¹शोमरोनकडे पाहा. एफ्राइममधील मद्यप्यांना त्या शहराचा फार गर्व आहे. आजूबाजूला सुपीक दरी असलेल्या टेकडीवर ते शहर वसले आहे. शोमरोनमधील रहिवाशांना आपले शहर फुलांच्या सुंदर मुकुटाप्रमाणे वाटते. पण ते मद्यपान करून धुंद झाले आहेत आणि हा “सुंदर मुकुट” सुकून चालला आहे.

¹Woe to the crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fertile valley of those who are overcome with wine!

²पाहा! माझ्या प्रभूकडे एक सशक्त व शूर वीर आहे. तो गारपिटीप्रमाणे व पावसाच्या झडीप्रमाणे येईल. वादळाप्रमाणे किंवा महापुराप्रमाणे तो या देशात येईल आणि हा मुकुट (शोमरोन) धुळीत फेकून देईल.

²Behold, the Lord has a mighty and strong one. Like a storm of hail, a destroying storm, and like a storm of mighty waters overflowing, he will cast them down to the earth with his hand.

³एफ्राइममधील मद्याप्यांना “सुंदर मुकुटाप्रमाणे” असलेल्या त्यांच्या शहराचा अभिमान आहे, पण ते शहर पायाखाली तुडविले जाईल.

³The crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim will be trodden under foot.

⁴सभोवती सुपीक दरी असलेल्या टेकडीवर ते शहर वसले आहे. पण तो “सुंदर फुलांचा मुकुट” सुकत चालला आहे. उन्हाळ्यात झाडावर प्रथम आलेल्या अंजिरांप्रमाणे ह्या शहराची स्थिती होईल. जेव्हा माणूस झाडांवर अंजिरे पाहतो तेव्हा तो त्यांपैकी एक तोडतो आणि खाऊन टाकतो.

⁴The fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fertile valley, shall be like the first-ripe fig before the summer; which someone picks and eats as soon as he sees it.

⁵त्या वेळेला, सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर स्वत: “सुंदर फुलांचा मुकुट” होईल. जे काही देवाला अनुसरणारे लोक म्हणजेच देवाचे लोक मागे उरले असतील, त्यांच्याकरिता देव “सुंदर फुलांचा मुकुट” होईल.

⁵In that day, Yahweh of Armies will become a crown of glory, and a diadem of beauty, to the residue of his people;

⁶परमेश्वर, त्याच्या लोकांवर राज्य करणाऱ्या न्यायाधीशांना सद्बुध्दी देईल. वेशीपाशी लढणाऱ्या लोकांना परमेश्वर सामर्थ्य देईल.

⁶and a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment, and strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.

⁷पण सध्या ते नेते मद्याने धुंद झाले आहेत. याजक व संदेष्टे सर्वच जण द्राक्षरस व मद्य पिऊन धुंद झाले आहेत. ते अडखळून पडतात. संदेष्टे आपली स्वप्ने पाहताना मद्याच्या नशेत असतात. न्यायधीश न्यायनिवाडा करताना मद्याच्या धुंदीत असतात.

⁷They also reel with wine, and stagger with strong drink. The priest and the prophet reel with strong drink. They are swallowed up by wine. They stagger with strong drink. They err in vision. They stumble in judgment.

⁸सर्व मेज ओकारीने भरलेले आहेत. कोठेही स्वच्छ जागा राहिलेली नाही.

⁸For all tables are completely full of filthy vomit and filthiness.

⁹लोकांना धडा शिकविण्याचा परमेश्वर प्रयत्न करीत आहे. त्याची शिकवण लोकांच्या लक्षात यावी म्हणून तो प्रयत्नशील आहे. पण लोक परवा परवापर्यंत आईचे दूध पिणाऱ्या तान्ह्या मुलांप्रमाणे वागतात;

⁹Whom will he teach knowledge? To whom will he explain the message? Those who are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts?

¹⁰म्हणून परमेश्वर लहान बाळांशी बोलावे तसा त्यांच्याशी बोलतो. एक हुकूम इकडे, एक हूकूम तिकडे; एक नियम इकडे, एक नियम तिकडे, एक धडा इकडे, एक धडा तिकडे.

¹⁰For it is precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little.

¹¹परमेश्वर ह्या लोकांशी वेगळ्याच पध्दतीने बोलेल किंवा त्यांच्याशी वेगळ्याच भाषेचा वापर करील.

¹¹But he will speak to this nation with stammering lips and in another language;

¹²पूर्वीच्या काळी, देव लोकांना म्हणाला, “येथे विश्रांतीची जागा आहे. ही शांत जागा आहे. थकलेल्यांना येथे येऊन विश्रांती घेऊ द्या. ही शांतीची जागा आहे.” पण लोकांनी देवाचे ऐकले नाही.

¹²to whom he said, “This is the resting place. Give rest to weary”; and “This is the refreshing”; yet they would not hear.

¹³लोकांना देवाचे बोलणे परक्या भाषेसारखे अनाकलनीय वाटले. एक हुकूम इकडे, एक हुकूम तिकडे, एक नियम इकडे, एक नियम तिकडे, एक धडा इकडे; एक धडा तिकडे. लोकांनी स्वत:ला पाहिजे ते केले. म्हणून ते मागे पडून पराभूत झाले, ते सापळ्यात अडकले आणि पकडले गेले.

¹³Therefore the word of Yahweh will be to them precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little; that they may go, fall backward, be broken, be snared, and be taken.

¹⁴यरूशलेमच्या नेत्यांनो, तुम्ही परमेश्वराचा संदेश ऐकावा पण सध्या तुम्ही त्याचे ऐकायचे नाकारता.

¹⁴Therefore hear the word of Yahweh, you scoffers, that rule this people in Jerusalem:

¹⁵तुम्ही लोक म्हणता, “आम्ही मृत्यूबरोबर करारनामा केला आहे. अधोलोकाशी आम्ही करार केला आहे म्हणून आम्हांला शिक्षा होणार नाही. शिक्षा आमचे काही वाकडे करू शकणार नाही. कारण आम्ही कपट व असत्य याच्यांमागे लपून बसू.”

¹⁵“Because you have said, ‘We have made a covenant with death, and with Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. are we in agreement. When the overflowing scourge passes through, it won’t come to us; for we have made lies our refuge, and we have hidden ourselves under falsehood.’”

¹⁶यासाठी परमेश्वर, माझा प्रभू म्हणतो, “सियोनमध्ये मी कोनशिला बसवीन. हा एक अमूल्य दगड असेल. ह्या महत्वाच्या दगडावर सर्व बांधकाम उभारले जाईल. त्याच्यावर विश्वास ठेवणाऱ्या लोकांची निराशा होणार नाही.

¹⁶Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh, “Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone of a sure foundation. He who believes shall not act hastily.

¹⁷“भिंतीचा सरळपणा पाहण्यासाठी लोक जसा ओळंबा वापरतात, तसाच योग्य गोष्ट दाखविण्यासाठी मी न्यायबुध्दी व चांगुलपणा ह्यांचा वापर करीन. “तुम्ही पापी, तुमच्या कपटाच्या व असत्याच्या मागे लपण्याचा प्रयत्न करता, पण तुम्हांला शिक्षा होईल. मी वादळाप्रमाणे अथवा पुराप्रमाणे येऊन तुमच्या लपायच्या जागा नष्ट करीन.

¹⁷I will make justice the measuring line, and righteousness the plumb line. The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters will overflow the hiding place.

¹⁸तुमचा मृत्यूशी असलेला करारनामा पुसला जाईल. अधोलोकाशी तुमचा झालेला करार तुम्हांला उपयोगी पडणार नाही. “कोणीतरी येईल आणि तुम्हाला शिक्षा करील. तुमचा कचरा करून तुम्हाला पायाखाली तुडवील.

¹⁸Your covenant with death shall be annulled, and your agreement with Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. shall not stand. When the overflowing scourge passes through, then you will be trampled down by it.

¹⁹तो माणूस येऊन तुम्हाला घेऊन जाईल. तुमची शिक्षा भयंकर असेल. ती सकाळी सुरू होईल व रात्री उशिरापर्यंत चालू राहील.

¹⁹As often as it passes through, it will seize you; for morning by morning it will pass through, by day and by night; and it will be nothing but terror to understand the message.”

²⁰“मग तुम्हांला पुढील कथा समजेल. एक माणूस त्याच्या उंचीच्या मानाने खूपच आखूड असलेल्या अंथरूणावर झोपायचा प्रयत्न करत होता. त्याचे पांघरूणसुध्दा त्याला पूर्ण पणे पांघरता येईल इतपत रूंद नव्हते. त्याचे अंथरूण आणि पांघरूण दोन्ही निरूपयोगी होती. अगदी त्याप्रमाणे तुमचे करार निरूपयोगी ठरलेले आहेत.”

²⁰For the bed is too short to stretch out on, and the blanket is too narrow to wrap oneself in.

²¹परासीम डोंगरावरच्या प्रमाणे परमेश्वर लढाई करील. गीबोन दरीत ज्याप्रमाणे तो रागावला होता त्याप्रमाणे तो रागावेल. नंतर परमेश्वर त्याला पाहिजे ते घडवून आणील. तो काही विलक्षण गोष्टी करील, पण तो त्याचे काम तडीस नेईल. परमेश्वराचे कार्य अगाध आहे.

²¹For Yahweh will rise up as on Mount Perazim. He will be angry as in the valley of Gibeon; that he may do his work, his unusual work, and bring to pass his act, his extraordinary act.

²²आता तुम्ही त्या गोष्टीविरूध्द लढू नका. लढलात तर तुमच्या भोवतीची फास अधिक आवळला जाईल. मी ऐकलेल्या शब्दांत फरक होणार नाही. सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वराच्या, पृथ्वीच्या नियंत्याच्या, तोंडचे हे शब्द आहेत म्हणून त्या गोष्टी घडून येतीलच.

²²Now therefore don’t be scoffers, lest your bonds be made strong; for I have heard a decree of destruction from the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, on the whole earth.

²³मी सांगत असलेला संदेश लक्षपूर्वक ऐका.

²³Give ear, and hear my voice! Listen, and hear my speech!

²⁴शेतकरी सतत शेत नांगरतो का? नाही. तो सतत मशागत करतो का? नाही.

²⁴Does he who plows to sow plow continually? Does he keep turning the soil and breaking the clods?

²⁵तो जमिनीची मशागत करतो आणि मग पेरणी करतो. तो निरनिराळ्या बियांची पेरणी निरनिराळ्या तऱ्हेने करतो. तो बडिशेप विखरून टाकतो, जिरे शेतात फेकतो तर गहू ओळीत पेरतो. तो सातू विशिष्ट जागेत पेरतो तर शेताच्याकडेला काठ्या गहू पेरतो.

²⁵When he has leveled its surface, doesn’t he plant the dill, and scatter the cumin seed, and put in the wheat in rows, the barley in the appointed place, and the spelt in its place?

²⁶तुम्हाला शिकविण्यासाठी आमचा देव उदाहरणे देत आहे. ह्यावरून दिसून येईल की देव विवेकबुध्दीने लोकांना शिक्षा करतो.

²⁶For his God instructs him in right judgment, and teaches him.

²⁷मोठ्या दातेरी फळीने शेतकरी बडिशेप मळतो का? नाही. मोहरी मळण्यासाठी शेतकरी त्यावरून गाडीचे चाक फिरवितो का? नाही. शेतकरी बडिशेप व मोहरी मळण्यासाठी लहान काठी वापरतो.

²⁷For the dill are not threshed with a sharp instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned over the cumin; but the dill is beaten out with a stick, and the cumin with a rod.

²⁸पाव करताना बाई पीठ मळते पण सारखी सारखी ते तिंबत नाही. परमेश्वर लोकांना शिक्षा करताना असेच करतो. तो गाडीचे चाक अंगावर घालण्याची त्यांना भीती दाखविल पण पूर्णपणे चिरडून टाकणार नाही. तो घोड्यांच्या टापांखाली त्यांना तुडवू देणार नाही.

²⁸Bread flour must be ground; so he will not always be threshing it. Although he drives the wheel of his threshing cart over it, his horses don’t grind it.

²⁹हा धडा सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वराने स्वत: दिला आहे. देव चांगलाच सल्ला देतो. तो खरोखरच ज्ञानी आहे.

²⁹This also comes forth from Yahweh of Armies, who is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in wisdom.
