¹ह्या वेळेस, हिज्कीया फार आजारी पडला. जवळ जवळ तो मेलाच होता. अमोजचा मुलगा यशया हा संदेष्टा त्याला भेटायला गेला. यशया राजाला म्हणाला, “परमेश्वराने मला तुला सांगायला सांगितले आहे ‘तू लवकरच मरशील, म्हणून तू गेल्यावर तुझ्या घरातील लोकांनी काय करावे हे तू त्यांना सांगावेस. तू ह्या आजारातून उठणार नाहीस.”‘

¹In those days was Hezekiah sick and near death. Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, came to him, and said to him, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘Set your house in order, for you will die, and not live.’”

²हिज्कीया मंदिराच्या दिशेला वळला आणि त्याने प्रार्थना करण्यास सुरवात केली. तो म्हणाला,

⁵“हिज्कीयाकडे जाऊन त्याला सांग परमेश्वर, तुझ्या पूर्वजाचा, दाविदाचा, देव म्हणतो, ‘मी तुझी प्रार्थना ऐकली आणि तुझे दु:खाश्रू पाहिले, मी तुझ्या आयुष्यात पंधरा वर्षे वाढवीन.

⁵“Go, and tell Hezekiah, ‘Thus says Yahweh, the God of David your father, “I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. Behold, I will add fifteen years to your life.

⁶मी अश्शूराच्या राजापासून तुझा व ह्या शहराचा बचाव करीन.”‘ 22पण हिज्कीयाने यशयाला विचारले, “मी बरा होईन ह्याची खात्री पटण्यासाठी परमेश्वराचा संकेत काय असेल? मी परमेश्वराच्या मंदिरात जाण्यायोग्य होईन हे कसे ओळखायचे?”

⁸Behold, I will cause the shadow on the sundial, which has gone down on the sundial of Ahaz with the sun, to return backward ten steps. So the sun returned ten steps on the sundial on which it had gone down.”’”

⁹आजारातून उठल्यावर हिज्कीयाने लिहिलेले हे पत्र:

⁹The writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick, and had recovered of his sickness.

¹⁰मी म्हातारा होईपर्यंत जगावे असे मीच स्वत:शी म्हटले होते. पण अधोलोकाच्या दारातून जाण्याची माझी वेळ आली, आता मला सर्व काळ तेथेच काढावा लागेल असे मला वाटते.

¹⁰I said, “In the middle of my life I go into the gates of Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. . I am deprived of the residue of my years.”

¹¹म्हणून मी म्हणालो, “मी याह परमेश्वराला जिवंतांच्या भूमीवर यापुढे कधी पाहणार नाही. मी पृथ्वीवर राहणाऱ्या लोकांना पाहणार नाही.

¹¹I said, “I won’t see Yah, Yah in the land of the living. I will see man no more with the inhabitants of the world.

¹²माझे घर, माझा मेंढपाळाचा तंबू जमीनदोस्त केला जात आहे आणि माझ्यापासून हिसकावून घेतला गेला. जसे मागावरचे कापड कापून त्याची गुंडाळी केली जाते, तसा मी संपलो आहे. तू माझे आयुष्य अल्प काळातच संपविलेस.

¹²My dwelling is removed, and is carried away from me like a shepherd’s tent. I have rolled up, like a weaver, my life. He will cut me off from the loom. From day even to night you will make an end of me.

¹³सबंध रात्रभर मी सिंहगर्जनेप्रमाणे मोठमोठयाने रडलो. सिंहाने हाडेसुध्दा खाऊन नष्ट करावीत तशा माझ्या आशा नष्ट झाल्या. तू माझे आयुष्य फार लवकर संपविलेस.

¹³I waited patiently until morning. He breaks all my bones like a lion. From day even to night you will make an end of me.

¹⁴मी कबुतराप्रमाणे घुमलो, पक्ष्याप्रमाणे कलकललो, माझे डोळे थकले, तरीही मी स्वर्गाकडे बघत राहिलो. माझ्या प्रभू, मी खूप निराश झालो आहे. मला मदत करशील असे वचन दे.”

¹⁴I chattered like a swallow or a crane. I moaned like a dove. My eyes weaken looking upward. Lord, I am oppressed. Be my security.”

¹⁶Lord, men live by these things; and my spirit finds life in all of them: you restore me, and cause me to live.

¹⁷Behold, for peace I had great anguish, but you have in love for my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption; for you have cast all my sins behind your back.

¹⁸मृत तुझी स्तुतिस्तोत्रे गात नाहीत. अधोलोकातील लोक तुझे स्तवन करीत नाहीत. मृत तुझ्या मदतीची आशा करीत नाहीत. ते जमिनीतील खड्ड्यात जातात आणि परत कधीही बोलत नाहीत.

¹⁸For Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. can’t praise you. Death can’t celebrate you. Those who go down into the pit can’t hope for your truth.

²⁰Yahweh will save me. Therefore we will sing my songs with stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of Yahweh.
