¹परमप्रभुबाट यर्मियाकहाँ सन्देश आयो। सन्देश त्यतिबेला आयो जब बाबेलका राजा नबूकदनेस्सर, यरूशलेम र त्यसका वरिपरिका शहरहरूका विरूद्ध लडाइँ गरिरहेका थिए। नबूकदनेस्सरसँग उसका सारा सेना अनि आफूले शासन गरेका राज्यहरूका सेना र मानिसहरू थिए।

¹The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah — and Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and all his force, and all kingdoms of the land of the dominion of his hand, and all the peoples are fighting against Jerusalem, and against all its cities — saying:

²“परमप्रभु इस्राएलका परमेश्वर भन्नुहुन्छ यर्मिया यहूदाका राजाकहाँ जाऊ अनि तिनलाई भन ‘सिदकियाह, परमप्रभु यसो भन्नुहुन्छ म यरूशलेमको यो शहर बाबेलका राजालाई दिइरहेको छु जसले यसलाई जलाएर खरानी पार्नेछ।

²`Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel: Go, and thou hast spoken unto Zedekiah king of Judah, and hast said unto him, Thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am giving this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he hath burned it with fire,

³सिदकियाह बाबेलका राजा देखि तिमी उम्कने छैनौ। तिमीलाई निसन्देह पक्रिने छ र उसलाई सुम्पने छ। तिमीले आफ्नै आँखाहरूले बाबेलका राजालाई देख्नेछौ आमने सामने कुरा गर्नेछौ। तब तिमीलाई बाबेलमा लैजानेछन्।

³and thou, thou dost not escape out of his hand, for thou art certainly caught, and into his hand thou art given, and thine eyes see the eyes of the king of Babylon, and his mouth with thy mouth speaketh, and Babylon thou enterest.

⁴यहूदाका राजा सिदकियाह परमप्रभुको वचन सुन। परमप्रभुले तिमीहरूलाई भन्नुहुन्छ, तिमी युद्धमा मारिने छैनौ।

⁴`Only, hear a word of Jehovah, O Zedekiah king of Judah, Thus said Jehovah unto thee: Thou dost not die by sword,

⁵तिमी शान्तिसित मर्नेछौ। मानिसहरूले तिम्रो पिता-पुर्खाहरूलाई जस्तै ती राजाहरू जो तिमी भन्दा अघि आए तिम्रो लागि धूप जलाउनेछन्। तिनीहरूले तिम्रा निम्ति शोक मनाउनेछन् र दुखीत भएर भन्नेछन्। “हे! प्रभु।” मैले म कुरा तपाईंसँग भनेकोछु।”‘ यो सन्देश परमप्रभुबाट आएको हो।

⁵in peace thou diest, and with the burnings of thy fathers, the former kings who have been before thee, so they make a burning for thee; and Ah, lord, they lament for thee, for the word I have spoken — an affirmation of Jehovah.`

⁶तब यर्मिया अगमवक्ताले परमेश्वरको यी सबै वचन यरूशलेममा सिदकियाहलाई भने।

⁶And Jeremiah the prophet speaketh unto Zedekiah king of Judah all these words in Jerusalem,

⁷बाबेलका राजाले यरूशलेम अनि यहूदाको बाँकी रहेका गढीमा भएका शहरहरू लाकीश र अजेकाको विरूद्ध लडे। यी मात्र यहूदाको देशमा पर्खालले बारेका थियो।

⁷and the forces of the king of Babylon are fighting against Jerusalem, and against all the cities of Judah that are left — against Lachish, and against Azekah, for these have been left among the cities of Judah, cities of fortresses.

⁸राजा सिदकियाहले यरूशलेमका मानिसहरूसँग हिब्रू कमाराहरूलाई मुक्ति दिनलाई करार गरेका थिए। एउटा सिदकियाहले करार गरेपछि सन्देश परमप्रभुबाट यर्मियाकहाँ आयो।

⁸The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, after the making by the king Zedekiah of a covenant with all the people who [are] in Jerusalem, to proclaim to them liberty,

⁹प्रत्येक मानिसले आफ्ना हिब्रू-कमाराहरूलाई स्वतंन्त्र पार्नु पर्ने हो। प्रत्येक हिब्रू कमारा-कमारीहरू स्वतंत्र गराउनु पर्ने हो। कसैले पनि यहूदा समुदायबाट कमारो नबनावोस्।

⁹to send out each his man-servant, and each his maid-servant — the Hebrew and the Hebrewess — free, so as not to lay service on them, any on a Jew his brother;

¹⁰यसकारण यहूदाका शासकहरू र मानिसहरूले यो करार स्वीकार गरे। प्रत्येक मानिसले आफ्ना कमारा-कमारीहरू स्वतन्त्र बनाउनेछ। प्रत्येक मानिस राजी भए र सबै कमारा-कमारीहरू स्वतंत्र गरिदिए।

¹⁰and hearken do all the heads, and all the people who have come in to the covenant to send forth each his man-servant and each his maid-servant free, so as not to lay service on them any more, yea, they hearken, and send them away;

¹¹तर त्यसपछि, मानिसहरू ज-जसकहाँ आफ्ना कमारा-कमारीहरू थिए तिनीहरूले आफ्ना मन बद्ले। यसकारण फेरि तिनीहरू आफैले स्वतन्त्र पारेका मानिसहरू ल्याए अनि तिनीहरूलाई आफ्नो कमारा-कमारीलाई बनाए।

¹¹and they turn afterwards, and cause the men-servants and the maid-servants to return, whom they had sent forth free, and they subdue them for men-servants and for maid-servants.

¹²तब परमप्रभुबाट सन्देश यर्मियाकहाँ आयो

¹²And there is a word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying:

¹³यही नै परमप्रभु, इस्राएलका परमेश्वर भन्नुहुन्छ “तिमीहरूका पिता-पुर्खाहरू मिश्रमा कमारा-कमारीहरू थिए मैले उनीहरूलाई मिश्रबाट निकालें अनि कमारापनबाट पनि निकालें र तिनीहरूलाई एउटा करार गरे।

¹³`Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, I — I made a covenant with your fathers in the day of My bringing them forth from the land of Egypt, from a house of servants, saying,

¹⁴यो करार अनुसार प्रत्येक मानिसले आफ्ना हिब्रू कमाराहरूलाई प्रत्येक सातौं वर्षको आरम्भमा स्वतंन्त्र दिनु पर्छ। प्रत्येक हिब्रू कमारा-कमारी छ वर्षको सेवा पछि स्वतन्त्र हुनु पर्छ। तर तिमीहरूका पिता-पुर्खाहरूले मेरो कुरामा ध्यान दिएनन्।

¹⁴At the end of seven years ye do send forth each his brother, the Hebrew, who is sold to thee, and hath served thee six years, yea, thou hast sent him forth free from thee: and your fathers hearkened not unto Me, nor inclined their ear.

¹⁵भर्खरै तिमीहरू आफूले गरेको कामका निम्ति पश्चाताप गर्यौ अनि मेरो नजरमा के सही हो त्यो गर्यौ। जुन मन्दिर मेरो नाउँले प्रसिद्ध छ त्यसमा तिमीहरूले मेरो समक्ष एउटा करार गर्यौ अनि हिब्रू कमारा-कमारीहरूलाई स्वतन्त्र दिने घोषणा गर्यौ।

¹⁵`And ye turn back, ye to-day, and ye do that which is right in Mine eyes, to proclaim liberty each to his neighbour, and ye make a covenant before Me in the house over which My name is called.

¹⁶तर फेरि, तिमीहरूले आफ्ना मन बद्लियौ। तिमीहरूले मेरो नाउँको बेइज्जत गर्यौ। तिमीहरूले मुक्ति दिएका कमारा-कमारीहरूलाई फर्काई ल्यायौ र बलपूर्वक तिनीहरूलाई कमारा-कमारी बनायौ।

¹⁶And — ye turn back, and pollute My name, and ye cause each his man-servant and each his maid-servant, whom he had sent forth free, (at their pleasure,) to return, and ye subdue them to be to you for men-servants and for maid-servants.

¹⁷“यसकारण परमप्रभु भन्नुहुन्छ “तिमीहरूले मेरो कुराको पालन गरेनौ। तिमीहरूले आफ्ना मित्र अनि छिमेकीहरूलाई स्वतंत्र पारेनौ। यसकारण तरवार, अनिकाल र भयानक महामारीद्वारा मारिनको लागि म तिमीहरूलाई “मुक्ति” घोषणा गर्छु। म तिमीहरूको अवस्था यति दर्दनाक बनाउनेछु कि तिमीहरूको अवस्था देखी सम्पूर्ण पृथ्वी नै भयभीत हुनेछ।

¹⁷`Therefore, thus said Jehovah: Ye have not hearkened unto Me to proclaim freedom, each to his brother, and each to his neighbour; lo, I am proclaiming to you liberty — an affirmation of Jehovah — unto the sword, unto the pestilence, and unto the famine, and I have given you for a trembling to all kingdoms of the earth.

¹⁸ज-जसले त्यो करार भंग गरेछन् अनि ज-जसले मेरो अघि गरेका प्रतिज्ञाहरू लत्याएका छन् तिनीहरूसित त्यही व्यवहार गर्नेछु जस्तो एउटी बाछीलाई दुइ फ्याक पार्छन् र ती दुइ टुक्राहरूको माझमा हिँडछन्।

¹⁸`And I have given the men who are transgressing My covenant, who have not established the words of the covenant that they have made before Me, by the calf, that they have cut in two, and pass through between its pieces —

¹⁹ती मानिसहरू जो त्यो बाछाको दुइफ्याक माझबाट हिँडे तिनीहरू यहूदा र यरूशलेमका शासकहरू, त्यो देशका मानिसहरू अनि नपुंसकहरू र पूजाहारीहरू थिए।

¹⁹heads of Judah, and heads of Jerusalem, the officers, and the priests, and all the people of the land those passing through between the pieces of the calf —

²⁰यसकारण ती मानिसहरू तिनीहरूका शत्रुहरूलाई सुम्पनेछु जसले तिनीहरूलाई मार्न चाहन्छन्। ती मानिसका लाशहरू चरा-चुरूङ्गीहरूका लागि खाद्य अनि पशुहरूको शिकार हुनेछ।

²⁰yea, I have given them into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those seeking their soul, and their carcase hath been for food to the fowl of the heavens, and to the beast of the earth.

²¹म यहूदाका राजा सिदकियाहलाई र उसका मानिसहरूलाई तिनीहरूका शत्रुहरूकहाँ सुम्पिनेछु जसले तिनीहरूलाई मार्न चाहन्छन्। ती सेनाहरू यरूशलेमबाट गइसकेका भएता पनि म तिनीहरूलाई बाबेलका राजाको सेनाहरूकहाँ सुम्पिनेछु।

²¹`And Zedekiah king of Judah, and his heads, I give into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those seeking their soul, and into the hand of the forces of the king of Babylon, that are going up from off you.

²²तर म आदेश दिनेछु अनि बाबेलका सेनाहरू फर्की आउनेछन्।’ यो परमप्रभुको सन्देश हो। ‘ती सेनाहरूले यरूशलेम विरूद्ध युद्ध गर्नेछ। बाबेलका सेनाहरूले यो शहर कब्जा गर्नेछन् र यसलाई जलाई खरानी बनाउनेछन्। म यहूदाका शहर ध्वंस पार्नेछु र यसलाई कोही नबस्ने निर्जन मरूभूमिमा परिणत गरिदिनेछु।”‘

²²Lo, I am commanding — an affirmation of Jehovah — and have brought them back unto this city, and they have fought against it, and captured it, and burned it with fire, and the cities of Judah I do make a desolation — without inhabitant.`
