¹हेर सुन कसरी फिका भयो। हेर असली सुन कसरी बद्लियो। त्यहाँ चारैतिर छरिएका हीरामोतीहरू छन्। तिनीहरू प्रत्येक गल्छेडाहरूमा छरिएका छन्।

¹How is the gold become dim, Changed the best — the pure gold? Poured out are stones of the sanctuary At the head of all out-places.

²सियोनका मानिसहरू बहुमूल्य रत्नहरू जस्तै थिए। तिनीहरूलाई सुनझैं कदर गरिन्थ्यो। तर अहिले तिनीहरूका शत्रुहरूले तिनीहरूलाई कुमालेले बनाएका माटोका पुराना भाँडाहरू जस्तै ठानिरहेका छन्।

²The precious sons of Zion, Who are comparable with fine gold, How have they been reckoned earthen bottles, Work of the hands of a potter.

³स्यालहरूले पनि आफ्नो छाउराहरूलाई दूध चुसाएर हुर्काउँछन्, तर मेरा मानिसकी छोरी निष्ठुरी छन्। उनी मरूभूमिमा हुने शतुमुर्ग जस्तै छन्।

³Even dragons have drawn out the breast, They have suckled their young ones, The daughter of my people is become cruel, Like the ostriches in a wilderness.

⁴दूध खाने शिशुको जिब्रो तिर्खाले तालुमा टाँसिन्छ। नानीहरूले रोटी मागिरहेका छन्, तर तिनीहरूलाई कसैले पनि दिइरहेका छैनन्।

⁴Cleaved hath the tongue of a suckling unto his palate with thirst, Infants asked bread, a dealer out they have none.

⁵ती मानिसहरू जो स्वादिष्ट खाना खान्थे, गल्लीमा भोकले मरिरहेकाछन्। ती मानिसहरू जो राता लुगाहरू पहिरिएर हुर्के तिनीहरूले घुरान-पेटीबाट मैलाहरू टिप्दैछन्।

⁵Those eating of dainties have been desolate in out-places, Those supported on scarlet have embraced dunghills.

⁶मेरा मानिसका छोरीहरूको पाप सदोम र गोमोरको भन्दा ठूलो छ। सदोम र गोमोर सजिलै सर्वनाश भए। त्यो मानिसको हातबाट सर्वनाश भएको होइन।

⁶And greater is the iniquity of the daughter of my people, Than the sin of Sodom, That was overturned as [in] a moment, And no hands were stayed on her.

⁷यहूदका कतिपय मानिसहरूले विषेश प्रकारले परमप्रभुलाई समर्पण गरे। ती मानिसहरू अति पवित्र थिए। तिनीहरू हिँऊँभन्दा पनि सफा र दुध भन्दा पनि सेता थिए। तिनीहरूका शरीर मुँगा भन्दा पनि राता थिए। तिनीहरूका दाह्री नीलमणि ढुंङ्गा जस्तै थिए।

⁷Purer were her Nazarites than snow, Whiter than milk, ruddier of body than rubies, Of sapphire their form.

⁸अहिले तिनीहरूको अनुहारहरू लालटिनको मोसोभन्दा काला छन्। तिनीहरूलाई गल्लीहरूमा पार भएर जाँदा कसैले पनि चिन्दैन। तिनीहरूका छाला हड्डीसंग टाँसिएर चाउरी परेका छन। तिनीहरूका छाला काठझैं खस्त्रा छन।

⁸Darker than blackness hath been their visage, They have not been known in out-places, Cleaved hath their skin unto their bone, It hath withered — it hath been as wood.

⁹जो भोकले मर्नेहरू भन्दा तरवारले काटिएर मर्नेहरू भाग्यमानी हुन्। खानको कमीले मर्नेहरू भन्दा चोटबाट रगत बगेर मर्नेहरू अझ भाग्यमानी हुन्।

⁹Better have been the pierced of a sword Than the pierced of famine, For these flow away, pierced through, Without the increase of the field.

¹⁰एक समयमा माया गर्ने आइमाईहरूले आफ्ना नानीहरूका लागि खाना पकाउँथे। पछिबाट ती नानीहरू नै तिनीहरूका आमाहरूका एकमात्र आहार बने। यी सबै कुराहरू भए जब मेरो मानिसहरूलाई नष्ट पारिएको थियो।

¹⁰The hands of merciful women have boiled their own children, They have been for food to them, In the destruction of the daughter of my people.

¹¹परमप्रभुले आफ्ना सारा क्रोध प्रकट गर्नुभयो र उहाँले आफ्नो क्रोध पोखाउनु भयो। उहाँले सियोनमा आगो लगाउनु भयो। आगोले सियोन्‌को जगहरू धराशायी गरिदियो।

¹¹Completed hath Jehovah His fury, He hath poured out the fierceness of His anger, And he kindleth a fire in Zion, And it devoureth her foundations.

¹²यरूशलेमका फाटकहरूबाट शत्रुहरू प्रवेश गर्ने छन् भन्ने कसैले विश्वास गर्न सक्दैन थे।

¹²Believe not did the kings of earth, And any of the inhabitants of the world, That come would an adversary and enemy Into the gates of Jerusalem.

¹³यी सबै कुराहरू यरूशलेमका अगमवक्ताहरू र पूजाहारीहरूको पापको कारणले गर्दा अनि त्यहाँका निर्दोष जनतलाई जसले मारे ती मानिसहरूको कारणले गर्दा, भएका थियो।

¹³Because of the sins of her prophets, The iniquities of her priests, Who are shedding in her midst the blood of the righteous,

¹⁴अगमवक्ताहरू र पूजाहारीहरू अन्धा मानिस सरह गल्लीहरूमा हिंङ्दथे। तिनीहरू रगतले लत्‌पत् भएका थिए। एका अर्कामा लुगा छुन पनि घिनाउँथे।

¹⁴They have wandered naked in out-places, They have been polluted with blood, Without [any] being able to touch their clothing,

¹⁵तिनीहरू चिच्याए, “भाग! भाग! हामीलाई नछोऊ!” तिनीहरू भन्छन्, “तिनीहरू बेगारी भई घुम्नु पर्छ। उनीहरू यहाँ रहन सक्दैनन्।”

¹⁵`Turn aside — unclean,` they called to them, `Turn aside, turn aside, touch not,` For they fled — yea, they have wandered, They have said among nations: `They do not add to sojourn.`

¹⁶परमप्रभु स्वयंले ती मानिसहरूलाई नष्ट गर्नुभयो उहाँले तिनीहरूको हेरचाह गर्नुभएन। उहाँले पूजाहारीहरूको आदर गर्नुभएन यहूदका बूढा-प्रधानहरूसँग उहाँको मैत्रीभाव थिएन्।

¹⁶The face of Jehovah hath divided them, He doth not add to behold them, The face of priests they have not lifted up, Elders they have not favoured.

¹⁷सहायताको निम्ति हेर्दा हेर्दा हाम्रो आँखाहरू टट्टाए। तर कतैबाट सहायता आएन। हामीले स्वयंलाई बचाउँन कुनै एक जातिलाई हेर्यौं। तर कुनै जाति पनि आएन।

¹⁷While we exist — consumed are our eyes for our vain help, In our watch-tower we have watched for a nation [that] saveth not.

¹⁸हाम्ना शत्रुहरूले सारा समय हामीलाई घात पारीरहे। हामी गल्लीमा सम्म निस्कन सकेनौं। हाम्रो अन्त्य नजीक आई सक्यो। हाम्रो समय पूरा भैसक्यौ। हाम्रो अन्त्य आई सक्यो।

¹⁸They have hunted our steps from going in our broad-places, Near hath been our end, fulfilled our days, For come hath our end.

¹⁹ती मानिसहरू जसले हामीलाई खेदे तिनीसहरू आकाशमा उड्ने चील भन्दा तेज थिए। ती मानिसहरूले हामीलाई पर्वतहरू सम्म खेदे हामीलाई समात्न भनेर मरूभूमिमा लुकेर ढुकी बसे।

¹⁹Swifter have been our pursuers, Than the eagles of the heavens, On the mountains they have burned [after] us, In the wilderness they have laid wait for us.

²⁰राजा हाम्रो लागि अत्यन्त प्रमुख थिए उनी हाम्रा प्राणका स्वास जस्तै थिए। तर राजालाई तिनीहरूले पासोमा पारे परमप्रभुबाटनै चुनिएका राजा थिए। हामीले राजाको विषयमा भन्यौं, “हामी उहाँको छायाँसँग बाँच्नेछौं उहाँले हामीलाई अन्य जातिहरूबाट जोगाउनु हुने छ।”

²⁰The breath of our nostrils — the anointed of Jehovah, Hath been captured in their pits, of whom we said: `In his shadow we do live among nations.`

²¹एदोमका मानिसहरू खुशी बन, ऊज भूमिमा बस्नेहरू खुशी बन। तर याद गर, परमप्रभुको कचौरा तिमीहरूका वरिपरि आउने छ। जब तिमी त्यो कचौराबाट पिउछौ तिमीहरू मातिने छौं। अनि आफैंलाई नाङ्गो पार्ने छौ।

²¹Joy and rejoice, O daughter of Edom, Dwelling in the land of Uz, Even unto thee pass over doth a cup, Thou art drunk, and makest thyself naked.

²²हे सियोन तिमीहरूका दण्ड पूर्ण भयो, तिमीहरू फेरि कैदखानामा छैनौ। तर हेर परमप्रभुले एदोमका मानिसहरूलाई तिमीहरूको पापको दण्ड दिनुहुनेछ। उहाँले तिमीहरूका पाप उदाङ्गो पार्नु हुनेछ।

²²Completed [is] thy iniquity, daughter of Zion, He doth not add to remove thee, He hath inspected thy iniquity, O daughter of Edom, He hath removed [thee] because of thy sins!
