great city).

¹³मिस्राईम याला लूद, अनामीन, लहाकीम, नाप्तुहीम

¹³Mizraim became the father of Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, Naphtuhim,

¹⁴पात्रुस कास्लूह व कप्तोरी हे मुलगे झाले. कास्लूहपासून पलिष्टी लोक आले.

¹⁴Pathrusim, Casluhim (which the Philistines descended from), and Caphtorim.

¹⁵कनानाचा पहिला मुलगा सीदोन हा होता; कनान हा हेथचाही बाप होता. कनानापासून उदयास आलेली राष्ट्रे,

¹⁵Canaan became the father of Sidon (his firstborn), Heth,

¹⁶यबूसी, अमोरी, गिर्गाशी,

¹⁶the Jebusite, the Amorite, the Girgashite,

¹⁷हिव्वी, आकर्ी, शीनी

¹⁷the Hivite, the Arkite, the Sinite,

¹⁸अर्वादी, समारी व हमाथी ही होती. पुढे कनानाची कुळे जगाच्या वेगवेगळ्या भागात पसरली.

¹⁸the Arvadite, the Zemarite, and the Hamathite. Afterward the families of the Canaanites were spread abroad.

¹⁹कनान्यांची सीमा उत्तरे कडील सीदोनापासून दक्षिणेकडील गरारापर्यंत व पश्चिमेकडील गाजापासून तर पूर्वेस सदोम व गमोरा पर्यंत तसेच आदमा पासून व सबोईम पासून व लेशापर्यंत पसरली होती.

¹⁹The border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as you go toward Gerar, to Gaza; as you go toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, to Lasha.

²⁰ही सर्व हाम याची वंशजे होती; हया सर्व वंशजांना स्वत:ची भाषा व देश होते; ती सर्व वेगवेगळी राष्ट्रे झाली.

²⁰These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their languages, in their lands, in their nations.

²¹शेम हा याफेथाचा वडील भाऊ होता. एबर हा शेम यांचा वंशज होता. तो इब्री लोकांचा मुळ पुरुष होता.

²¹To Shem, the father of all the children of Eber, the elder brother of Japheth, to him also were children born.

²²शेम याचे मुलगे; एलाम, अश्शूर, अर्पक्षद, लूद व अराम;

²²The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram.

²³अरामाचे मुलगे: ऊस, हूल, गेतेर व मश हे होते;

²³The sons of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.

²⁴अर्पक्षदास शेलह झाला, शेलहास एबर झाला:

²⁴Arpachshad became the father of Shelah. Shelah became the father of Eber.

²⁵एबर यास दोन मुलगे झाले; एकाचे नाव पेलेग होते. पेलेग म्हणजे वाटणी; कारण याच्याच हयातीत पृथ्वीची वाटणी झाली; त्याच्या भावाचे नाव यक्तान होते.

²⁵To Eber were born two sons. The name of the one was Peleg, for in his days the earth was divided. His brother’s name was Joktan.

²⁶यक्तानास अलमोदाद, शेलेफ, हसर्मावेथ, येरह,

²⁶Joktan became the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,

²⁷हदोराम, ऊजाल, दिक्ला

²⁷Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,

²⁸ओबाल, अबीमाएल, शबा,

²⁸Obal, Abimael, Sheba,

²⁹ओफीर, हवीला व योबाब असे मुलगे झाले; हे सगळे यक्तानाचे मुलगे;

²⁹Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these were the sons of Joktan.

³⁰ते मेशापासून पूर्वेकड़ील डोंगराळ भागात राहात होते. मेशा सफारच्या देशाकडे होते.

³⁰Their dwelling was from Mesha, as you go toward Sephar, the mountain of the east.

³¹हे शेमाचे वंशज होते. कुळे, भाषा, देश व राष्ट्रे याप्रमाणे त्यांची विभागणी अशी आहे.

³¹These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their languages, in their lands, after their nations.

³²ही नोहाच्या मुलांची व त्यांच्या वंशजांची, पिढ्या व कुळाप्राणे यादी आहे; त्यांच्या राष्ट्रांप्रमाणे ती आखलेली आहे; जलप्रलयानंतर त्यांची पृथ्वीवर वेगवेगळी राष्ट्रे झाली.
