¹ज्ञानले आफ्नो घर बनाई। उसले त्यस घरमा सातओटा खम्बाहरू खडा गरी।

¹Wisdom hath builded her house, She hath hewn out her pillars — seven.

²उसले मासु पकाई अनि त्यसपछि दाखरस बनाई। उसले खाना टेबिलमाथि राखी।

²She hath slaughtered her slaughter, She hath mingled her wine, Yea, she hath arranged her table.

³तब उसले उसको सेविका केटीहरूलाई शहरको अग्लो ठाउँमा मानिसहरूलाई निम्त्याउन पठाई।

³She hath sent forth her damsels, She crieth on the tops of the high places of the city:

⁴तिमी मानिसहरू ज-जसलाई सिक्न आवश्यक छ, आओ। उसले मूर्ख मानिसहरूलाई पनि निम्त्याउन भनी।

⁴`Who [is] simple? let him turn aside hither.` Whoso lacketh heart: she hath said to him,

⁵आओ, अनि मेरा ज्ञानका भोजन खाओ। अनि दाखरस पनि पिओ जुन मैले तयार पारेकी छु।

⁵`Come, eat of my bread, And drink of the wine I have mingled.

⁶अनुभवहीनता तिम्रो पछि छोड अनि समझशक्ति भएको बाटोमा हिंड।

⁶Forsake ye, the simple, and live, And be happy in the way of understanding.

⁷अरूलाई अपमान गर्नेहरूलाई सुधार्न खोज्ने मानिस आफैं अपमानित हुन्छ र जसले दुष्टमानिसलाई हप्काउँछ उसलाई हानी हुन्छ।

⁷The instructor of a scorner Is receiving for it — shame, And a reprover of the wicked — his blemish.

⁸अरूलाई अपमान गर्ने मानिसलाई तिमीले कहिल्यै पनि नझपार्नु नत्र उसले तिमीलाई नै घृणा गर्न थाल्छ। तर यदि तिमीले कुनै ज्ञानी मानिसलाई हप्का्यौ भने उसले तिमीलाई प्रेम गर्न थाल्नेछ।

⁸Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee, Give reproof to the wise, and he loveth thee.

⁹Give to the wise, and he is wiser still, Make known to the righteous, And he increaseth learning.

¹⁰परमप्रभुलाई आदर गर्नुको अर्थ ज्ञान प्राप्त गर्ने पहिलो पाइलो हुन्छ, अनि पवित्र परमप्रभुको ज्ञान नै समझशक्ति हो।

¹⁰The commencement of wisdom [is] the fear of Jehovah, And a knowledge of the Holy Ones [is] understanding.

¹¹किनभने तिम्रो आयु बढने, दिन समय बढनु र तिम्रो जीवनमा र्बषको र्बष बढेर जानु मबाट नै हुन्छ।

¹¹For by me do thy days multiply, And added to thee are years of life.

¹²यदि तिमी बुद्धिमान छौ भने तिमी आफैंले लाभ उठाउने छौ। तर यदि तिमी ठट्टा गर्छौ भने तिमी आफैंले दुःख पाउनेछौ।

¹²If thou hast been wise, thou hast been wise for thyself, And thou hast scorned — thyself bearest [it].

¹³मूर्खता यस्तो आइमाई हो जसले खुब कुरा गर्छे तर ऊ मूर्ख हो, र केही पनि जान्दिनँ।

¹³A foolish woman [is] noisy, Simple, and hath not known what.

¹⁴ऊ उसको घरको दैलोमा, बसीरहन्छे शहरको सबैभन्दा अग्लो स्थानमा भएको आसन माथि बस्छे।

¹⁴And she hath sat at the opening of her house, On a throne — the high places of the city,

¹⁵उसको अगाडीबाट जो आफ्नो सोझो बाटो गइरहेको हुन्छ उसलाई बोलाएर भन्छे,

¹⁵To call to those passing by the way, Who are going straight [on] their paths.

¹⁶अरे हे बुद्धि नभएकाहरू हो, यहाँ भित्र आऊ।” उसले तिनीहरूलाई भन्छे जोसँग चेतना नै छैन।

¹⁶`Who [is] simple? let him turn aside hither.` And whoso lacketh heart — she said to him,

¹⁷“बोकेको पानीको स्वाद अझ मिठो हुन्छ, चोरेको खाना साँच्चै स्वादिष्ट हुन्छ।”

¹⁷`Stolen waters are sweet, And hidden bread is pleasant.`

¹⁸मूर्ख मानिसहरूले जान्दैनन् कि तिनका घर भूतहरूले पूर्ण छ अनि तिनले तिनीहरूलाई चिहानको गहिरो भागमा निमन्त्रणा गरेका छन्।

¹⁸And he hath not known that Rephaim [are] there, In deep places of Sheol her invited ones!
