¹येशूने या सर्व गोष्टी सांगितल्यानंतर तो गालीलातून निघून गेला. आणि यार्देन नदीच्या दुसऱ्या किनाऱ्याकडील यहूदा प्रांतात गेला.

¹It happened when Jesus had finished these words, he departed from Galilee, and came into the borders of Judea beyond the Jordan.

²तेव्हा मोठा लोकसमुदाय त्याच्या मागे गेला आणि तेथील अनेक आजरी लोकांना येशूने बरे केले.

²Great multitudes followed him, and he healed them there.

³काही परूशी येशूकडे आले. येशूने चुकीचे काही बोलावे असा प्रयत्न त्यांनी चालविला. त्यांनी येशूला विचारले, कोणत्याही कारणास्तव एखाद्या मनुष्याने आपल्या पत्नीला सोडचिठ्ठी द्यावी काय?

³Pharisees came to him, testing him, and saying, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason?”

⁴येशूने उत्तर दिले, पवित्र शास्त्रात असे लिहिलेले तुमच्या वाचनात निश्चितच आले असेल की, जेव्हा देवाने जग उत्पन्न केले,

⁴He answered, “Haven’t you read that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female, Genesis 1:27

⁵आणि देव म्हाणाला, म्हणून पुरूष आपल्या आईवडिलांना सोडिल व आपल्या पत्नीला जडून राहील. ती दोघे एकदेह होतील.

⁵ and said, ‘For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall join to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh?’ Genesis 2:24

⁶म्हणून दोन व्यक्ति या दोन नाहीत तर एक आहेत. देवाने त्या दोघांना एकत्र जोडले आहे. म्हणून कोणाही व्यक्तिने त्यांना वेगळे करू नये.”

⁶ So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, don’t let man tear apart.”

⁷परुश्यांनी विचारले, असे जर आहे, तर मग पुरूषाने सोडचिठ्टी लिहून देण्याची आणि आपल्या पत्नीला सोडून देण्याची मोकळीक देणारी आज्ञा मोशेने का दिली?”

⁷They asked him, “Why then did Moses command us to give her a bill of divorce, and divorce her?”

⁸येशूने उत्तर दिले, तुम्ही दावाची शिकवण मानण्यास नकार दिल्याने तुमच्या पत्नींना सोडून देण्याची मोकळीक दिली. पण सुरुवातीला सोडाचिठ्ठी देण्याची मोकळीक नव्हती.

⁸He said to them, “Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it has not been so.

⁹मी तुम्हांसा सांगतो, जो मनुष्य आपली पत्नी सोडून देतो आणि दुसरीशी लग्न करतो तो व्यभिचार करतो. आपल्या पत्नीला सोडचिठ्ठी देण्याचे एकच कारण आहे, ते म्हणजे पहिल्या पत्नीने परपुरुषांशी व्यभिचार करणे होय.”

⁹ I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and he who marries her when she is divorced commits adultery.”

¹⁰मग त्याचे शिष्य त्याला म्हणाले, जर पती व पत्नीमधील परिस्थिति अशी असेल तर मग लग्न न करणे जास्त योग्य ठरेल.”

¹⁰His disciples said to him, “If this is the case of the man with his wife, it is not expedient to marry.”

¹¹येशूने उत्तर दिले, लग्नाविषयीची अशी शिकवण स्वीकारणे प्रत्येक मनुष्याला शक्य होणार नाही. परंतू काही जणांना देवाने ही शिकवण ग्रहण करण्यास संमति दिली आहे.

¹¹But he said to them, “Not all men can receive this saying, but those to whom it is given.

¹²काही लोकांची लग्न न करण्याची कारणे निराळी असू शकतील. जन्मापासूनच काही माणसे अशी असतात की, ती मुलांना जन्म देऊ शकत नाहीत. इतर काही माणसांनी काही जणांना तसे बनविलेले असते तर आणखी काही माणसांनी स्वर्गाच्या राज्याकरिता लग्न करने सोडून दिले आहे, परंतू ज्याला लग्न करणे शक्य होईल, त्या मनुष्याने लग्नाविषयी ही शिकवण मान्य करावी.”

¹² For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother’s womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men; and there are eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the Kingdom of Heaven’s sake. He who is able to receive it, let him receive it.”

¹³नंतर येशूने आपल्या मुलांवर हात ठेवून प्रार्थना करावी यासाठी काही लोकांनी आपली मुले त्याच्याकडे आणली. येशूच्या शिष्यांनी त्यांना पाहिल्यावर ते बालकांना घेऊन येशूकडे येण्यास मना करू लागले.

¹³Then little children were brought to him, that he should lay his hands on them and pray; and the disciples rebuked them.

¹⁴परंतु येशू म्हणाला, लहान मुलांना मजकडे येऊ द्या, त्यांना मना करू नका, कारण स्वर्गाचे राज्य या लहान मुलांसारख्या लोकांचेच आहे.”

¹⁴But Jesus said, “Allow the little children, and don’t forbid them to come to me; for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to ones like these.”

¹⁵मुलांवर हात ठेवल्यावर येशू तेथून निघून गेला.

¹⁵He laid his hands on them, and departed from there.

¹⁶एक मनुष्य येशूकडे आला आणि त्याने विचारले, गुरूजी अनंतकाळचे जीवन मिळावे म्हणून मी कोणत्या चांगल्या गोष्टी केल्या पाहिजेत?”

¹⁶Behold, one came to him and said, “Good teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?”

¹⁷येशूने उत्तर दिले, काय चांगले आहे असे मला का विचारतोस? फक्त देव एकच चांगला आहे पण जर तुला अनंतकाळचे जीवन पाहिजे तर सर्व आज्ञा पाळ.”

¹⁷He said to him, “Why do you call me good? So MT and TR. NU reads “Why do you ask me about what is good?” No one is good but one, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”

¹⁸त्याने विचारले, कोणत्या आज्ञा?” येशूने उत्तर दिले, खून करू नको, व्यभिचार करू नको, चोरी करू नको, खोटी साक्ष देऊ नको.

¹⁸He said to him, “Which ones?” Jesus said, “‘You shall not murder.’ ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ ‘You shall not steal.’ ‘You shall not offer false testimony.’

¹⁹आपल्या आईवडिलांना मान दे आणि जशी स्वत:वर प्रीति करतोस तशी इतंरावर प्रीति कर.’

¹⁹ ‘Honor your father and mother.’ Exodus 20:12-16; Deuteronomy 5:16-20 And, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’” Leviticus 19:18

²⁰तो तरुण म्हणाला, या सर्व आज्ञा मी पाळत आलो आहे. मी आणखी काय करावे?”

²⁰The young man said to him, “All these things I have observed from my youth. What do I still lack?”

²¹येशूने उत्तर दिले, तुला जर परिपूर्ण व्हायचे असेल तर जा आणि तुझे जे काही आहे ते विकून टाक. आणि ते पैसे गरीबांना वाटून दे. म्हणजे स्वर्गात तुला मोठा ठेवा मळेल. मग ये आणि माझ्यामागे चालू लाग.”

²¹Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”

²²पण जेव्हा त्या तरूणाने हे ऐकले, तेव्हा त्याला फार दु:ख झाले. कारण तो खूप श्रीमंत होता, म्हणून तो येशूला सोडून निघून गेला.

²²But when the young man heard the saying, he went away sad, for he was one who had great possessions.

²³तेव्हा येशू आपल्या शिष्यांना म्हणाला, मी तुम्हाला खरे सांगतो, धनवान माणासाला स्वर्गाच्या राज्यात प्रवेश करणे फार कठीण जाईल.

²³Jesus said to his disciples, “Most certainly I say to you, a rich man will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven with difficulty.

²⁴मी तुम्हांला सांगतो की, धनवानाचा स्वर्गाच्या राज्यात प्रवेश होणे यापेक्षा उंटाला सुईच्या नेढ्यातून जाणे जास्त सोपे आहे.”

²⁴ Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God.”

²⁵जेव्हा शिष्यांनी हे ऐकले तेव्हा ते फार आश्चर्यचकित झाले. त्यांनी येशूला विचारले, “मग कोणाचे तारण होईल?”

²⁵When the disciples heard it, they were exceedingly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”

²⁶येशूने आपल्या शिष्यांकडे पाहिले आणि तो म्हाणाला, मनुष्यांना हे अशक्य आहे, पण देवासाठी सर्व गोष्टी शक्य आहेत.”

²⁶Looking at them, Jesus said, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

²⁷पेत्र येशूला म्हणाला, पाहा, आम्ही सर्व काही सोडले आणि तुमच्या मागे आलो आहोत; मग आम्हांला काय मिळेल.?”

²⁷Then Peter answered, “Behold, we have left everything, and followed you. What then will we have?”

²⁸येशू म्हणाला, मी तुम्हांला खरे सांगतो, नव्या युगात जेव्हा मनुष्याचा पुत्र त्याच्या गौरवी सिंहासनावर बसेल तेव्हा तुम्ही जे सर्व माझ्यामागे आलात ते सर्व बारा आसनांवर बसाल आणि इस्राएलाच्या बारा वंशाचा न्याय कराल.

²⁸Jesus said to them, “Most certainly I tell you that you who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on the throne of his glory, you also will sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

²⁹ज्याने ज्याने माझ्या मागे येण्याकरिता आपले घर, भाऊ, बहीण, आईवडील, मुले, शेतीवाडी सोडली असेल तर त्याला त्यापेक्षा कितीतरी जास्तापटीने लाभ होईल व त्याला अनंतकाळचे जीवन मिळेल.

²⁹ Everyone who has left houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, will receive one hundred times, and will inherit eternal life.

³⁰पण पुष्कळसे जे आता पहिले आहेत ते शेवटचे होतील आणि जे शेवटचे आहेत ते पहिले होतील.”

³⁰ But many will be last who are first; and first who are last.
