1Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of livestock: and when they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, that behold, the place was a place for livestock;
2म्हणून रऊबेन व गाद यांच्या घराण्यातील लोक मोशेकडे आले. ते मोशे, याजक एलाजार आणि लोकांचे पुढारी यांच्याशी बोलले.
2the children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spoke to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the princes of the congregation, saying,

3“Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Sebam, and Nebo, and Beon,
4[This verse may not be a part of this translation]
4the land which Yahweh struck before the congregation of Israel, is a land for livestock; and your servants have livestock.”
5जर तुम्हाला योग्य वाटत असेल तर तो प्रदेश आम्हाला देण्यात यावा असे आम्हाला वाटते. आम्हाला यार्देन नदीच्या पलिकडे नेऊ नका.”
5They said, “If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants for a possession; don’t bring us over the Jordan.”
6रऊबेन आणि गादच्या घराण्यातील लोकांना मोशे म्हणाला, “स्वत: इथे राहून तुम्ही तुमच्या भावाना लढायला पाठवाल का?
6Moses said to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, “Shall your brothers go to the war, and shall you sit here?
7तुम्ही इस्राएल लोकांना का निरूत्साहित करीत आहात? तुम्ही त्यांना नदी पार करण्याच्या इच्छेपासून परावृत कराल आणि परमेश्वराने त्यांना दिलेली जमीन तुम्ही घ्याल.
7Why do you discourage the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which Yahweh has given them?
8तुमच्या वाडवडिलांनी हीच गोष्ट माझ्याबाबतीत केली होती. कादेश-बर्ण्याला मी काही हेरांना जमीन बघण्यासाठी पाठवले.
8Your fathers did so when I sent them from Kadesh Barnea to see the land.
9ते लोक अष्कोल खोऱ्यापर्यंत गेले. त्यांनी जमीन बघितली आणि त्या लोकांनी इस्राएल लोकांना परमेश्वराने दिलेल्या प्रदेशात जाण्याच्या इच्छेपासून परावृत केले.
9For when they went up to the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land which Yahweh had given them.
10परमेश्वर त्या लोकांवर खूप रागावला. परमेश्वराने ही शपथ घेतली:
10Yahweh’s anger was kindled in that day, and he swore, saying,
11‘मिसर देशातून आलेल्या 20 वर्षांवरील कुठल्याही माणसाला हा प्रदेश बघू दिला जाणार नाही. मी अब्राहाम, इसहाक व याकोब यांना वचन दिले होते. त्याना मी ही जमीन द्यायचे कबूल केले होते. परंतु त्यांनी मला मनापासून अनुसरले नाही. म्हणून त्यांना हा प्रदेश मिळणार नाही.
11‘Surely none of the men who came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me:
12फक्त यफुन्नेचा मुलगा कारेब आणि नूनाचा मुलगा यहोशवा हे मनापासून परमेश्वराला अनुसरले.”
12except Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun; because they have followed Yahweh completely.’
13“परमेश्वर इस्राएल लोकांवर खूप रागावला होता. म्हणून परमेशवराने त्यांना 40 वर्षे वाळवंटात ठेवले. ज्या लोकांनी परमेश्वराविरुद्ध पाप केले त्या लोकांना परमेश्वराने मरण येईपर्यंत तिथे ठेवले.
13Yahweh’s anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander back and forth in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, who had done evil in the sight of Yahweh, was consumed.
14आणि आता तुमच्या वाडवडिलांनी जी गोष्ट केली तीच तुम्ही करीत आहात. पाप्यांनो परमेश्वराने त्याच्या लोकांवर आणखी रागवावे अशी तुमची इच्छा आहे का?
14“Behold, you have risen up in your fathers’ place, an increase of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of Yahweh toward Israel.
15जर तुम्ही परमेश्वराची भक्ति करायचे सोडले तर परमेश्वर इस्राएल लोकांना अधिक काळ वाळवंटात ठेवील आणि नंतर तुम्ही त्या सर्व लोकांचा नाश कराल.”
15For if you turn away from after him, he will yet again leave them in the wilderness; and you will destroy all this people.”
16पण रऊबेनच्या आणि गादच्या घराण्यातील लोक मोशेकडे गेले. ते म्हणाले, “आम्ही या जागेवर आमच्या मुलांसाठी शहरे आणि आमच्या जनावरांसाठी गोठे उभारू.
16They came near to him, and said, “We will build sheepfolds here for our livestock, and cities for our little ones:
17त्यामुळे आमची मुले या ठिकाणी राहाणाऱ्या इतर लोकांपासून सुरक्षित राहतील. पण आम्ही इस्राएलच्या इतर लोकांना मदत करण्यासाठी आनंदाने येऊ. आम्ही त्यांना त्यांच्या प्रदेशात आणू.
17but we ourselves will be ready armed to go before the children of Israel, until we have brought them to their place: and our little ones shall dwell in the fortified cities because of the inhabitants of the land.
18इस्राएलमधल्या प्रत्येकाने त्याच्या वाट्याची जमीन घेतल्याशिवाय आम्ही परत येणार नाही.
18We will not return to our houses, until the children of Israel have inherited every man his inheritance.
19यार्देन नदीच्या पश्चिमेकडची कुठलीही जमीन आम्ही घेणार नाही. आमच्या वाट्याची जमीन यार्देन नदीच्या पूर्वेला आहे.”
19For we will not inherit with them on the other side of the Jordan, and forward; because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side of the Jordan eastward.”
20तेव्हा मोशे त्यांना म्हणाला, “जर तुम्ही या सर्व गोष्टी केल्या तर हा प्रदेश तुमचा होईल. परंतु तुमच्या सैनिकांनी परमेश्वरासमोर लढाईत उतरले पाहिजे.
20Moses said to them, “If you will do this thing, if you will arm yourselves to go before Yahweh to the war,
21तुमच्या सैन्याने यार्देन नदी पार करून शत्रु सैन्याला या प्रदेशातून हाकलले पाहीजे.
21and every armed man of you will pass over the Jordan before Yahweh, until he has driven out his enemies from before him,
22सगळा प्रदेश घेण्यासाठी परमेश्वराने आपल्याला मदत केली की तुम्ही घरी जाऊ शकता. नंतर परमेश्वराला आणि इस्राएलला तुम्ही पापी आहात असे वाटणार नाही. नंतर परमेश्वर तुम्हाला ही जमीन देईल.
22and the land is subdued before Yahweh; then afterward you shall return, and be guiltless towards Yahweh, and towards Israel; and this land shall be to you for a possession before Yahweh.
23पण जर तुम्ही या गोष्टी केल्या नाहीत तर तुम्ही परमेश्वराविरुद्ध पाप कराल आणि तुमच्या पापाबद्दल तुम्हाला शासन होईल याची खात्री बाळगा.
23“But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned against Yahweh; and be sure your sin will find you out.

24Build cities for your little ones, and folds for your sheep; and do that which has proceeded out of your mouth.”
25नंतर रऊबेन आणि गादच्या कुटुंबातील लोक मोशेला म्हणाले, “आम्ही तुझे नोकर आहोत. तू आमचा मालक आहेस म्हणून तू जे सांगतोस ते आम्ही करु.
25The children of Gad and the children of Reuben spoke to Moses, saying, “Your servants will do as my lord commands.
26आमच्या बायका, मुले आणि आमची सर्व जनावरे गिलाद शहरात राहतील.
26Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our livestock, shall be there in the cities of Gilead;
27पण आम्ही, तुझे नोकर यार्देन नदी पार करु. आम्ही परमेश्वरापुढे लढाईस जाऊ. जसे आमचा धनी सांगत आहे.”
27but your servants will pass over, every man who is armed for war, before Yahweh to battle, as my lord says.”
28याप्रमाणे त्यांनी वचन दिले. ते मोशे, याजक एलाजार, नूनाचा मुलगा यहोशवा आणि इस्राएलचे सर्व कुटुंबप्रमुख या सर्वांनी ते ऐकले.
28So Moses commanded concerning them to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the heads of the fathers’ households of the tribes of the children of Israel.
29मोशे त्यांना म्हणाला, “गाद आणि रऊबेनचे लोक यार्देन नदी पार करतील. ते लढाईत परमेश्वराच्या पुढे चालतील. ते तुम्हाला प्रदेश जिंकायला मदत करतील आणि तुम्ही गिलादचा प्रदेश त्यांच्या वाटेचा भाग म्हणून द्याल.
29Moses said to them, “If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben will pass with you over the Jordan, every man who is armed to battle, before Yahweh, and the land shall be subdued before you; then you shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession:
30पण ते तुमच्या सैन्याबरोबर जाण्यात अपयशी ठरले तर कनानमध्ये तुमच्यामध्ये त्यांना जमीन मिळेल.”
30but if they will not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan.”
31गाद आणि रऊबेनच्या लोकांनी उत्तर दिले. “आम्ही परमेश्वराच्या आज्ञेप्रमाणे सर्वकाही करण्याचे वचन देतो.
31The children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying, “As Yahweh has said to your servants, so will we do.
32आम्ही यार्देन नदी पार करु आणि लढाईत परमेश्वरापुढे कनानच्या प्रदेशात जाऊ. आमच्या देशाचा प्रदेश यार्देन नदीच्या पूर्वेला आहे.”
32We will pass over armed before Yahweh into the land of Canaan, and the possession of our inheritance shall remain with us beyond the Jordan.”
33तेव्हा मोशेने ती जमीन गादच्या, रऊबेनच्या लोकांना आणि मनश्शेच्या कुटुंबातील अर्ध्या लोकांना दिली. (मनश्शे योसेफचा मुलगा होता.) त्या प्रदेशात अमोऱ्याचा राजा सीहोन आणि बाशानाचा राजा ओग यांच्या राज्याचा त्या भूमीत समावेश होता. त्यांत आजुबाजूच्या प्रदेशातील शहरे होती.
33Moses gave to them, even to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land, according to its cities and borders, even the cities of the surrounding land.
34गादच्या लोकांनी दीबोन, अटारोथ, अरोएर,
34The children of Gad built Dibon, and Ataroth, and Aroer,
35अटारोथ-शोफान, याजेर यागबहा,
35and Atrothshophan, and Jazer, and Jogbehah,
36बेथनिम्रा आणि बेथ-हारान ही शहरे वसवली. त्यांनी शहराभोवती तटबंदी उभारली आणि त्यांच्या जनावरांसाठी गोठे बांधले.
36and Beth Nimrah, and Beth Haran: fortified cities, and folds for sheep.
37रऊबेनच्या लोकांनी हेशबोन, एलाले, किर्याथाईम.
37The children of Reuben built Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Kiriathaim,
38नबो व बाल-मौन आणि सिबमाह ही शहरे वसवली. त्यांनी पुन्हा वसवलेल्या शहरांना जुनीच नावे दिली. पण नेबो आणि बाल-मोनचे नांव त्यांनी बदलले.
38and Nebo, and Baal Meon, (their names being changed), and Sibmah: and they gave other names to the cities which they built.
39माखीरच्या कुटुंबातील लोक गिलादला गेले (माखीर मनश्शेचा मुलगा होता.) त्यांनी त्या शहराचा पराभव केला. तेथे राहणाऱ्या आमोरी लोकांचा त्यांनी पराभव केला.
39The children of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead, and took it, and dispossessed the Amorites who were therein.
40मोशेने गिलाद मनश्शेच्या कुटुंबातील माखीरला दिले. म्हणून त्याचे कुटुंब तेथे राहिले.
40Moses gave Gilead to Machir the son of Manasseh; and he lived therein.
41मनश्शेच्या कुटुंबातील याईर याने छोट्या शहरांचा पराभव केला. नंतर त्याने त्यांना याईरची शहरे असे म्हटले.
41Jair the son of Manasseh went and took its towns, and called them Havvoth Jair.
42नोबहने कनाथ व त्याच्या आसपासच्या छोट्या शहरांचा पराभव केला. नंतर त्याने त्या जागेला आपले नाव दिले.
42Nobah went and took Kenath, and its villages, and called it Nobah, after his own name.
